We came in to try Filipino food for the first time. Food was very flavorful and delicious. The place is small and is pretty popular. Service wasn't too bad. It felt like a mom/pop business, very homey and seems like the customers were repeats. They knew how the system works. Only thing you need to be aware of is the hours of operations varies. This was our second attempt to eat here. The first time, they closed midday (4:30) for break and weren't opening again until 6 pm. This happened the second time, luckily, we came at 6. We also overheard the server informing another guest that their kitchen closes at 7:30 pm. Not sure what else they are serving until 9/9:30 pm as stated from the hours of business.

Amazing service and food! I've been here about 2-3 times now and the food is always top notch. Be careful of the lumpia, it comes out extremely hot, fresh, and delicious! I'd give it a few minutes unless you want to burn your tongue. I love the pork sisig ( could be a tiny bit more crunchy). I wonder what the white sauce on top is- i don't think i've seen any other sisig like that. For those who haven't had sisig before, it comes out sizzling with an egg inside and bits of pork + pork skin. I like to mix the egg while it's still cooking. This dish came with jasmine rice. I downed it all with refreshing calamansi juice (tastes kinda like lime). Hospitality is top tier

This was our first time visiting this place, and I'm really glad we came. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There is street parking available, and since we went on a Wednesday afternoon, we had no trouble finding a spot. We ordered the chicha pollo, chicken spring rolls, chicken sisig, and tortang talong. I really liked the chicha pollo because it was crispy and not oily or greasy. The chicken sisig was my favorite because it was full of flavor, well-seasoned, not soggy, and had plenty of meat. The tortang talong and spring rolls were also good. I would definitely come back to try more of their food.

Pleasant experience! A highly recommended filipino restaurant in Union! Quick and lovely service. Delicious filipino meals! Filipino vibes for interior design. Ample of spacing between tables. High chair seen. Debit/credit card accepted. Roadside parking or parking lots or garage nearby. See images and videos for reference.

We visited them on the way back home and glad we were able to. Parking can be tricky and may need a bit of luck to get someplace close. We got one 1 block away on a side street. The restaurant is a corner spot. Nice building, a lot of eating seating. The owner greeted us and took us to our seats. Nice and friendly, like an auntie welcoming us to her home. We ordered tortang talong, sisig, lumpia and lechon kawali. Calamansi juice and water. Tortang talog was mostly egg, not much eggplant. Lechon and sisg were also both good. Lumpia, was just ok. Service was great. Plenty of choices if you like home cooking style. We will visit them again. Recommended!

Food was great, definitely heavy and filling. The service was efficient, but not very attentive because we came on a sunday and they were very busy. We were also tucked in the corner because we didn't make a reservation (totally understandable!). The restaurant felt very cozy, and perfect for family lunch/dinners. The lumpia was amazing no complaints. The bagnet express was good, crispy pork belly with coconut milk, very heavy, but tasted great. The pork sisig was alright, not as crispy as other restaurants but flavoring was not bad. Would definitely come back and check out other items on the menu! Keep in mind, portions are big, meant to be shared family style.

Hands down, MY FAV FILIPINO RESTAURANT IN NJ!!! It's so good that I willingly drive 40 minutes to Union City to eat here, even though I live in an area with a lot of Filipino restaurants nearby. What I love most about Qsina 8 is that the food here is really high-quality - the serving sizes are really big, the ingredients are really fresh, there is attention to presentation and aesthetics, and everything is cooked with so much care and love just like how my Filipino grandma would make it. Sadly it's so hard to find these qualities in a Filipino restaurant nowadays- a lot of the Filipino places near me focus too much on quantity at the expense of quality so the food has become so commercial and lacks that homemade, cozy quality that makes Filipino food so good. But thankfully I can get all that I wish for in Filipino food here at Qsina 8!   I've been here a couple of times and tried a lot of things from here and honestly? I have yet to find a dish here that I did not like. But my special mentions will have to be the bangus sisig (THE BEST!), the kare-kare, and the sinigang. And the DESSERT? TO DIE FOR. Honestly, I can never choose between the halo halo, the ube turon, or the sizzling biko that more often than not, I end up ordering them during every meal lol   Lastly one of the things I love most about this place is the hospitality. Every time I eat here I feel transported back to the Philippines where people are so welcoming and always have a smile on their face. The staff here are always so friendly, strike up conversation, and never rush you through your meal no matter how busy they are. That is Filipino hospitality at its finest and it's the reason I will always be loyal to Qsina 8. Maraming salamat Qsina 8--see you again soon

A little on the pricey side but HUGE portions! The tapsilog was good and all the flavors mixed together well. The garlic rice was excellent and the meat was plentiful. The veggie roll was extra crispy and a good starter. The palabok was something out of my comfort zone but not bad at all! Service was great and the owner was super sweet.

