Puzzle Break is the best - their staff is amazing and the rooms are SUPER well designed. I've done a few puzzle rooms with other companies that don't even come close to the experience you get with Puzzle Break. I've done the 20,000 leagues under the sea, as well as the Seattle-themed World's Fair room. Both were very well designed with really unique puzzles and really really cool technology. Although I live on the east coast and won't be able to return any time soon, I decided to try some escape rooms in the Seattle area while in a trip out here. My group did the "Escape the Lost Temple" room, and we enjoyed the experience! The Good: The decorations were very well done, and there were a lot of cool setups beyond just locks. Plus, where there were locks, in order to get the code you generally had to solve another, more immersive puzzle. Some of the technology was super unique as well, and we saw several things here that I've yet to see anywhere else. The Meh: We didn't love that one of the staff members remains in the room with you. Although she was super nice to us, it did seem to take away from the realism of the experience, and she offered hints occasionally before we really wanted them; sometimes I like to have time to try many things before seeking help. There was also a malfunction that occurred within a few minutes of being in the room that revealed something that wasn't supposed to be revealed until later, which the employee had to fix. Overall a very good escape room, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night. Additionally, although I cannot personally attest to this, other members of my group had done other rooms here which they said were similarly good or better. Tip: We did a public room, meaning that my group of four was paired up with another group of four. I would recommend instead trying to do a private room and not having more than 4 or 5 in this room, as the hints do not move in a very linear fashion, so if too many people are working on too many things at once then hints can get lost and jumbled. read more

Had so much fun here. The puzzles were not just find lock and key codes. There were interesting ideas and a lot of problem solving and we got out with a 20% average of success. Our GM I think their name was A. They were super awesome. Would love to come back again when I'm in Seattle again. This was my first escape room experience, and I loved it. To echo the other reviewers, this place was very well organized with the staff introduction, explanation of the hints we could get, and the difficulty level of the puzzle my bridesmaids and I tried (Eventide Departure; although, we failed to escape so maybe we're too dumb haha). According to one of my friends who had tried other escape rooms, this was was unique in that after time was up, one of the employees guided us through the hints and next steps from start to finish, and even revealed some points that are actually going to be a link to their upcoming games. Puzzle Break did not disappoint! I'd been interested in doing an escape room, and had two companies recommended. I choose Puzzle Break because of the reviews and the various types of escape rooms available. There are small rooms for 4-5 players, and others up to 14, and they also do corporate events or large group events (saw one for 200!) I reserved a private event for the six to eight player escape room, Escape the Lost Temple, and asked my friends to join me. My reservation confirmation advised to arrive ten minutes before the scheduled time and expect the whole event to take 90 minutes. We checked in 15 minutes early, signed our releases, and received the background to our event. They gave us some basic tips and tricks, but this is were it started to get exciting. There was a backstory and a reason for our group to head into the Lost Temple. I'm not going to tell you what it was or what we had to do, because it's worth experiencing for yourselves. When we entered into the room, it was exciting, heart pounding, and just plain fun! You don't realized how adrenalized you get from being casually locked in a themed room. Hearing the cues that tell you time is counting down... Exhilarating. They ask that no pictures be taken of the rooms, so no one spoils the surprise. They also take a photo at the end of your event. If you complete it, there is a small token of your win. It was so much fun, I know I will be attending another event! read more

Our group had escape room experts, experienced players and a noob. The intro was decent with it being about average to other rooms. The room itself was great, lots of interesting puzzles and tech. Minus the fact that we didn't escape our room and hypothetically died by lava explosion, this was an awesome experience that is a must do in Seattle! I had my family and extended family in town and my husband and I decided to do something different with them. We had an absolutely blast. Without ruining what went down in our particular room, the puzzles were very well done with compounding problems and an exciting storyline to follow. The room was decorated so well, the clues were all in theme, and the event was very exciting. Some of the puzzles were definitely harder than others, but it was fun in a larger group because everyone could work on the puzzle that they thrived on. Side note: We also came tardy to the event because gathering a large group of family is basically like herding cats, but they were extremely professional in working with us without breaking their rules (thus penalizing the group following us for our incompetence). As a first time escape room player, I was very excited to attempt the Eventide Departure Blue. There were only four of us that wanted to go (asked a bunch of friends and they were all busy) so it was nice being able to reserve our own puzzle room. What was nice was the entire event was tailored for participants of all skill levels and interest. My cousin and my wife were not as well versed in puzzles as my brother and me. We were avid players of puzzle games growing up, whether board or electronic world games (e.g. Myst and Riven). The reception and explanation were fairly simple and the hosts were very friendly. The building and facilities were clean. The puzzle room itself was definitely set to the motif of the industrial era archaeologist/explorer theme the puzzle period was advertised as. It was very immersive and we found that the puzzles were just the right amount of challenging. With the "threat" of being "killed", it added an additional layer of pressure and excitement as we moved further along towards solving the puzzle. We made it out with 7 seconds to go! Can't tell you how exhilarating and fulfilling it is to escape with all clues found and puzzles solved so close to "dying"! The Belltown location is great too because we were able to partake in happy hour dinner specials prior to going into the room and plenty of places to hang out afterwards to discuss everything. I love escape rooms! I've played a lot of them and Puzzle Break's newest room is one of the best escape rooms I've ever done. The eventide seance room had fun puzzles, lots of interesting technology, neat music, and was exciting from start to finish. The finish was really polished and felt high quality - I like rooms with good puzzles any way they come but it's fun to play a room that has good puzzles AND a set nice enough to be immersive. We won with less than a minute left on the clock. They're opening more rooms in this space soon and I think it would be a great place to bring a work group for team-building! Advice to all Puzzle Break players: Talk to each other! The start was a little rocky but then we started talking and sharing which was when we started to progress quickly. read more

