We get quarterly maintenance service which happens with no involvement on our part. Since our house was built more than 25 yrs ago, we get occasional heavy rains that carry mud/debris down our drive and jam up the track. Late this past summer, we finally asked Quality Gate could help. They said yes but that were slammed with business but they were able to break the job up into pieces and completed everything before the heavy rains we have experienced. Don't know where to start but my wife had them come in January io fix the gate and after resetting a button it worked fine and the guy was nice enough not to even charge her. However , it stopped working after a couple days and he came back out and charged us this time $125 for the service and said he needed to check on parts. We got a quote from them for close to $900.00 to fix. Well I was out of town for some time and the wife didn't want to spend the money until I got back. Once I got back in town I decided to use a guy I had used before and low and behold it was just a battery problem that went unnoticed by the Quality technician. I called Quality to ask WTF and I was given some song and dance the battery wouldn't last long . Blah blah blah, It's been 6 weeks now and the running joke in the family is "the gate is still working." Yeah it's working fine now without a $900 "fix" Though I'd update my review. $1000.00 in repairs over last 2 years, gate still not working.. Tech Tim came 5 times billed another $660.00 gate still not working. Now quoted $1260.00 to move solar panel! We had two other companies check our gate. One did some repairs, worked for a while and then when it quit again and was called set date and time and no show, second company didn't check anything just said our unit was old and no parts were available and our best option was a new system ($5500+) We called Quality Gate, they came when they said, checked the entire system, found the problem, did the repair. Larry has been out twice for work on our gate. Both times, he went above and beyond. We are extremely happy with his work and highly recommend this company. This time it was an issue with the keypad. When code is punched in, it says access granted, but gate fails to open. Larry worked his magic, and in no time had everything working. We received an email with the invoice attached, so easy peesy payment. Happiness is being able to walk to the mailbox and not be worried that the gate closed and the only way to get back in is to scale the gate! I believe that a company review is based on the moment a conversation begins to job completion if they are in fact hired. I can't even recommend this company for hire since my first interaction with the owner, Kim, what awful. Here's what happened: I called yesterday morning about 8am to schedule an appointment for Our driveway gate repair. Our gate had completely come unhinged the day before and since it's a a rental property we needed it fixed right away. The receptionist responded that she didn't think they could get someone out until Monday (yesterday was Friday). I explained the urgency and she put me on hold to check with someone else in the office. When she got back in the phone, she apologized for the hold and explained that she was new so to bear with her. No problem. She then asked if I could send pictures, which I did immediately. After that, she told me she would be able to get someone out for sure after noon but she couldn't give me an exact time. That was fine with me. Then she asked for my credit card and wanted to charge me $125 for a service call. I told her I work with a lot of contractors and never pay for estimates. She checked with her supervisor once again and said the could collect a deposit should I decide to have them do the work. Good to go. I arrived at the rental house at noon and proceeded to wait. At 3pm, I got an email from Kim, the owner. No phone call, just an email letting me know that they were booked for the rest of the day and would not be able to come and and she wished me the best with my repair. She said nothing about rescheduling. I responded to her and let her know that I had been waiting for the last 3 hours and that I was disappointed. I let her know that this was not good customer service. She responded defensively, saying that I had NO appointment and that since I sent pictures in lieu of paying a service fee (not true) that they had no intention of coming by. Not only that, she said they didn't receive my pictures until 1:21pm. Again, I sent the pictures right about 8:10am, but for some reason they didn't reach their server for several hours. She went on to say that there are no companies out there who do not charge for estimates and service calls (again not true). So, my overall impression I was left with is that the receptionist was way more helpful than the owner and since she was new, probably didn't want to get in trouble for over-extending. Who knows what she told Kim, but the facts remain. They blew me off quite rudely and set me back not only one day but 3 days since most companies don't worry over the weekend. And I should also note that Kim made no apologies for the fact that I waited over 3 hours. All in all, it was more like 4 1/2 hours wasted yesterday with drive time included. My recommendation is to not waste your time with this company since there are other great gate repair companies out there who get it right from the onset. You want a company that is reliable and one that communicates effectively. Quality work is also important but if the initial experience is so bad that you can't even get to that point then would you really want to hire this type of company anyway? For me, great customer service is just as important as quality. I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

