Before selling, the car was generally clean and vacuumed, but not detailed. When I filed to sell the vehicle with CarMax online, I felt like the top-rated self-appraisal "like new" condition was the most accurate, even though there were the tiniest blemishes on the vehicle if you really looked for them. I was very happy to see that CarMax, after looking at the vehicle in-person, evidently agreed, since they told me they would buy it for the online appraisal estimate price. The process was very easy and straightforward.

In less than two months, I started noticing the steering wheel vibrating when I was driving at high speed on the highway. I took it to a mechanic, and he told me that the tires were cupping. I called Carmax customer service, and we set up an appointment. I showed up at the place right on time. The guy in the customer service department couldn't find my name in the appointment list. Later, I learned that they've set the appointment at the wrong location. I tried to set a second appointment, but the guy behind the desk told me that there would be a fee charged for the diagnosis. I told him that this seems like an inspection issue, because the cupping tire issue is not something that could happen in a period of two months. But the guy behind the desk seemed completely unconcerned and didn't even bother to listen. I could tell he was clearly trying to get rid of me so he could go back to his things. My car is less than one year old, and I have only driven it for two months, and I am already spending money on it.

He took the time to physically go and lay eyes on the car to be sure it was there. I went to the dealership the next day with a time crunch. I wound up pivoting and test driving 3 different cars. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other buyers should know about my experience…read more I purchased a 2017 Audi Q7 from this dealership based on the condition they represented and the work they told me would be completed before delivery. When we arrived, the vehicle wasn't even available for a proper test drive because it was still being prepared. The sales staff told us we should go ahead and complete the paperwork because the vehicle could be sold to someone else if we waited. They also told us that if we drove it afterward and didn't like it, we could simply change our minds. Based on those assurances, we moved forward before having the opportunity to properly test drive the vehicle. We were also told the rear brakes would be replaced and the windshield would be repaired/replaced before we took delivery. Because of those promises, we waited about a week before picking up the vehicle. When we finally received it, neither repair had been completed. After taking ownership, I began noticing a significant vibration at highway speeds. I took the vehicle for a Maryland Safety Inspection, where additional issues were identified, including worn upper control arms. The rear brakes measured approximately 3/32", indicating they had not been replaced as we had been told. While further diagnosing the vibration, I also discovered a broken driveshaft bolt at the rear differential. This experience left me questioning how thoroughly the vehicle was inspected and whether the repairs I was told would be completed were ever actually performed. I understand that used vehicles can have unexpected issues, but I expect honesty and accurate representation. Customers should be able to fully inspect and test drive a vehicle before signing paperwork, and promised repairs should be completed before delivery--not simply promised. My advice to anyone considering purchasing here is to insist on a complete test drive, get every promised repair in writing, verify the work has actually been completed before taking delivery, and consider having the vehicle independently inspected.

Outstanding Sales & Admin Team, but Service Department Needs Major Work…read more I recently purchased a 2024 VW Atlas from AutoNation Honda, and my experience was a tale of two very different departments. First, the bright spots: The sales and administrative team were fantastic. My salesperson, Kavveh "Kevin" Azizsired, was absolute class and made his part of the process seamless and smooth. Ms. Lynh in finance stayed connected with me throughout the whole transaction; while financing through my own credit union took longer than it should have to finalize, she stayed on top of it and got the job done. Additionally, Ms. Delilah in titling was exceptional, her communication was proactive, and she made sure my license plate transfer went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, my experience with the service department completely overshadowed an otherwise great buying process. Four days after buying the car, I noticed severe, uncontrollable shaking when braking on the highway. I called to get it checked out, but after being bounced around, Ms. Lynh and Kevin stepped in to help me get a 7:30 AM appointment for Wednesday, July 1st. I arrived promptly at 7:30 AM. After sitting in the waiting area working remotely for three and a half hours, I realized no one had updated me. At 11:00 AM, I went looking for my assigned advisor, Ryan, who wasn't at his desk. A helpful female service advisor noticed me, stepped up (even though I wasn't her customer), and tracked down Moe from service. Moe was honest with me: my car hadn't been touched in 3.5 hours. Moe took ownership, took the car on a quick test drive, confirmed the rotor issue, and expedited the repair. However, between waiting for the work to be finished and getting checked out, I didn't leave the dealership until 1:30 PM. I spent a total of 6 hours sitting in the waiting room for a rotor resurfacing on a car I had owned for less than a week. My laptop battery died, and I lost nearly an entire day of work productivity watching other cars come and go. Bottom Line: Go see Kevin, for buying a car, he will take great care of you. But management severely needs to address the scheduling, communication, and workflow breakdowns in the service department.

One star. My experience with Ted Britt Chevrolet in Sterling, Virginia, was more than…read moreunpleasant--it completely sucked. I live in Massachusetts and spent a significant amount of time trying to purchase a vehicle from this dealership. I initially worked with a salesperson, but suddenly learned that he had been fired. After that, the entire process became even more confusing and frustrating. I was sent multiple versions of purchase and sales agreements that appeared inaccurate or misleading to me. It felt as though the dealership was creating excuses because they did not really want to sell me the vehicle in the first place. I already had financing approved through my own credit union, but the dealership would not provide the proper documentation my credit union needed. Instead, I felt that they were misleading me and pressuring me to finance through the dealership. I was also told that the title would be sent to my credit union to secure the financing. I later discovered that the dealership apparently did not have the title to the vehicle at that time. This caused additional confusion and made me question the honesty and transparency of the entire transaction. Because I was purchasing the vehicle from out of state, I paid out of pocket for a pre-purchase inspection at a Lexus dealership. Ted Britt Chevrolet gave me a hard time about arranging the inspection, even though it was reasonable for me to have the vehicle checked before traveling from Massachusetts. The Lexus inspection found problems with the headlights and the driver's seat heating and cooling ventilation fan motor. Despite these issues and the repair costs involved, the dealership was unwilling to offer a reasonable discount on the vehicle. There were also unexpected fees that were not clearly explained to me beforehand. The final straw was the general manager, who was extremely rude and told me that I should find another car. After all the time, effort, money, financing arrangements, and inspection costs I invested, I found the general manager's response completely unprofessional and disrespectful. This was a terrible experience from beginning to end. Based on my experience, I would STAY AWAY  FROM TED  BRIT CHEVROLET. Anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from this dealership--especially an out-of-state buyer--should get every detail in writing, carefully review every document, independently verify the title, and obtain a pre-purchase inspection before paying anything. Also don't let them bully you into financing with them
