We have been going to this restaurant for several years now, We find the owner and manager cordial and accommodating to people's preparation requests, and find their staff pleasant as well. We tend to order different items besides the tacos they are known for. They make great quesadillas, but the best thing that we like is their salads, which we get there often. They have a very large salad bar, with a very expansive selection of pretty much everything one might look to add to a salad,all of which are fresh. The salads can be made conventional or chopped, to the customer's liking, and I truly believe their salads are better than that at most high-end restaurants. If you enjoy this type of food, or even are a vegetarian looking for salad options, I suggest you give them a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. Love this place! The food is very authentic and tasty. Love how fast the order can be done walk in and out type of vibe. You can also eat in there if you need to. Got two my LITTLE burritos for me and my girlfriend, came out to $29. They charge extra for guacamole, steak, and shrimp. But when you ask for either of them they always put such a tiny amount that you might as well have not even asked for it. Today with my girlfriend I got shrimp on my burrito, after grabbing a spoonful and shaking everything off the spoon until there was literally two very small shrimp left that's what they gave me. (They do that technique of shaking everything off the spoon for most options) so naturally I asked for more, to which they gave me another two more, and charged me double... on top of that on a slow day, me, and my girlfriend being the only person in the whole restaurant the bathroom was filthy... I come here all the time and it is the same price everytime because I get the same thing. Today I noticed I was overcharged for a side of rice and beans. This is the most INCOMPETENT place I've ever experienced. I ordered a steak salad w/ lettuce, cheese, peppers, sourcream and pico. How do they get it wrong not once TWICE! 1st they sent a salad with all the wrks (beans etc) but NO MEAT .... This place is so good, everything tastes very fresh like it's straight from the plantations of Mexico.

So many better Mexican options in Massapequa. Pinatas, the Guac Shop, Dirty Taco, there's even a Moe's that's better than this. 1) The employees are ALWAYS rude. This is a Massapequa-specific issue, as the employees in Levittown and Westbury are quite pleasant, but something about the Merrick Rd. location makes everyone angry, I guess. 2) They give you 1 small ramekin of pico or salsa for all your chips, and then, if you ask for more, either a) get snippy or b) refuse you. 3) The soda is always out. I can't tell you how many times the diet soda or Sprite was running just seltzer. 4) The food's not that good. If you can deal with rude customers, drinks you pay for but can't drink, and skimpy portions of pico or salsa that you had to fight for, you might want some good food instead of a mediocre burrito that falls apart as soon as it's touched. My bet for Massapequa Mexican that's always solid is Pinatas, but literally Taco Bell is better than this garbage. Hopefully Qdoba opens soon, too! read more

It's actually better than I expected. I was a little disappointed in the size of the fish filet. Though it tasted good, it was on the small side. I ended up ordering a size of rice and that was yummy. My hubs meal came with a drink and a free froyo - guess I am getting the fish burrito next time! Although to be fair, he did share his dessert with me. The froyo was decent, and not too sweet (we got strawberry and vanilla swirl). I also liked their hot salsa - tasty and a nice kick to it. Taco Joe's is a good alternative to Southwest Moe's and an even better alternative to Chipotle. I usually order the Angel Peak which is warm colored nachos with all your favorite toppings. This thing will have you full all day. I've tried the frozen yogurt but it's just meh. Too pricey for the portion size and it doesn't even taste all that. I'll stick to the food. Came here two times this week due to the location being so convenient and my friends were hungry for Mexican! Both times I got the Kids Burrito based on past experience and burrito size. The Kids Burrito is more than enough for me! With this order you get chips and a free yogurt. My friends got the taco salad which is usually my go-to! The order line usually goes fast and this place always has customers in it (a good sign). I just don't understand how people don't understand the severity of allergies. There was cross contamination of food going on right in front of me. I could only imagine what happens normally. I don't usually get food for myself, but I did this evening. I asked the lady to change her gloves because I'm allergic to guacamole, and she had just touched it. I wanted shredded cheese on my taco and had to ask for cheese from a new batch. She had used her guac gloves to press down on the cheese. Just walked out of Taco joes in massapequa because the kid adding stuff to the tacos, burritos , etc literally used his gloved hand (idgaf if it's gloved or not) and scooped the salsa onto the food. I got this tonight delivered by Ubereats cause im a lazy lima bean. I ordered 2 tacos and one kids meal with a yogurt and soda. The food came within 30 mins which is fine by me. Yeah it wasn't the hottest but whatever. But the thing that killed it was no salsa. No sauce. Nothing so i have dry tacos and burrito. And they gave me chips but no salsa. Thought that was weird. They have some tasty tacos at this Massapequa Tex Mex spot that's kind of like Chipotle but cheaper. Ordered three tacos and I enjoyed them but they also have burritos and the like as well. My wife really enjoys the tacos here. I on the other hand am not a fan of this type of food. Tonight we went back to Taco Joe's , she had her taco and I had crab salad on a bed of lettuce with sliced tomato and some black olives. I will say the crab salad seemed fresh but I did not care for the way it was seasoned. The tomato was mushy and tasteless. Not a great choice. I guess this place is just not for me. read more

