It's a great walk in capital hill and a better/cheaper selection than city market. The only thing is you can find way better deals at grocery market. This place is best if you need some ice cream or healthier, fresher items than city market read more

I love this QFC, mostly because of the way it is set into its urban environment so elegantly. I am sure there are more subtly refined examples out there somewhere, but this space had been looking for a purpose like this for a while and now it's here. The integration from elevator through external doors to merchandise and back through checkout is really cool to me. But what this review really tallies four stars for is the beer, wine, and sake selection. They order all kinds of great stuff, even large-format bottles, and they will generally grab anything you ask for from the back room. Their prices are fair and they keep a big inventory. Very handy resource for when special releases come out and the specialty shops sell out too quickly. read more

Boy oh boy. Service here is terrible. I walked into what I thought was the main entrance. Apparently it was the back entrance. It clearly says this place is open until 11. I walk in at 10pm and was ready to check out at 10:02. The person at the checkout stand said everything was all closed here and I had to go through the main area. I looked around, course not a local, but thought, well this looks like a drugstore main area to me with checkout stands. I asked where the main area is, and the checkout guy LAUGHED. He said I snuck in last minute and couldn't check me out. In his eyes, I shouldn't have been allowed into this store that was open until 11. What an awkward response and how so rude. He just said, "there" and pointed into the wine section. This place is much bigger than I thought, with groceries and all but the checkout stand consisted of 15-20 self checkout stands. It was crazy. So basically, there is no service really since it's all self served. Then, to get to my car, I had to walk around the ENTIRE block just to get to my car near the back entrance. Just ridiculous. All the guy had do was say out of courtesy when I walked in, by the way, this door is about to be locked but we have another entrance that will be available until closing. Sometimes people just need to be considerate. Walking in the rain back is not ideal sometimes. There is not ample parking or a free lot around this store. read more

Well, QFC, three strikes and you are out. Strike 1: Price tags....I swear that is on sale. Oh wait, it is just a super misleading price tag that makes their high prices look like you are getting a good deal. I literally went back to check insisting on my life that the almond milk was on sale....nope, just the most misleading marketing in the world. Strike 2: How hard is it to get powdered peanut butter? Really? Why even have a label for it if you never have it. Killing my hopes. Strike 3: You really want to charge more for Greek yogurt than Whole foods? Fine, I'm throwing my stevia on the shelf and storming out. Good bye. Taking my business to Safeway. Why three stars? You can't negate that the huge store offers a pretty large selection -- especially with the sauces/dips/salad dressings. Plus, while I am mad at the corporation, the employees here have always been helpful and at no fault to them. read more

This is the absolute WORST QFC I have EVER been too. Tonight, I went to get my laundry soaps, dryer sheets and other cleaning stuff. I always go to the self check out when I can. Well this time the manager was lingering around me and kept looking over my shoulder while I scanned my items. I thought it was very strange but I ignored him and went on to pay with cash and got my receipt. I had my own reusable bags so I put my stuff away and went towards the elevator to get to my car that was parked in the underground garage. Right as I pressed the button for the elevator, I was physically grabbed by the security there. Two men went on to accuse me of stealing my sponges and my dryer sheets!! I grabbed my receipt and showed them what I had in my bags and the one security guy snatched it out of my hand, crinkled it in his hand and put it in his pant pocket!!! They both went on accusing me of stealing and even grabbed MY bags from me, took MY sponges and MY dryer sheets and kept yelling at me saying that I ALWAYS come in there and steak from them!! I went to grab my dryer sheets back and he yanked them so hard from me the whole box ripped open and they went flying everywhere all over the floor. Not one person, not even the manager even stood up for me even though the manager had watched my every move. So then I came home and told my husband and he went to go talk to them and those wacked out rent-a-cops had the nerve to deny taking my receipt from me! And they refused to look at the cameras even though my husband and I both suggested they do so. So, with that said, the people who work at this QFC and the security are a bunch of bully's and a bunch of jokes who don't know how to be respectful or be fair in their line of work. This store disgusts me. And on top of being wrongfully accused of stealing, I was in tears because I was so terribly embarrassed in front of tons of other shoppers. QFC YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR HOW YOUR EMPLOYEES TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I USED TO SHOP HERE EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, SOMETIMES TWICE A DAY, BUT I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK!! Excellent QFC location. Was my go to market when I was living on the Hill. It has about everything you would need if you are living in the area. Groceries, deli, bakery, florist, a Starbucks location, sushi bar, meat/seafood counter, housewares, a large wine/beer selection and a pharmacy. Plus the fact it is open 24 hours! There is also a parking lot under the complex, though I believe the lot is open certain hours. So you would not be able to park under if on a early morning trip here. Still, the selection of goods here is massive. It is one of my favorite QFC locations in Seattle. The other being the U-Village location. Thus, the best of the three locations on Capitol Hill. Aside from the parking lot hours, the only caveat I see other than maybe prices, is that it can sometimes be a seedy area to shop at. Still, the shopping ambiance and variety of goods here makes this QFC a winner. read more