I visited around 7 PM on a weekday, and the experience was very different from my first visit. Ruby (not Ruth, as I mistakenly thought before) wasn't there this time. On my prior visit, Ruby's service was warm, welcoming, and excellent, it felt like home, and that was the main reason I made the 45-minute drive to come back. This time, service was handled by Cecille (introduced as one of the owners). Unfortunately, the hospitality felt flat. It seemed like the staff, including the male person with glasses who took our order, were unsure and ready to wrap up for the day. The warmth and attentiveness I experienced before just wasn't there. Food-wise, I tried several dishes I hadn't ordered previously: kare-kare, laing, bulalo steak, pares, and lechon kawali. While everything tasted good, nothing stood out compared to similar restaurants in Bergen County. Ultimately, while the food is ok, the service experience wasn't "go-backable" for me, especially for a 45-minute drive. My rating is now 3 stars, based largely on the lack of consistency in service.

Popped into Qsina 8 for an early breakfast, and they didn't disappoint. They had a wide variety of silogs dishes (refers to a category of Filipino breakfast dishes combining sinangag (garlic fried rice) and itlog (egg) served with a variety of savory, typically fried meat dishes), which we devoured. The meal also came with unlimited coffee and hot chocolate. But what made the experience over the top was speaking to the restaurant's owner Ruby; by the end of the meal, I felt like she was my long lost aunt. She's very passionate about what she does, and it shows through her service. Highly recommend Qsina 8!

Delicious food and we plan to visit more to sample all their menu items! The staff are so wonderful and friendly and it feels like a family restaurant. Especially when they serve a giant bowl of rice, you know you're in the right spot. - Calamari: 4/5, big rings, a little crispy and chewy - Pork Lumpia: 4/5, small crispy little bites with sweet and sour sauce on the side - Grilled pork: 4.5/5, flavorful perfectly cooked pieces.. only complaint is they didn't give enough of it haha I want more!! - Fried Milkfish: 4.5/5, delicious flaky and crunchy fish paired with delicious sauces, seasoned very well and no bones - Kare-kare oxtail: 5/5, rich and peanutty and the shrimp paste pairs so well with the earthy sweetness of the sauce - highly recommend - Pork Sisig: 4/5, very rich and fatty, good chunks of head meat and regular leaner pieces - Bangus Sisig: 5/5, milkfish tastes soo good cooked this way - not heavy at all and the fish is super buttery and melt in your mouth - Oxtail Sinigang: 5/5, fan favorite sour soup - has all the veggies you need for the day and is a great rice thief - Bulalo: 5/5, another great soup with fall off the bone beef and flavorful veggies- the whole table enjoyed it - Sizzling Biko: 5/5, a GREAT dessert, enough for 2+ people.. it comes with vanilla ice cream, sizzling caramel and chewy warm ube rice cake - Ube Flan Turon: 3/5, not my favorite dessert but pretty shareable and big portions! Thnx for reading :3

    Halo-Halo: Excellent presentation

This is our first time visiting this place. The servers are awesome. The ladies are very welcoming. The decorations are plain. It does not make you feel like you're in a Filipino restaurant. However, the Filipino music is very soothing. The food is amazing. The laeng is excellent with the fried bangus. And the palabok is just incredible. Excellent presentation. For drinks, we had the kalamasi juice and sago and gulaman. Just right mouth of bitterness and not too sweet The Desert is amazing. The Sizzling Beco is well presented. The taste is amazing. The Halo-Halo is a must try. This is a must try place.

First off: Service. I told the employee that this was my first time there, and they were more-than-happy to help me make a decision for my order. Patient and walked me through. Second: The Food. Let's get into it. 1) Cassava Latte ($7.50) - I was so pleasantly suprised at this drink; described as "(i)nspired by the Filipino dessert cake, made with condensed milk and coconut." The first sip, and I was intrigued! It was perfectly sweet, and the perfect mix of that coconut-dessert taste that cassava typically delivers! It tasted genuine, if that's possible. 2) Sinigang Croquette ($5.00) - This was interesting. Described as "Pork and Gabi (taro) shaped into a patty, rolled in Japanese bread crumbs, and deep fried. Served with our in-house sawsawan (dipping sauce)", it hit all the right notes. To be honest? $5.00 for 1 felt a bit steep. I'd pay $7.50 for two, though! 3) Boy Bawang Shio Pan ($7.50) - This was the most curious of all my purchases. Described as an "(i)n-house salt bread rolled in garlic and corn crumbs, filled with roasted garlic butter, topped with corn cheese whip. Inspired by the popular Filipino snack: Boy Bawang. THIS ITEM I SING ITS PRAISES. I am an absolute lover of the Boy Bawang Garlic Flavor Corn Snack --- much more pungent than anything Corn Nuts could ever offer. This Shio Pan absolutely delivered with its roasted garlic flavor! And as soon as you take a few bites ---- you get hit with that roasted garlic butter --- and let me tell you, they are not shy about their filling! Absolute master class --- but it's only for a limited run. You should definitely try! Third: Ambiance - The Cafe is quaint --- and has a seating area that could maybe fit between 18-24 people? It's just along the side of the business, but I managed to get a table for myself. Ayala, you did not disappoint! Can't wait to try your Sisig Flatbread for the next round!

