Worst massage ever! On Thursday, 7 March at 6:45pm, I paid $90 for a 90-minute body treatment. The therapist assigned to me spent 50-minutes working on my back and only my back. Prior to the therapy session, I made it very clear to the therapist that I needed her to focus on my legs in addition to the normal body treatment. I made it clear that I am an avid road bike rider and that my legs were tight due to a 16-mile bike ride I completed earlier in the day. I had to terminate the session at 50-minutes because the therapist kept treating my back and only my back. So disappointing!! I complained to the manager on duty who made no attempt to reconcile with me for the $90 paid for the session. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Zero stars for this spa. Stay away. read more

About a week ago, I went in for an hour long deep tissue massage. I got about 10 minutes of mediocre deep tissue followed by 50 minutes of light, unhelpful body massage. I went back today and asked for them to walk on my back, which helped in the past. The same massage therapist tried to talk me out of it and asked if I could do a deep tissue instead. I told her that I just had a deep tissue massage from her, and it was not helpful. I believe that she didn't want to spend the time to set up the rails on the bed. After convincing her, that is what I wanted she spent the 10 minutes. The therapist spent the first 10 minutes of the 60 I had paid for, walking on my back. The remaining time before I walked out early was once again useless body work. The equivalent to someone rubbing you with a wash rag. I stopped her about 40 minutes into the hour and asked her when she was going to do the work that I paid for? She said it is a whole body massage and due to my age not be able to handle any more. Note: I am 59 all original parts and in great shape. I asked is that all I get is 10 minutes of something that was effective and the remainder unhelpful body work? I believe she is lazy and is incapable of giving a full hour of an intense massage. I walked out 20 minutes early. On my way out, I was offered a cup of water as usual. I stated that it was not needed for the 10 minute massage I just received. Long story short, I will not return. read more

By the end of my session she was waiting in the lobby to give me water and she looked freaking 8 month preggo!!! No wonder my message was decent. Then I paid for my services and gave a tip and I got a response for more of a tip and I said "excuse me?" and she said "oh, nothing" and walked away holding back the preggo lady. My hubby and I had a Groupon deal that we had to use before end of July. So I had a lady that understood English very well. When treated me, before she did anything to me she would let me know what she was doing to me. Once we both finished I gave my lady her tip, she said thank you. My hubby said that his masseuse was decent, just when we finished the massage we gave a tip. I just recently visited this place, not having gotten a massage since this COVID 19 mess started. My fears were alleviated right away when I saw all the staff wearing masks, and the whole facility was obviously kept very clean and sanitary. But the best thing was getting a superb massage after so long! Lilly was my therapist and it became very evident that she is well-trained! She listened very well to my requests for special attention to certain areas (despite some language barriers), and gave extra special attention to my lower back and my shoulders - giving deep tissue where necessary. So sad about the experience I had here. It was a few months ago at this point, but it was truly traumatizing. I had been here only once before and Emily had given me a 90 minute massage. She was excellent and we had a nice chat and I was looking forward to many more massages. I returned a few weeks later and had a 90 minute massage. Again, a very pleasant experience. When I went to pay (charge was $90) I realized I only had $100 bill in my wallet (the rest of my money I had left in the car). My intention was to go to my car for an additional $10 or $20 to add to the tip (I wasn't sure exactly what I had in the car). As I was handing her the $100 bill and before I could let her know I would be back in, she began literally yelling "no, no, no" at me. I was completely caught off guard and had no idea what she was yelling at me for. I thought I had misunderstood the price of the massage (which was $90) or thought maybe they didn't accept $100 bills. She then berated me and also angrily spoke to her co-worker in another language. She yelled at me because $10 was not enough of a tip. I was literally speechless! Last I checked, "tips" are optional and subjective. I am an excellent tipper for excellent service. It was truly horrifying how she was treating me (and we had such a nice exchange both times). I guess she was only pretending to be nice. I left and will NEVER return. I would have been a long time customer and as I said my intention was to come back in to give her an additional tip, but I was certainly not under any obligation to do so. I was treated to a massage by my bestie for my birthday here. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because I had a hard time understanding the staff. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was very friendly. The massage was phenomenal. I haven't had the hot stones before and, let me tell you, I will now be requesting them everywhere I go. Bad experience with new ownership :( The old owner was very nice and I had an awesome experience so I bought a giftcard for a friend. When she went in to redeem her giftcard, the new owner would not accept it and was very rude to my friend. The gift certificate did not expire till December 2014 and they refused to honor it, even acknowledging that the signature on the gift card was the previous owner. They are still operating under the same license and same name to November 2014. Bad business practices don't go there. read more

