We also really enjoyed the pancit and loved the texture of the crispy lechon on top. The lumpia were classic, crispy, savory and had a perfect chili sauce. Ambiance: this is a nice restaurant with ample seating. Everything was clean and the tables were set with plates for sharing. Service: our waiter was very attentive and our food came out quickly. Stopped in while running errands in Union, I was long overdue for some good Filipino food. We got there as soon as they opened on a Friday, and a few people strolled in behind us. The menu is mostly Filipino with a few other Asian style dishes. Tried the fried chicken skins, chicken lumpia, kare kare, and pork sisig for lunch. The apps were crazy crispy and so delicious with the dipping sauces. Pork sisig came out sizzling - the flavor was really savory and a little creamy from the mayo. The texture was softer than other places we have been to - my partner prefers this dish a little on the crispy side, but we still enjoyed the flavors overall. I've never had kare kare, so I wasn't sure how it was supposed to taste exactly, but I thought the peanut sauce needed a little more umami/depth of flavor for me. They did give a side of bagoong (fish/shrimp paste), which wasn't my cup of tea, but it does help add some umami if you're into it. The crispy pork (bagnet) on top was perfection though! For dessert, we were convinced to try the biko (sizzling sticky rice with caramel sauce and ice cream), and we practically licked the plate clean it was so good. We wanted to try a couple more dishes, and ordered the bistek and dry tingly cumin oxtail noodles to go. The bistek was extra saucy and the beef was super tender and so flavorful. The noodles (Chinese style) were not the thick hand pulled noodles I was expecting like Xi'an in NYC - they looked like knife cut. They did have excellent flavor and the oxtail fell off the bone (heat level was mild). They were out of lamb that day so I switched to oxtail. All in all, we would definitely return to try new dishes as well as most of the things we tried that day. I'm curious to try the other Asian noodles like laksa and beef noodle soup in addition to the Filipino specialties. The server was a little stiff at first but warmed up throughout the meal, and she helped us decide what dessert we should try. read more

Tried this place out with my mom on a random Thursday evening for the first time. The food was excellent! We had quite the feast--chicken bbq skewers, oxtail kare kare, sinigang na hipon and the crispy pata. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The crispy pata's skin was super crispy and tasty and the meat was moist and tender. The sinigang soup was very good--tangy with a bit of spice. The food came out pretty quickly and portions were quite generous. We were served by one of the co-owners who was friendly and welcoming. The building itself felt modern and spacious. Each dish is full of flavor and is cooked with love. Must tries include the beef tapsilog, oxtail kare kare, lechon kawali, and halo halo. The ambience is homey and clean. Most of all, the service is top notch and everyone is so friendly! I came to celebrate my friendly and they were kind enough to serve a complimentary dessert. Wow! What an amazing dining experience here at Qsina 8! My first time here and it will definitely not be my last! We were immediately seated and offered ice water and our server who also happened to be the owner was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and gave us a wonderful history of how the restaurant came to be. We had the sample BBQ Sampler, the Oxtail Kare Kare, Pinakbet, Lechon Kawali and Vegetable Okoy and of course rice. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. Tried this newly opened Asian Fusion/Filipino restaurant in the town center of Union in New Jersey, located on the first floor of a modern apartment complex. We were seated right away, the waiter and the owner were very welcoming and accommodating. The menu consisted of a variety of lemonades, bubble teas, appetizers, noodles, main entrees and desserts. We chose the mango dragonfruit and lychee lemonade for drinks, we picked the steamed pork and shrimp dumplings as appetizer, we had the pork sisig and grilled pork belly, each one comes with a cup of steamed white rice as our main entree. All were perfectly flavored and served piping hot. Service was really great even though the place was packed. The star of the meal is definitely the trio sampler, really recommend this dessert- not super sweet. It is a layer of cassava cake in the bottom with a layer of leche flan on top, then the creamy ube haleya on top. Really yummy! Me and my husband decided to give this place a try after a few of our friends have been here. It's a cute little spot located right in the heart of union. Staff was nice, but could work on being a little more