I am *really* not a QFC fan, in general, because the stores near my old house were pretty lacking in selection (of what I wanted, they have plenty of things I don't want), and seemed higher priced for what they offered. Now I live near this QFC, so eventually I went in, as I don't have another real grocery within walking distance. Wow, this place is huge! Huge to the point of confusing! But they have some nice offerings, including an expanded cheese section and a bigger organic vegetable display. You have to buy your booze in the liquor area, so grab your goods then head up there. And check out the little 'snack' cups of things like chocolate-covered almonds, dried fruit, etc near the deli and check registers. read more

Not only is this place a good grocery store, but there is a decent priced and selection of wine...AND an entire small Target style shop on the bottom! This is a one stop shop for multiple items. Need to pick up celery and car accessories....you got it! The items in the "household" type area are a bit overpriced, but you pay for the connivence of having them there. Without a target or other similar store close by (other than Bartell's) this is an easy all in one stop. Their cheese selection is also phenomenal! And the pre-cut cheeses all tell you about them (flavor profile & what they are made out of). As a lover of both wine and cheese, this is a go-to for me! Had flu shot appointments at the pharmacy for my whole family. Showed up at the designated time and was told very matter of factly they had no flu vaccines. Seemed quite routine. It was explained that it was an "automated reservation system." I asked that they maybe try shutting that down or reaching out to cancel appointments they can't fulfill, but am not optimistic that feedback will go anywhere. read more

Why is the Broadway Market QFC even open at 6am? I wanted to buy detergent and toilet paper and was told "that part of the store doesn't open until 8am." Meanwhile the staff was just hanging around talking with each other. I walked up to Safeway and what do you know the toilet paper and detergent was open along with the rest of the store. In the end the money in my wallet went into the paycheck of the store whose employees provided good customer service. read more

Prices are skyrocketing while they remove things like the bulk section. They have practically militarized this store what with the full blown security checkpoint. Probably because nobody can afford to shop here any more. On top of that, the pharmacy no longer takes express scripts. I used that pharmacy regularly all year last year and not once was I warned that I would need to find a new pharmacy. Now I'm left high and dry with no meds because my doctor is the only one who can transfer my regulated prescriptions over to another pharmacy. Worse selection, worse prices, worse pharmacy, worse customer experience. read more

The only thing that saves this place from a one star review is the wide variety of groceries and non-food items available. It used to be a great store, which makes its decline even more aggravating. The customer service experience is bad in so many ways. One obvious problem is that the store has replaced almost all of its human cashier stations with self-service check-out machine. Those things are a giant nuisance for produce, or anything else that requires more than just a bar code to purchase. I know that the idea is to save money on salaries, but don't they lose a fortune to people who ring up expensive foods as cheap stuff, either to protest the hassle of self-check produce or because their honesty is partly dependent on the risk of getting caught? (Note: the risk of getting caught may be higher than it looks, so don't cheat.) Another hassle is that they got rid of customer toilets. This is the only grocery store for quite a large area of a pedestrian-heavy neighborhood. Don't people need relief after a long walk now and then? Sure, we can go to a Starbucks, but QFC's budget cutting makes extra work for the baristas, not just customers. One recent change that was just a one-time bother is the new parking system. Before, it was ticket in, validate in the store, and ticket out. Now it's a ticket machine at the door between the garage and the store, take a ticket, put it on the dash, and go back to the entrance. The one-time bother is that the sign quotes expensive parking prices, but doesn't say that one hour of customer parking is free. Now you know something that worried me. But don't worry; the machine has a free parking option that the sign doesn't mention. The worst recent change is the closure of the Harvard Avenue door. Sure, it's no big deal for most of us to walk around. But it's a big nuisance for a friend who gets around with a mobility scooter. If it weren't the only grocery store in a huge part of the neighborhood, and the last household goods store in an even larger area, no one would put up with this place. I'm not going back if I have a choice (Safeway on 15th, Trader Joe's, Pacific Supply for hardware, etc.). But my friend with the scooter is pretty much stuck with them. read more

