Woot! First review. The above says 4 stars, but it should be 4.5 stars. This place is brand spanking new! When you first walk into the shop, you get greeted and seated. There's a nice tranquil environment set inside so you automatically feel a bit more relaxed just from sitting inside. From the relaxing sounds of water flowing to the moment you close your eyes and feel another set of hands working on you - you just know. Know that you're in heaven. Most of the times that I've gotten a massage, I love it. And like most of the other times, I loved my experience here. The staff was friendly but the best part about this place wasn't that - it was the fact that my wallet still felt like the size it came in! I felt very welcome. While the massage stations did not have floor to ceiling walls. They were adequate to provide privacy. You hear others as they came in but, little other talking goes on. I opted for a full 1 hour body massage. The masseuse did a very good job, and did all of the body. While a little more time was spent on the back, it felt appropriate. I don't even know where to start. Terrible massages and it was so loud, the women massaging my husband kept getting up and opening doors and answering phones. They made us pay at first and then at the end were saying we didn't pay yet because we hadn't tipped yet. This is a no frills massage parlor, but what do you expect for the price? There's no complimentary hot tea, no spa robes, no showers. If that's what you want, you should go elsewhere. Also, if you are at all discomforted by feeling like you're about to get naked in a public place, this is not the place for you. But, if you can get over the spare decor, the fact that the place is not 100% private, and the limited English of the staff, then you'll get a good, firm massage for a really sweet price. That said, I want to stress the biggest flaw yet again: there is really no privacy. During my massage, a woman came in to the shopfront looking for a massage for her boyfriend. She had a very loud voice, and was chattering on and on about this massage she was getting for him for his birthday. It was disruptive, but -- you get what you pay for. I enjoyed my massage, and I'd go back if I felt like I just needed a rub down. I don't feel like there was a particular technique (i.e., Swedish, Shiatsu, etc.) involved, and most of the massage was spent on back and shoulders with no questions about targeting. I was asked about pressure before the therapist started. It was very firm, very soothing, and I would say for the amount I paid, worth the cost of admission. This is one of the best places I have ever been to. The decor of the parlor is much classier than many other massage parlors in the area. They have a grand opening special right now: $33 per hour for a body massage and $23 for a foot massage. They have great techniques that will leave you feeling relaxed. I've only been to a select few massage places, so my experience isn't expert level.. The price was good for what I got I guess. My husband and I went and in my time alone the woman walked in on someone else getting a massage(which I also saw), walked in on me even though I said I wasn't ready, and massaged my butt so *well* that I could hear my cheeks clapping I was so stressed out DURING the massage. Then, when it was time to pay both of the women up front had absolutely no idea what I was saying ( my husband wanted to pay for both massages, so 40+40=80 and a $1 fee for credit cards.) so we had to tell THEM the total. After my husbands massage they stopped him and said "tip." So he gave them an $11 tip and the woman threw the pen on the table. If massage in a relaxing quiet atmosphere is your thing, this is not the place. My girlfriend & I went on a Saturday evening for reflexology and it felt like we were in the middle of shopping mall the day before Christmas. So much chaos and talking. It doesn't help that the front door & reception area was only a few feet away. I'm typically concerned that the massage therapist will want to talk to me, which I avoid. No need to worry about that here... the massage people literally talk loudly across the room to each other! I had a valid offer for buy one get one free I showed them this when I arrived, they agreed to accept it, and then proceeded to deny the coupon after we received massages. The owner got on the phone with me and proceeded to verbally abused me and threatened to call the police on me if I didn't pay the $80. I will never return to this massage studio ever again. A decent massage at a very good price. However, it is merely a massage, not a relaxing, transporting experience as you would want a massage to be. The towels that they cover us with are slightly too small, so we felt chilled and the masseuse was constantly tugging it back into place to keep us covered. Since May has taken over this business last year, it has improved immensely. It is clean, the massage therapists are professional and friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the business is run very well. Although each category of massage includes the same modalities, if there are unique problems, May will make sure that her massage therapists knows what to concentrate on. I want to particularly commend both Rose, the manager, and Lucky, who give excellent Deep Tissue Massages, including some Reflexology. Because of a medical condition I have with my muscles, I must get massages each week. In one hour during the foot massage, my whole body feels like new again. I have never been disappointed in their massages. For those who complain about the noise, I think they need to take the price into consideration. If they were in a quiet salon, they would absolutely be paying 3 - 4 x the cost for the same service. It is also generally possible to get a massage appointment the day you call. Looked on yelp to find a massage place close by and pure massage came up. I went in asked for a full body and took me to a cubical room. Ask for a girl for the massage and had a middle age woman, didnt say her name. The massage I would rate 8/10 the table though was a bit hard, and where you put your face wasnt really padded. Their price is very competitive and lower than most massage places in the city. I saw the ad on the newspaper for $33 for 60mins and immediately wanted to try out this place. (you should definitely mention this deal when you walk in!!!) The staff were very attentive when I walked in and were very friendly. I like the decor of the place and everything is brand new. First experience was great a few years ago I got a reflexology massage. Second reflexology massage was pretty bad, and now Im reading they have new owners. No one there spoke English and so they couldn't understand what I wanted especially when I was paying it took several minutes to communicate to each other. Recent experience here not great. Manager gave me 90 min deep tissue. She is very knowledgable, has a degree in nursing. However she answered 3 calls & returned 1 during my session. Also continually talked to other employees. The "rooms" are partition walls with a curtain for a door. Not very private. Way too much distraction for me to relax. Look for the coupons that get sent out in your mailbox. I went in for the foot massage. Seems kinda awkward walking in. Gentleman working there seems like he didn't want to be interrupted. No other customers in that day. I just tried to enjoy my foot massage but quite honestly I don't think I'd come back to often due to his awkwardness and it being a average massage. I went back on a prior occasion. I was told to come back because there was no one available to give a massage. Why would you have the open sign blinking and door unlocked? I read a lot of the negative reviews and was really hesitant about going, but my daughter had been to the Oceanside shop twice and both times said it was just fine. I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews sway my decision. My reflexology massage was wonderful. It was a full hour for $25 and I would definitely go back. Was the scenery perfect? The lady was so rough and jerky with her movements it set off cramps in my foot. I kept saying "Gentle" and "Ow" but she did not get it. When you get a boney surface massage, the foot muscles don't get any massage so I felt like I was missing the relaxation. He also spent most of the time massaging my feet with only one hand. This place is VERY affordable. Right now it's $33 for a 1 hour full body massage. I have been incredibly stressed out lately and needed to relax the tension in my back. My massage left me feeling much better physically. I could tell they really worked on the stress in my back. In ways, the session felt more like a chiropractic appointment. It was a good massage. HOWEVER, the guy massaging me answered his personal cell phone THREE times and spoke for about a minute each while rubbing my neck with one hand. Also, they are new so they don't have additional staff to tend to walk in customers. My masseuse stepped out once to greet a customer and tell them to come back for a later appointment. He also had a brief conversation with the other masseuse by talking over the separated walls to one another. This all happened during my one hour massage. Did I feel better after I left? Yes. I had a wonderful deep tissue massage by Cynthia. I had requested that she focus primarily on my upper back, neck and cranial area. I felt as if I had a couple of glasses of wine after the hour massage. Deep tissue massages can be challenging especially to women if too much pressure is applied.
