I ordered the diabetic meal option. The food was delicious, just the right portion size, excellent variety and the price was right for the amount of meals and snacks you get for a week. I wouldn't be able to buy all the things for that amount. The only critique I can make is that it's too much food for me to eat in one week before they expire. I kind of figured that would be the case but I wanted to try it out anyway. I'm bummed I can't order again because of the amount of meals. I've always wanted to try a meal prep place without the pressure of a subscription, so I went to Pure Plates in Chesterfield one afternoon. When I walked in, it was clean and the sales rep was very helpful and friendly. She showed me where everything was. From left to right in the fridge are their breakfasts, snacks, lunch and dinner options. They also have beverages as well. Each meal prep container has their "best by" date along with nutritional facts and cooking instructions. I ordered the BBQ cheddar burger which was bun less and sat atop a bed of sauteed vegetables. While the meal was good, I will say the meat was a bit dry, which I think is typical of most grass fed and I am sure low fat content beef. Being a foodie, my weight has gotten a little out of control. In other words, I have packed on some extra pounds and I need to get rid of them. I've tried a few different diet plans, but I need structure and Pure Plates Fresh Start 30 gives me that. They caught my attention, so I visited their website. I was ready to go online and order the Keto plan, but decided to call and go meet their nutrition coach instead. So glad I did. I drove out to Chesterfield and meet with Leslee. She listened to my goals, likes and dislikes in food and what my work and personal life was like. I could have it delivered, but I live close enough to the Kirkwood store, so I choose to pick it up. My plan includes 3 meals a day and two snacks and I've enjoyed all the food. Starting in 2017, some of my close friends and family began telling me I'd been putting on weight. A visit to the doctor last year revealed rising cholesterol and blood pressure on top of it. I thought I was eating OK, but it turns out my portions were out-of-control - especially the carbohydrates. A next door neighbor who is a doctor over at Barnes suggested I consider one of the healthy meal order services. I started with Freshly, which was decent, but then ran across an ad for Pure Plates. Because they're local, I figured I'd give them a try too. Their meals are conveniently delivered on the day you specify and arrive with cold packs in the box to keep them cool in case you're not at home. It generally takes 1-2 minutes to heat these up and you're ready to go. Their meat and veggies are high quality and simply seasoned which is perfect for someone like myself who suffers from acid reflux. Anyways, I visited the doctor late last week for my regular checkup and he was shocked to see I'd lost 22 pounds with normalizing cholesterol and blood pressure levels. The only downside - which is a good downside - is that my pants are now a few inches too big around my waist. I've also noticed my energy and mood has improved on top of the weight loss. The highlight of my day is having a plate of their wonderful pumpkin pancakes drizzled with honey on top. Candidly, the honey is so good I end up licking the damn plate.. I really love pumpkin and I really love honey, and this combo makes my tummy very, very happy, especially at night! As far as my other favorite dishes go, the tenderloin is excellent, followed by the rosemary chicken, sage seasoned meatballs, and tasty pot roast. So here I am eating these delicious, healthy, easy to prepare, affordable meals and don't have to make frequent trips to the grocery store much anymore which also eliminates the temptation to buy unhealthy crap while I'm there. It's a mid-grade, relatively healthy meal prep service with a storefront that offers ready made pick up. That pretty much sums it up. It's one of the better in St Louis, but my favorite is in Las Vegas (Foodie Fit) and I remain leaving them with my 5 stars. I use Pure Plates mostly when I travel out of town for a week by car, to a small town with nothing but - take a wild guess- fast food chains. It serves that purpose well, and now they deliver! I was a little ehhh about driving out to Kirkwood to pick up food, but my next order is going to be delivered and I'm so excited! You an also pick up at some gyms, but these were also relatively far from me (downtown). The "meat and veggies" meals are meh. By that I mean the piece of chicken and cauliflower or steak and carrots, etc. I'd like to see some more chef inspired meals and especially with southwest or latin flare (it does seem they've expanded this a little recently). Their food is amaaaazing (although I am not a huge fan of cauliflower substitutes lols I just don't get them). Their salads are NOT boring and actually fill you up & I hate salads!! Quesadilla amazing too. They're based in stl so you don't have to wait 1-2 business days to get in touch with them if there's an issue unlike other food delivery services. I recently learned about Pure Plates STL and am so glad to have found them. Great Company!! They really care about their customers!! When I went to the location in Chesterfield, I met Kim and Hesbeydi. They were great! Both of them were so pleasant, friendly and very helpful. They took time to explain the meals as well as their online ordering process. Their delivery service is great and with a minimum of $50 and 5 meals..the delivery fee is waived!! I've been using that service and the meals arrive well packaged and fresh! Another great thing about ordering online..is that if you want to leave off a sauce or ingredient..there is a place to leave indicate that in the notes. The meals have all the calories and macros on each container. I use calories for my nutrition program..so these meals are prefect! The meals are fresh and each container indicates the shelf life. They really do last about the 5 days as stated! The meals are delicious!! So far my favorite meal is the Southwest Cheese Philly wrap! So good!!!! Sometimes I have eaten that for breakfast!!! Then again..the Apple Cinnamon Crepe is wonderful!! That does not need to be heated and so yummy! Recently there have been some changes with some of the meals where they're even more clean. And...they don't use soy in any of their meals which is really nice. That's very helpful for me. If people have not tried Pure Plates STL..it's well worth the