This QFC has been so good to me for so long that I feel ashamed to be writing a review for it so late. I used to work along this area of Capitol Hill two years ago, often in the dead of the night. But thanks to this store being open 24/7, I always had food easily available, not to mention a bathroom. I don't even know the number of times I had to come in here to grab late night snacks. Chocolate milk and orange juice are my friends. Aside from the obvious food and drink, this QFC should have pretty much anything you need for normal daily purposes. It kind of has stairs (it's hard to explain) that go to another level, but I find everything I need on the primary floor. The store is surprisingly clean and the layout is friendly. My biggest problem with the store is that there are always homeless people loitering in front of it or people trying to make some kind of dumb political statements. Still, this QFC is much better than the one that is 0.6 miles south on Broadway. read more

I give the staff an (A), they're always nice and helpful. However, the store is often overrun by the homeless--who many times bring in their dogs. QFC has a no pets policy, but I often see dogs (not service animals) and even cats in the store. I love pets, but it's disgusting to bring your pooch or kitty in a grocery store, can't you just leave them at home or outside? There are tons of homeless zombies at all times in the store. An additional is that sometimes the produce is very subpar, other times it's good. Great people, great selection (including alcohol) and a Murray's cheeses section, but a lot of issues with homeless. Centrally located in Capitol Hill, this is an excellent choice to get something fast to eat while doing an urban hike in the area. Open until late, it is very convenient. If I lived here, this will be my grocery shopping destination. Vast array of cheese from different countries as well as wines. Spacious and clean, well lit and good customer service. Store stockers DO NOT understand bottling dates NOR do they check each deliverable shipment from Anheuser Busch the distributor. Many other beers are also on shelf 6-10 months old...DO NOT ASK policy exists at QFC for beer non-quality! Unacceptable since beer is transported by Anheuser Busch to US distributors with 6-8 weeks max. Somebody si tricking somebody and QFC management hasn't figure out how to qualify accuracy of beer NOR sell quality that is decaying. read more

Oh, how things have changed. I'm furious about my last experience here at QFC. I spent over $200 on groceries of all kinds about a week ago. I often bulk-buy groceries to last for two-week intervals. And I'm good at it, too. I know exactly what produce I'll have to eat first and what will last longer in the fridge, etc. I strategically look for produce that is a little on the unripe side so that I can get more shelf life out of it. I spend about 1-1.5 hours shopping carefully, looking at expiration dates, examining what I'm buying for quality. So, you can imagine how upset I might be when I bring home all my groceries and then ONE DAY LATER I'm throwing away about $50 worth of rotted produce and damaged products. Cherry tomatoes? Rotted in the middle of the package. Mixed greens? Also rotted in the middle. Pint of ice cream? Partially opened, so I had to throw it away. The list goes on and on. All in all it added up to about $50. And that's just after ONE DAY. And note that all the produce that was rotten in the middle showed expiration dates 5+ days away. And really, I've purchased more items on my 2-week bulk shopping trips to Safeway for a better value. I'm really disappointed in their lack of care regarding their customer experience. And even more disappointed that they don't seem to care to follow up when tagged about the experience on social media. read more

