I can wholeheartedly recommend Uplift for people of all levels of fitness and experience. Whether…read moreyou are interested in staying fit, getting fit, getting healthy, really whatever that involves fitness and nutrition, Nancy and team will work for you and with you to make it happen. For context about me, I have been gym-phobic my entire life. I could never really get into exercise because I got bored with the routine and lacked the discipline. I've had gym membership multiple times but always lost interest and ended up wasting a lot of money. I wasn't happy with my level of fitness pre-COVID, but things got much worse during COVID for obvious reasons. My wife and I discussed this multiple times and we agreed that we should give personal training a shot. She found Nancy and arranged a meeting - I was skeptical but decided to go anyway. When we walked in, we told Nancy that we were not ready to commit which surprised her because she said the consultation we were about to have was only for people who were ready to commit. My wife was ready to commit but I was not. Nancy graciously let us continue the consultation without my commitment, and I begrudgingly ended up committing later because my wife and I had decided to do this together. Best. Decision. I. Have. Ever. Made. For the first two to three weeks, it was hard and I was not totally bought in but kept coming. As I got to know Nancy and learn more about her program, I realized that she truly cared about me as a person as well as my success in meeting my goals. She built a personalized program around me, had the most patience that I have ever been afforded in a gym, and offered nutrition tips while providing an easy to follow/commit to program for nutrition. The fitness program changes often which ensures I never get bored, and it's clear that the program is personalized because everyone in the gym is almost always doing something different even though we are working out at the exact same stations. When I've occasionally had to cancel multiple sessions in a row, Nancy would reach out to check in on everything and make sure I was ok, offering as much support as she could, whether it was emotional, physical, whatever. Since then, I have been a regular and I have honestly not felt this good physically in a long time. Uplift is truly a family, and Nancy makes sure that people who train together (up to 5 together at a time MAX but often less than that) know each other's names, encourages people to share information about themselves, etc. She will even tailor playlists to people's individual tastes, which she remembers for each of her members. I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience at Uplift. Nancy and team, thank you for everything you have done to help me be more healthy and more confident in the gym! For everyone else, if you are on the fence about joining, jump over it, you won't regret it! PS - Glenn is also awesome! While him and Nancy have totally different styles, they share the care, positivity, and family spirit that makes Uplift what it is. If you can, try to schedule time with both of them, you'll thank me for it!

Uplift takes a wholistic approach to fitness, including lifestyle, nutrition, and flexibility. Trying out Pilates has been a desire for the better part of a decade, perhaps longer. After looking…read moreup options and asking around (and finding that there wasn't much for Vida Pilates here on Yelp) I decided to give a test run at Vida Pilates. After about 3 weeks with 2 classes a week, I am continuing and all the more excited for each class. DECIDING ON PRIVATE CLASSES / WHY VIDA: Knowing that Pilates is all about specialized movement and that form is important as well as little adjustments and refinements can improve the exercise and impact the results, I wanted to have a private instructor get me off on the right foot before going into group classes (Why be in a larger class and not know if what I'm doing is benefiting me the most -- I want to know that my time and investment is going as far as it can with the capability of my body. Having a dedicated Pilates instructor coach has given me this satisfaction.) I wanted the real deal Pilates before considering a blending of other things (there's documented research on Pilates but not much on the other things. Vida Pilates is Pilates, not "Pilates-inspired"). VIDA PILATES: Vida Pilates had a new client 3 private class special that I initially booked and have since booked a package of private classes. My Pilates instructor is Nina, who is fantastic. Before meeting, she asked me about my injury history and anything that would assist her. I told her about my health and fitness goals. With this she has been tailoring our sessions to meet my needs. Based on my feedback/desire, Nina has provided me with a couple of simple stretches to continue between classes. Since starting the private classes, I tested out the Vida gym with a Pilates mat class (again with Nina) and loved the challenge that provided too. You do not need to join the Vida gym to take the Pilates reformer classes (private or group). The Pilates mat classes are part of the gym membership (and with the day rate, currently $35). Nina also offers the mat classes privately and uses contemporary and classical Pilates in these classes. HOW TO BEGIN AFTER BOOKING: At this time, there is no information on the Vida Pilates or Vida gym websites how to schedule your private sessions, nothing in their FAQs, and no instructions provided after I booked the initial new client package. I called Vida, and they provided me with an email, and it was sorted out easily, but the process could use some improvement. There is a Vida Pilates app and a Vida gym app. I suggest downloading the Pilates app to show your booking at the front desk when you arrive. FUTURE: I can see myself getting into group classes in the future while also continuing with private classes. I enjoy and see the progress being made with Nina. I am excited for this Pilates journey!

