I have a scooter that suddenly wouldn't start, and to be honest I do not know much about repair or what could be causing the problem. After seeing how many positive reviews this shop has, and the fact that they are so close to my house, I gave them a call. I explained that my scooter will not start, but sometimes it does if I keep trying, and I assumed there must be something wrong with the starter button. Right off the bat, the guy on the phone, seemed irritated with me, and said "how am I supposed to know what's wrong with it if it starts sometimes?" It wasn't just what he said, but he was super rude when he said it. It seemed like he was annoyed with me, and I barely spoke to him for no more than 2 min's. I thought to myself, isn't that what you're supposed to figure out for me? I was completely caught off guard, and I just said never mind, thank you anyway. If you have a Vespa, Kent is your go to guy. My Vespa was long over due for a tune up and brought my bike in. There were a handful of other issues I've been noticing, like a lag the throttle, a rattle in the under carriage, etc. Kent went above and beyond the routine oil change and was able to quickly diagnose the issues and through his inspection caught a few other problem areas. The ignition switch was tampered and the bike was almost stolen. I called many places and Kent was extremely helpful. He explained how using a toggle switch might not work because of security measures used by manufactures in great detail. He told me what he thought was best and that it should be our last option of getting the bike to work. He was going to try and get the thing blocking the key out and see if we could use an after market ignition to get the bike to work before installing the toggle switch. All the positive reviews are true! Kent is the man to see if you need work done on your bike. Recently (after my own failed attempts to properly mount some Pirelli Rosso III's) I went in for a tire mount and balance and Kent's prices were the best compared to all the shops and garages I called in SF. I had actually damaged some of the rubber on one of the tires in my failed attempt and Kent looked the tires over with me. He gave me realistic expectations on whether or not the tire would still be usable but in the end it all worked out thanks to Kent. Beyond that he has a great personality and will take the time to explain the work that will be done. He also gets his work done on time which we can all appreciate. If he's really swamped he'll let you know, but he was able to get me my tires mounted and balanced the same day within a couple of hours. Kent is great. I had an electrical problem in my Aprilia Sportcity scooter that the larger dealers couldn't quite diagnose. One large shop said I needed to spend about $750 for a new stator coil for the magneto, because they couldn't think of another reason the battery would keep running down. Kent did a few tests with a voltmeter, and said he needed to open it up to investigate, for a nominal sum. The next morning he called and said it was just a problem with the connector from the stator to the regulator, and he replaced the connector for $175 and the bike has been great since then! Some of the larger dealers don't have time to figure out the cause of a thorny problem, but Kent seems to have a knack for figuring things out, so I'm very confident in him. read more

I've been bringing my scooters here for the last 5 years and have always been very pleased with their level of service. My most recent visit was due to a self inflicted over torqued spark plug that broke inside the cylinder head. I called Ken and explained what happened. Now, keep in mind that most mechanics wouldn't want to fix another persons screw up but Kent was positive and told me to bring it in. I towed it in and a few hours later he called me to tell me he got it out. I was ecstatic! I couldn't believe he could do it and was already anticipating major work. Kent went on to ask me several questions about the scooter namely: plug choice, oil type and viscosity, etc.. I picked it up the next morning and Ken was once again accommodating as he explained some key take aways that I should be on the lookout for. I've got a sr400 that I'm working on as a passion project and when I called asking if he could help me with rebuilding the engine he told me "I don't think you could afford it". Literal words out of his mouth. He didn't even have the respect to hear me out first. He didn't ask anything about why I was doing it or my goals. Just told me that I couldn't afford it. I don't care how "fair" he is or how much he knows about motorcycles that's just straight up disrespectful. To clarify, I told him that I was willing to pay whatever the price because it's my passion project & he told me to just take it to another shop. Kent is the best motorcycle mechanic with a super sweet heart. I am a beginner rider, and I ride a Chinese scooter called iIbello. Most mechanics call my scooter a "nightmare" scooter because it is hard to work with (lol). He has worked on my scooter a few times, but never the same issue. Kent is also honest with the price. He never charged more than what he said. Here is my story. One time, he quoted me $120 for the maintenance of the scooter and changing some bad parts. We thought the work will finish in an hour and half, but he had to spend almost another hour to finish the work because it is a "nightmare" scooter. He had to take down all the parts to get this one part which normally is very easy for other bikes, but he did not charge me more than $120. Kent has so many knowledge about the bikes, he gives me good advice on motorcycles that I am looking for. I strongly recommend him to all the riders and people who wants to be a rider. This is my first review on yelp, and I've had yelp for a long time now. I brought my vintage Suzuki F50 in to Kent's shop a couple of days ago, and he took a look at my scooter and seemed excited to work on it. That same day he called back saying he had cleaned out the gas tank and the carburetor, but still had some more issues he wanted to sort out. He spent a good 15 minutes on the phone with me, detailing everything along the way. The next day he calls and tells me he took it for a test ride, and that it wasn't running at full performance, so he wanted to hold on to it for awhile longer. At this point, I was already sold, this guy cares about vintage scooters, and thinks of them as puzzles to solve. He held on to my scooter for a couple more days, and now it is running better than before I bought it. I couldn't have picked a better place to go. Thanks Kent!
