Our server was attentive and accommodating, which added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed a full bar, and the cozy seating in the back created a warm atmosphere. The dining experience was delightful, highlighted by the top-notch Filipino food that truly impressed me. The drinks were delicious and definitely top-tier, particularly the Ghost Face Manila and the Spicy Calamansi Margarita. When it came to the food, it was absolutely banging. Mama Alice's Limpia was to die for, and the Ginger Pork Belly paired perfectly with the noodles. I also ordered the Filipino Bistek, which was very good, though I felt it was a bit too salty for my taste. After indulging in those lovely dishes, we were stuffed, but I was determined to try something else. I recently made it to this spot and it was off the chart. I was greeted with warm hospitality, inviting atmosphere and seated quickly. My first time experiencing Filipino cuisine, and yes I will be eating it more often. The Purple Patch brought out a next level of authentic taste. The Lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) were crispy and flavorful, you will order another round (I did!). The grilled skewers, more please, was cooked to perfection along with the Kawali For mains, Shrimp Bihon- was delicious with every bite. It will not disappoint. I made a reservation well in advance for Valentine's Day. There was no mention of a special menu. I arrived to see a pre fixe menu, $75/person for four courses. No one else was seated. I asked if that was the only menu available. The server said he "thought so". He did not confirm with anyone. We ordered from the pre fixe menu since that was the only option. Another couple is seated. They have the regular menu. Another couple is seated. They also have the regular menu. Our two courses have already arrived. We get another server and I state my disappointment that we asked about the regular menu, which everyone else got, and were told it wasn't an option. The server apologized and offered dessert. I said dessert was already included. A manager came over and said he'd give us a discount and said we could have extra dessert (not helpful. We already were having more food than the intended single entree.). He did give us a 30% discount, but it was insufficient. Purple Patch still turned a profit because we paid 132% more than what we would have paid just ordering one entree each from the regular menu. The food itself was nothing to write home about. This place has been on my list for awhile now. Really enjoyed the food and there variety of options. For drinks I got the ube hot cider which was very good. For appetizers my table got the lumpia, highly recommend, and the ube pandan buns. The buns were really tasty, I didn't know what to expect but liked them a lot. For entrees, I got the spicy adobo fried chicken. There wasn't much spice to it but I can handle a lot of spice. The chicken came with salad, rice and pickled veggies. The sides were great!!! I liked everything about the entree. For warning....some of the entrees are a bit on the saltier side. My friend got the noodles and they were a bit too salty. We couldn't even finish them and had to send it back. Just be mindful when ordering the noodles dishes. After looking at other reviews, the salt can be hit or miss. The lumpia was nice and crispy with well seasoned inside. The short rib was very tender and tasty. The curry was perfectly paired with savory taste of rib. The winter patio is on the street and the weather was somewhat chilly, so I'm glad we were able to get a table inside. The food was excellent. We started with with lumpia and lechon, which were so delicious. The lumpia was crispy and flavorful, though on the smaller side. The lechon was a good balance of fatty and lean meat. For the mains, we got the chicken adobo, tocino entree, and the sizzling sisig. These portions were definitely on the bigger side. My personal favorite was the tocino entree - the meat was so tender and slightly sweet. The sizzling sisig was definitely HOT on the cast iron pan, though it was slightly drier than I preferred. The jasmine rice is very notable for how fragrant and delicious it was! For dessert, we were about to get one dessert comped which was so thoughtful! Went with a large group and was able to sit outside on a beautiful afternoon. The service was very fast for the amount of people that were at the restaurant. The food was good, however, I do think it was overpriced. The brunch bowl was $21 when adding the sausage, which I think is expensive even for the area. I did enjoy the papaya salad and pico de gallo veggies-- they added a refreshing and acidic element to the savory dish. The sausage was a little oily for me, as well. My friend got the waffle and chicken-- the ube flavor was veryyyyy subtle and the chicken was good, just a lot of breading. I will also add that the drinks were about $15 each and were in plastic cups with mostly ice, which were the most overpriced items we got. We came at brunch in search of their famous ube pancakes. We ordered the pancakes, lumpia, adobo brunch bowl, pork belly pancit, crab fat pancit and adobo fried chicken breakfast sandwich. The ube pancakes were literally insane and I refuse to eat another pancake again. Appetizers: our favorite was the crab confit. 