My husband and I came for an escape room adventure, planned it last minute and couldn't get any friends to join us. We figured we could tackle the challenge! We chose The Eventide Departure room, and we were hosted by Lou. Lou was absolutely lovely, showed great care and gusto throughout the adventure. They really helped with immersion! The room itself was amazing, beautiful to look at and all the clues and items were well done. We came really close to completing the puzzles and escaping, but sadly fell short. We definitely plan to come back with a buddy or three so we can have more brains to solve puzzles. read more

Easily the best escape rooms I have been too! They have a great mix of word, physical and visual puzzles and there is a fair bit of technology built into them. They got the timing down pretty well too so that it puts most teams pretty close to the end. I have done both the midnight carnival and the 20,000 leaves under the sea and we finished the latter with 9 seconds to go so the timing was just right. The technological part was a really nice touch too because it made things really interesting. Five of us did Puppet Master this weekend at the Belltown location. It is a GREAT room. It provided lots of challenges for us. If we could make one suggestion, it is that 5 people were too many for the room. I think this room could be ideally played with three (or maybe) four people. One or two of us were often standing around without anything to do. However, we LOVED the room. The puzzles were engaging. read more

One of the better run Escape Room experiences we've had. It starts with a waiting room where you are greeted, fill out a waiver, and do a short ice breaker to get to know your team. Then the greeter does an intro to the room and gives you tips before being led into the room and starting the game. What was different about this game (The Seattle Fair one) is that there were two Puzzle Break people in the various rooms to help out and to work a few parts of the game (to make doors pop open and make other special effects happen). The game involved several rooms and some cool games that required moving parts between rooms and applying some creative thinking. We had 8 people, but it might have gone a little smoother with 6 since not everyone had something to do at all times. Still, a lot of fun and Amanda and Jennifer, the Puzzle Break folks, were quite nice and helpful. I like that at the end they walked you through all of the puzzles and the sequence of events since no one player saw every puzzle. read more

Fun escape room! Some of the puzzles were too easy, some were challenging, and one didn't work properly so we had to work around it. When we escaped we actually didn't realize it. We got the key but the door wasn't locked, so with the confusion it was kinda anticlimactic. We still had fun though! read more

Had a great time last night at Puzzle Break with our hosts, Peyton, Ben, and George who did everything they could to make sure we had a great time. We got clues when we needed them that were helpful and the puzzles themselves were the good sort of challenging, rather than the bad, frustrating sort of challenging. There were lots of fun surprises and cool reveals (no spoilers). Definitely one of the funnest Escape Rooms I've done (and I've done a few!). Special kudos/shout out to George, who went on a hunt for a cable compatible with my Android phone when my phone died. I have 0 sense of direction and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to find my way back to my car (or out of Seattle) without it. TIP: I parked a few blocks away at the old Bed, Bath and Beyond. Parking was only $7 after 4 PM. There was street parking nearby when I showed up, but I'm not sure how easy street parking would be to find later. read more

