I believe the small number of reviews is primarily due to its location. Tucked away in a food court which could only be accessed through an alley on Jamaica Ave or a side street (160th St), this cafe was not easy to find. Although the food court it is located in is no-frills, The Avenue Cafe actually put effort in establishing an inviting aesthetic that made me feel no different than if I were walking in my usual cafes in the city and I really liked that. The staff were courteous and they make your order quick! Best of all, they take card and Apple Pay (I didn't have cash on me that day and I was aware that just about every stall in that food court is Cash-Only). There are a couple tables and a bench on the sidewalk outside. It was nice to sit out on a sunny day. I spoke with the owner, Danny, and he is looking to add a pastry case with Italian goodies like rainbow cookies and cannoli, as well as a freezer for gelato during warmer months.