trip! Salad was light and fresh, perfect amount of dressing. Cookies-OMG-soooo good! Soft and lemony and sugary...and they are mini, 4 to a pack...less guilt? If you don't eat all 4! Good luck! The food was just ok, but my real issue was the portion size. A "large" is not a large at all so I'm hungry still after eating. For $9.99 that's too steep of a price to still be hungry. I hate leaving bad reviews but my food was not appetizing. I purchased the harvest apple wrap. The brown rice tortilla tasted like cardboard. I tried heating the tortilla up a little to see if that helped and it did not. I can't say how much I love this place! I try to eat healthy, but let's be real, it's tough sometimes. I work alot and there are days I don't even want to think about what to put in my mouth. Pure Plates makes that SO much easier! The people that work there are SO friendly. If you subscribe to their email they occasionally send out coupons (and who can resist when they have a coupon right?!). Some of the meals may seem smaller than others but I pretty much always have spinach I can sautée quickly or trader joes frozen brown rice I can throw in the microwave for a few min. and add to any meal if I've worked out that day or worked a particularly long day. There's plenty of variety so everyone can find their personal favorite! I just ate the winter surf and turf and I wish they sold those salmon cakes in bulk because they were awesome as was the remoulade. I stopped in here Wednesday because it reminded me of Snap Kitchen in Austin, TX. I got 5 meals and so far had the fish acos which I thought were really good, the beef hash breakfast bowl which I loved (although I added some seasoning to it as well). Tonight I had the Asian salad and I couldn't finish it because it had that weird stevia aftertaste that I can't stand. Totally bummed because I think I would have liked it with a different dressing. I would love it if the salad was available with a different dressing on the side. I have two more meals to try, the enchilada casserole and one of the wraps. This place is in the old Mediterranean Grill space ... it seems this little strip mall is a hard place to be successful with food. Pure Plates is a ready made meal pick up outlet that is glass door refrigerator style, for lack of a more exact term. The idea, like many others, is nutritious meals with basic nutrition information so you can quickly assess what looks good and what is good for you. I ended up going for what was basically steak with fire roasted vegetables. I am working on reducing carbs and they really had nothing that was low in carbs and there is no labeling of sodium, which is also important to me. Aside from that, the vegetables weren't all that appealing but they did taste okay. The meat was also just okay ... nothing special here. Being next to a Smoothie King doesn't help any. I've been to much better similar places, ones with variety, larger selection and some creativity ... nice people but that may not be enough to stay. read more

I felt better after eatting here. I know that sounds ridicilous and I didnt want to believe it either, but its true, I FELT BETTER. I picked up lunch not quite knowing what to expect due to the initial shock if the style of the restaurant, I was ignorant to the concept but glad I ordered. I decided to go with the salmon with pesto and green beans. It was really good. I had my reservations as there are quite a few unhealthy but tasty ingredients they had mentioned they don't put in their food such as butter and salt. I will say that the food didn't miss the butter. They were able to develop good flavor from the natural ingredients themselves. I won't lie, when I got to work I did add salt for personal preference but nothing else need be changed. One great thing about this place is that the containers their food is in is BPA free. The staff and owner were all very nice and willing to make suggestions and go over the menu as well as the supplements they had in the store. I've been to other locations but this is the one I like best. The staff is always cheerful and always asks if I need help (I'm a regular now so I usually don't lol) I buy these meals to get me through my usually super busy week (who isn't super busy during the week, lets be honest) and so I don't just get so hungry that I eat junk food in a pinch. These meals are perfect for eating healthy with a busy lifestyle. My favorites are the skinny chile relleno, honey ginger salmon, shrimp tacos, and the spaghetti squash with turkey pasta sauce. Yum! I would definitely give them a try and remember to keep an eye on the expiration/sell by dates on the meals. I usually buy a bunch at the beginning of the week and sometimes some meals will expire before I have a chance to eat them (my fault) so I've now learned to buy the ones with the later sell by dates if I know I am spreading them out throughout the week. I placed an order online but still had to wait a bit when I got there, but the owner was super friendly and really believes in what he is doing. It's so great to see passion in a business! I purchased a weeks worth of lunches, all different entrées. They were absolutely terrible! I understand the healthy and convenient part, but the taste is awful. The chicken meal I had looked boiled and was extremely dry and came with green beans and humus stuffed potatoes. I tossed that entire meal after tasting each item. The pastas were slightly edible, and because I didn't want to waste more money, I finished them. I feel bad writing a bad review, because they were so nice and helpful, but I would not purchase meals from here again, and I have to give an honest review. I absolutely love this place! It's a great concept! I'm a big health freak and today I was just so fed up of eating crap for lunch all the time...so I thought to myself, "why can't there just be a HEALTHY, gluten free "fast food" place anywhere in the world so I don't have to continuously eat bad during my lunch time?" I love trying new places but I was so hungry today and usually when I'm hungry I only stick with what I know because I know how it will taste...but, I convinced myself to come here and I'm so happy I did! They have ready made foods to go, salad shakers, yogurts and much much more already pre made foods to choice from! Anything from fish, to chicken, to wraps...etc...All you have to do is just heat it up in the microwave for 1:30. And they don't have soda, only a choice between green or black tea with three natural flavorings to add if you want. Soooooo good!!!!