Now that I've done 16 different escape rooms at different outfits, I feel like I can write a fairly thorough review that would be helpful for readers deciding where to venture on their first or 50th room. When researching more rooms to tackle, I found that the reviews didn't always tell me the information I needed the most to decide where next to go (without giving up spoilers of course). In particular, I wanted to know how many players the reviewer actually had for which room. It was also good to read about the players' experience level, quality of the technology and how cohesive/immersive the theme was, and whether the puzzles were complex and diverse (for example, I had done an escape room that was almost 90% manual combo locks, which was disappointing). So, for my own reviews, I will use a consistent format providing the level of detail that I would hope for, with the goal that these will be helpful to escape room enthusiasts like myself. And please drop me a PM if you have any room suggestions for me - I'm all ears! Here's another 5-star review for Puzzle Break, one of my favorite escape room outfits in the area. ROOM: The Lost Temple # OF PARTICIPANTS AND LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE: This was our 16th room. We did this with a couple friend (their 9th room) and a group of strangers consisting of 3 people who were there together. We chatted with them a little prior to starting and had the sense that they've done a few. Afterwards, one of them revealed that she actually works at an escape room in Wisconsin (she was in town visiting). DIVERSITY OF PUZZLES: As with the previous two rooms we've done at Puzzle Break previously, I really enjoyed the diversity in games and puzzles, and the intricacy and technology of some of the puzzles. They were a wide variety from logic to aural. Puzzle Break is one of my favorite outfits because of their high level of technology that they bring to the rooms. Yes, those types of things wow me and provide for a super satisfying experience. TRACKING TIME: I don't recall there being a clock in the room. The host was present in the room the whole time, and we would ask him how much time we had left. IMMERSION/THEME: The host gave us a brief intro about the room and the theme while we were in the waiting room. Generally speaking, it was very Indiana Jones-like, as you could probably guess from the room's name. The décor and puzzles were well curated to provide for a convincing immersion. HOST PARTICIPATION: The host sat in the room with us. He generally kept his distance and only offered hints when the entire group agreed that a hint was desirable. Otherwise, he generally was prop-like and didn't interfere with our experience. SUCCESS: We escaped with 6 minutes remaining. A party of 7 worked well in this room as there were enough puzzles that several of us could break up in smaller groups and have tasks to handle, and there were enough puzzles that you really needed a larger group to get through it all. My daughter wanted to do this for awhile now. So my husband, son, daughter and her friend went for family birthday night. The staff was so great, the main area and hallways meticulous. **the most exciting thing was the puzzle itself! Not easy and very exciting. Surprisingly detailed and so much effort put into it. We had a blast. I mean we were family so there was a few 'just chill Dad'. We did not finish and the staff walked us through the rest of it. As you pass an important clue a light will come on. Also there is a screen with a lock on it and you can ask them questions and they will give you clues or when they see you are stuck they will send you a message. It was so much more than I expected. My family and I came in here and it was my first escape room but the second or third for the other members of my family. I enjoyed the experience overall, but there were some definite disappointments as well. First of all, there were several technical difficulties that made it so the employee had to intervene to tell us what something was supposed to be instead of the audiovisual equipment functioning right. Secondly, we weren't able to get the final step of solving the puzzle because it was so technically specific (I don't want to include spoilers, but it was something that we had been trying over and over but we had an object just millimeters off from getting just right to be able to see something perfectly if we stood in the exact right position and looked in right at an exact angle, so that was a major disappointment that we had figured out HOW to solve it but couldn't just because it was so particular. It even took the employee a couple of tries as she showed us how it would have worked afterwards. Finally, it was a very individual escape room. If you're looking for one where everybody works on a single clue/puzzle together before moving on to something else, this is not the escape room for you. We spent the entire night completely separated from each other with each person working on separate clues and then occasionally getting back together to figure out what our individual pieces had to do with each other's. My group of 4 went for the Eventide Departure room. The production was great! The rooms were done very well, the puzzle difficulty was just right for us (everyone between the ages of 25-35 if that matters), and everything was functioning correctly (unlike another puzzle break room we did nearby). The staff was super friendly and the tech they put into this was well thought out. When you had difficulty, they would send you a message in a very convenient way. I definitely would recommend this location to others and I definitely want to come back to check out the other room one day. read more

Our group of 7 did Escape from Seattle - The World's Fair Affair. This room is a true gem for escape room enthusiasts. The theme of the room is creative, and the storyline incorporates well with the puzzles. I want to list all of the "wow" features that make this game memorable and mesmerizing for me, but I really recommend you experiencing it yourself. This room is very high-tech and is not the traditional locks and keys. It is also puzzle-dense, requiring tight and efficient teamwork. We escaped with just seconds to spare! The puzzles require communication, teamwork, and dynamic thinking. And I appreciate that no singular approach will solve the puzzles presented throughout the course of the game. The Game Masters gave an appropriate amount of clues at an appropriate time in the game which helped move us along if we got stuck. I've never been to an escape room before, and no one in my group of 4 did either, we had so much fun! We booked the Eventide Departure room (red and blue rooms are the exact same) for 8pm. We had trouble finding parking and arrive to the room around 7:55, and they didn't say anything, which was nice. You're supposed to arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled time, didn't know if they were super strict on that or not. Anyway... we were soooooo close!!! probably only needed about 5 more minutes to escape, we were so bummed out, but it all started making sense when one of the workers came and explained things to us. Which was nice. They go over all the clues and answers in the end, so you understand it better. It was my first time ever going to an escape room so i have nothing to go off of, but i really did enjoy my time there. 60 minutes never felt so quick! read more

The team and I tackled Escape the Lost Temple this past Friday and this is probably the least fun that I've ever had in a room. While Puzzle Break is easy to find, you walk up some stairs and there is no one there to greet you. Also, god forbid you show up a little early, they don't even allow you to wait in their lobby until 15minutes before your game time. While the tech/mechanical elements of the room were interesting, there was a lot of logic that was difficult to follow. There was a lot of, oh well first you do something then you use the first thing again to trigger this other thing and oh by the way, things aren't marked too well so have fun fiddling around with it for 10m! Meanwhile, the game gamemaster is in the room with you looking like she's bored out of her mind and texting on her phone. Also, you can tell that they want you to get out as soon as possible after your game. No chatting and debriefing, just a here's the exit not GTFO. Will definitely not be returning with all the options around the city. read more

I had never done an escape room before so wasn't sure what to expect. There were five of us which worked out really well as there were enough segments of the puzzle that needed to be figured out simultaneously so we all had something to work on. The design was amazing, the props were realistic and needles to say the four people I was with are veterans at this pass time and we managed to figure out our puzzle in 45 minutes. I don't think we would have made the time had it been all novices. It was a great outing, the staff was clear and concise - we had a fantastic evening. I don't have anything to compare it to but if other escape rooms are as exciting as this one then I can't wait to see what they offer. I've been to this location a few times now and I've never been disappointed. It's the best room escape that I've tried thus far (I've been to FLEE, Conundroom, and Ninja). In my opinion Puzzle Break has got the best decor, best storyline/research, best puzzles, best technology. They invest a buck (or 50,000) on their rooms you can tell by the quality of their puzzles and the experience you walk away with. If you're debating on which place to go, go here. Unless you don't want to set the bar to high for fear of being disappointed by other locations because that's a real concern... but for real. read more

