My fellow yelpie Jeannie has been raving about their duck à la pressie for ages and we finally organized an outing so she can share her love of Tourmaline and the duck with us. Thank you Jeannie. The duck in itself deserves an award. You can tell that Yvan the head chef and owner has put so much detail into creating this magnificent dish for his customers. From picking the perfect farm to order the duck from in PA, to purchasing the machinery for churning out the sauce from the bones and internals of the duck, to incorporating different aspects of duck preparations from different cultures (French Normandy, Chinese roast duck) and teaching to Daniel in the city for some tips. You know Yvan has put his heart and soul into this one dish. I love how this dish is prepared table side by the chef himself with so many different stories and presentations. He starts off the duck with a serving of the perfect tot crispy skin served with his seasonal sauce. We had rhubarb. We were the stars of the room with everyone envying us. I can't recommend this experience enough. Worth every penny! In addition to the duck, we ordered some apps, salad and a fish dish. The seasonal cocktail Noveau Peach so refreshing and delish and dessert wine was a perfect accompaniment to the desserts. The atmosphere or the restaurant was cozy and high end. Lots of couples on cute romantic dates. The owners Yvan and Rebecca are the sweetest. I met Rebecca at our building bbq that they catered and she was just so lovely. Mentioned to her that we were going to see her the following week and she remembered me. Definitely check out Tourmaline. A true gem in FH and so happy to have them here.

Both my husband's and friend's hanger steak was very chewy!!! A restaurant of this quality should definitely serve a better cut of beef!!! We really looked forward to this dinner having read about the chef but were very disappointed with the entrees! The kale salad and celery root latkes were good as were the desserts. Too bad as Forest Hills is really lacking in fine dining restaurants !!!

The restroom, located downstairs, was clean. The waiter was informative, quick, and polite. Our food was delicious! My son had the eggs and bacon with potatoes and toast and their fresh squeezed OJ. My husband had the steak and eggs with a decaf latte. His steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. I enjoyed the chicken and waffle eggs Benedict, and I cleaned my plate. We will definitely return. Thanks for a nice Sunday meal!

I'm usually more of a smash burger kind of guy, but the steakhouse style burger was quite flavorful. My only complaint about the burger is that it had no sauce or condiments at all on it. The bacon mac and cheese was also quite nice. The bad: It was pretty overheated in the restaurant, and really humid. The only thing in the restaurant to help with the heat was one big fan at the back. Unfortunately, it was blowing directly on one table of guests back there, and not really doing much for the rest of the people in the restaurant.

Fortunately, the food was delicious and service was impeccable. We ordered 4 entrées to share and enjoyed everything. My favorite was the Half-Baked Chicken. The other dishes we ordered were good too. We finished everything down to the last grain of rice. The floral displays are fun and are probably the highlight of the visit. The space is clearly designed for photos, and I can see why it would be popular for birthdays, showers, or other special occasions. They seem to go the extra mile when it comes to creating a celebratory atmosphere. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff at reception and at the table were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Food-wise, we tried the Kung Pao calamari and wagyu meatballs after seeing other reviewers rave about them, but both felt a little gimmicky to me. Our group mostly stuck with more traditional brunch items, including breakfast burritos and omelettes, and those were fine. Overall, I would not necessarily come here just for the food, but I would recommend it for the atmosphere, service, and special-occasion vibe. It is a great spot if you want a pretty setting, good hospitality, and plenty of photo-friendly areas.

My highs: the wagyu skirt steak with butter was charred just right, and I liked the taste of that salted caramel chocolate mousse. As a neighborhood spot, this does a perfect job of serving as a date night spot, or a place I could bring extended family, or even a place where I could bring young kids, based on the two tables near us that featured couples with their young children. I never love restaurants that serve entrees without sides, so it was really strange ordering the steak and having it NOT come with fries or a veggie on the side. Also, likely because we came in for a 9:30 reservation, service was a little too fast for my liking; our server came by a couple more times than needed to grab our dinner order, so we were essentially done at Rolo's within an hour. Next time, I'll be more explicit to slow down our order or to try and create some distance so that we don't feel a little rushed. Otherwise, great vibes and a great time. Looking forward to a return visit before I hit Nowadays the next time I'm in town!

This is probably my 4th or 5th visit and each visit has us ordering the Branzino, that should tell you something. Also note, I'm not a 'fish person', and I can't get enough of this Branzino. In addition to the AMAZING BRANZINO, we enjoyed steak frites, oxtail croquettes, fried calamari and a Boston wedge salad. Everything was amazing and delicious. The calamari has a sweet honey sauce drizzled on it. The salad was fresh and crisp, delicious dressing and crispy bacon included. We were very full but there's always room for dessert.
