Went here as a last minute dinner. And boy were we surprised by the cozy atmosphere (located in an old house) friendly service, great bar and excellent fried chicken. We ate at the bar as it was a Saturday evening. And we didn't have reservations. But this did not disappoint! Our bartender/waiter was excellent- attentive, informative and friendly. The specialty cocktail of the day a peach bourbon mix was yummy. The sorbet served as a palate cleanser was great. The star of the show was the fried chicken - it was hot, fresh, crispy and extremely yummy. They offer a very large selection of bourbons. Can't wait until our next visit.

My mother-in-law loves this place. We've been here a few times over the years and it's usually an expensive visit but the food is amazing. Their new location in Newport is very roomy and there seems to be plenty of street parking. We always have family service here in the ambiance is very fancy southern. The food just can't be beat though. It's just delicious! The deviled eggs, it's all just so amazing and someone is really doing a good job of incorporating southern food into just a really delicious dinner. Family had a diverse range of dinner including the main bird and the chicken fricassee. I did have the chicken fricassee and it was pretty darn delicious! It may not have looked as good as it tasted. But it was so good. Whoever is the chef here is definitely prioritizing delicious tasting but very fancy Southern food! Always looking forward to returning.

I've been hearing a lot about this place for a but and remember when it was the Green Derby. I remember hearing about it when it was at Dayton, but never made it over. Came in tonight at 5 on the dot since it was since it was Valentine's Day weekend and we didn't have a reservation. Big upgrade from derby for sure! Very well decorated. Sat down and waited a minute but they were trying to figure out the 30 guests that just walked in. Good sign right! Talked to Dillon, bartender, and gave us a good description of everything and suggested some drinks. We had about all of them lol. Great bourbon selection. Honestly never had chicken cock but was really good. That's a bourbon FYI Ordered some apps..biscuits, fondue, and Caesar. First off thought caesar was, is this a Caesar salad. Omg l, so good. Friend even commented on how it was. The star for me though was the blue cheese fondue, I could have just had a plate of that. Had the biscuits and they were also good. Didn't each much of those as trying to slow down on the carbs. Again, fondue hands down the best!! Entrees were a special of halibut..so freaking good!! The fried chicken my friend had was great but don't know I would say the best, that's a steep one. Had some bred puddin too so don't miss out. Honest opinion 4.5, nothing is perfect, well, mostly. Great atmosphere and I'll definitely be back and I will tell all my friends !

Seafood Melange - picture perfect deliciousness!

On the outside, this place doesn't seem like much - but walking in the door, you are immediately assaulted with the scent of delicious fried chicken and southern comfort food. Then you see the Bourbon selection - feeling like Buffalo Trace, Weller, or Old Forester? It's there. Want to stay local? How about the Purple Poulet's barrel pick with New Riff? It's there (and delicious!). Before you even get to the main course, let's talk about the sweet potato beignets....mouth watering! Our server told us all about the food and brought us a palate cleanser of some kind of amazing Gelato that I wanted to eat more of! Then the food - i went for the seafood melange with shrimp and crayfish, but I got to try their legendary fried chicken. I understand why it wins awards - it is sinfully decadent and needs to be a world wonder! I am giving this place 5 stars, but only because 5 trillion stars is not a thing. Don't sleep on Purple Poulet (though you may want to sleep after you finish eating).

The third star in this review is for the serving staff, especially Kelly who was outstanding in her warm professionalism throughout the evening. Ask for her if you have the opportunity. The first two stars are for food quality. Our third experience of this restaurant. It has shaved offerings and unfortunately, aside from fried chicken and desserts, has shaved quality. The Halibut special was neither seasoned nor prepared well. It was pre-frozen halibut that had a bit of refrigeration burn and simply did not do the job. The other special, a beef Wellington, was a poor representation of this dish. I've had many over my years - this one would have lost Waterloo to Napoleon. Dry, inferior quality beef, and a pastry shell that was thick and lackluster. The desserts were terrific. A bread pudding enchased in a lovely meringue dome was heavenly. As was the coconut cake. The first two experiences were memorable for the food and service. This one was service only. A return is doubtful.

Went there for dinner and as part of the B-Line passport. Got their Angry Orchard Cider Onion Soup (very long, but cool name!). It was delicious! A little hot and spicy at first, but cooled down. Loved the pinion straws on the to

What a great place to have wonderful southern food and great conversation. First timer here. Arrived in time and sat immediately. Order a few manhattans which were delicious! Appetizers included the Beignets, which were over the top. Main course included the Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. So good and spot on!! You can't go wrong . Our server was outstanding and super friendly. Will be back again for sure!

Fried chicken dinner, and their version of Ky hot brown.