Horrible deli help! If you see the blonde lady with the black blossom hat,don't expect a lot if she happens to look up and see you . Rude and mean! Her Average sandwich making time, almost ten minutes!?!?! Wow!? They bicker amongst themselves and all with customers in ear shot. I HATE THIS QFC. Usually I wouldn't use such a strong word, but I really do hate this one. If it wasn't the closest grocery store within walking distance, I wouldn't go anymore. I'm definitely considering driving up to the Safeway on John St instead of going to this QFC. They are consistently out of stock and their prices are crazy. One week I came in looking for coconut milk and they're sold out. The next week they have 5 cans for sale at $5.50 each... I just drove to the Safeway and picked up a can for $2.19!!!! Each produce section is very small and I feel like I have to spend 5-10 minutes picking through nasty, beat up veggies & fruits before I find some that are mediocre at best. The last thing to push me to write this review is the service I received at the self checkout center the last time I was there. I pushed the call attendant button and after 2 minutes go by I start to wonder where he/she is. I turn and spot him chatting it up with someone looking down and pressing his little comp every once in a while and completely ignoring everything else. I watched for about a minute before I started towards him and he turned to look at me- so I waved and say hey I need help, and he proceeds to turn around and keep chatting. I'm not sure if they were in between a shift change or what but luckily another woman appeared and I was able to catch her attention to help me out. The only thing I've been really happy with so far is that chicken and bacon from the butcher counter are really cheap. Overall, if I don't have a ton of meat on this week's grocery list I'm headed to Safeway!! read more

My boyfriend burned his penis here. Er, wait, that's not exactly true. Here's the story. I bought some hatch chili peppers on sale. The BF started slicing them up to put on the grill. Without gloves. He then went to pee and five minutes later, his penis (and part of his balls) were ON FIRE! He was in complete agony for over two hours and all I could do was laugh hysterically and tell all my friends about it. And make bad jokes (singing "And it burns, burns, burns, like a ring of fire....") I did feel bad for him, but honestly, there was nothing I could do! I suggested he soak it in some milk, but he was not amused. At least I was! Ha. Oh, and the chili peppers were delicious and not that spicy, once cooked. You know... After 5 years of shopping here, this place continues to get better. Recently this store went under a large renovation to include a high quality deli with cute locally name sandwiches, a refrigeration section of quick, easy to prepare, local items, a massive new cheese selection complete with cheese experts and free samples, and of course a liquor store. Wahoo! So if you come here to get groceries you'll see the selection has only improved. Produce is among the best I've gotten in this city, prices are competitive (if you have a QFC card) and for me personally, the location can't be beat. Oh, did I mention free parking? **If you come during nights on weekends you get to shop to very loud Latin music coming from the Mexican restaurant upstairs. On the hill, it's easy to become desensitized to the needs of the average person. Sometimes this store seems like it's too busy for it's own good but I tell you, I've had several interactions with employees that just blew my mind. The attendant at the upper-level U-check insisted on sanitizing the machine before I approached it (thank-you, I hate germs) the cheese guy tracked me down at the check-out and gave me the sale price for some non-sale-priced brie since they'd run out of the advertised brand. (Wow, I didn't even have to ask). Plus, one really nice employee helped me track down some relatively obscure item (he was unsure too, I think) and kept me company till we got it secured in the basket. And they validate. This review is for the pharmacy. Worst experience at a pharmacy ever. It was 4:45PM. I went up to the counter and talked to Christy, the pharmacy tech. I said, "I want to drop this off, but I want to make sure you have it in stock first." It's a rather rare prescription, so I wanted to make sure they even had it. She said, "Well, we close in 15 minutes." I said, "Uh, okay?" She went over to her computer to check, and said to me, "What are you wanting here? Generic or what? What is it you want?" I said, "Generic, I guess. That would be cheaper." She made a whole big deal about checking to see how many grams the tubes were that they had there and trying to do some math to add up the grams. I pointed out that the prescription I have said PRN, which means I get as much as I want. She put her hand up to me and said, "SHHH. I'm trying to check on this here." Excuse me, woman. Do not put your hand up at me and shush me. I waited for her to finish her checking, and she finally said she would be able to give me half of what the prescription was for. "You'll have to come back another day to get the rest since I can only give you part of it." Whatever. Just give me some of it. I said okay, and gave her my two prescription insurance cards. Yes, I have two. One is Aetna, and the other is a Washington state discount plan. She said, "You have to pick one. I can't take both insurances." I asked why not, and she said, "No retail pharmacy will take more than one insurance. Pick one." I asked why I even have two plans if they won't take them, and she said, "Well, one must be your husband's plan. Just pick one." At that point, she had seriously pissed me off. I said, "Uh, I'm not married." I gave her the Aetna card. What does it matter if one was my husband's insurance plan? After she entered all of my information into her stupid little computer (she had to ask me three times to spell my doctor's last name for her), she looked at me and said, "Okay." I said, "So.. should I come back in a few minutes?" She said, "We close in 5 minutes and everything gets locked down. That's in 5 minutes." I said, "Yeah, so I should come back in 4 minutes?" She turned and walked away from me without even answering, so I turned and walked away from the counter. She was acting as if I was trying to fill a prescription for oxycontin or something. It was freaking skin cream. Give me a break. We did some very quick shopping, and then I went back to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription. This time, a man helped me, and he was pleasant enough. Christy walked over to me and said, "The rest of your prescription will be ready on Thursday." I just nodded. There's no way I'm going back on Thursday to get it. She can either send it to another QFC, or I'll just get a new prescription written from my doctor and go elsewhere. Forget that. read more

