First experience at an escape room. Amazing! I didn't realize a room actually has several rooms inside.

My friends and I did their Zodiac room this week on vacation and it was delightful! If you read through my history of reviews, you'll see I do a lot of escape rooms. This was a solid room. Great immersion, puzzles were all logical, nothing felt extraneous. The real thing I want to call out is our game supervisor, Margot. For some background, I do theatre fight and intimacy coordination. There is very specific language around consent and how to interact with people calmly safely. Zodiac has a very intense opening and the game supervisor has to do a lot of clear explanations and needs to physically move and place you. Margot was beyond exceptional at this. When they moved us, they were very careful but direct. Normally, you might feel a little shaky having someone else move you around, but their support was clear and direct without being forceful. I was VERY impressed by their work in this. They were also an excellent game master: clues were helpful without giving it away, they directed us back to where we needed to go if we were super off target All in all, while this room tanks towards the upper middle range of the ~250 I've done, Margot is easily one of the top 5 game masters I've ever had. They made the experience ten times better. read more

Did our first escape room here and had a great time! Friendly, helpful staff (Joanna was a particular delight!) and challenging but very fair room. If you like escape rooms, this is a great one! We did the Bunker and hope to come back ASAP for the others. read more

My sister and I stumbled upon this gem while looking for something to do at night in Seattle that wasn't a bar. We walked in and asked to play whatever room they had available. We played Mission Bunker and I must say that it was impeccably themed. You really felt like you could be fighting a secret war! The experience however felt average to me. Nothing stood out to me as unique or exceptional. Although we overthought some puzzles, we still had a good time. I would recommend it as a solid escape room adventure. read more

I took my staff here for team building. We had a great time. There was a good mix of excitement and nervousness. We did the zodiac room (18+). I won't give any spoilers but I did not disappoint . My husband and I had a great time at Fox in a Box doing the Zodiac Killer room! The other couple we were booked to go with had to cancel last minute, so we were worried we couldn't take this on as a pair---but the room turned out to be the perfect amount of challenge for a duo! The puzzles were a nice medium difficultly with a great mix of puzzle types (if you were worried a Zodiac room would be all cryptograms and word puzzles---don't worry, its not all that). Puzzles were nonlinear, which is always a huge plus in my book. And I LOVED that they described what "nonlinear" meant in the into video---and instructed folks how that should influence a group's play strategy. The "horror" elements were super fun and really added to an already excellently designed room. For those concerned about being too scared, don't be afraid to opt in for these! They are all sound based jump scares and creepy set dressing----no one will grab you or jump out at you (I promise, this is something I worry about too). Our GMs/hosts Jamison & Cyrus were both super professional, helpful, and all around lovely folks. Really enjoyed the experience! Highly recommend the Zodiac Killer room and I can't wait to come back to Fox In the Box to try out their other rooms :) read more

LOVED the Zodiac Killer (18+) Escape room! We did this one with a group of 3 and we had a blast! No spoilers but our host was very helpful, funny, and kind! Overall, made the experience very fun! We solved the escape room with about 17 minutes to spare but we did get a few hints and help. Highly recommend trying this out! Lots of thrill! read more

I had never heard of this place but I've done quite a few other escape rooms in Seattle (Puzzle Break, Locurio). Fox in a Box came up when my friend and I were searching for rooms that work for 2 people with reservations earlier in the day on a weekday. We ended up doing "Prison Break," and it was a ton of fun! If you don't want clues, tell them upfront. We initially said that but then struggled a bit as just two so ended up asking for some clues. I think this room would be great for 4 people, though they say up to 8. Pretty kid friendly as well! We were told it was their "easiest" room with about a 40% success rate for a team of 4. It wasn't the best escape room I've ever done, but it was pretty good! I'd recommend to friends. Very immersive, great set design, fun puzzles. We were a tiny bit frustrated with finding some of the clues (seemed hard/not intuitive), which is mostly where we needed the hints (or maybe more people). Justin R. Was SUCH a good game/room master. He was funny, kind, and very helpful! Even let us take our time walking through the room after we finished and ask questions about different puzzles or clues. I definitely want to come back here! We were told the bunker was the hardest room (& more puzzle-based, which we excel at), and the zodiac killer is 18+ but you can ask them not to do the jump scares. read more

I'll keep this simple. We spent the rest of our day saying "THAT WAS SO FUN" ...over and over again! First time experience with doing an escape room for 3/4 of us and it was just the best time! We did the night stalker themed room, which involved being let into the room blindfolded and handcuffed to the floor or desk to start things off! The room was eerie and creepy, but not too over the top, especially since there were no live actors in the room (thank goodness!). I did the Zodiac themed escape room and it was such a blast! My team and I completed it in 50 minutes. Whoo hoo!! Just for those who might be wondering if it's too scary - it's not. Without giving anything away, there are certainly a bit of horror elements to it and there's one really loud jump scare, but other than that, it's your straightforward escape room. There aren't any actors or anything that will pop out at you. As for the difficulty level, this is probably a medium. In total, my team only asked for 3 hints. You do have to decode some puzzles and find items to use for something within the room. The game is nonlinear, so you will need to keep some items with you throughout the game. I really want to try the other two rooms (The Mission Bunker and Prison Break). read more

