The demand is so far through the roof that there is a nightly line for hungry folks looking to get a bite of their of their Egyptian / Mediterranean fare. By Ditmars standards, the place feels large and spacious. Their renovation from a few years ago is really paying off, Waiting is a part of the experience, as folks will eventually pick items from the display and cooked to their liking. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the display which for me include stheir chunky octopus tentacles, their succulent butterfly shrimp, grilled fish, and tasty grilled scallops. For a good time, combine it with babaganoush, lemon potatoes, beet salad, and wash it down with a mint lemonade. Service isn't the warmest, but dealing with a bunch of folks in line all day always creates a hardened attitude. Most are fluent in Arabic and English. While waiting in line, be sure to look at what's being served or have a list handy for ordering quickly. I tried the fried calamari appetizer, garlic noodles, garlic bread, Cap't Louis mild sauce with snow crab legs, shrimp, clams, scallops, sausage, and broccoli (steamed or boiled). Each bag already comes with a potato and corn. Scallops were fairly large. Snow crab legs were easy to eat and delicious. Clam shells were large, but not much meat inside. The seasoning was tasty and had a decent spice kick. The more pounds you order, the more sides you get. They have a list of market prices. They don't have alcohol, which seems like a missed opportunity. We would've loved to have a drink. It is nice to have a seafood boil option in that area. They give bibs, gloves, and a disposable dish. I wish the water was served in washable cups for less plastic waste. There is meter parking.

The sardines were fried well, but just not as mind-blowing as I thought they'd be judging from reviews. My fav were the Tiger shrimps (sautéed) and the branzino (grilled). You could really taste the char, and they were cooked perfectly. We also got butter garlic linguine with scallops and clams. My husband loved the linguine (and the free bread) the most. The scallops were nice and plump but could have been seared more. The clams were tiny and I wouldn't get them again. The guy behind the fish counter was great. The server however was pretty slow. We waited 10 mins after choosing our fish for just tap water and eventually I just got up to ask the guy behind the counter for water. I also had to go up to the server myself to ask for to-go boxes and the check. And I got up to give the check to them, because they still hadn't taken it after my trip to the bathroom. Place is spacious enough for a family dinner, feels welcoming enough.

At the table you order the appetizers, sides, and drinks then you can proceed to the raw seafood display to pick your seafood and how you want them to be cooked. Our favorites were the Roasted Eggplant Dip (smoky and delicious) and the Grilled Spanish Branzino (grilled to perfection and well seasoned). For drinks, the Virgin Mojito was amazing and soooo refreshing that we had to ask our waiter for the recipe! Overall, it was such a pleasant dinner experience here!

I haven't been to their other locations in the city, but this was really quite good. My recommendations are the El Gobernador, The Cracken, an aguachile (mango habanero is my fave) and the tuna toastada. The Ceviches are quite boring in my opinion, so go for an aguachile instead. DRinks are great, they have cantaritos and carajillos. What could go wrong if you've got both to choose from. Service is friendly and the ambiance is authentic mexican food plus air condiditoning. We'll be back.

Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, and she was happy to answer all of our questions about the menu. The fish was fresh, and the ceviche was solid, although there was no wow factor. The standout for me was the Molcajete Norteño, the fried octopus with guacamole, which was delicious. The most annoying part of the experience was when a kid came in and turned the music up extremely loud, then started singing a solo and going around asking everyone for tips afterward. We gave him $3 for his effort, but honestly, it was more loud and annoying than entertaining. I'm not even sure if he worked there or was just someone who came in off the street. Overall, the food was solid and the service was friendly, but I'm not exactly counting down the days until my next visit.

We had a few misses: The Eggplant and Salty Fish (2/5) the eggplant wasn't cooked long enough to achieve that desired soft texture, and the salty fish was overwhelmingly, salty. The Sweet and Sour Pork Chop (3/5) had potential, but each piece was sliced too thin and over fried, making the whole thing unnecessarily crispy instead of tender. The Fish Maw Soup (3/5) lacked the depth of flavor we were hoping for. Chicken fried rice (2.5/5): tasted like what you would expect, Americanized fried rice The Highlights: The Mayo Shrimp (3.5/5) was a better dish; we appreciated the nice crispiness, and it was an interesting take to serve the mayo on the side. The Snow Peas with Garlic (4/5) was perfectly executed, fresh and garlicky, a simple but standout veggie dish. FYI: cash only

But tucked away on 34th Street, Off the Hook Raw Bar & Grill proves that some things are worth it. Years later, the truth remains unchanged: this sanctuary delivers a masterclass in cozy warmth and absolute culinary respect. The lobster mac and cheese is a decadent triumph--rich and loaded. But the real revelation is the skirt steak. It carries a deeply seasoned, char-grilled crust that locks in a perfect, juicy interior. It is, without exaggeration, one of the the best damn skirt steaks you will ever encounter in this city. Decor (4.25/5): It's a small, intimate room that hits you with a cozy, effortlessly cool vibe. They are welcoming, professional, and move with a hospitality that keeps the room's energy completely relaxed. Food Rating (5/5): Flawless execution. The skirt steak is dialed in to absolute perfection every single time, and the lobster mac stands alone at the top of its class. Price: Around $65 per person.