To be completely honest, I am really underwhelmed by the two rooms at Puzzle Break's Capitol Hill location (Escape from 20,000 Leagues and Escape the Midnight Carnival). While I have lots of small nitpicks about these rooms (less than stellar production value on the former and multiple playtime bottlenecks on both), by far my biggest complaint is the number of players allowed in each room (14 and 12, respectively). Suffice it to say that - going in - my expectations for 'The Eventide Departure' were quite low. I am happy to say that I was absolutely floored at the quality of this room. It's orders of magnitude better than the other Puzzle Break rooms for several reasons. First of all, the production quality - from the technology to the props to the room itself - is absolutely outstanding. Second, because each room is private at this location and has a blessedly small maximum of five players, you won't have to deal with (a) the claustrophobia-inducing chaos that overbooked rooms offer (I'm looking at YOU, Midnight Carnival), and (b) being teamed up with strangers (personally I don't mind this, but lots of people seem to) Third, the game masters don't stay in the room with you. Having some random person in the room really breaks the immersiveness - I'm really glad they don't do this here. The theme is great and is spooky without being outright scary. The solution to one of the puzzles really made me raise an eyebrow - but otherwise, I've no complaints as to the puzzle design. One interesting note, if you have TWO teams of five, there's the option for your team to race against the other team. That's right - they have two copies of this room! This room is great as a standalone experience, but this bonus option is just gravy. The staff was friendly, helpful, and very professional. These guys get an A+. Finally, if you and your friends are experienced puzzlers, I'd recommend going with no more than 3 players. When I went, we went in with two teams of five (our team won the duel!) and it felt...just a little busy. 2 or 3 players per team feels about right for veterans. On the other hand, if this is one of your first experiences with escape rooms, then 5 players is fine. read more

Puzzlebreak has the best rooms I've played so far. I've done several others in the area, and nobody comes close on quality of the room, or in quality fo puzzles. I wish there were a few more logic puzzles in the room to make it a bit more challenging, but overall a fantastic experience. Unmatched anywhere in Seattle. read more

Myself and 4 friends did the Eventide Departure room for my birthday. This is my second escape room. AND I LOVED IT! My other escape room experience was with a different company. Puzzlebreak blew that room out of the water. First, I like that this room was for smaller groups. 5 people was just the right amount for the size of the room and it was just our friends instead of a bunch of strangers. Second, our staff was great. They were funny and really outgoing with us. I was having fun before I even entered the room. Third, the room itself is amazing. The production value was high quality and there were so many interactive pieces. We really got to move around! The puzzles were just hard enough to keep you busy but very linear so that you aren't on a wild goose chase the majority of the time. They also do not have a clue limit like other places so if you really get stuck they can give you a nudge. So I highly recommend this escape room! You will not regret it. And we are already talking about which Puzzlebreak room to do next! This company has it going on! read more

What an amazing experience! I've done two other Puzzle Break escape rooms in the original location and really enjoyed them - their new setup in Belltown was a step up. I've played a lot of escape rooms in several cities, and the new Puzzle Break room (it was seance themed, called Eventide Departure) was by far the best once I've done. The location and building are awesome, and the room itself is basically a movie set (very cool / well done). Without spoiling anything, there's a ton of cool technology, and we had several unexpected moments throughout the game. My friends and I loved the puzzles and were just barely shy of winning. I can't wait until they fill out this location with tons of rooms. I will definitely be coming back. read more

My friends and I did the Eventide Departure Room and it was a blast! The set was visually stimulating and there were puzzles a plenty. I've been to rooms where they only have about four puzzles to solve the entire hour, so having a room where there was a lot to work with was refreshing! My friends and I appreciate that most of the puzzles are triggered mechanically. There have been rooms we've been to where the game master has to trigger a puzzle. So even if you've solved the puzzle, you're still waiting on the game master to activate the next part of the game. It wastes so much time! For the Eventide Departure, you don't have to wait for the puzzle master to activate something. Once you finish a puzzle, you can move on! Something that we also loved was the game master, Russ, didn't give us hints if we didn't ask for it. Even if we were struggling, the he would ask if we wanted help instead of just giving a hint. He also responded very quickly! There have been rooms where we've waited over a minute for a hint, but Russ was super on top of it. This takes me to my last point. Shout out to Russ for being an amazing game master! He was super friendly, helpful, and an all around cool guy. If all the employees at Puzzle Break are like Russ, then they must all be super rad. read more

