The R7 Goes In for Its Break-In Checkup…read more I just got the new 2022 Yamaha R7 back from Wheelsmith Racing and it's running like a dream. Raul Meono had it in and out in a day and had some nice things to say about the R7. In particular he noted how light it is and how straightforward the valve check and other items were. I first went to Marc Salvisberg's Wheelsmith Racing with my new 1989 Yamaha FZR600. Raul had started at Wheelsmith in 1981 and his brother, Otto Meono Solis, joined Raul in 1990. In recent years Marc has done the dyno tuning on my bikes, but since I first brought the FZR in, all the other work has been done by Raul and Otto. Every single time in the past 32 years their work has been perfect and delivered exactly when they said it would be. Also, Raul and Otto are two of the nicest people you're ever going to meet and it's a pleasure just to see them. And it's not just me; their customers love them. Here are the Yelp reviews: https://www.yelp.com/.../wheelsmith-racing-san-rafael-san... I was greeted by Liz at the front counter who was not only very kind, patient and accommodating, but also very direct. I respect a shop that is no BS. In addition to this, their prices are somehow pretty decent compared to other shops in the area. I was skeptical (how can this shop be so good?!). Jose installed a new tire in under 15 minutes for a wheel that I brought to them. When my girlfriend's motorcycle would not shift into neutral the day before I was meeting with a new buyer - Jose and Liz saved my butt. They were direct, gave a rough quote and a timeline so my expectations were met and I was not left guessing when the job would be completed. Turned out the transmission needed a new shifter fork due to the accident. In no time, this was sorted out. They gave the motorcycle an oil change and minor alignment. They were even kind enough to help us with the paperwork for the sale of the motorcycle. Everyone left happy with no surprises. If you want top notch customer service, decent pricing for the bay area and quality work - go to Pro J's. If you are willing to settle for less, pay more in the long run and probably wait a lot longer than I did - go somewhere else. Thank you, Jose and Liz!

I emailed Factory Pro and Marc got back to me right away. He told me to get a PCV and if I wanted it really dialed in, a fuel controller module to pair with it. I bought both and delivered my bike w/ parts to FP. About 4 days later Marc called and said, "it's ready, and it's running really well!" I rolled up there the next day and took it for a test ride, and he wasn't lying! Holy S**T! It felt like an entirely new motorcycle. The throttle delivery was smooth at all RPMs and I could tell right away that it was breathing better and had more power. It was low on fuel after the dyno runs they did, so I took it to get gas. When I merged onto the freeway I gave it the beans and took off with the front wheel waving in the wind! No clutch, and in 3rd gear, it easily wheelied under 3/4 acceleration. Needless to say, I was stoked! I got back, thanked the crew for their excellent work and loaded the bike for home. Factory Pro was quick, extremely professional, reasonably priced, and they know how to properly tune motorcycles. I will definitely be using their services again in the future.

Kirk sells the dream like he sells excuses. I want to say Kirk built me a bike but really he built…read moreme a liability. Not only a liability that rarely runs and often leaves me stranded and from day one had a wobble no real builder would have allowed out the door. Both statements Kirk cant dispute because he's aware of the wobble and he's also picked me up twice on the side of the road. I spent 60k cash with Kirk on a FXR build. A build in which he chose to reuse old parts when he charged me for new and even worse had an open check book to get what was right. The bike Kirk built has essentially been torn down and built back up revealing mediocre work that most would call a hack job. Motor, trans and rear wheel way out of alignment. Brand new s&s motor leaks. Once opened up it reveals a caulking job of gasket sealer. Original motor mounts and rubber goods reused. Wheel bearing and neck bearings incorrectly installed or didn't have the knowledge of the correct size to install. The high end Italian calipers he had to have both leak, the wheels were chromed then dremelled out so the bearing would fit. Obviously this isn't the correct way to get an exact fit. This bikes never been over 70 mph safely due to the wobble and incorrect parts. The list goes on and on. I've reached out to Kirk through calls and text both not getting any ownership or support. Sadly this is one of many Kirk Taylor builds that's problematic. I understand growing pains with new builds but I don't get or accept hack work, cutting corners and reused parts from a 1990 Harley Davidson. I would have been good with accountability and ownership. This shop doesn't not possess that. Shitty to run Kirk like this but the reality is the product speaks volumes and all he had to do is communicate with me what he needed or a simple apology that he build me lawn art

My review of this business is long overdue, but I believe it is important to share my experience so…read morethat other Ducati owners can make informed decisions. Several months ago, I brought my Ducati 800SS to this shop for service. The work performed included an oil and filter change, cam belt replacement, safety inspection, and other maintenance items, for a total cost of more than $1,400. At the time, I was recovering from multiple eye surgeries and was unable to ride the motorcycle myself. A neighbor assisted me by transporting the bike to and from the shop. When the service was completed, Lawrence contacted me to arrange pickup. I explained that I needed time to coordinate transportation with my neighbor. He informed me that if the motorcycle was not picked up within two days, storage fees of $150 per day would be charged. Given my medical circumstances, I found this response disappointing and lacking flexibility. After retrieving the motorcycle, I immediately noticed that it was not running properly. The bike lacked power and did not shift smoothly between gears. I contacted Lawrence and was advised to continue riding it, with the expectation that the issues would resolve themselves. After approximately one month, the problems persisted. When I called again to discuss the situation, I felt my concerns were dismissed, despite explaining that I had recently undergone a cornea transplant and had limited ability to ride the motorcycle. I requested that the shop inspect the bike and address the issues, but was told I would need to pay for additional diagnostic work. Since the motorcycle had not been operating correctly following the service, I was disappointed that there was no willingness to verify whether the issues were related to the work that had been performed. As a result, I sought a second opinion from another Ducati specialist. During their inspection, they found that the throttle bodies were out of synchronization and that the fuel lines had deteriorated. After replacing the fuel filter and fuel lines and correcting the throttle body synchronization, the motorcycle ran exceptionally well and performed like new. Based on my experience, I found the customer service lacking, felt that my concerns were not taken seriously, and was disappointed by the shop's unwillingness to stand behind its work. While others may have had different experiences, I cannot recommend this business based on my own.

This shop has all the tools you need to wrench on your motorcycle and is located in a quiet corner of Treasure Island. It's a major plus for riders living on the west side of the bay as we do not need to pay toll to get to the area. Plenty of parking out front! Since the Valve Adjustment workshop is an advanced workshop, I highly recommend, especially for sportbike owners, to know how to dismantle your fairings alone. The instructor will not hold your hand during that process. Perhaps due to being a small class, me and another rider only, the instructor helped me remove the gas tank (I've never done it before surprisingly). Otherwise, they do mean it when you need to get to your valve cover alone or at least know what it is and what to remove to get to it. Therefore, I'd recommend at least knowing basic maintenance or have done it before on your bike before taking the advanced workshop. I cannot speak to the beginner workshops as I have never done them before but from this workshop, I gained plentiful knowledge, there was ample time for questions, and feel more confident getting to the valves by myself now. Lawrence was patient and explained everything clearly. I'll probably be coming here for future maintenance needs when I don't have the tools at my own place to do the job. It's well equipped and the lift makes a HUGE difference on my lower back. Consider taking additional courses here if you have never done any maintenance on your motorcycle!
