I never write reviews but I feel my visit today warranted one. I came in to grab lunch for myself and snacks for my client meeting. The older Asian clerk at the hot deli counter was pretty terse with me. When I asked for the biscuit that comes with the meal, he just told me they were out. No other options were given to remedy it. An older Asian cashier is checking me out at the 15 items of less line. I ask her if she can knock like a dollar or whatever off since there was no biscuit. She tells me that the deli staff are the ones with the authority to discount hot food items. Hey, that's great. I didn't know that's how it works there since I don't work there and no one cared to inform me. I'm not even out the door when within earshot I can hear this same cashier talking about me to the next customer. "Can you believe he wanted a dollar off for just a biscuit?" Look, I used several years as a restaurant server and one of the job perks is to talk shit about customers. But I also had enough tact to never let on to my customers that I was talking shit about them. I won't be coming back to this location again. And I'm definitely telling people in my office to avoid this location for their personal and catering needs. read more

I love this store and enjoy their sales. They are well below Marketime in Fremont yet more than Fred Meyer. For a neighborhood store they are clean inside the store. The parking lot could use daily litter pick up as well as the sidewalks surrounding the store. It says a lot if a business will spend 30 minutes a day picking up litter. On my last visit, there was a man laying down on the floor near some bottled water. He was decently dressed yet had unwashed hair and appeared to be homeless and on so much drugs that he could not raise his head. He was trying to get up and had several water bottles in his hands. When employees came to see if he was OK (no), he muttered "water." They called 911. Homeless are everywhere and QFC tries to keep them at bay by putting up shopping carts with chains to keep the alcohol thieves from running in the door, grabbing booze and running back out. A checker told me that management tells them NOT to intervene, as they might be attacked and hurt. Or infected. Keeping out addicts on drugs is another matter. As is addicts standing by the door, super aggressive in demanding money. They could have one of their in house security people tell the addict beggars to NOT stand on their property. Sidewalk only, NOT on property. Customers are starting to go shop elsewhere to avoid being accosted by aggressive panhandlers. Too bad. read more

This QFC has the most character of any other chain supermarkets. With the big "Wallingford" neon sign, ot it truly a neighborhood store. I work at Fuerte Fitness gym down the street and often come here for lunch Their Northwest Salad is a great taste and a good deal at $6.49. read more

I've popped into this QFC a number of times for last minute shops when I'm in the area. Though it's not anywhere near my home, I've managed to need things for events, picnics, etc and whenever I've been in a pinch, this QFC has helped save the day. It feels a little small than some other local grocery stores but magically they seem to pack it all in. Don't forget to check the upstairs more more aisles! The only struggle is finding reasonable parking. Most of the time you'll be subjected to parking across the street, which can sometimes be a pain if you've got a lot of groceries and it's raining, but overall this is a great place to shop in Wallingford. read more

The manager of this store should be ashamed of him/herself. Terrible service! There is never more than one register open -- even at the busiest times of day. The lines can be 10 customers long and it doesn't matter one bit to the management. Employees keep trying to steer customers to the electronic checkout machines, which are far less customer-friendly than dealing with an actual person. I hate this market but it is the only one close by. New management desperately needed. read more

Worst customer service ever. So when I went in at 10pm on a Tuesday I figured no one else would be in there. Apparently other people thought this too. I waited in line for 10 minutes while the check stand employee had a conversation with the customer. I'm glad they provide such stellar service to one person, but when there's a line of 8 people trying to get out, shut up already! I was literally next in line and it took me 10 minutes to check out. It wasn't waiting for people it was waiting for these 2 to finish their conversation. Unbelievable. read more

Okay 20 year-old checkout boy who went all "bad cop" when my fiance and I tried to buy a bottle of wine the other day, here's the thing: Never mind that when I turned 21 you were presenting a forged permission note from your mom so you could see The Matrix at Northgate Mall. Never mind that my fiance --- whose credit card was the one being used to purchase the wine --- had an ID proving his age. Never mind that, were he accompanied by a young child instead of an adult woman, you would have simply sold him the wine because that's not against the rules. And never mind that if this was a consistent practice in any way at QFC I would have simply waited outside while he bought the booze. I didn't have my ID, you're right. And all of the above facts I would have gladly ignored, normally, recognizing your desire to simply do your job. I'm a compassionate soul. I've worked in such environments before, and have been the reluctant enforcer of bizarre and arbitrary ordinances that benefit no one. But what really gets me here is your obvious glee at "busting" us. "That's the law and that's the way it should be" you said, as a red flush spread across your face. And when I couldn't contain my laughter, your eyes darted threateningly to the manager. Any way, you won, my friend. We walked a block and bought the wine at another store. But I'm watching you, buddy. Just know that I'm watching you. As to the other lovely employees of QFC, that you for your helpfulness and quirky conversation. It's always a pleasure. this QFC I like to use for the natural foods section. the section is huge and it is also upstairs. and if you want some coffee you can always head upstairs to the Starbucks where there is free wifi. one thing I would mention is that you should always look for sale items because to FC can be a little pricey. the bonus is that it's open 24 hours and they're always very friendly. read more