My wife and I stopped at Taco Joes on Wednesday for lunch . I had a soft taco with beef refried beans melted cheese and shredded cheese plus lettace an tomatoes . Was not very impressed with the tastes . my wife had a chopped salad with lettace tomato peppers chick peas etc , she didn't really enjoy it . after eating I used the unisex bathroom which was very dirty and dark , poorly lit . we used to go to the one in westbury and really liked it , sadly it closed when a pet store there closed, this one is another matter . I'm currently in a stage of my life where I want to eat everything in taco form. Last week I went to 3 different taco places. This was the second place I visited. I came in wanting some sort of variation of a soft taco. I was immediately greeted by the 4 or so people standing behind the counter. I took a moment to scope the menu and then decided on 2 pulled pork tacos. The guy who was helping me told me to add the barbecue sauce to the taco because it went well with the pork, so I took his advice and added shredded lettuce and cheese as well. I realized when I got home that they really stuffed these tacos. There was a large amount of pork and cheese and an excessive amount of lettuce. So I removed some and kept on eating. They also added a little too much sauce but it tasted good so it didn't really matter. The price to quantity ratio is really good. I wasn't crazy about the setup of this place. The line starts right when you open the door. It's a little confusing. But other than that there were tons of options, the place was clean, and it was pretty cheap. I went into order something at about 145 in the afternoon and they were not busy. There was one person online ahead of me. The guy looked at me to take my order and I told him that I wanted a quesadilla with chicken and cheese. It was in that I realize T definitely did not speak any English. That does not bother me except for the fact that a person who cannot speak English should not be taking food orders. I noticed that he included beans in the quesadilla as he put it on the grill and I asked him did you put beans in? I don't want any beans. He looked at me and clearly had no idea what I was saying. After saying it twice he finally started to get the idea it was something was wrong and he basically threw his hands up and discussed and walked a few feet away. Finally one of the other employees came and asked me what I needed or what was wrong and I explained the situation and she apologized. As I was paying there was a woman counting money from the other register who appeared to be either a manager or an owner. I asked her if she was the manager and she nodded yes. I was very annoyed that since she was present for this whole episode that she did not at any time ask me what was wrong or apologize. I went ahead and told her that the guy needs to drop the attitude if something goes wrong and the fact that he couldn't understand me was not my problem. She said something like yes or something like that and at this point I was so disgusted I just paid, took the food and left. It's difficult to understand why someone who owns or manages an establishment could witness something going wrong and not intervene. At the very least she could have admonished the guy and/or offer me some kind of an accommodation. If my order was not for my daughter who was not feeling well I would've left at the start of this whole episode but I just wanted to get my food and get her home. Needless to say I will never go there again and I don't recommend it at all. read more