So being new to Seattle-literally I had been here for less than 7 hours when I came into QFC-My car hadn't arrived yet from NYC and I was the mercy of having a grocery store to walk to. Compared to a grocery store in NYC this place was bigger and more items to choose from the produce wasn't moldy or rotting and the prices were good. The reason that they didn't get more stars: Being very new to Seattle I noticed like many stores that had a shoppers card that I didn't have (and my NYC KeyFoods card wasn't going to help here). So I went up to customer service and asked if I could please register for a card...the woman looked at me like I was nuts and said they were out and I would just need to ask the cashier to use the stores card...she was rude, unpleasant and unhelpful). Well when I went to go checkout. I told the cashier what the Customer Service woman told me and then he pulled out a stack of cards? Then he put it through and he said "Would you like one?"...uhm yeah considering you were out like 2 seconds ago... Horrible service but many items to choose from this will not be my go to QFC but if I need something in a pinch I would come here. read more

I think this QFC sells everything except kitchen sinks and they might have one of those back in storage. I prefer not to do much grocery shopping on Broadway because then I have to carry everything back up the hill to get home. However, this is the closest thing to one-stop shopping on Capitol Hill. In addition to the usual groceries and sundry goods, I've bought felt to fix my windows, power strips for my printer, and super glue (twice!). The place can be kind of confusing, but there is logic to the basic layout once you get used to it: groceries = main floor, household/weird items = bottom floor, and the top floor is office/pharmacy/booze. The employees have always been nice whenever I've asked them for something, even if the store has so much stuff they don't know where it is either. They validate parking in the garage beneath the store which is also a bonus. And if you don't have too many things, the tip to use the self-checkout upstairs is golden! If you like day old cheap bakery goods, there are usually several large carts full in the back left corner of the dairy/cheese/yogurt area. read more

My new "closest" grocery store. I have to say for a QFC it is really well appointed and laid out. Yes, the prices are more expensive than a longer walk up the hill to TJ's -- but there is a lot more selection. Better produce, more cheeses (CHEESE!), more options for quick meals (frozen, boxed, etc) and a pretty above average beer case. Plan things right with their buy 10 deals and coupons and you can save the extra penny or 2 it costs to shop here. Employees are nice and patient. Also a plus -- this QFC is on several bus lines so I have like 5 options to get home if the weather is too shitty or I am just to lazy to lug my groceries back home for that 7/10's of a mile. read more

This is a pretty upscale QFC (as far as QFC's go). It offers a surprisingly wide array of goods beyond the usual grocery items and a pretty deep wine selection. It's much nicer than the other two QFC stores nearby and offers parking validation for the lot beneath the building. The central location on Broadway makes it pretty convenient as well. I do get disappointed sometimes when I'm trying to find certain products here, but then I remember that the stuff I'm often seeking (various local kombucha and other crunchy health foods) is not usually stocked at standard grocers. I guess I just need to get used to the fact that I am in a small minority of shoppers that wants these products or suck it up and drive over to PCC. Not all markets can be New Seasons I guess. That said, this QFC location beats the heck out of most other similar grocers and even other nearby locations when it comes to selection. read more
