So on our to Carlsbad we randomly rolled the dice to find a massage place that would do a couples massage within 30 min drive and Olive Leaf Spa was the winner!!! We each did a 90 min massage for $90. 60 min for $60. Very good price for that area if you are on the hunt for a local Asian massage place. Played relaxing music and we each had our own private rooms. My husband said he really enjoyed it as she was able to get out some knots behind his shoulder, neck, and booty area. I enjoyed the hot oil and hot stones. Both were included in the massage price. My back was feeling the relief too. So we will keep this place in our Rolodex as they were very accommodating and able to take us at short notice. read more

I have been to many massages and the person did not seem trained. They kept pushing on my bone thinking it was a knot. I would not go back.

This place is extremely unprofessional and I question their massage certification and training. It was my girlfriend's birthday so before dinner she made reservations for an afternoon couples massage. We arrived 10 minutes early and were greeted by who I am assuming was the manager. She guided us to the room and asked if we would be paying before or after the massage, which my gf replied "after". Once inside we disrobed, covered ourselves in the sheet and laid down on the table. There was no soothing music or incense, just the loud sounds from the street. After about 5 minutes the manager came into the room quite abruptly and said to my gf "You pay now!" Quite confused, she agreed but said to her that she was naked, at which point the manager turned and left the room. She got up, wrapped herself in the sheet, and stepped out where the manager was waiting with her open hand. After a couple minutes she returned and asked if we were getting the 90 minute session which my gf replied yes. My gf asked for her card back and the manager snapped at her "No! We'll give it to you later!" She then turned and left the room again. At this point we are both thoroughly confused and irritated, but I knew that even if we wanted to leave there was no way we were getting the money refunded. When the manager returned again my gf told her that she wanted her card back but again the manager said "No! We give it to yo u later!" My gf demanded she be given her card back and again the manager left the room. When she returned with the card and the receipt it was so dark that my gf had to stand up again to sign the sheet on the frame of the open door. As she's doing this the manager is literally leaning over her shoulder and staring at the tip line as she's signing holding her face about 18" from the sheet. Obviously my gf put a big fat ZERO on the tip line and the manager was clearly upset about and huffed out. Why would she put a tip on? No services have been rendered? And at this point the only thing that HAS HAPPENED is we've had a very bad experience. Anyway, after that the two women came in and we had a pretty lack luster massage. They went through the motions but a couple times would leave the room to talk to people outside and even answered the phone during the session! After they finished they asked us if we wanted a glass of water in which I gladly accepted. What they handed us were two waiting room paper water cups that held roughly 1.5 ounces of water. I'm sorry but I laughed. Once we exited the room, there was our lovely host hovering near the door with her hand stretched out. We tipped them both $10 (which was generous in my opinion) and were greeted with the biggest look of disgust. If looks could kill we would have dropped dead where we stood. I'm not sure why we received such terrible and rude service. Maybe they have been burned in the past or something similar but we were nothing but polite to them. Be very wary of this place before you blindly walk in thinking you're receiving a nice massage with any sort of basic hospitality. read more

Save your money go elsewhere. It's very clear the masseuses are trained minimally, probably just enough to get their certification. I've had a number of massages across the board and this was absolutely regrettable even for the cheaper price compared to other parlors. My spine was hit a couple of times, the masseuse focused on the wrong spots, didn't listen to pressure adjustment, and spent a good while just scratching at my scalp. That's right, not even massaging, but scratching. My hair was a mess afterwards and my tension was increased from this horrendously executed "massage," knowing the money I'd paid & tipped out of obligation got me a bunch of bone pain. I will note amount of experience doesn't necessarily indicate quality. Some people just never learn to master a skill through years of practice. It's completely possible they have years of experience of repeating the same motions and mistakes over and over. This isn't to say they aren't good at other crafts, but massage giving is not their forte. If you're looking for nothing more than a human touch, go here. If you're looking for a relaxing hour to treat yourself and unwind, this is not it. Learn from my optimism and resulting regret. read more

