glow in the dark mini golf
    Jason M.

The last time I went to Putting Edge it was as a kid and it was at the now defunct location in Richmond Hill. Fast forward to life as an adult, I brought my gf here for some fun on a sunday afternoon during easter weekend. The place was quite busy and although we basically walked in with no bookings the girl working the front told us the wait would be around 10-15 min before the next session began. I had no idea the bookings were time slotted but I dodged a bullet haha. At the given time, we were instructed to download the putting edge app (to keep score) and given 2 golf clubs (same length; I wish they had different lengths). We were also able to pick our own golf ball. The glow in the dark concept is really cool and some of the holes were super creative. I do wish they made each progressive hole harder though as the difficulty was practically randomized lol. I didn't snag any hole in ones but I did snag a hole in two! On hole 18 my gf managed to hit her golf ball onto the hole 1 course like 4 times which I think is a new record for epic fail LOL (I'm also terrible at golf for the record). Mini golf is pretty fun! Especially glow in the dark mini golf. I wish there was a way for the venue to rearranged the courses every like 2-3 months to keep things fresh otherwise I'd be down to frequent more regularly.

Putting Edge is an indoor mini-putt and arcade with black lighting and glow-in-the-dark decorations. Came on a Saturday evening around 6:20pm with one other person. There were only two people working that night and the line was long. We originally made an appointment for 6:28pm but didn't actually start playing until around 6:50pm due to the lineup. There were several large groups ahead of us, so we originally wanted to get a refund, but apparently they don't allow refunds? They did offer to move our reservation to another day though, but we just stuck with it. They put us ahead of the larger groups since we were just a party of two, which I appreciated. I find that many people come here just for the arcade - which isn't much. There are only a couple of handful of machines and it's mostly families who play here. The prizes are your run-of-the-mill tacky carnival prizes too - nothing special. For mini putt, there are 18 holes and they're mostly a straight line, which makes things pretty easy. Some of their holes are more difficult than others, but the two of us breezed through the course in about 30-45 minutes. The 17th hole was pretty unique, as there's a slide (though I didn't go on it). The black light and decorations were pretty cool, but that's about it. I will say that their pricing is very affordable though! Great for a minor date night.

A really cool space with fun designs!

This place is so much fun! I tried to find the business on Yelp and could only find the other locations (which had average reviews) so I decided to add this location on yelp because it truly deserves a page of its own. Mr. H booked this place (mini-golf section) for 7 of us to celebrate my birthday and every one of our friends said they loved the space. First and foremost the place is spotless, I've been to many glow-in-the-dark places that are just filthy inside but not this one, it was so clean and the designs were amazing! Since there were seven of us we have to be split into two groups of 5 and 4 since they only have 5 different colours of golf balls. The best round was the one with the slide, you hit your ball and it goes down to the lower level and then you go down the slide (there are steps as well for those who prefer it). The service was great, there were 2 girls who assisted us and both were so happy and nice (not the usual bored look of an arcade employee). They seemed happy to be there. They also have lockers to keep your personal belonging while you play for a small fee (sorry I can't remember how much it was but it was very low). We all had such a great time and we cannot wait to plan our next game session! Definitely recommend trying!

Located right by STC and has ton of parking. I recommend booking a time slot before going to ensure you get a spot. It's really busy on weekends. Perfect place to hang out on a date or with family. The holes and decor are done really well. I love the twisted slide. It adds a fun touch. Overall, clean and great environment.

None of the mechanisms work and the staff don't pay attention to manually start them either. So basically you'll solve a problem and wait around and wonder for 20 mins why nothings moving even if you got it right from the start. Then you have to ask for a clue (which they won't give, it'll just be a condescending phrase that tells you to do what you've already been doing.) then after fighting with them for five min they'll realize it's their fault and manually start it, wasting not just our time but our money. 30 dollars a person is just ridiculous for what this is. If you want more fun lock yourself in a dark closet for 30 min and try to get out, you'll probably feel more satisfied anyways. I will say that we did ignore all of the red flags 1. The bad reviews online 2. The two groups that came out super pissed off before us fighting for refunds cause nothing worked for them 3. How the place looked So kinda on us but... So many rooms to go through that it made the experience well worth it. My only criticism would be the staff. We didn't escape the room and only had one section left to get through. When the staff came in telling us we were out of time, the normal procedure would be to walk us through what we had left. Instead, the guy said he was unable to finish a walk through because the next group had arrived. It seemed that he was unwilling to walk us through the remaining aspects because if he did, then he'd have to reset all the puzzles... I've been to quite a few escape room locations and never has this happened before, even if the next group had arrived.. Overall the Osaka High room was pretty cool, but I only wish I knew how it ended.....

