Today my bike wouldn't start in a walgreens parking lot. I was on hold with my road side service and as I turned around, i saw a sign for motorcycle repair. I rolled my bike up and the guy eight away helped me. It turned out to be a charging problem. He charged my battery. I was in the shop bothering him for a few hours. I'm a motorcycle rookie and he spent a lot of time explaining stuff to me. And he only charged me $10 to charge the battery. This guy was awesome. He told me he isn't a people person but I don't buy it. He was super nice. He could have totally ripped me off (cause i don't know anything) but he didn't. I'd give him 10 stars I'd I could. I had bent my front hand brake lever and needed it replaced. Looked for repair places on Yelp as I'm new to the area and Quality Motorcycles came up. Truth be told, this isn't a rocket science repair job and I'm sure that *any* place could have done the job with no problem. I mean, it's trivial. I called and told him what I needed. He called back and said he'd heard what he needed from my message and the replacement handle would be in the next day. He doesn't get to his shop until 11:00 or such, so I dropped it off earlier in the day and just left it outside his door. (After all, this was a brake lever, he didn't even need the key.) He called back to say it was done and I paid w/ Visa over the phone ($22 bucks all in.) I came by around 10pm that evening expecting to just pick it up and go. However he was there in his shop so we had a nice chat, he suggested better ways of rolling my bike backwards down steep hills, and had replaced a broken turn signal cap free of charge. Bill at Quality Motorcycle is the best! I bought my 1982 Suzuki 1100 E at Motorcycles Unlimited in Corte Madera in the 80's, and about ten years ago they refused to work on it because it was too old! You won't find a better motorcycle mechanic in Marin County! Fair priced, years of experience, and fast - definitely a go to for your motorcycle troubles. I have stopped by here to replace my rear tire for my V-Star and was satisfied by how fast it took. Appointments aren't required, however very appreciated. Mechanics should take lessons from Bill D. He is honest, and a true expert when it comes to motorcycles. I had a great experience getting my little scooter serviced, the owner Bill is as nice as they get, honest, fair, and really looks out for the interest of his customers. He told me he was normally very busy, about two weeks until the next appointment, but managed to squeeze me in to solve a potentially dangerous gasoline leak, because, even though that was a small job, it could be catastrophic. Bill is amazing. He works really hard, and is an expert at what he does: motorcycle maintenance and repair. I while ago, I took my bike to him with a flat. He repaired the tire immediately and I went on my way. I took the bike back to him the other day to get the chain and sprockets replaced. My 13 year old bike feels like a new machine. Awesome. I've taken my BMW motorcycle to Bill Dietrich at Quality Motorcycle since 2006. His prices have gone up a bit, but he still delivers exactly the level of work I need. He never tries to sell me more than I have asked for, and has been incredible at quick service. I had waited for up to several weeks for BMW SF to repair my bike, but Bill almost always gets the work done the day I bring my bike in - and I rarely call ahead of time. Bill just did a great job swapping some supermoto wheels onto my '99 Yamaha WR400F! I bought a used set of wheels on craigslist that were originally mounted on a YZ and from what I had researched should have bolted right up. Long story short, they didn't. Bill custom machined some wheel spacers for my bike from KTM parts he had on hand and got the wheels to fit perfectly. When I picked my bike up he told me about some other issues it had and how I could fix them myself to save some money (he also offered to do the work himself if I wanted). He then went on to totally UNDER CHARGE me for the work! Whenever I have motorcycle work that is beyond my abilities I will take the bike to Bill. read more

If like me you appreciate having work done competently and being treated fairly, this is a great local resource. He's done work on my Kawasaki W650 (decidedly old tech) and on my newish Honda Interceptor and both visits were as scheduled and fairly priced. I needed a battery in a hurry and called Bill. He had the battery and said if I'd give him a couple of hours he'd have it ready and charged. Because it was local, I didn't bother asking the price, but figured he deserved a fair profit for having it in stock. To my delight, the delivered price was just $10 more than I could buy it on Amazon. He's a one-man shop, so don't visit him with the idea that you're going to get a half hour of bench racing conversation as he does not have the time. It is truly a pleasure to deal with a straightforward business, particularly when the moto repair field has its fair share of bad/incompetent/overpriced mechanics.