I was visiting the Carlsbad this weekend for Mother's Day. So I was walking by this massage place. I was like ok should I get a massage? Why not let's give a try dinner won't start until 7:00 pm I got couple hours. So I walked in a lady gave me warm welcome and I got 1 hour amazing massage. Bad experience. The owners were rude about the fact that two men were getting a couples massage. They couldn't believe we wanted to be in the same room when we came in, then they giggled when they walked in to the massage room. I bought a Groupon for a massage that was supposed to be a $119 value for $59, then Groupon gave me a separate additional 15%. When I was there though, they told me the massage's value/regular price was actually $60! 60 min couples massage: So much pain and soreness the evening of and morning after the massage which I've never had before. I woke up with vertigo the next day which has never happened to me. I asked for less pressure twice and after laughing she lowered the pressure for 2 mins then went right back. Masseuse left the room several times to answer the phone or greet other guests. They left the door OPEN to our massage room the entire time which leads directly into the lobby. The walls are so thin you can hear other guests going to the bathroom and toilet flushing. Each therapist left the room multiple times. One therapist answered and talked on the phone while giving my partner a one handed massage". Left door open to waiting room at end while we were naked. My therapist gave me a facial touching & I could smell her hands were dirty! Then scratched my scalp with her fingernails. Did not massage feet. Did not apply proper massage techniques at all. I give this place 0 stars and I have never even gotten a massage there. I wanted to get a 60 min massage on Sunday evening. I was a walk in. When I walk in, the woman greets me annoyingly. She just says "60 mins." I was asking her questions about the menu of options, and it stated $65 for aromatherapy and massage. I kept pointing to the menu asking about this service. She kept shaking her head saying 60 mins. I felt like there may have been a language barrier. Then I get my phone and ask her what language she speaks so I can ask her about aromatherapy. I keep asking about this service and the woman was so mad at me she made feel so incredibly uncomfortable. She was huffing and puffy, gets the other woman who are both sighing and just telling me 60 mins. She wouldn't let me translate on my app. Why would you have something on your menu that no one wants to do nor will let me ask about? DO NOT GO HERE. Been twice now. Great experiences both times. Other places I've been to are very weak on applying pressure, not the case here. I'm sure they will adjust to what you want, I didn't ask my masseuse to hold back and she didn't. I was at my pain threshold a couple times (I have injured my shoulder twice and have some lasting AC damage), but pushed through and it definitely helped loosen it up a bit more. Went here to relax with a friend but by far that was my experience . I got a hot stone deep tissue massage however it was more like a frantic rub down. I'm so disappointed and I don't even know where to start. I got there and immediately there was a stale smell threw out the "spa" they put me in the front room by the lobby which is by the street so you could here the street traffic. I thought they would have better more relaxing music playing other than the elevator music they had in the "lobby" to drown it out but they didn't . Once she started my massage I thought she would slow down with her movements or focus on one part of my body at a time but she would rub 2-4 times and then move on frantically . For example she would be doing my shoulders then move to the bottom part of my back or my legs ?! I was just waiting for it to be over honestly . She used way to much oil I think she kept grabbing more to waste time because she didn't know what to do or was inexperienced. Another customer came in and started talking to the receptionist it was at that point I noticed it sounded really close so I opened my eyes to see that the door to my room wasn't even closed ?! I was so uncomfortable. My masseuse ANGELA stoped 3 times during my massage once to give the receptionist change , another time she left for 3-5 min.. I think she actually went to the bathroom and another to answer a phone call ? Her cell phone started ringing and she put it on my bed for it to continue vibrating and then answered and stayed on the phone for about 5 min. The only point I actually enjoyed my massage was when she wasn't touching me with her hands and just was moving the hot rocks on my back . I hope the owner takes note of this and give constructive feedback so she can learn to hopefully improve on her skills . I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had this awful experience if they got her , I've been getting regular massages all my life and this was by far the worst. I visit on business the west coast a lot and I will not be going back here . I feel a little traumatized overall. My friend got a girl named COCO and said her massage was good on the other hand so if you want to chance your luck, maybe try her . I've been hesitant to write this review - I want to believe the owner / management of this Spa want to be successful and I honestly hope they are, but our couples massage was one of the worst we've ever had. Since Skinsational closed we were looking for a massage on the days we change vacation rental locations. Olive Leaf is convenient and the booking process was fairly smooth. The downside - the massage table was very uncomfortable, I was drenched in massage oil, my therapist took a call during my massage, my wife masseuse did not speak english and never quite got the pressure right. Top that off with a very noisy environment / lack of privacy and the Kenny G CD playing Christmas music in the background over and over - well it was not very relaxing. The positives - the hot stones were an unexpected surprise. I really wanted to like this place and return - sadly we will not. I hope others have a much better experience that we did. read more

Recently I was in search of a spa that could remove my lash extensions, as they caused a severe reaction and I was in a lot of pain. I called several places and of all the them, olive leaf spa was the only one who made time for me to do a walk in. Not only was the spa clean and comfortable, the staff was incredible.