This place has a curtain that provides privacy for a two chair foot massage area. The other massage chair was vacant during my massage, so I had the room to myself. The woman that did my massage was super friendly, but spoke zero English. Doesn't bother me because I don't come to a place like this to converse. The massage was very different from any other foot massage I've ever had. She gave a great massage and also massaged areas that no one else ever has: she rubbed the inside of my ears, the very tips of my toes and under my knee caps. I loved everything about this massage, but the reason for 4 stars and not 5 is wholly dependent on the fact that she used gloves for my foot massage. I came here with a Groupon. Just moved to the area and was looking for a new massage therapist. Got there at 7:10 for a 90 minute massage. I ended up in a room that was about 12 inches bigger than the massage table. Next to the kitchen and bathroom. The place smelled really bad. Like fish or somebody's gross microwaved dinner. The table was not comfortable. The face hole was covered with a really really scratchy towel. The massage therapist came in 5+ minutes later. She spent another 5 minutes straightening the room and I guess you could say, warming up my back. Light rub through sheet. I immediately got the feeling massage therapist was not experienced. She started with no pressure and escalated to major pressure within minutes. I had to stop her because she was putting WAY too much pressure on my neck and spine. She spent the better part of the massage digging into my spine with her knuckles or elbow. I like a firm massage, so I appreciated her effort, but I actually had to stop her a couple times because she was really hurting me. It was part awesome and part extremely painful. I could not communicate with her effectively to guide her correctly. She stopped the massage at 8:25. She spent over an hour on my back and about 10 mins on my front. I was actually kind of relieved because it was the least relaxing massage I have ever had. I paid for 90 mins, but got 75-80 at best. I was inclined not to tip because she had really hurt me. Almost to tears. I will probably be suffering for months. I gave her $10. She acted like I handed her a stinky turd. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Ruby Spa. I realize that there are compromises that come with "Oriental" Spas and therapists that do not speak English. I know I need to weigh the odds when getting lower priced personal services and not being able to convey preferences. This place is not worth the gamble to me. read more

Diamond in the rough- Found on a Groupon, (but I believe cash is always better) & was very impressed! Was hoping to just get a relaxing Swedish couples massage but we both were delighted! First greeted by Emily (mngr?) then offered juice, water or Mimosas! She was running a bit behind and we booked very last minute, so we had enough time to enjoy our complimentary champagne. Room was quaint, not a lotta frills here, but considering I was face down nbd. Lily & Emily were our masseuses and they were fabulous! We were remodeling our home all month and probably really needed a chiropractor but were very happy with the amount of pressure and obvious experience of both these women, even shiatsu. Massage included wet towel rub down in between for oil and then ended with some reflexology that included a salt scrub from calf to toe then another wet towel. Definitely a great find, we will be back! Only thing I would've changed is music, there was none towards the front of the building but could hear some spa like music towards the back, maybe patch in to a chill playlist next time? Been here four times and obsessed. The price so good that I can get two hour-long massage at same cost that I can get just one hour-long session at Massage Envy. Massages are fantastic, the therapists understand pressure points. I got cranial, shoulders, neck, back ,arms,hands,legs and feet rub. My therapist got all up in the knots and joints and sore spots. I highly doubt that the women providing the services here are legitimate certified massage therapists nor that this is a legal and legitimate business because the employees here are unable to communicate with the clients (language barrier) to perform a massage safely and inappropriately touch their clients. During the massage session performed on myself and my husband, they did not behave professionally at all. They did not ask for any information from us regarding what we wanted from the massage, what we did or did not want to be worked on, medical history, injuries, allergies, etc. On top of this we were sexually assaulted and was forced to listen to another client finish his session in another room with a very audible masturbation. We were unable to communicate to the supposed therapists to stop the massage or that we did not want to be touched in that manner. They moved our undergarments to access areas we did not want to be touched, without asking for permission. They also did not securely drape us and frequently exposed our bodies and worked under the sheet. We left, with bruises and scratches, as quickly as possible to avoid causing a scene. We are both in pain from the massage due to the aggressive pressure and technique of the "therapists", particularly over the upper back and spine. Elbows were pressed repeatedly over the spine, plus a very rough treatment of our necks and limbs. We repeatedly tried to tell them to stop and that what they were doing was hurting and inappropriate. They didn't listen, and we were in too compromised of a position to much more than endure before we can flee. I cannot provide the names of the women that worked on us because they were not displayed and the names were of an Asian language I cannot spell. Their actions were criminal, if I could give no stars I would. Do not go here and do not let your friends, family, coworkers, significant others, or anybody else to come here either. Came here on a whim after my dentist appointment. I have been in some serious pain and was desperate for any relief. I did a test run $25 for 30 minutes. 10 minutes in I was in love and wanting to add another 30 minutes. One of the best massages I've had in a long time. I'm coming back in 2 days for an hour! I've gone here for 4 or 5 years now and loved the place. Always 5 stars for customer service and the massage. Tom was great. I usually went two timea a month. New owners took over about two months ago and I've gone twice. The prices have all gone up, they now charge extra for using a credit card and don't tell you that BEFORE they give you the massage and they tell you home much to tip even if the massage was sub-par. The first time it was a foot massage, which was just alright, but not as good as it used to be. The second time I for a full body and it was excellent which is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars and not two. I alternate between a deep-tissue massage focusing on my legs (for when I am especially active) to a relaxing make-me-fall-asleep massage. The therapists use hot stones during the treatment and it's also routine for them to wipe-off the massage oil with hot towels--perfect so you don't have to rush home and take a shower. