Paul, he only charged me $650. I think that is very reasonable, especially in this economy and the hard times people are facing. Also, he was nice enough that, when he showed me the first picture, there was miscommunication and the wrong plug was installed. My charger needed to be hard wired and a plug was installed instead. He only charged me a couple bucks more to change it out and I have no complaints. Thank you for your hard work and I hope your business continues to grow.

This company demonstrates a consistent pattern of poor communication, missed commitments, and lack of follow‑through. They were the original installers (the Paso Branch that is now closed) and were hired (the Redlands, CA branch) to replace our batteries. Site survey completed June 2025, plans approved November, permit held for four months--and still no installation. After I repeatedly chased them, they scheduled an install for 2/10/26, then canceled four days before due to missing parts. What followed: ignored calls, unanswered emails, empty apologies from management, and promises of "personal follow‑up" that never happened. Ultimately, they blamed the lease holder and walked away citing their contract for repair had been pulled. (no kidding after 10 months of having it in your lap without ANY end in sight). Based on documented timelines and repeated lack of communication, this experience reflects systemic operational issues rather than isolated errors.

Will update when I hear back. Would not recommend SolarMax at this point until they improve their customer service. Look into other companies and their service reviews since you will most likely have to contact them multiple times with questions about the system/billing. They were very prompt and quick with reaching out and getting back to us when they were trying to sell us solar. However, now that we have been customers for years and our sales rep left, it takes multiple calls to even get through to customer service and then multiple follow up calls after since they have to email other departments to get an answer and do not call back. It seems like they are short staffed and for a big company like this should invest in more staff for customer service. That way they can provide the same experience we received in the beginning. It's been almost a month after I initially contacted them and my question still has not been answered. Seems like there is only one customer service rep and she definitely needs help.

They were easy to work with, communicated clearly, and consistently kept me informed about every step of the process. There were no surprises and no guessing about what was happening next. We were also extremely fortunate that an earlier installation slot opened up, allowing HPM to fit us in just in time to take advantage of the expiring tax credit -- something we truly appreciated. The installation crew was excellent: professional, efficient, and respectful of our property. They did great work and made sure everything was cleaned up before they left, which really showed their attention to detail and pride in their work. Their representative repeatedly assured me in writing that there were "no upfront fees or deposit required" and agreed to prepare contingency language allowing me to cancel without penalty if the funding was insufficient. After months of follow-ups, delays, and waiting for management to finalize the paperwork, I was suddenly informed that the company had implemented a "new process" requiring a non-refundable $1,000 payment before they would process the application, engineering review, or other preliminary work.
