So far I've used this service twice and each time, I've loved it. It is unbelievably convenient! I do not have a washer dryer and used to go to the laundry mat, but was tired of lugging everything and taking my time at the laundry mat. My friend told me about this service and when I looked, I was able to book a pick up for the next day. The turn around is just so insanely fast, I love it. They pick up on laundry on Tuesday and it's back by Wednesday, folded in seran wrap and put in bags placed in my front yard. I don't think I'll ever do laundry again. I think the price point is there and worth it. The laundry mat was pricey, and this is comparable especially with the work being done for you. I have placed very large orders bc I refused to do laundry for so long and to me it's worth the price. However, what I do not think is worth it is that blankets are $25 a piece no matter the size. So if you have tiny blankets like from Amazon I recommend getting a friend to do them bc the wash will cost more than the blanket itself. When I married my husband, I told him straight up that I would not be ironing for him. Like ever. I didn't even iron my wedding dress. No joke. Worried I'd burn through it lol. This wasn't a worry, we never thought he'd be corporate or anything. Well here we are, husband wears slacks and a button down shirt daily, and sometimes a suit or jacket - and I've kept my promise. Hell no, I won't be ironing your clothes. I only own an iron because we have kids and they used to make things out of perler beads, which I would then melt together with the iron. I don't even want to take a Santa Claus bag of dirty clothes to the cleaner, and then days later, drive back, stand in line, pick the clean ironed hung clothes up, bend over in a weird way to try to get it to hang on that hook inside of the car's back seat. Plus it only would hold like 4 hangers, so I'd have to go to the cleaners multiple times a week? Nope. So years ago I signed up with Purple Tie to come get the clothes off of my doorstep and then deliver the next day, clean, pressed, perfect, and hung. Lovely. The only work I have to do is try to close the door with my foot as carry the cleaned clothing with both arms (because I tend to wait to long to place an order lol) to the closet in the back bedroom. I quickly hang then unwrap the clothing (plastic is recyclable through Ridwell) and space it nicely and step back and beam - I didn't have to wash iron hang and the closet is full again anyway. I wasn't having taffeta ball gowns dry cleaned here. Basics, not following instructions. I kept thinking there would be improvement, it wouldn't keep happening. Their words sound sincere, and their actions are just unacceptable. They were great about pick-up and drop off, but when they damage or destroy clothing, they do everything they can not to take responsibility or make restitution. If you do use them, I remmommned limiting how much of your clothes they hold as again if you put in big jobs, they will lose some, if not all your items. When you call into compain, they apologise and are pleasant BUT do not accept responsibility and point you to the fact you give them your clothes at your own risk of them losing or damaging them. When a load of laundry came back with 2/3 of my underwear gone I was told it was impossible for them to lose them. I can only assume then that my underwear decided they wanted their freedom and decided to fly away to a place unknown! I think this is one of the most professional dry cleaning service I've used. I was introduced to them through my employer, and their service is highly reliable. Clothes return pristine, perfectly folded or hung. Even my laundry bag is pressed. The prices seem a bit on the higher side, but I think it's reasonable given the convenience of them picking up and dropping off. The only reason for the 4 (instead of 5) stars is b/c on a few occasions, the hook clasp on my skirts sometimes gets flattened during the pressing process. I can fairly easily reshape it with a pair of pliers at home, but I shouldn't have to. On the flip side, when I finally emailed them to ask them if they could just double check this before returning the clothes to me b/c it'd happened on multiple occasions, the Purple Tie rep emailed me back immediately saying to please return it (with note attached) and he would have it replaced. So, I'd give them an A- for solution-oriented responsiveness [A- b/c (1) it's still an inconvenience for me, (2) there was no proactive offer to compensate/waive anything, and (3) when I received the skirt back, the hook was replaced, but the stitching was loose with a long tail, so I ended up reinforcing it myself at home so that it wouldn't snap off (yes, I can sew---a bit.). The second time, all hell broke loose. I sent them some of my work clothes to be cleaned and ironed along with some regular clothes for wash and fold. I added notes to my bags asking "please air dry bras and underwear" and "please use only unscented products." I got a call the next day from a (quite condescending) customer service bro. First, he told me that the pants I'd send could be tumble dried and was I sure I wanted them air dried. I knew he was wrong - 1 pair can be tumble dried, 2 cannot, and I said to air dry them all to make the worker's life easier. He tried to convince me that it was true, and, upon checking the tags a third time, verified that I was correct. An honest mistake, but he absolutely overrode and mansplained to me that I was wrong when I asserted what I new about the pants. Strike one. Next, he asked if I was I sure I wanted the bras and underwear air dried, telling me the only way they could accommodate the air dry on the bras and underwear was by treating each item as dry clean at a cost of $11.99 per item. Odd, since my first order included the note "please air dry delicates," and I received no call, so I guess they don't see bras as delicates. He then spent 5 minutes trying to convince me that it's okay to tumble dry bras on low. (Wondering how many bras he's owned in his life?) He said many of their customers make this choice - so, I guess they can afford to buy new bras every few months. Again