I did the Eventide Departure room here as part of a group of 6 for a work event. We all had such a good time--definitely aided by the fact that we managed to escape! But first things first: Puzzle Break is the only room escape location in Belltown. It's conveniently near all the downtown office buildings, so it's a great choice for your next team-bonding event. Once you make a reservation, you'll be instructed to get here 15 minutes before the actual start time. This is so that you have ample time to sign waivers and listen to the backstory/instructions. Since everyone in my group had done room escapes (albeit at other places) before, we were able to get through the instructions part fairly quickly. The room itself was a great experience! The team has certainly put a lot of thought and care into the props used, even if they aren't explicitly a part of the puzzle. This definitely helps set the mood for the mystery you're trying to solve. The puzzles were clever and enjoyably challenging (at least for me!). I didn't think any of the puzzles were super obvious, but nothing was too obscenely hard. Furthermore, the guides provide cryptic hints if you're really stuck (you're allowed to shout out and ask for a hint, but they might not always give you a super obvious one). Overall, we all definitely had to work together and use our heads a fair bit to work our way through the room to escape, but we ultimately did escape with about ten minutes to spare! Hurrah! Once we had escaped, our guide walked us through how all the puzzles were set up, and the science behind how they all worked. I enjoyed this bit because it helped me appreciate how cleverly done the entire experience was. Definitely a very solid room escape experience in Seattle! read more

Had a really great time in The Eventide Departure and we escaped with 13 minutes to spare! The staff was friendly and very excited about the experiences they offer. I love that we got to learn about the technology that makes the room work after we escaped. The room wasn't nearly as high tech as the games I typically go to in Nashville, but they got a couple legitimate jumps out of me as things in the room came to life. If I had more time in town I'd definitely try more rooms! read more

WOW! What an amazing experience! We went as a team building/bonding experience with our candidates for royalty of the Rhododendron Festival. We are a small scholarship program in Jefferson county and will be travelling all summer with each other. What a better way to learn to work together and trust one another! Sadly we were one of the groups in the 80% or so that are not able to escape. However, we were told that we were so close (like a couple minutes away) from escaping. They came in and let us finish. The staff was awesome and inviting! I cannot wait to visit another room at the Capitol Hill location! And cannot wait for a new room at the Belltown location! We will definitely be back! read more

TL;DR: I was wrong to doubt, Puzzle Break is great. Highly recommended, would do again. I'd rather eat glass than do team building exercises. When told about this, I replied with regret that I had an aneurysm scheduled for that day. Having read the AMAs of other puzzle rooms on reddit, I expected the worst. I'm delighted to report that we all had a great time. The puzzles were fun and varied, having some meat for everyone to chew on. As an experience, overall, it's very well planned and executed. The pacing is great, with the lightest of nudges to keep things moving. Really, these guys are pros. The post-mortem is also very clever, with specific praise for everyone's contribution. (Team Building Exercise Winter 2017! Yay!) Nicely done. Now I'm imagining all sorts of ideas and puzzles. Maybe murder mysteries, like Murder She Wrote meets Clue. Maybe sci-fi misadventures, like stuck in a capsule with a decaying orbit. Maybe themes with role-playing. Cool. There's still plenty of potential to explore. read more

What an experience! I did my first escape room at a fantastic place in New Orleans with friends, and became hooked! After two attempts to recapture the magic of the first room (one in Omaha and one here locally), I was left disappointed by rooms filled with "figure out the padlock code" puzzles. Puzzle Break has renewed my Escape Room love! It is full of puzzles, not padlocks, and makes you think outside the box, but not so much to feel too esoteric. The tech and ambiance is spot on. We did not escape , but we were on the last puzzle, anyway. We brought our 9.5-year-old son. This was his 3rd room, but about 45 minutes in, it became too much for him and he had to leave the room. Looks like the ambiance I found a huge pro may be a con to sensitive kiddos. Padlock escape rooms are the future of our family-friendly escapes, I suppose. However, the staff took him into the control room and allowed him to solve a backup version of the final puzzle from the room we were left attempting to try to escape. We were so grateful to them for that! Sorry, guys. Thank you! Edit: I just saw in a side bar on their site (while looking to book again!) that this place is supposed to be 16+ without prior arrangements and now I feel like an even bigger jerk than I already did. Can I give them 6 stars for so graciously going along with us breaking the rules? My only con (and because the rest of the experience was so epic, doesn't even warrant the removal of a star) was that we correctly solved one puzzle 3 times before we "received credit" for it. In the end, I'm confident the extra 2-3 mins wouldn't have made a difference in our success, but it was a brief frustration, nonetheless. Definitely coming back. Leaving the kiddo with grandpa and bringing more adult brains along for the ride! read more
