I had a Very unpleasant experience today. I booked a massage for myself and then my boyfriend wanted one as well so I called back and booked one for him as well and made it clear that he wanted a woman massage therapist. They had only scheduled for one massage and because I had called twice, they thought I Was really only calling for myself. This was very unprofessional because I clearly stated that I wanted it for my boyfriend and I gave his name. Their English isn't well spoken. My massage therapist clearly did not have any professional massage technique. It was obvious that she knew nothing about the muscles in the body and when the massage was over, I went to pay her $60 and I offered a $10 tip. She suggested I should give her a $20 tip because I liked the massage. I thought that it was an English barrier issue so we went around and around and by the third reiteration of her requiring a $20 tip, I caved and gave it to her because I just wanted to get out of there. It was a very awkward and unprofessional situation from the get-go. It's highly manipulative to demand a 30% tip. My boyfriend stuck to his guns and said I am giving you $10 in tip and that's it (for his massage). Oh yes, she made him pay before the massage in advance which is very unusual. And like other male reviewers he was only covered with a hand towel over his private parts. He was not given a sheet or blanket for privacy. He was very uncomfortable with that. When his massage was over, she asked for a $20 tip. We will never return. The lady gave me an apple and an orange when I left. I presume because she knew I wasn't happy with the booking process or paying the high tip. Like an apple and an orange is worth an extra $10 tip. Ridiculous, unprofessional, and manipulative. Checked out this place today since it had great reviews on Yelp. Called and they were able to get me in right away. Very clean and friendly staff. The ambiance in the massage room was very relaxing and comfortable. The massage itself was amazing! My masseuse had great pressure and even stretched me out at the end. Completely agree with the rest of the 1 star reviews. I normally get massages with my underwear on, but when the massage therapist walked in she told me I needed to take them off. I did, which I hugely regret. No blanket was used so I was freezing the whole time and when I was told to flip over things got even more awkward. I use this place regularly and am never disappointed. The place is clean and very efficient hence the low price. While there is no official receptionist I always feel welcome. I have experienced 4 different masseuses and all of them are talented and really good at what they do. My wife and I have been coming to this spa for over a year now. Neither one of us have had a bad experience with any of the staff. They are very flexible and generous with their time; to include staying later than normal to accommodate our individual schedules. Incredibly professional! The therapists show concern for my comfort during the treatment; continually asking if the pressure is okay and where I am sore. Outstanding place. Have had multiple massages at Chinese Holistic and all were theraputic and relaxing. Extremely clean facility. The ladies are very COVID conscious and clean thoroughly. Amazing massage for a tired momma. Having a 58 hour labor and a two week old little one may just about do anyone in. This place fully restored me. I have chronic issues with tmj and jaw pain and after labor and aweek in the hospital the jaw muscle were so tense my husband said it felt like bone when he was trying to rub it for me. Well my masseuse did an amazing one hour massage that not only relieved this pain but my soar and tired feet, my out of wack hips from ka boring and my should spasm pain from feeding and pumping. I just couldn't say enough good stuff about the stretching incorporated in the massage. Really revitalized me to go home and be a healthy and happy momma. When you first walk in, no reception, no place to sit, no one was even there, so i just stood there waiting. finally a lady walked in and said come on, no name no introduction just come in here get undressed. Demanded I pay before the massage not after I refused saying I wouldn't know how much to tip if I paid now and she was persistent but I still said no after I will pay. She Didn't ask me what i would like to her to work on, i laid down and i told her neck and back. When she took back the sheet she pretty much took it all the way to my calfs, that was awkward because my whole butt was showing, No privacy what so ever. She Sat down the whole massage and was very light although i told her i wanted deep because my back and neck have a lot of knots. She didn't even turn me over just left me on my stomach the whole time. She focused more on massaging my butt and than massaging what i told her my main reason i came in was. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Then, i paid her and yes i didn't tip her, she was so not worthy of a tip, very lazy massage therapist that was mad when she opened up the 50 dollar bill and was like uh no tip why, i started to tell her why and she was going off on me like YOU Americans are supposed to know how to tip, and so i continued with only massage therapists who actually massage gets tipped. She was like YOU get out of here NOW. I'm sorry, i never not tip, but all was very bad and disappointing.. Don't get me wrong i have had bad massages before but those therapists didn't sit on their butt the whole time and then not listen to what the point of my visit was. Sorry lady. Read "Hammer T.'s" previous review because she nailed it! No greeting, you pay now!!!! (before I even got undressed), took my underwear off without asking, massaged my butt more than anything else, did not listen when I told her that my low back was not the problem, was clearly not trained in any form of therapeutic massage and I could not locate a certification of any kind on the walls. BIG FINISH.........when I was leaving she stopped me in the hallway and said "You tip me." Because I'm a pushover, I said OK and handed her a $10 bill. She said "that it?" I replied yes and she scowled at me and stared at the $10. Had I not been in a hurry to get some knots worked out of my back before I left for a trip, I would've have scheduled my regular therapist, who IS licensed AND board certified, IS polite, charges $10 more than this scam of an operation, and to my knowledge, has never asked for, let alone demanded, a tip. Final thought: go to a real massage therapist who is grateful to have your business, spent hours in school learning proper techniques and doesn't sit down on the job. read more