Had an absolute blast doing the Prison Break room for our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary. My husband and I have done several escape rooms and we were excited to try this one. This one was hands down the best one we've done. It was the most immersive one we've ever done. Don't want to give anything away but we absolutely loved the way this one started from the very beginning. It was such a unique experience that we've never had happen. You had to work together in ways we've never seen in another escape room. This room was SO worth the price. Our game master was Justin and he was fantastic. He would help us with just enough hints without giving too much away and helped assure us we were on the right track or guide us if we weren't. We have done so many escape rooms and this tops it. Fox in the Box had a room for 18+. For those who are old enough, you won't be disappointed. The environment and theme really captures the high creep vibes. We did this room with me and my husband. We got out, but the creep vibe was soooooo good that my husband freaked out and instinct kicked in. Everyone was so nice and cool with it. Just a heads up, if you do the Zodiac Killer one, the game guides mentioned that sometimes there are those who play would get panic attacks. That's how real it felt. But that is also a warning if you plan to do that room. They do have an emergency plan in case it happens. read more

Zodiac Killer review *No Spoilers* Ive done over thirty escape rooms and this one is one of the modern style ones (meaning more tech involved, better design and more realistic environment) All the puzzles are indeed logical as they claim but It definitely forces you to think outside the box and try things you wouldnt think are possible in an escape room. USE HINTS! Im normally against hints but some of the stuff was either too different or too well hidden to not use clues. Its more satisfying to get help than to get stuck for too long on a simple tasks. Their hint system is actually pretty nice. This escape room is really scary. They didnt mention jump scares online but there are some. And the realness of the props really makes your spine shiver. Overall I had fun! My only qualm to the staff is when we were placed into the room we were told how to start the first puzzle and the wording really had us looking in the wrong direction for almost 15 minutes! That wouldve been enough time at the end for us to finish :( read more

Never did an escape room before until the missus and I tried it out for a date night. We did the zodiac room and it was a lot more fun than I expected. On a recent trip to the region we were looking for something to do with our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and we found Fox In A Box right down the street from our hotel. We had so much fun the first time we went back a week later to try another room. Both were mid-week, so there weren't crowds and they were able to take us right in both times, which was great. If you're a seasoned escaper, or escape-room-curious, I'd highly recommend you stop by. Pros: - High production value - Very immersive and well decorated rooms (unlike some other places we've done, they clearly put a lot of time and effort into constructing these complex and beautiful spaces) - Fun story lines that are woven into the clues / puzzles - No problem doing a day-of sign up - We escaped both times! Cons: - "Hint" speaker system was quiet and a little hard to hear - Now that we've done 2 out of their 3 rooms (and the 3rd is 18+ only) we'll have to wait until they either expand or refresh the rooms. :( read more

Tested out the Prison Break escape room with 3 friends in October 2019. Challenging puzzles and fun overall- I honestly have no complaints and definitely want to try out the other themes they offer. The woman who greeted us was friendly. She seemed knowledgeable and confidently explained the logistics and rules of the escape room. In the Prison Break escape room we tested, objects from actual prisons were used (i.e. real prison bars). Have to give props for their efforts to recreate a realistic and immersive experience! Adding to the experience, we got to wear prison-themed orange shirts. There is also an accompanying soundtrack. Me and my friends managed to complete the room with 8 min remaining and a few hints. At the end, there was a little Q&A session. They also gave us some constructive feedback on how we did which I appreciated and found helpful. Definitely worth a visit- maybe even two! -BC read more

The coolest/ most immersive escape room I've been to yet! Definitely worth spending a day solving their puzzles!!

We are escape room junkies and have done more out of state than in. We were working on our in state rooms when COVID hit and so we were really excited to see some opening up and having it without strangers (my least favorite part of rooms). Tonight the wife and I did both the Prison and Zodiac. Not giving away any spoilers - but I will say we had a lot of fun. They are totally immersive in a way I have never done before. While not totally linear they did have a pretty good sequence of events to follow, which helped progress you and move the room along even if you are able to work on multiple things at once. I think two people is the perfect amount - I couldn't imagine having more with us and not getting in each other's ways. Either room is great and I recommend both. We plan to go back for their third another day and wrap up the series. I do hope they get more space and keep making rooms! Update: we came back and did the Missile Bunker - also great! I wish there were more!! read more

I was visiting Seattle for a couple days and came across this place looking for fun stuff to do. It was super last minute planning and luckily they had availability for this room the day of. This was one of the best escape rooms I've done so far! Willow was our helper for the Zodiac Killer room and as much help we needed he didn't give away too much and still made us work for our clues. We got out with one minute and 19 mins left. We felt so accomplished especially since they said this was one of the harder rooms. If I lived in Seattle I would probably be here all the time. lol I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something fun to do during covid read more