with the mansplaining. I finally gave in, but, with this second strike was already pretty sure I'd never use this service again. Strike 3 was this morning when I got dressed. The first shirt I grabbed smells like detergent AND still have BO odors in the pits. I guess they ignored my note about no scents, but somehow the used scented products AND didn't get the shirt clean. I grabbed another shirt, which also smells like scented detergent but has no BO. The pants I'm wearing now have an overpowering perfume smell. I guess the positive thing is they look great - ironed and totally free of cat hair - but it's just worth it. Especially disappointing because we used a great service in the East Bay (Family Laundry, if you're East Bay, check them out, and no I don't work for them and no they're not paying me to write this review) that never had any issue with getting clean, unscented clothes back to me. I think I'll stick to these guys for dry cleaning, because while expensive and annoying that they put a barcode sticker, they conveniently pick-up from where I work. There's a magic purple closet at my workplace that transports your clothes to this location to be worked on... and a few days later, it'll re-appear clean and new. However, for hemming, I'll go elsewhere. Of the 3 hems I've gotten from here, their quality has been pretty inconsistent. The first hem job cost me $14 on a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans, not asking to keep the original hem. The stitching can be compared in the pictures, where I compare them to another business that charged me $8 w/o the original hem for a pair of 7 For All Mankind... and did a way better job and keeping a clean stitch. You can hardly tell there was a stitch at all! Even the back stitch is better than Purple Tie! I was also bothered by how Purple Tie didn't put a lot of effort into ironing out the fold, since it rumples. I'm not sure what the other business did if they just ironed the pants A LOT, but there is hardly any scrunching in the fold. Oh well, I only sacrificed one pair of CoH jeans... The 2nd order I used a Yelp Deal - figuring it would cost me $14 per jeans like the last order. Despite specifying I didn't want the original hem... they still kept the original hem insisting it would look better (this was after I inquired.) Thus, each pair of jeans cost me $20 to hem... ouch. My Calvin Klein jeans hem turned out OK, though the stitching wasn't as straight as the other place I went to. However... my other pair (Hollister)... the bottom of the actual jeans had never actually been worn out with loose threads. After hemming it, it seemed like the stitch job stretched the fabric so now it looks like the bottom of my jeans is wearing out. I'll update this post later with photos to explain the phenomenon, but I was not happy with being charged $20 each for a lackluster hem job. I guess one of the advantages of paying for a hem job, however, is that they do clean your pants after hemming them, so they're ready to wear once you receive them. They get some points back for their customer service - after calling to ask about why my hem job cost so much, they explained to me about how they insisted on keeping the original hem, thus it was more expensive. Since I was expecting to be charged $14 per pair of jeans, they offered a $10 credit on my account which I have yet to used. So while they are convenient, I'd still rather drive to the other place to get my jeans hemmed. The moment we signed up and scheduled a pickup, someone from the office called right away to confirm the order and the details of our request. Prior to pickup and delivery, we received courtesy texts notifying us of the driver's estimated arrival time. Immediately after the laundry was picked-up/delivered, PurpleTie also sent text messages to inform. I always loved this service, until today. I sent some clothes for cleaning the other day. My cat peed on a wool dress, merino wool sweater, and another dress and sweater that are synthetic material. I put those items in a separate plastic bag, aside from my other regular dry cleaning, and noted this on the order to make sure they knew and treated it special. The clothes were returned...and when I unbag them.....EVERYTHING.....and I mean EVERYTHING....now smells like cat urine. Did they clean it all together? What on earth did they do? It smells so awful. I don't understand why they didn't call if they couldn't clean them - but to mix them in with all the others? Why? Why? Why? All my clothes are ruined. I'm so upset. They have said they will clean the items again, free of charge, but I'm a little dubious how this will turn out. Will update my post on how this story ends. Part 2: Picked up clothes after speaking to customer service and then saying they would do a special cleaning. Made sure to put a note in the bag stating the problem with the smell and asking the pieces to be bagged individually to keep from contaminating each other. And even if it doesn't bug you to have a Purple Tie label glued into your clothing, the glue is super itchy and can make the fabric bunch, so it's not pleasant to wear. I've used purple tie weekly for 1.5 years through my office. I'm officially fed up. I wear only Eton shirts (these are $200-$300 dress shirts) and I like to get them dry cleaned. However I've now had over a dozen shirts where purple tie had broken the top 2 buttons on the shirts and replaced them with horribly mismatched buttons. IM SO SICK OF IT. I've started to look at the top 2 buttons of a bunch of my colleagues shirts. Sure enough, tons of them have the same problem. What is wrong with your company??? I've gotten a broken button every now and then in the past but almost all of my shirts are having this happen to them. I've used PurpleTie a few times this year because our washing machine broke down. The first couple times the process went well- requested a pick up, next day delivery and all contactless it was smooth and convenient until the 3rd order where they happened to lose a good number of my clothes. I'm a bigger guy so a lot of my clothes are plus size clothing so the weight would add up (20lbs) and most of these clothes are twice