I will NEVER comeback again. I got a parking ticket issued to me because I didn't walk into the store directly. When I contact the store manager, I was told even if you were going to get money from the key bank before shopping you could get ticket for that. Be CAREFUL, you're NOT a QFC customer even if you shopped at the store. And also, the store manager did not seem friendly or helpful to me. read more

This grocery store is so convenient in that it is right between my bus stop and my house that it is hard to go anywhere else. However, the selection is very limited and produce is pricey (though this could be a Seattle thing- new to the area). If it weren't so darn convenient and I actually used my car more regularly, I might go somewhere else but it generally has the basics. I can always find what I really need (though not always what I'd like- naan? paneer? A bigger selection of brown cow yogurts? epazote? mexican oregano?). The reason this store is still going strong is definitely its convenience factor. read more

The location, staff, and 24-hour service is generally pretty good, but the store itself is cramped, expensive, and has a small selection. The produce aisles only allow for one cart at a time so it is nearly impossible to get anywhere or pause to select your produce without being in someone's way. The canned food aisles are just as bad. While I will stop by QFC for some milk or a few staples I drive to Fred Meyer for my weekly groceries. Although owned by the same company the prices are cheaper and the store is much larger and easier to navigate. read more

Although it's a nice looking store, I generally found the staff to be incredibly rude and unpleasant. Some of the people that work here have terrible social skills. It is in a nice area, though, and as far as QFCs go it's pretty well maintained. Still, I can't ignore the awkward weirdos that staff the place. read more

This has been my primary grocery store for over thirty years. I think they do a very commendable job for the amount of space they have. This is not a mega store like U Village, but it has good selection, quality and reasonable prices. I am a board member of the FamilyWorks food bank (and family resource center). This QFC has been very generous in their donations to us. They also allow us to set up food drives outside their front door. Thank you, Wallingford QFC, for being a FamilyWorks partner. read more

I always can find parking- usually in the lot about 10 feet across the street. I can pull in quickly from 45th- even with the 5pm traffic crunch and do my on the way home shopping. In and out is always what I tell myself- which they aid by having self check stands- but it never happens. I always graze by the daily cheese samples and wander the upstairs natural section. Sure the store is tiny, crowded,and just plain odd but I love the dinner time crowd and the whole experience.The store has some variety and a huge section of baked goods from all over the city. It is weird and not the nicest QFC but serves Wallingford well. read more

I dont use the word hate lightly, but i hate this QFC. I work in wallingford, so my coworkers and I go to the QFC by default during our breaks. and it sucks. everything is overpriced, for example their pirates booty is more than 3dollars, and trader joes has it for about a buck fifty. this applies to most of their stuff. they also dont have a lot of foods, like nori (seaweed.) Their produce is really sad, its all expensive (regular avocados for 2 dollars each, yow) and usually understocked and not that fresh. Pretty lame for a store that has the words "quality foods" in its name. The staff, however, make the place almost bearable, they're friendly and funny. But dang, a trip to a grocery store for my lunch break should not be costing me 20 dollars. read more

The one downside to this QFC is that it's smaller than most of the ones I've been in, and the lines can build up at the cash registers. Luckily for me, I do most of my shopping at night when the store is fairly empty. Other than that, I really have no complaints. I probably give them the best customer service rating out of any grocery store I've ever been in, all of their cashiers and baggers are very friendly and conversational. I really only buy their fresh meats and veggies; as far as I'm concerned, they have great quality and selection for both. read more

I've lived in the neighborhood for almost ten years and probably walk to QFC at least a couple of times each week in the summer and pop in maybe four times a week year-round simply because it is the closest and within walking distance and I strongly prefer avoiding driving. That said, if I could choose which grocery store was in that particular location, even with the small size, I'd easily choose Trader Joe's first, then Whole Foods, then any flavor PCC. On the plus side, there is reasonable produce, an organic and bulk food section, and a decent selection of WA wines, including a 'private cellar' room with pricier (and, as a wine collector, I will say good quality) wines. They also pour wines most days in the late afternoon, though admittedly in a pretty cramped space. I must agree that I would rarely go to their deli counter and would never buy from their seafood and meat counter. For staples like milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, bread, vegetables and fruit, it does the job. Oh, and I should mention that in one category they actually beat Whole Paycheck: roasted chickens. Believe it or not, theirs are both tastier and cheaper. Small bonus points for having a real Starbucks upstairs, if you drink Starbucks (I normally don't.) Bigger bonus points for the self-checkout option, which is normally faster there anyway. read more