Had an incredible time playing their Eventide Departure this week with friends. I'm an enthusiast, so I've done a number of them. The room was well designed and the decor is some of the most beautiful I've seen in a room. The puzzles were excellently designed and did not take a lot of guess work. I only found two very minor flaws in the room. First, the background music often made the voiceover used in the room difficult to understand. I have some minor hearing deficits, so I'm not big on this sort of thing anyway. That said, they were well recorded, well timed, and advanced the storyline well. My second "flaw" is, again, a style choice. This room is fairly immersive, and I would have liked an immersive introduction to it. The intro given by our host (Savannah is what my note says, but I think that's incorrect) was very complete, but I would have liked it to be more stylistic, more like an acting role than a speech. Again, this could be a style choice, and not to my personal taste, but not something that is going to effect your experience. All of that aside, I took two novices with me and all three of us had an amazing time! It challenged me, but was relatable for them and they now have the bug. We escaped with 5 minutes left, and I think we worked hard for that win. Can't wait to see more of their designs when I come visit Seattle again! read more

Last night, I experienced the Escape the Lost Temple room with my coworkers and friends, this being my very first escape room ever. I had no idea what to expect and I was so pleasantly surprised with this experience! I feel like I've found a new love for escape rooms. The puzzles were so fun and interesting, and I loved how the room brought everyone together with a certain clue or puzzle to figure out. Our host was Clementine, and she was fantastic. She explained everything in such a fun way and provided us with gentle nudges in the right direction only if we became totally stumped, she was the perfect guiding force and really lent to our experience in a positive and fun way. I had such a good time here that I can't wait to do it again, and I can't believe I haven't done an escape room before! I'm so glad Puzzle Break was my first experience, and I definitely will come back asap!! read more

We had a great time playing the Seattle puzzle room as a team-building exercise last week! I really appreciated the Seattle World's Fair theme, which exercised our knowledge of both history and Seattle Center layout (though no previous awareness of this was necessary). The techy elements of the puzzle were also particularly cool. We had a blast, tooootally did not win, and learned more about how we operate as a team when in a time crunch. Went here on a Sunday night with just a group of 3 for Eventide Departure room. Unfortunately we had to book the whole room so it was pricey, which was a major downer but meh, what can you do? The puzzles were fun, the decor was quite nice. It definitely did not feel cheap so I did feel like I got my money's worth. The only complaint I have is that the puzzles were presented in a linear fashion so there is quite a bottleneck if you're stuck. Overall, really fun and worth checking out! read more

I've done ~20 escape rooms so far, and escaped Eventide Departure with 4 in ~48 minutes. I was a bit annoyed at one particular puzzle that required scouring the rooms for small pieces, but everything else was well produced for the most part. Puzzle Break has a nice hint system where they'll give you hints through a mirror if they see you really stuck, which happened to our group: one for a puzzle we just didn't get, and once because we just couldn't find one of the hidden objects. The room had well integrated puzzles, okay pacing / theme, and a decent amount of content. There wasn't anything super memorable, but it's a solid room overall, and I'll probably be back to try out their other rooms as well. read more

This was my first escape room, so I don't have a ton of context about its quality or difficulty relative to others. However, right from the start I loved that you could book it privately for a small group, which made it great for a date (or avoiding working with strangers). Once we got there, I was super impressed by the quality of the room. The ambiance was awesome, and the puzzles were tricky without feeling like they required a stupid leap of logic to solve. The structure of the puzzles was great, following a linear pattern that made it easy to keep on task and moving in the right direction. I also really loved the hint system they used, which was very non-intrusive, but helped you get unstuck if you get caught in a rut (it even worked well thematically). In the end, we didn't quite finish in time, but the puzzle master came in and helped us do the last little bit to finish off the last puzzle. It's a testament to how fun the room was that we didn't care that we weren't successful. Looking forward to trying more! read more

This was a wonderful experience for my boyfriends birthday. It was our second puzzle room that we had done but it was by far the more fun of the two. I would love to go again! We rented out the whole puzzle for our group and the price was fair. We also beat this puzzle, unlike our first experience, so we may be bias. Overall, it was amazing fun and a must try! Plan to arrive earlier than you think you need too though, there is always tons of traffic in Seattle! We had to park a few blocks away too so we ended up running so we weren't late lol. read more

I actually hate playing games, but this was the right mix of activity and movement not to make is boring. Would definitely do another room here. Our group did the Escape from Seattle room and had a really good time. The puzzles were difficult and we didn't feel that any of the puzzles were "un-solvable" without help, they were at a really good level. The immersion and quality of the room was top-notch, the only suggestion I have is to have the employees who are in the room be part of it. I have done escape rooms in Las Vegas were the employee is in costume and giving hints while in character (ranting "it's on the walls" repeatedly when we missed that we needed to shine a special light on the wall to reveal a clue, etc.) and moving around the area. We had a lot of fun interacting with those characters (we got one to break character and crack up laughing at one point) and this really took those rooms over the top for me. The employees here were very nice but I honestly felt kind of bad that they just sat there for ~1 hour watching us solve puzzles they must have watched hundreds of times before, while our group still tells stories about those Vegas rooms. read more