I visited this establishment when it was located in Dayton, Ky. We had dinner last night at the Newport, Ky location. This is a great "date night" place or a nice get together place. Real chicken, not strips. I highly recommend checking out.

It's a cute corner restaurant located not far from downtown. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller; they were cheesy but okay. The fish was not particularly impressive, as the dish was dry. However, the sweet potatoes were excellent. The service was average, but the old-fashioned cocktail was spot on.

Lovely experience with great service. We asked to change our reservation time and they accommodated us easily. Server was kind and knowledgeable. The bourbon options were endless and had a full service bar. The building was charming and we were seated upstairs in a semi private area. Food was excellent, definitely would go back when wanting to treat friends to a nicer culinary experience while still getting comfort food.

Last night, ten of us had the pleasure of trying out a new restaurant, and let me tell you, it was an experience we all enjoyed. What made our evening more special was the fact that we dined in the Gangster Party Room, which embraced the theme of a speak easy. The secluded setting added an element of exclusivity to our dining experience. It felt like we were part of a secret society and the intimate atmosphere allowed for conversations to flow effortlessly. With a staggering 500 options to choose from, the restaurant truly caters to bourbon enthusiasts. If you're looking for a unique dining experience that combines history, ambiance and delicious food you will need to make a reservation!! Now, about the FOOD!! Fried Deviled Eggs - a must have!! Blue Cheese Fondue - incredible!! Sweet Potato Beignets - perfection! My husband had the Fried Chicken and Waffles, but he didn't even give me a chance to take a picture and there wasn't anything to take home! Obviously, he loved it ALL!! I had the Seafood Melange!! Presented beautifully with a generous portion of deliciousness!! Everyone from the hostess, bartender and wait staff gave impeccable customer service. Be sure to give Purple Poulet a chance!! P.S. Parking isn't a problem.

Fried deviled eggs

Best fried chicken on the planet. The food was excellent. We had the fried deviled eggs, biscuits, and their fried chicken. It was heaven between the unique devil eggs and extra crisp fried chicken the meal didn't disappoint. Every bite was a culinary explosion in your mouth making your tastebuds dance. The staff was incredible. Our waitress Olivia was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was attentive to our needs. Every course perfectly timed. The bar contains just a few hundred bourbons including a New Riff bourbon that can only be tasted there. The mixologist was on point making brilliant tasty concoctions. Highly recommend going ... just make sure you have reservations.

If you want an elevated WHITE RUSSIAN experience, have the bartender make it with the chocolate espresso infusion. I had the PINEAPPLE HABANERO TEQUILA with GINGER ALE, which was a nicely spicy treat with a good back of the throat burn. The colorful TIDE POD SHOTS proved too interesting to resist, so my husband and I both sprang for one. It's made with three types of liquor, and its three layers of jello and pudding and makes for a delicious, if off-putting shot. The secret is to run your tongue around the inside of the shot glass so you get a rush of all the flavors at once. The OREO PUDDING SHOT, made with cake vodka, is another boozy treat not to be missed. It's delicious and creamy with chunks of Oreo. The LEMONCELLO is light and refreshing, a perfect summertime drink, either straight or mixed with other ingredients. This is a local establishment that prides itself on exceptional customer service. Jerry, one of the owners, took great care of its on our last visit, when frankly all I really wanted to do was order one drink, use the can, and leave. We quickly got tempted into trying WAY more than we intended, and it was totally worth it. We'll be back whenever we're in the area. Give yourself time to sober up playing darts, pool, or Connect Four. This is a great find in Mount Adams. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

The bar itself is pretty cool, atmosphere is fun, and being able to get little funny goodies with the purchase of a Jell-O shot is a very fun idea! I just think there are a few things that could be fixed! There's free popcorn which is a GREAT touch, however it was sooo stale it tasted like it had been there for hours! Obviously though, it's free and I don't judge them too much on that. I went on a Saturday night and they weren't that busy, but they only had two bartenders so maybe they just never got around to it! Now to the bartenders. They weren't bad, but not that great. Didn't know how to make the mixed drinks, so had to take back the menu they'd just given us to relearn how to make it. Also, weren't aware of what beers they had on tap, and there were only like 4-5 beers. So when I asked for one of them, they were confused on what I was asking for and chalked it up to "haven't seen that one in a while" but my friend literally just ordered it moments before me from the other bartender. Lastly, they have a pool table and that cool ring game where there's a ring on a string and you try to hook it on to a hook on the wall! Both were super fun, however far too close! It seemed that the people playing each game kept getting in each other's way. However, it's a small bar, and they are obviously just trying to give customers as many options for fun as possible! If you're in Mt. Adams, check this place out! Better for smaller groups than larger groups though!