So beautiful day in Seattle and why not have a little picnic! The deli was subpar, mac salad wiped out baked chicken fried out once we bought it, but with that said the loaded potato salad was food! Stopped by here on a weekday late night and it was actually still fairly busy. They have a lot in front, street parking and a lot across the street. This was my first time here since it was remodeled and I liked the set up of the place, however, everything seemed a tiny bit cramped. There's a lot of stuff in this QFC so in order to compensate, the aisles seemed a bit narrower than other QFCs. What sold me on this location is their UPSTAIRS! The upstairs is contains their natural food section which is fairly extensive, cards/books, and a Sbux. The natural food section has plenty of variety and a good selection of bulk foods. This is the only place i've come across (including whole foods) where they cary soy nuts in bulk. The quality of their fruit/veggies also looked consistent and healthy. read more

As far as QFC goes, this is not one of my favorite locations. The front parking lot is terribly designed. The store itself is very clean and has the products that most QFCs carry. I know some folks must like the upstairs design but I'm not one of them. It's a pain to trek upstairs for the rest of my groceries. read more

The recent remodel, while pretty annoying while it was happening, has left this QFC feeling much bigger, fancier and all around better. My only gripe is that they haven't seemed to figure out their signage yet. In the evening, they close their main door and direct everyone to the 2nd door. Too bad the door they want you to enter though is marked quite clearly "EXIT ONLY," "DO NOT ENTER," and "ENTRANCE that-way" (arrow pointing to the now locked door). I saw this and concluded the store was closed, since the entrance was clearly closed and the only other door was telling me to get lost. I love that they continue to be a part of the neighborhood and keep the WALLINGFORD sign above the building. QFC is a great Northwest favorite. Prices are sometimes on the higher side, but quality is also nicer. And when things are on sale, the discount is usually great! I like all the employees and they are very helpful. I was refused service by QFC attendant and her manager (James, at the Wallingford Seattle location). The facts are as follows: at the auto checkout station, upon my pressing the call attendant key the attendant. I was not being served. But when my neighboring station pressed the button, the attendant immediately stopped her conversation with a young man and proceeded to attend the needs of the neighboring station to my right; she then proceeded to serve the station to my left; she then went back to the young man again for some possible phone app thing; she still further served another station; and went back to her own station; ALL this without noticing my apparent need for help. ONLY at this time I started to request her to attend to my obvious needs. She reluctantly came over and haughtily asked me what do I want. Thereafter, I show her (or rather she ought to know the case). i.e. I scanned one pizza, but mistakenly entered numeral '2' therefore a double charge which ought be obvious to anyone who is NOT blind (the screen shows a double charge and there is only a single pizza in the checkout bin). At this juncture, the unthinkable occurred. She, the attendant refused to serve me, which is apparently her job. When I talked to her mgr, James, he took her side. And told me to leave. I am at a loss as to I should do or rather what can I do. I have been shopping at this location for years because of its 24 hr convenience. I wander why I was singled out for this inconvenience. read more

This is my neighborhood QFC and everyone is great. But I need to give a special shout out to Liam, the booze guy. He is so friendly, knowledgeable, and will even offer lower priced things if it suits your specific situation better (ex: at the holidays I was just buying my usual Bulleit Rye for some eggnog and he recommended one half the price and said hey if you ever want cheap rye this one is smooth and HE WAS SO RIGHT. I still love my Bulleit but if I am being cheap I know a good well to get). When I go and he is not there I am sad. Today I went and wanted some cheap vodka for a mix and he gave me some great recs. He was helping 2 gals before me and asking so many thoughtful questions and looked over to me and said something to the effect of "I promise I will be with you asap" and I said dude take your time I could listen to you all day and told the gals take whatever he says he won't do you dirty. By my work is a QFC liquor and yeah it has a bigger selection but while they are all nice, they are not Liam. I prefer to walk because parking sucks but will still drive in crap weather to go there. read more

Four stars for saving me $76 with the little QFC card over three shopping trips. Now, I don't know if they price things higher so that it seems like you are saving more, but they always have good sales in the meat department. I also like their set up - it's easy to do the "real food" loop rather quickly without much expensive fodder in between. When I try to stay around the edges in PCC for instance, I wind up in front of expensive cheeses and wine. Great yet not great when you are trying to get the essentials. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the extra parking lot is a savior. read more

Living in Eastlake there is no easy access to a good, reasonably priced grocery store. Options vary between the U District (Safeway and QFC) and Capitol Hill (QFC) as being the closest options. The Wallingford QFC is small and generally pretty busy, but the selection is good, the people are friendly, and the store isn't nearly as run down as the Safeway in the U. This will be my go-to grocery store for the time being until something pops up closer to home. Definitely worth the extra few minutes in the car to get there and parking is easy with the extra side lot. Don't forget the organic/natural/gluten-free items are on the second floor. This isn't well marked and something I entirely missed my first time visiting. read more