the price of normal size clothing so you can imagine I was a bit upset. My fault is that when I got my laundry back I didn't immediately check the laundry bag until a month later. So I contacted PurpleTie through their website and their Business Manager, Jonathan called me back the next day. He was professional and obviously concern about the issue and was willing to work with me to make things right- I personally couldn't get mad because I was at fault too for waiting a month to organize my laundry. I was surprised to discover that PurpleTie irons on permanent barcodes on your garments, not good if you have designer clothes you like to resell on consignment. By reading the reviews here, looks like PurpleTie has a problem with losing people's clothes and this is probably why they use barcodes on garments. I'm sending my shirts back to have the barcodes removed and will stop using their services and return back to the smaller mom and pop shop where they use removable tags. Cheaper too. *** I would like to point out that if you are OK with the bar code on you garments then this might be the place for you, especially if you are a busy professional. I love being lazy, really I do. My laziness manifests itself in many forms, not least my utter refusal to pick up an iron. For years i'd wear t-shirts and jeans because they were iron free clothing. As I march headlong into my 30s I really want to kick the t-shirt habit but not enough to make me pick up an iron. Purpletie to the rescue. Once a week I drop them a big bag of my shirts with little love notes such as "Please no creases in the sleeves" or "Replace the zip on the jacket with one that at least matches a colour in the pattern, no preference" and they seldom disappoint. In return they leave me little love notes like "Sorry but even we can't get these stains out". I am of course paraphrasing but at around two bucks a shirt and very friendly customer service I have come to love and cherish Purpletie as if it were my own family. My only complaint is that they sometimes miss out on the special instructions but they always recompense me with credits. That and they don't service San Francisco and I won't be working so much in the South Bay any more so I might be searching out a new city dwelling version. What a wonderful pickup/delivery, wash and fold laundry service in the Bay Area!! I noticed in a local paper that this service was available in San Francisco a month ago, so I decided to try their service. I am so happy with the results, as well as the 1 day turn-around time for service!! First, the customer service is just incredible! I had trouble with my password and I called and spoke with Kay, who solved the problem in minutes. ( I also mentioned my problems with a previous service in S.F. which almost ruined our clothes with shrinking, no spot removals, delivery in 2-3 days, lousy folding, but mostly the horrible odors from their detergents. We told them we would never return. A Big Operation in S.F.) Purple Tie picked up my clothes that same evening, with a call 5 minutes before arrival and returned the clothes the NEXT evening, also with a text before arriving. The clothes were securely wrapped and placed in their purple bag. All of the clothes were beautifully folded and placed in groups of like items. There was a light detergent smell but not toxic like the other place. Nothing had shrunk and the clothes were incredibly clean and spotless! I contacted Kay in Customer Service, appreciative of the fast service, wonderful folded and clean clothes, and what a difference from the previous company! It took them a while to get their act to look into the matter (and it took the sweater being found), but once they engaged, they were able to give me enough data (video footage) for me to believe conclusively that I was at fault for mishandling and misplacing the sweater, not them (and they have a pretty tight system to track clothes - Thumbs Up for that!). Overall, I like the convenience of the service. I wish they allowed me to chose how I want each item washed (so I wouldn't pay higher for some items), but the convenience beats the slight higher price. Without any warning, they glued permanent barcode labels to both of them in very conspicuous places - right over the brand label on the inside of the jackets. Customer service was rude and insisted that nobody else complains about this (false - check out their other negative reviews). Eventually they agreed to remove the labels if I sent the suits back in, which I did. The labels did get removed, but they left marks behind since they're not intended to be removed. If they want to use permanent labels as their way of avoiding lost garments that's fine with me, but 1) they should let new customers know, and 2) they shouldn't be rude when someone is unhappy that their $800 suits have been permanently labeled like pieces of produce at the grocery store. read more

My patience with PurpleTie is officially depleted. Their website says "No upcharges. No extras - No surprises!" That is such a lie with this company. Beware, they are now charging $4.99 delivery fee on every order. I have been a customer with them for over a year. You think they would alert their customers of this change in pricing. I would never have noticed, had I not looked at my last invoice. Also beware of their sneaky attempts to charge you more. I've had past orders where they took my regular wash + fold and decided to press my items. The last time this happened, they charged me $112 because of the extra pressing - that I did not even ask for! Even my gym socks were pressed and on a hanger - who in their right mind would ask for gym socks to be pressed?? The amount of plastic PurpleTie uses is absurd. They give you a reusable laundry bag, but all of your wash + fold comes back wrapped in about 4 layers of plastic wrap and then placed inside another plastic bag. Not to mention if they randomly decide to press your items.. each item comes back on it's own separate hanger with a plastic bag. I have been doing a quick scan of the Bay Area and there are other services that offer way better pricing and hopefully more environmentally friendly. read more