attentive. They have a good amount of your traditional Filipino dishes, but I would suggest you coming with a group of people to be able to try different things. Prices are a little high but I guess that's what you get for a semi-upscale Filipino spot. I ordered the sinigang which is usually my go to dish one try in a Filipino place for the first time I always like to compare pair to my own cooking. I broth was pretty good but the pork could have been boiled a little bit longer to make it more tender. Had a little bit of a chew. Nice selection of vegetables in the sinigang . my husband ordered the bangus sisig which was pretty decent, a tad salty, the fish could have been a tad more flaky vs chunky and found a few bones. I also had a calamansi juice which was pretty good . Be patient with your orders as they do say it's made to order. I'm very impressed with this restaurant and its Staff and actually, my whole family as well. My brother, my brother in law, my nieces and me children. We came about the place one boring afternoon and tried the "bulalo " and "bagnet express". But first I started with a proper Sago drink; they got this pat down. A refreshing sweet drink. Bulalo is a soupy beef shank dish with bone marrow that tends to get kind of fatty. Qsina8's version was light with tender beef chunks and sprinkles of minced toasted garlic that rendered the broth so flavourful. Now our day was getting very interesting. When I had a taste of Bagnet Express, I immediately thought of my son who is fond of spicy dishes. The sauce was akin to "bicol express", but the pork bellies were probably boiled then deep fried, creating that crackling crispy skin. My sis in law remarked, "this is another level". So we cancelled our reservation from a different place and booked here instead to celebrate my kids' graduation. If you come here, do not miss their "sizzling biko". A sticky rice dessert served sizzling with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and drizzled with caramel sauce. An innovative way of elevating biko. The place was clean and modern; space was cozy. Shout out to Beverly, who was so personable and funny during our first visit and the nice couple who took care of us (18 people), efficiently 5 days after. In general. Like any kare kare (kah*reh kah*reh) anywhere unless its a fusion thing that somehow doesn't have peanuts. Also, kare kare is usually served with bagoong on the side. Bagoong is shrimp paste so if you have a shellfish allergy. You shouldn't eat it. Any bagoong anywhere is going to be shrimp paste unless it's some experimental fusion thing. I never eat kare kare with bagoong bc I really like the peanut butter taste so I don't like messing with that ever. Everyone is always like when I don't use bagoong. Drinks are interesting, wish I could try them all. Parking is tricky, but there is a pink tree across the street you should be able to park by and when the building across is finished they will supposedly have parking available for use. Qsina8 is on the floor level of a fancy apartment building. The doors to the apartments will have a touch pad - those have nothing to do with entry to any of the businesses on the bottom floor. As far as mobility device accessibility idk if I can say it's easily accessible. The parking confusion (it was our first time to go there) had us walking all around the building and there is a lot of sidewalk, but I don't remember seeing ramps. So just a heads up. The owner of this place should add more people to the service crew regardless of what day it is. I went there last Aug 3, 2023 around 6pm and there was only one lady taking order, serving and cleaning tables all at the same time! Reason why I noticed is that she is not smiling, looks exhausted, and seems like she is just dropping the orders on the tables. Went yesterday to try this restaurant on a rainy Friday afternoon and did experience some parking challenges but it was well worth it as the food was good especially the kare-kare. My son wasn't a fan of the ukoy (maybe he was making me feel good coz I make it at home ) but I did love the texture of how the ukoy was fried. Had the pork sisig too and patatim. I haven't eaten patatim since I left the Philippines- the taste was decent. The lady that served us was awesome and very friendly. Food are ok. Service is slow and can't keep up during busy hours. They gave us incomplete utensils. Ambiance is ok but table and chairs are too tiny. They only have street parking available. If you plan a group party, be prepared for the 25% service charge. So when you do a math when you give a tip 18% or 20%, you are basically tipping the total price that already includes the 25% service fee that they charged you. Ex: food + tax = $100 Service charge = $25 So if you give 20% on your tip, you'll end up paying 20% of $125 which is $25. Total amount you end up paying is $150.