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. Sheets and towels are always clean and fresh. If you like essential oils, they will add it to your massage oil at no extra charge. Purchased a Groupon for a custom couples aromatherapy massage with beverages and a foot rub. When we got there, the beverages were Sunny D in a wine glass. When it was time to be lead to our room, it ended up being a curtained section in the middle of their establishment, no door or anything. We weren't sure what to do for about 5 minutes because they didn't tell us to undress or anything. After about 5 minutes, we realized this was our "room" so we undressed and got under the "sheet", which was a very rough,paper thin cloth. The masseuse massaged us for 20 minutes over the sheet which was not nice. The bright lights were left on the entire time and we had to lay on a paper towel where our face goes, no pillow with a hole so it was hard to breathe. My husband later informed me that eventhough he left his underwear on, the masseuse kept trying to pull them down. What kind of establishment is this?! The foot rub was a sugar scrub on dry skin which was very painful. When we were asked to roll over, they placed a CHILDS WASH CLOTH on our faces to cover our eyes. This place is a joke. I've gone to many of these Asian massage places. They definitely can be hit or miss. My first experience here was unfortunately a miss. When I walked in the woman (who wound up doing my massage) didn't speak any English. Not even a little. She literally knew absolutely zero of the English language. She had to go to the back to get someone to translate. This person was another masseuse who I believe was in the middle of a massage. This should have been my first clue to just leave. I was in a lot of pain that day. I had a horrible migraine to include awful neck and shoulder tension. I chose to get the 60 minute full body massage for $40. Obviously that is a great price. Now on to the actual massage. When she walked me to the room I still didn't realize that she was going to be my masseuse. She was unable to communicate to me whether or not I needed to take of my clothes or leave them on. Some places have you leave them on. I wound up taking them off and thought gosh I hope this is right. Lol it was. Then she came back in and that's when I got worried. How was I supposed to communicate to her about by migraine, neck and shoulders. I thought well maybe she will feel the giant knots. She didn't. The massage itself was just not good. She massaged my shoulder blade bones on my back (for a long time), she got dangerously close to my arm pits several time (that really tickled), and when she did massage my neck her hands would wrap so far around my neck that she was choking me. I did at one point half way through try to explain to her what I wanted, but she she didn't understand me at all. I wound up just letting her do whatever. I will say that she did do a great job massaging my legs and feet, and had that been the source of my pain I would have been happy. When the massage was over I was still in complete agony she only massaged my head neck and shoulders for a few minutes. I went to the front to pay, and there was a guy at the desk. I asked him if he spoke English. Thankfully he did. I explained to him what happened. I could tell he felt sympathetic. He felt my neck and shoulders, and offered to give me a 15 minute chair massage. He was able to work out some of the tension, his technique was amazing. Unfortunately, the 15 minutes was more like 7 or 10. I wound up paying and leaving a $6 tip. I was feeling so awful that day that I really didn't complain all that much. I just wish this place had a chart or something that had key words/pictures to point to. It might make communication a little easier on both ends. This was such a terrific little spa to get a really good massage in a peaceful ambiance. Both Jenny & Tom were excellent, although different in technique. I called for an appmt in March and was told Tom was in China and Jenny was ill so I had a massage with another lady. She didn't concentrate on the specific areas I needed to have worked on. I have medical issues, some areas need strong pressure, others light....didn't seem that confusing but she didn't seem to listen or ask for feedback. I didn't feel much relief so only tipped $6.00 and was told that wasn't enough. I replied a tip was for exceptional service and this service didn't warrant any tip! I called back about 3 weeks later and was told both Jenny & Tom were gone and new owners for a month. I guess that explains the difference in experience. Went to Ruby Spa for the first time and I'm hooked. Told them where my pain was and the owner guy (I think) didn't stop til all my knots were out. Even busted out hot rocks out of nowhere. Only downsides they were pretty dead, which is great in that I didn't have an appointment and was able to walk in and start right away but he did have to leave a few times to talk to people. First time customer. Had the 90 minute full body massage. The room was very cold. Not the usual massage table. Face hole was made into the table. It was covered up with a towel and a paper. I couldn't see it at first so I literally couldn't breathe. It really hurt my forehead, very uncomfortable. The Groupon picture shows a person of color giving the massage but the massuses are Chinese. The massage lady never told me what to expect, like this is going to be cold, this is going to be hot, or do you have any areas I should concentrate on. Never filled out a form. They actually made me give a certain amount for a tip. I told the lady that I don't tip. I paid for the service. She said that Americans do tip. I told her that there wasn't a law that says I have to tip. They charge $1.00 if you are paying with a credit card. The massage was EXCELLENT!! but the accommodations were not. Will I go back?