The arcade games are mostly in good order. Though it was kind of awkward that the drinks we ordered were in glassware making it a bit challenging to walk around play games while holding a drink. Even soft drinks were in a short glass cup and volume was lower than expected. While they do have small counters around the arcade games to hold drinks, I think there should be more as there was a section that didn't have any counter and I was just holding people's drinks while they played. We also ordered the espresso martini, while it taste just fine, it didn't meet our expectations as there wasn't a thick foam or espresso beans. He did ask how it was and we mentioned the beans and the bartender did add it in afterwards. Some unique games that I liked that isn't even at D&B or other arcades I've been to is the dodgeball where you hit your own coloured targets, the rope race climbing and the pin setter game where you have to prop a glass bottle up with a string and ring (reminded me of those games at the Ex). The pinball games ranging from the old school cog version, to the 80s version where computers started to get involved, to the modern ones made just this year showcased a real range. What was incredibly exciting was being able to play a number of Mario Kart arcade game races, that I see for three or four dollars a race at other arcades. Couple that with the incredible food options (Deep fried mac and cheese wedges, deep fried mars bars, deep fried... everything!) and at prices that have you snacking and grazing through the whole thing. Card fee is extra but can be recharged via a prior game card. There is a large dining space in addition to the party runs ideal for group gatherings. The kids meals were huge, including large pizza slices or burgers that came with fries and a pop drink. Suffice to say our group had a great time at Playdium Whitby for several hours. My review will be the casino itself and The Arena, the concert hall at this casino. Last Saturday, Jann Arden played The Arena. It would be my first time visiting this casino and concert venue. I had dinner roughly five minutes away from the casino. I thought that arriving here 45 minutes early would be enough time. Everything did work out with ten minutes left before the show's start time. I recommend coming here an hour early. Parking was a challenge. First, you are fighting your way onto the casino premises by merging two lanes into one. The design isn't necessarily the culprit. It simply can't keep up with volume when there's at least one event here. I tried to find parking outdoors. Nothing. I don't think there were signs to get you to the sheltered parking lot that has five floors. I simply went with my instincts and found it. There are speed bumps along the way. The maximum speed is 30 km/h. I recommend slowing down even more to 20 km/h because the speed bumps are effective. Finding parking was crazy. Everyone was on the first floor. I did a full cycle, which felt like a waste of time. I finally figured out how to get to the second floor. Once I was there, there were plenty of parking spots. I was happy. I recommend backing into a spot, making leaving a lot easier. There are stairs and elevators to get you down to the casino level. There were many. The latter were beautiful and fast. One weird detail is that the major parking lot does not connect to the casino. You are outdoors walking between the two structures. It reminded me of being in grades 7 and 8, dashing from the main building to a portable for French class. I hope that they will consider a tunnel or something to keep patrons protected from the elements. There were vendors when I walked in. They were selling African items. They disappeared after the concert was over, so I am guessing that parking and attendance at this casino was busier than usual. It's pretty easy moving around this resort. I found The Arena immediately. It was next to coat check. The lineup was efficient and straightforward, with friendly staff guiding you. You do go through a purse check. I had a small purse, so I opened it and security was good with it. I then had my ticket scanned off my phone. You basically need to go to the door number that's on your ticket. I could go through door 1 or door 2. I chose the former. I saw doors 1 and 3 on the same side. I used the women's washroom twice. It was nicely designed. The stalls offer plenty of room to bring in a walker in the regular stalls. The washroom was clean and nicely lit. After the show, there was a bit of a wait to use it. The lineup moved swiftly thanks to the number of stalls. At door 1, I had the nicest usher let me know where my seat was. The seat numbers are between seats. They are difficult to see when folks are seated. I asked two different folks what their seat numbers were and finally found my spot. The Arena is an awesome venue. There was plenty of legroom. If someone needs to walk by, you don't need to get up. Yay! I was five rows away from the stage. I was almost dead centre. The view was great. The sound was fabulous. It's a huge venue. I had an excellent time. To make a long story short, I had visited the Shorelines Casino in Belleville before the pandemic and had a rewards card. Shorelines rolled out a new rewards program within the last year and assigned me a member number. I didn't know what to do with it (can't log on online and didn't receive a replacement card), so I headed to guest services. I got Lorraine. I loved her subtle purple hair. She was amazing. She asked for my ID (I provided my passport) and she found me in the system. She got me a new rewards card with a bungee cord. She looked into my account and said that I have $10 to spend at any food or drink vendor. Nice! I also have a discount to stay at the Pickering or Peterborough casino locations. Doubly nice! Lorraine was awesome! I had a great experience. I quickly checked out the casino. The floor was buzzing with activity! I used to work in the gaming industry. I oddly don't play games much at casinos, but do like the slot machines. You get free drinks while you play, which is a nice touch. I then headed to The District, which is your food court. Starbucks was open and looked nice. There was also an Asian stand, Sun Express, that's open 24 hours every day. It's perfect for those staying at the hotel, and patrons who want bubble tea and decent food offerings, such as beef noodle soup. As expected, it did take some time to exit the parking lot from the second floor and head home. There was a police officer guiding traffic. Traffic needs help, but I don't know what more can be done there. It's all volume. I love this casino and concert venue. Staff were friendly. I'll be back! (211)

We were a bit skeptical of how it would measure up, because it's in a much smaller unit, but we turned out pleasantly impressed. The one obvious improvement is that it's newer than the old facility, but it's been a few years since they moved. Yet, it is still very fresh and clean. We booked our tickets online prior to going, as recommended on their website, to avoid any wait behind others to get started. Sure enough, we only had to wait a couple of minutes once we arrived to get started. In the meantime, we wandered among the arcade amusements you can enjoy. You can purchase ticket packages in bulk if you want to enjoy the arcade machines and games in lieu of or in addition to your mini golf experience. We were handed out putters and able to choose what colour glow-in-dark ball we wanted. We were able to begin right away. Throughout the entire 18 holes, we rarely had to worry about waiting on people ahead of us, or causing delay to anyone behind. It wasn't perfect, but it was a testament to how well they manage to stagger entrants. All of the holes were different, in terms of layout and paint design. Everything was aesthetically pleasing. The challenge level was a good medium so that you don't want to scream with frustration, but not so easy as to make it absolutely boring. I'd say we spent maybe 90 minutes or so in total to complete the course. We were asked if we'd like to have a scorecard to keep track, which we did. It wasn't always easy keeping up, moving along, and writing scores on the fly, but it made it a little more fun to keep the competitive streak running. We dropped our putters off before exiting the course and were done. It was a great family activity, which I'd recommend with any group you might want to play with.
