Fantastic options for ice cream, pie and other foods. Service was good and had a little mom and pop vibe to it.

This pie was so good! Definitely get it a la mode with ice cream. I've never had bumble berry before, but it was so good. It's a little pricey for a piece of pie, but was filling and so tasty. I would DEFINITELY recommend. They have plenty of indoor seating and they offer food too, but we just tried the pie. EDIT: we went back to try the ice cream. The chocolate ice cream was very rich and the waffle cone was very good. The lemon berry ice cream was good too, like if a multi-berry pie became an ice cream. It was very good!

I kept seeing reviews and TikTokers telling me we had to try this place and we weren't disappointed! We never made it back for pie and I've cream but we did have a meal here our first night in Custer. I had the chicken pot pie and my hubby had some type of sandwich, both were delish! Service was great but this place is BUSY! Everything's purple including their iconic pig out front.

A fun place and great food. Enjoyed ourselves. Pie was great too. The purple building does create quite the landmark.

Decided to try this very purple place advertising pies. Ice cream (homemade) bar and pick up food in front. We had a nice table in back by an old fire stove. Purple inside and they play a different kind of music sound track. We were cold since 40 outside and 20 mph winds so we both ordered the chicken pot pie. What a good decision. Delicious!!! Served in a bowl and the bowl is lined with crust. Then chicken and carrots and peas and sauce with a heart crust on top. YUMMMMM. I couldn't finish it. No room for pie, which they have many different kinds. Need to go back for soup and a sandwich. Or maybe the chicken pot pie again.

The tourists love to fill the cute establishment and grab a pie slice and ice-cream. Cute decor, loved the pig outside. The cream pie is better than the fruit pies. Some bites were a bit undercooked, they automatically warm the fruit pies which some may like but I like cold pie. You jump in line and order at the counter.

A popular place! Line was long, but moved quickly. We got the strawberry rhubarb pie and the peanut butter pie (with plans to split those) and a scoop of huckleberry ice cream. One thing is that we had asked if the ice cream could be set on the side (because we have someone who is lactose intolerant) and the girl smiled at us and put the ice cream right on top of the rhubarb pie, so we had to take some quick action to salvage the half of pie that the lactose intolerant person could eat. The peanut butter had a more subtle flavor and the strawberry rhubarb was sweet. The huckleberry ice cream was good, but still cant beat the huckleberry fudge ice cream sold in some of the national parks. Make sure you get a picture with the purple pig in front. 2024 #48

We had some extra time between visiting Wind Cave and Jewel Cave, so we stopped here for a treat. I got the Raspberry Jalapeño Rhubarb Pie with Peachy Keen Ice Cream. It was the best pie I've had in a long time. The jalepeño added some flavor with a hint of spice that paired perfectly with the sweet raspberry and tart rhubarb. I will come back here every time I'm in Custer!

We had a very good meal in this very cute restaurant. I had the chicken pot pie and cherry pie a la mode. Our server was great.

We were coming back from Crazy Horse Memorial and my hubby suggested pie. I looked for best pie in Custer and this place popped up! It was the first Saturday of the Sturgis Rally and the place was packed with bikers. We got in line and the servers quickly took care of everyone with a smile! We got the strawberry rhubarb and bumbleberry pie with ice cream. So good!

This place has the cutest ambiance and decor. It's a purple house right of the main highway you can't miss. Up front is a the ice cream parlor with seating toward the rear. They have a small soup, sandwich, and salad menu with various ice creams and homemade pies. The paninis were okay - they come with a bag of lays potato chips. The ice cream and pies were amazing! Next time we will stop by for the pie alone! Both of the waiters we had were fast, and very accommodating. We will be back.

Best pie ever. Good flavor and crust. We tried the mixed berry flavor and loved it. Will definitely stop by here again when we are in town.

We were pleasantly greeted at the kiosk. You order food as there is no table service here. Food is somewhat limited, but service was fast. The restaurant was rather cold inside and many people were sitting fully cloaked and hooded/hats on to stay warm as the front door was wide open. We asked the manager if it was possible to close the door as the temperature inside was so cold and reading the room you could see we were not the only ones that felt this way! Without explanation, we were told no and that's how it had to be. We noticed on the way out that the thermostat was set at 54°! Brrrrr So, we did not stay very long. We ate our less than adequate food with plastic cutlery and left. Probably not a spot I would go out of my way again to visit and would check out other opportunities in the area.

I had the breakfast burrito with sausage and a blue berry muffin. Both were average in size. We sad outside on one on their decks, which was delightful, and sipped coffee until mid morning. Place was very convenient being a short walk from the Bavarian Inn. Prices were ok, certainly not a deal given what was brought to the table. Would need to try a few different menu options before making a strong recommendation. Worthy of checking out.

Fresh oysters for breakfast...in South Dakota? Yes, please!…read more My wife and I stumbled upon this gem on a recent trip through the Black Hills. A note about the restaurant from their website: Erik and Camillia opened Hjem A.M. in 2022 with one goal in mind: bring amazing breakfast food to the Black Hills. The food's focus is seasonality and is inspired by Scandinavian/American flavors. "Hjem" means home in Danish. Camillia and Erik found their home in Custer and want to be your home in the morning. Everything was divine. We wanted to sample the menu so we ordered "The Bob" (pancakes with lemon cream and lingonberry), Lobster eggs Benedict which they were out of unfortunately so the gave us some oysters as an apology. Their quiche of the day was a Mexican inspired elote style with a flaky crust and delightful crema, topped with some pickled onions. Their hollandaise was likely the best I've ever had. The accompanying potatoes and hash browns were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ashly ordered a sausage patty that included a few chili flakes to wake up the tastebuds. I'd mentioned Ashly's birthday and they brought out a birthday treat - rice pudding topped with dried apricots and granola. And a candle on the side. We certainly felt at home at this lovely place. It had a charming decor and the service was top notch. Be sure to stop by on your next trip to the Black Hills.

Service was disorganized--we requested small plates for four people but initially received only one, then had to ask twice more to get enough. There were also several unexpected charges. A credit card convenience fee was added without disclosure, tortillas for fajitas cost $4.99 for three without being mentioned in advance, and a special order included an undisclosed upcharge. Additionally, an item was mistakenly placed on the wrong ticket and could not be corrected. The food value and quality are not worth the price and definitely not worth the hidden fees. While I felt sympathy for the server, who did not appear to receive support from the supervising adult, the overall experience was frustrating. We left feeling misled and would not recommend this restaurant.
