    The Storykeeper
    Lorenzjay C.

My partner and I are absolute escape room enthusiasts. We have done so many rooms of many different themes. From horror to mystery, we have done 'em all. While planning our visit to Seattle, I wanted to see what their best escape room was, and Locurio popped up. This is hands down, our favorite escape room ever!! We were blown away by everything, and as an ex-games master, that is hard to do. The theming, immersiveness, and theatrics of it all was perfection. Our room was The Storykeeper, and it was fantastic. Our game masters were also amazing! I can't remember their names, but they made the experience awesome. Shoutout to them!! I can't say too much, but please just do one of their rooms and have fun! We definitely did. :D

We played the Storykeeper and it was amazing, very immersive incredible sets, good puzzles! I really enjoyed the costumes and the hint system. There was a great variety of puzzles including physical puzzles, logic puzzles, and teamwork puzzles. The game masters were awesome and there acting within the rooms was incredible and really set the tone and put this room above other rooms! Highly recommend!

Wow! What an amazing escape room. The puzzles were very clever. The set decoration was very professional. Literally have no complaints. One of the best escape rooms if not the best escape room I've ever done.

Alley way and stairs to walk down to get to the entrance

Years ago I saw a list of the top escape rooms in the world. Locurio was on it and since then I've had this place bookmarked waiting for the day that I can visit with a group of people. I finally had that chance. Locurio is located in the Fremont neighborhood near the Fremont Bridge. There is no private lot but there is street parking around the area. You can also get here by bus as there are a couple bus lines that take you very close. They joke that the first puzzle is finding the actual place because map directions will take you to the part of the building facing the street. However, to get to the actual entrance follow the signs to an alleyway between Aesop and Mod Pizza and go down the stairs. It'll then be on your right. The escape room that is ranked as one of the world's best is The Storykeeper. We didn't do that one this time; instead we did The Vanishing Act but I knew that it would be great as well. We had 70 minutes to complete the puzzle and its difficulty level is considered hard. They refer to the rooms as puzzle rooms instead of escape rooms because you're not trying to "escape" but instead you're trying to solve the puzzle to the story. I won't spoil the details but with a group of 7 people we were able to complete the puzzle with 10.5 minutes remaining and the entire experience was amazing! The puzzles were well thought out and complex and the storyline was compelling. The price per person for The Vanishing Act is $40 and for The Storykeeper is $45. I would love to come back and try The Storykeeper next time. The prices are well worth the quality of the "escape" room and the puzzles. If you have a group of 6-8 people this is a fun activity to test out your puzzle solving skills!

We had the most amazing time completing the "Storykeeper" room! The actors and staff were amazing, the storyline was great and the puzzles were definitely challenging and fun! I've now done both escape rooms at Locurio and hope they add more because I would love to go again! They also made us feel quite safe by requiring all staff and participants wear masks. They also required proof of COVID vaccine or proof of negative COVID test before starting. There was also hand sanitizers readily available for use. Highly recommend Locurio!

It was our first escape room. The storyline was great, they let you struggle but then offered tips at the right time. Fun group memories!

Where do customers park, do you have a dedicated lot?

Hi there! There is no dedicated parking lot, however, Locurio is located in the heart of the Fremont neighborhood, which has ample street parking - much of it is metered at $3 for 2 hours, but there are 2 hour free and all-day free spots if you are… Read more

Hello! Looking for things for my Chinese speaking parents to do when they visit. My dad loves puzzles but can't read English. Are there many clues written in English?

They're basically all in English, but the story keeper room has more elements in it that don't require reading than the other room. I can't give much away, but if you are able to translate for them, you'd be better off.

I'd been eyeing LUC for a couple of years, and had almost signed up for a group rowing class. Unfortunately, the pandemic squashed those plans. Their group lessons were all on hold, but when I saw this spring that they were offering private lessons, I decided to sign up me and my son. I was in contact with Patti, who shared that they were still working on the logistics of offering lessons, and trying to juggle reopening their rowing programs with staffing challenges, but I gave her some options that worked for us and she began lining things up. In the meantime, LUC began offering some summer camps on a limited enrollment basis. My son had never rowed before, but he was excited to get to do normal summer camps again, so I wound up enrolling him in a week-long camp. Unfortunately - shortly after registering him, he broke his clavicle, which took him out of all sports for several weeks. LUC was so accommodating - they gave me a credit for the camp that I could apply towards something else. My parents were coming into town, and since my son couldn't do the private lesson with me anymore, I thought rowing would be a nice father/daughter activity. He's in his 80s, but he's very active and in good shape. I relayed this to LUC, and they were very encouraging, so I signed us up. Our instructor was Gil, and he was awesome! Neither of us knew what to expect, and our previous rowing experiences consisted of kayaks and rowboats. The rowing shells are completely different - the rowing techniques are different than a kayak or canoe, and the shells are really reactive, so my dad and I struggled with balance and timing. Gil was so patient with us. He gave clear guidance and provided the right amount of feedback at the right time. At one point, I wasn't sure that my dad would be able to continue (he's in good shape, but at 82 he has some back problems) - Gil was always encouraging, but didn't try to push beyond my dad's limitations. My dad is also hearing impaired, but he couldn't use his hearing aids during the lessons (in case we tipped over in the water) but Gil was able to communicate clearly, checking in regularly, and making sure my dad was following along. During our final lesson, my dad and I finally found our stride (sort of!) and we were able sync up our rowing and feel more comfortable out on the water. Again, Gil was so enthusiastic - I think he was more excited to see us out there than we were! In the end, my dad said he was glad we stuck it out, and asserted that were it not for Gil's teaching style, his ability to adapt the lessons to our needs, and his optimism, he probably would have given up. If you've never rowed before, and you're nervous, but you're thinking about taking some private lessons anyways, I highly recommend Gil. I guarantee that no matter what your fitness or comfort level is, he will make sure your lessons are successful! As for summer camps - my son (who is 12) was cleared for sports later in the summer. I was able to find a spot for him a "big boat" summer camp, and he had a blast. LUC isn't exactly close to our house and attending required that he wake up early for an entire week, but he was excited to go every day, and also shared that his instructors were all patient, enthusiastic, and fun to work with. I'm already looking forward to future group lessons with LUC!

The rooms are fairly dark and we struggled a bit with seeing some of the hints. Fairly linear order of solving puzzles relative to some escape rooms so having a larger group is not an advantage and letting the kids get a stab at some of the mechanics may not be recommended for the more competitive groups. This was not a top 5 escape room but somewhere in the top quartile. They had some very cool interactive programming that was impressive. Some of the video sequences were on the slower side with a slight lag. The Harry Potter theme was def a plus! In Seattle region the top 1 is still Locurio - Storykeeper. We only used one hint in each room, the puzzles were challenging but not so difficult that we couldn't solve it. They were also very unique, definitely not traditional puzzles and the decor made them all the better. I wouldn't recommend doing more than a party of 4-5 players, there were some puzzles that some of our party couldn't quite join in on or having too many cooks in the kitchen made it more challenging than it needed to be. Our game master, Mindy, was super sweet and helpful and only offered hints when we asked. We're interested in trying out the other rooms the next time we're in Seattle!