10/10 would come back just for that. The skewers were okay and we weren't impressed by the sliders. They were just generally okay. Main: spicy adobo chicken - chicken was pretty good but we weren't a fan of the rice nor the salad. The chicken was fried to perfection Short ribs - pretty decent and fall off the bone. I love my Filipino food and I'm so happy to have finally tried Purple Patch! It was tough to find physically (was secretly hoping for a purple building) but when we got inside I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff and a cozy venue - they even put up a little sign saying "celebrating friendship" because I had noted on my reservation that we're just reuniting with old friends . The food, of course, was AMAZING, especially the sizzling sisig (probably my favorite Filipino dish besides sinangag). They were sold out of a lot of their dessert but the brownie that our server recommended was divine!! My only complaint besides the limited dessert selection is my drink...I had an ube cocktail that didn't taste much like ube, and in fact didn't have much of a taste at all. It mostly tasted like a watered down citrusy concoction. This place was SO good! We went for brunch and we were sat quickly. The service was efficient. The flavors were all well balanced and well done. I loved the garlic rice, fluffy and fragrant. Coming in from out of town, we made a reservation for Tuesday night, and we were 30 min late due to traffic, but didn't seem that busy when we came to the point where I felt silly making a reservation. The space is small and cramped, lining a long hallway with little alcoves at the ends. Service was friendly and laid back. Food was pretty good. Imagination was great, execution was a little underwhelming. We got the kawali which came completely deep fried like a chicken nugget vs. one large piece fried and then cut giving you meat that has both fried and unfried portions. I also spicy adobo fried chicken sandwich which again, imaginative, but the execution could have been better as the sauce was a bit strong or bit too much for the sandwich. All in all, I like the creativity of the spot, will hopefully find a few options that live up to it's creativity. read more

If I could rate this restaurant higher than this app allows me to, I would. There were clear signs directing you where to go due to the location itself being a bit confusing if you didn't know your way around. Three of us were seated immediately on the patio and greeted by our server just as quickly. We arrived at 2:30pm and it was communicated to us that the kitchen would be closed at 3pm but we still had time to put our orders in. Food was served within ten minutes and it was plated so beautifully!! Our server recommended the pork skewers, short rib sliders, and ube pancakes. We ordered the chicken adobo bowl as well. Every single dish was so tasty. The skewers were coated with an awesome sticky sweet sauce, the sliders had a perfect amount of meat in them, the ube pancakes tasted just sweet enough that it wasn't tooth rotting but still enjoyable and those came with the juiciest pork belly bites. The adobo bowl itself was amazing as well with a fried egg on top that we mixed the yolk into for an elevated taste. Our server came back before 3pm to check if there were any last minute orders we wanted to put in while we still had the time. It was very much appreciated. Making my trip of exploring Filipino restaurants from different regions and I'm glad to have stumbled across this spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, it can get pretty competitive, best to ride share or carpool. Seating: Spacious! They have patio seating, intimate dine-in, bar, and a room for privates! Plenty of seating but this place could get packed, especially in the evening and weekends so be sure to RSVP. Feels: You're in the outter ends of DC but still in the DC area so you do get elements of the local neighborhood and small business restaurants. The place itself is pretty eclectic. Relatively clean with simple nods to Filipino culture such as its decor or the goods they sell at their sari sari setup. The pop music in the background made it feel welcoming. They have a bar area if you want to watch sports or other shows. Great place overall - whether it may be a food adventure, family gathering, or date night. FOOD: Hot Calamansi Honey Tea (Recommend) A good warm starter. Calamansi is basically like a lemon so it felt welcoming with some hot familiar flavors, topped with some honey. Pandesal: Pandan Honey Butter w/ Cheese (Recommend) A bang for your buck. I'm not used to pandesals made like this but I'm glad I am now. I appreciated the wealthy size and the portions (they gave two!) enjoy the caramemlize toast to it, the warm melted cheese and sweet butter. Crab Fat Pancit Canton (Recommend) I love dishes that stick to their roots but also incorporate local themes and flavors. The DMV is known for their seafood, so for them to incorporate crab to you usual Filipino pancit was a treat! I loved the lechon, the spice, creaminess to the coconut. This place is truly unique and problaby some of the best Filipino food I have ever had. They serve a variety of brunch and dinner dishes. All of the portion sizes here are quite large and generous though. I went with the pork adobo and my fiancée got their fish dish. The fish was incredible served in this cream sauce that was cooked perfectly. The pork adobo was delicious the pork was flavored well and you felt full and fulfilled after eating it.
