An alternative to chipotle which I never go to ever since it gave me a really bad stomach virus once that knocked me out for a week. Food is pretty good! We ordered a big haul including the Southwest steak burrito, Cheese-Crusted Quesadilla with grilled adobo chicken, and Street Style Chicken Tacos. All 3 were very tasty The southwest steak burrito was very well balanced and filling and the grilled steak was flavorful and tender, paired nicely with the cilantro lime rice, black beans, chile crema (medium heat hit the spot), chile corn salsa, and those crispy tortilla strips for extra crunch. The quesadilla had great taste and texture. the adobo chicken had nice seasoning, pico de gallo and cilantro kept it fresh, and the cheese crust was crispy and gooey in all the right ways. Street style chicken tacos were delightful. soft corn tortillas held up great, grilled chicken was juicy, and the salsa verde, fresh guac, pickled red onions, and cotija gave it that authentic street taco vibe without being overwhelming. I love Guac so I ordered an extra scoop on the side. Highly recommend it. These things all taste great with it. Dip it right in and enjoy your meal. Ordered online and it was ready to go when we arrived 10 minutes later. Restaurant looked clean and bright, servers were courteous and cheerful. The food here, like at Chipotle and Moe's, etc. isn't bad. It's just the appearance of a bunch of ingredients all kind of slopped onto a soggy, recycled (maybe?) paper bowl. The colors were vibrant and everything tasted fresh, it's just that the appearance, totally - subjective, devalued the merit of the individual ingredients. Just stop by for a quick dinner today. Never went to one of these before but knew it was better than chipotle with their small portion. The food here is honestly about the same as chipotle but the portions was good. Not cheap at all. I didn't ask for extra protein but I got a scoop and half of steak. Chipotle would never do this. The best thing of all is the service. The workers (Erica) were very helpful about signing up for the app for free stuff and very friendly. Ambiance looks good, looks clean. I was very happy when Qdoba opened right in Plainview...just a short 5 minute drive from my house. Qdoba is always fresh and delicious. I'm a big fan of their chicken street tacos! It has Grilled adobo chicken in a soft corn tortilla topped with hand-smashed guac, salsa verde, red onion and cotija cheese. You get three tacos per order, which is absolutely enough and very filling! My most recent visit, one of tacos feel apart when putting it in the container. The worker not only made me another taco, but also gave me a free brownie. Another great thing about Qdoba is that guac and queso are always free...no extra fees or anything. Food is always tasty, and workers are always friendly. There is something for everyone. Bowls, burritos, salads, tacos...vegetarian/vegan options...everyone can get something! TLDR: This location only, others are ok. Food tastes ok, but found a bug in it, and snooty employee takes food back out after putting it into your burrito so you end up with less than it looked like she was putting in. What a scam! Food tastes decent, but there was a live bug twitching in my food, and the service and quantity of food varies depending on location. At this location, the woman with uptight hair took meat OUT of my bowl when she was supposed to be scooping it in - as if it came out of her pay. Other locations are fair with what they give you (full scoops). This location will ask you to pay extra for a meager amount (less than a full scoop). Even when paying extra, they don't give you much, maybe what you would have expected originally. Can't help but feel ripped off when other locations of the same chain actually give you what you pay for. Also, you should be able to get as many toppings as you want, but she gives you a stuck up attitude and tries to rush you along even though you're not done ordering, and looks annoyed when you ask for a few different ones. I would sort of understand if there was a long line, but this is when there are no other customers waiting. I've been looking forward to this place opening. I'm so glad to say it met my expectations. I got the chicken bowl for $8.29 and it comes with guacamole and queso included. The staff was friendly, the portions are very fair. It was delicious. Also, the interior is much nicer than chipotle. I really like QDOBA. Prices are very reasonable and the staff here is very friendly and professional. I have been to this location about six time now and I have tried most of the meats. Food quality and temperature is consistent, however I would recommend skipping the Tortilla Soup; the flavors were off and the consistency was just weird. The only negatives I have observed are the staff training seems to be lacking (confusion how to handle or prepare orders) and portions are different each time I go (e.g. hardly any pork, average amount of chicken, a ton of steak, skimpy on the quac, swimming in queso). Also, if management or owners are paying attention: There should not be, in my opinion, a language barrier between customers and the employees on the assembly line. Overall, I am glad to have this location near my home since my love affair with Chipotle had dissipated over the last year or so. The customer service (managers) were incredibly rude. I get it things happen. But then own up to the mistake. I called saying there was a bug in my food and the guy didn't even believe me at first. As a general comparison, I do prefer Chipotle over Qdoba. However, comparing the two stores in Syosset/ Plainview area- the Qdoba is by far so much better. Their service is always so nice. Yelp's disclaimer advises that businesses can't remove a negative review, so I don't know why my previous review of QDoba is missing. I haven't got time to rewrite the whole detailed review, but I will say that THIS particular QDoba is nowhere near as good as any of that "other chain's" restaurants. To be fair, I tried QDoba of Plainview twice, just to be sure that the first time wasn't a fluke. Both times, the food was tasteless, my flour tortillas were gummy, and I got absolutely none of the "can't wait till the next time" sensation that I almost always get at the "other place." QDoba sent me a freebie coupon and I don't even plan to use it. I have been to QDobas in other parts of the country (including the Fresh Meadows location mentioned by S Kandrap), and they were much better than this one. The management seems genuinely concerned, so I can't figure out how they can let such bland, unmagical food pass the taste test. Look, the other place isn't at the top of its game anymore, either, but I have to tell you that, after my second shot at QDoba, I wrote that place a long love letter and have been happily going back to them ever since. read more