So, I'm reading reviews of another gate repair/install company, and they are not bad.. mixed, but they charge $175.00 on you credit card just to secure an appointment. Charged before anyone even shows up...$175.00 The only other one that appeared reputable, and when I called knew what Elite Automatic Gate are , was Quality gates. Called on Friday, got an appointment on Monday at 1:00 PM to look at my slave side Elite that's had stopped operating. I already checked all breakers, gfi's, etc. Anyway, no deposit, no credit card, just an address and email address was all they required Larry, showed up on time, in 20 minutes figured out the short in the wiring on the board, fixed it, gave us some advice on the system ( 20 year old dual motor elite, cantilevered , magnetic and radio controlled double swing gate- not cheap slide- swing, up an incline) and fixed it. Sent me an invoice for $125.00. Are you kidding me? That's all? And with no credit card to secure it? Old fashioned values, top notch service. Had a liftmaster gate issue to which the arms were bent and needs to be replaced from a delivery van . What needs to be said .... the initial call with Kim , explaining our issue and being a recent homeowner . Kim is Fantastic and extremely professional . First, a bit of background. Quality Gate Company was actually the third company that was called to fix the gate. The first two calls were made by the former owner of the house. One company was a complete no show. The second declared that the gate needed a new connection run to the house and quoted thousands of dollars to do the job. I moved in last week and contacted Quality Gate. They were responsive and called back to set up an appointment with Tim. Tim arrived on time and after asking me to explain what was happening, started working. Within an hour, he had the problem diagnosed and told me what was needed. 20 minutes later the gate was working perfectly! He was thorough and explained to me what he did and why. I have used this company on many occasions. They have installed, serviced and repaired serval gates for us on 3 different properties. Absolutely a joy to work with. Kimberly has been an excellent point of contact for us and just gives it to us straight. Our favorite kind of business. Installation of our last job was incredibly difficult. The ground was horrible to work with. We had issues with power, gas and electrical. The ground had varies kinds of rocks and nothing was even or easily accessible. But they were 1 of 4 companies we had out and they told us from the beginning what the project would look like, how it would be done, how long it might take, and what kind of costs we where up against. They were not the cheapest but we dont shop for cheap. We shop for who is capable of doing the job to our liking and is fair priced for what we are asking. They have always been there for us when we need them and we will continue using them in the future. read more

The problem for me is that I was required to give a credit card upfront for service and I still do not have the problem solved. I was told I needed to call someone else to fix my issue, so essentially I have lost money and will have to spend more to hopefully find someone who knows what they are doing. I had multiple quotes, but Quality Gate Co seemed to be the most professional and gave me the most sense of knowledge and comfort of knowing it would be done right. They repaired an old gate motor and installed exit loop, fixed a keypad, and other misc gate repairs. It looked very well done. I only deducted a star because the paint job on the gate was not great and didn't hold, but they did what they could to come to a reasonable resolution in the end as the gate rollers were a problem for the paint retention. read more

Called Quality out for a electric gate repair. The tech spent the hour trying to figure it out. The tech said it would need a whole new circuit board and that they could not even order the part. They said the only thing they could do was to replace the whole system. So I called out another company which replaced a fuse and found a bad electrical connection in minutes. $170.00 and it works as good as new. read more

I had a brand new door king operator installed after only 6 months the on off switch went out, they came out to take a look at the gate and said they would warranty the part but not the labor and it would take a week to get part from the factory ? I was very disappointed I have dogs and they could get out , And I live near highway. I ....asked them if they could get a basic switch and fix the problem they said no it would void the warranty so I had my electrician come out and change out the switch it was a 2$ part he did it in 5 minutes. Finally when switch came in I told them no thank you. I had it done after they left , I could not have my gate left open for a week while I waited on them. This happened a few months ago , I recently called them because my gate stopped working, they told me the owner instructed them not to help me due to an unpaid invoice ? Lol , I called another company they came out right away and fixed problem right away they said that whoever installed the gate had it wired in correctly . The gate has been working fine , it seems as though quality gate does not stand behind there work and don't believe in ever warranty the work that is done . They feel that they should still be able to bill for technician even if parts fail . These folks have come out twice, first time about a year ago after a do-it-yourselfer handyman type came to "fix" the motor on the gate. Quality Gate found he had used indoor coax cable which shorted out after the first heavy rain. They fixed it right up and it even worked from down the street, which was great. Second time was after improper maintenance (by me) which allowed bearings to seize up and gate to jump the track. Quality Gate came right away, fixed the gate then showed me the proper way to grease chain and wheels. I would highly recommend Quality Gate Company. read more
