I've only gone to New Star Cleaners for tailoring but over the years I've had many items tailored and reimagined by Michelle! One this is love that that she is so quick. A few times I've been very last minute in finding a dress for an event and I needed an alteration for an event that night or the next day. Michelle has always been extra accommodating either staying late or getting in early to help me get the alterations done. She has been on Sacramento Street for more than 20 years and is loved by all the merchants who refer their customers to her. I learned about her when I heard she did the alterations for Betty Line boutique. I highly recommend new star cleaners and try to send as many people there as possible! read more

Hi, my friend brought in a dress for cleaning and alterations and was completely scammed. Not only was the dress still visibly dirty when we went to pick it up, Michelle then blamed the customer for giving her a stained dress in the first place, without providing any proof that she had even attempted to clean the dress. She was also extremely condescending, rude, and nasty to my friend, making derogatory comments about her dress the entire time. We paid her in cash - which was a mistake - if you're going to use her services, pay with a card so if she treats you like she treated my friend you can at least complain and get your money back. Terrible service, terrible attitude, all around garbage business. read more

Terrible job done not clean the stitching was terrible save your money. The owner is also incredibly rude

Michelle did a great job with alterations for my daughter's wedding gown. We also needed in a hurry and she delivered. She also did a minor adjustment when we picked it up while we waited. I really appreciated her energy and concern. read more

Great local dry cleaners with friendly service! I dropped food on my favorite chinos and they were able to get the grease out no problem. Definitely a convenient place to go in Pac Heights if you're looking for a cleaners. read more

SCAM. This place is a complete scam. I bought in a wedding dress to get tailored and dry cleaned. The tailoring was completely botched. And the dress was completely dirty upon receiving it. However, by far the worst part of my experience, was asking for help to get these issues resolved. Michelle gaslit me by telling me that I should not have brought in a dress that was dirty to begin with and it was MY fault that the dress was dirty... even though I paid for dry cleaning services through her. She immediately started yelling and raising her voice at me, and the entire time I kept a nice and even tone with her, only asking her questions to help me resolve the problem. And the story keeps getting worse. I asked her if we could call the "third party dry cleaning" service she used to ask what had happened on their end. And she faked a phone call to the "dry cleaners" and really called her husband who she "pretended" was the dry cleaners (she spoke in cantonese while this was happening and little did she know that I fully understand cantonese)... This whole interaction led me to believe that she NEVER sent in the dress to be dry cleaned at all and scammed me out of the money. DO NOT give this lady your business, she is shady and I am seriously considering reporting this business to the IRS. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY! read more

I second Megan's comment about the hemming, she does such a good job matching the thread color and making it look like my pants were made for me (as opposed to some 7 foot tall glamazon beast). Her prices are fair, her turnaround is quick and she has never lost or ruined any clothing of mine and considering that I have brought her piles of clothes each week for four years, that's impressive. Based on her drycleaning/hemming skills alone, she's a perfect choice.. but add in her personality and reliability and she is tops!! I love Michelle... and she loves me. Whenever my boyf picks up the clothes she always puts in a good word for me, telling him how nice I am, etc.. She's got my back! What more could you ask for in a drycleaner?? She always brightens my day, which really helps because I hate running errands like picking up and dropping off clothes. I love that she is always either out front working that rainbow hoola-hoop (like only she knows how) or bundled up inside wearing her puffy vest talking about how cold it is this morning. If you live anywhere near here, I'd highly recommend her as your drycleaner. read more

I write reviews on Yelp when I've either had a fantastic experience, or a fantastically negative one. Unfortunately, today is the latter. Just think people should know what happened at this place, so they can save their $$ and go elsewhere for dry cleaning. Let's make this quick and bulleted. 1.Took me three attempts to get my dry cleaning back. The first time I went, only one dress was done (mind you, it was four days later. I guess I've been spoiled with the one day turnaround cleaners downtown, and thought I had given ample time). Second time, they were closed, and the third time, I got there right at opening (7:45am) and waited for 15 minutes until the woman showed up late. 2. My dry cleaning came back FUZZY! At first, it looked like my clothes had been put on the floor for a new puppy to roll around in. On closer glance, it seems that my clothing had intermingled with a very fuzzy white scarf or something. Regardless, I had to use a de-fuzz roller on everything before it was wearable. The woman attempted to de-fuzz it herself before I said anything, but didn't get it all. 3. Price was high and they only take cash. I'm not a cash carrier, so that was even more inconvenient. I have checks, but they weren't accepted either. read more

Michele at New Star Cleaners totally rocks! I've been going to her for a few years and she is a miracle worker. She has hemmed umpteenth pairs of jeans for me and somehow they always look just like they did to begin with (frayed finish hems sill look frayed, thread color is exact, etc). No more dreaded short-person jean syndrome for me! Our drycleaning is always done in a couple of days, her prices are the best in the neighborhood and BEST OF ALL: Everytime you walk through the door you are greeted by name and with a smile. This has been happening since the 2nd time I visited New Star. So, to recap: New Star Cleaners is the home of the super star seamstress Michele who also has a photographic name memory. Top that every other cleaner in town! read more

The worse customer service ever. Terrible. The woman could not figure out how to enter her email and password to use square for payment. She called someone she knew to explain this to her , this call took 20 minutes and that is not an exaggeration. She was yelling and screaming at her friend on speaker phone who was simply trying to help her. After 20 mins I said I had to go and then you starting yelling screaming at me. Under no circumstances would I recommend anyone use this service. read more

AVOID-Just terrible. I echo Rachel's sentiment. This woman did a horrid job washing a comforter.. for $25 I expect a clean garment. The item did not even appear to have been washed! It came back covered in hair! Just disgusting. When I mentioned this to her she offered no apologies. I have allergies and no pets and this was not how it was brought in. This must be from the machines-just bad! This is my first and last time coming here-a waste of time and money. read more

I always come here whenever I need an alteration done. I have had so many jeans altered because they were too long and Michelle does a great job altering them to look just like a new pair of jeans!! I also had my yoga pants hemmed & I absolutely love them now. You will be in good hands here with any type of material!! I had a formal dress hemmed shorter and it came out exactly how I wanted it. I only come to this cleaners for all my clothes!! I recommend 100% read more

A friend referred me to this place, as I needed to get some jeans hemmed. I brought them in on Tuesday, and she had them done on Wednesday. She did a great job, and it only cost $13. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years and there are plenty of choices for dry cleaners. I tried New Star after practicially trying every other cleaners in the area. I had clothes lost, stains not removed, extremely high prices and then I came here. That was over 2 years ago. Clothes always ready when promised, she knows who I am and always a delight. No more switching! read more

I typically go to the cleaners around the corner on Lyon/Sac as they are great! They no longer have a seamstress so I tried New Star. They were always gone during the day so I had to drop by several times for drop off and pick up. I needed something sewn and when I picked it up, it was done poorly. She had me wait and tried to fix it. Sloppy job and won't be back. read more

Michelle who runs this place is very good at alterations. It always looks great and she is fast and very nice. Dry cleaning is always great too. read more

Michelle is the best tailor and dry cleaner in town!! She saved my fabulous designer coat from being ruined. My 2500 Donna Karan coat was glued and not stitched by the company. Michelle gently and kindly and professionally re-stiched every single piece of the garment that were becoming unglued. I love that raincoat and now i can enjoy it more because of Michelle it wont fall apart in a rainstorm or anywhere else for that matter. She never will let you down. you can depend on her 100% every time. Like she says she is brilliant at fixing things. She is a lifesaver and goes out of her ways to help her customers. Her prices are fair and she's quick, fast, fun and friendly. read more