I had the sisig flatbread and the pork croquette. The sisig flatbread had very unique and complex flavors. I thought it was very creative. The croquette was fresh and tasty, but it was truly the sauce that came with it that was the star of the show. It bold and vinegary and tasted great with the sisig flat bread as well. I tried a bit of my friend's pandan waffle and it was quite tasty! I could really taste the pandan. Now the bad. The ube latte was mediocre. I asked for mine with matcha, but I really couldn't even taste the matcha. I think next time I might try their other drinks to see if there is a difference. However, I was really expecting better. Overall: I'd say the food is better than the drinks, which is a bit of a disappointment because I was hoping for both to be out of this world. The service was good and the staff was very kind. I also enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant as well.

As I approached, I was ecstatic to see that it was a Filipino food truck and proudly wanted to support them and my heritage! I've tried a few back in Los Angeles, but they were very few and far between. Plus, we needed something to soak up all of the spirits we were consuming on this lovely afternoon. Would their truck represent and serve the Filipino community well!? QUICK BIO "You can get an authentic taste of the Philippines from Twelve in New Jersey! They are the first and only Filipino food truck in North east New Jersey. Their brightly colored, Jeepney looking Filipino food truck is affordable, delicious and always popular. They serve freshly fried lumpia (mini pork egg rolls), pancit (chicken with veggie stir fry noodles), BBQ skewer (chicken or pork on a stick) and other traditional Filipino recipes, plus some really innovative/fusion entrees & desserts. Folks can also get their fill with the help of their Catering Service. They'll bring the food, and some friendly staff along too. They promise that Twelve will leave everyone saying 'Salamat!'" PURCHASE 8pc Pork Lumpia ($9.00): Savory snack rolls made of thin crepe pastry skin called "lumpia wrapper" enveloping a mixture of savory fillings such as chopped vegetables and minced pork meat served with a side of sweet & sour chili sauce, these fat finger-shaped morsels were packed with stuffing and flavor and could've eaten more! The only knock was the average price of over $1.00/piece. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1lYIn7qk0FN9sCpO0o7Okw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Ube Macapuno Pudding ($10.00): The pudding was creamy and thick while the sweet macapuno strings and crumbled goodness added more texture and flavor contrast. A yummy treat indeed, but again a tad on the pricey side. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=xLDBWnmTOwxjB-67Ti7Apw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw SERVICE A friendly man greeted me as I approached the truck, he quickly took my order, and I patiently waited around for about 10 minutes before my order was ready. All was straightforward and greatly appreciated - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever the event was held. In this case, the event took place at Corgi Spirits with plenty of free onsite parking and spots seemingly along the main drag of Distillery Dr. and all nearby streets. Another option was a driving service like a bus, taxi, Lyft (we did this), Uber, or train (the closest light rail station was at Garfield Ave.) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with an exterior food menu, separate order and pick up windows, a small area for condiments, napkins, and utensils, no designated seating area except for the distillery itself, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while minimal electric street and truck lighting glowed at night. There were no TVs nor any background music except what was playing inside the distillery. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5Pj-V41BcL-hgmJah1Rc9w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I enjoyed Twelve (Food) Truck who provided me with "a taste of the Philippines". My concerns would be their extremely limited menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Yj1siAc3UdV52PFP7NzCNQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw and the relatively elevated prices. They covered the basics, but I felt it would be nice if they got a bit more creative and with a fusion spin on it like lechon street tacos, sisig burritos, or simply expanding the menu if the finances allowed for it. I appreciated that Corgi Spirits created a drink https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uqVKaX8w442My1UezurG2g&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw to complement their ube macapuno pudding dish. The food and portion sizes were good, and the service was easy and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $19.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

I had been aching to eat at a Jollibee for years but there are no restaurants in my state or any state near me so I was very excited to give them a try. I was greeted with a smile and when I told the girl at the register it was my first time to a Jollibee she was overjoyed and told me about each side I was thinking about picking. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The chicken was crispy and juicy and it was seasoned perfectly. They give you brown gravy for dipping but you don't need it. From what I'm told brown gravy as a dipping sauce is a staple in Filipino culture. I ordered the adobo rice and spaghetti for my side dishes. The rice was great the spaghetti will have to grow on me. The sauce was different and it had slices of hot dogs or some type of sausage in it. It wasn't offensive, it was just different. I restaurant was very clean and the walls held stories and photos of how Jolly Bee started and had plaques with awards the restaurant had won. The food far exceeded my expectations. So I ordered the chicken instead and an aloha burger for my BF. It was so busy when I got there and had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the order. It was short of chaotic; the staff were inundated with orders, and customers kept coming in. They never updated the tracking of the order to notify customers it's ready. So my order sat at the counter for an extra 10 minutes until I had to ask the staff I've been waiting for a while. Jollibee is quite consistent when it comes to their food. But I would avoid this location at all costs. They also have security at the door, so that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about neighborhood safety. The one positive is they have plenty of parking.