After 8 weeks of weekly sessions with Ryan I totally forgot about my frozen shoulder, felt great, lost body fat. So I decided to continue my pilates training, then TRX and a combination of both. Now, after 8 years of training with Ryan I achieved the results I ever imagined was possible -at my 55 I am in much better shape than when I was 25 years old, as I always hated to exercise! Ryan is an outstanding trainer - he is very knowledgeable, patient, motivational, focuses on my specific goals and problems (scoliosis is just one of them) - always varies exercises to create an effective workout for me, combining pilates, TX, assisted stretching. I highly recommend Twist Pilates to anyone who wants to live a better life!

I just never did it. I hated sweating, I felt out of place and insecure at the gym. I never learned how to find a sport or exercise I enjoyed and so I just never did it. I had just accepted that I was not an "exercise" person. I don't remember the catalyst for reaching out to Amy at CenterPointe three years ago -- I think I had gained some weight and figured I would try moving my body. I started with some one-on-one sessions and eventually added some of the easier classes that CenterPointe offers. From the very beginning, Amy MET ME WHERE I WAS. She is warm and funny and caring. She taught me about MY body. About how my muscles work and how doing different stretches, lifts, exercises are supposed to feel in my body. She taught me where my hamstrings are. She taught me where the line of "too much" really is and how to listen to my body. The list goes on. And not-so-slowly over time, I got stronger. I LEARNED TO DEADLIFT. The lovely woman who *hated* exercise was DEADLIFTING, like what! I experimented and found the exercises I really enjoyed (dare I say LOVE) and that made my body feel better. I also refused to ever do a burpee and Amy never made me. In the past three years, I have taken breaks from working out and have also returned, and each time, Amy meets me where I am. My perspective about my body, my strength, and my power has all shifted over the past three years because of Amy and CenterPointe. If you are searching for a non-judgemental gym to help to discover your strength and learn about your body, I encourage you to try CenterPointe.

They and my RtB classmates were super welcoming, supportive, and encouraging. Programming-wise, RtB is similar to CrossFit. Every workout starts with a warm-up that is related to the day's main workout. The main workout is usually a compound lift plus conditioning/accessory work, intense conditioning work, or some kind of running/sprinting. The coaches make sure to work with your level--what they ask you to do is adjusted for whether you have been doing heavy back squats for years or can't squat to parallel, whether you can do five unassisted pull-ups in a row or are working up to assisted pull-ups through inverted rows. They also happily work around whatever injury you may have, coming up with alternative exercises that avoid stressing the injury. And they keep track of your progressions on various exercises and recommend how much weight to lift/how deep to move, so you don't have to guess what you should be doing. They can do this because class sizes are capped at around 8 people. It's as much attention as you might want from a one-on-one personal trainer, but much, much more affordable if you work out frequently. In the three months that I had the pleasure of attending RtB, I did an unassisted pull-up for the first time in my life and vastly improved my form for both Olympic lifts (with which I had little prior experience) and powerlifting lifts (with which I had years of prior experience). I was having trouble progressing beyond intermediate strength standards because my form was off, and RtB has so noticeably improved my form that I look forward to seeing what I can do in the upcoming year. Whether you have little experience with exercise and don't know where to start, or have been exercising for a while but are feeling stuck, CenterPointe RtB has the individualized, attentive coaching and focus on form that you need!

Over time, I got stronger in ways I hadn't experienced before, and the recurring lower back pain I had dealt with for years resolved completely. That alone felt huge! But just as important was everything I learned along the way: how to breathe properly, how to move better, how to build strength in a way that actually feels sustainable. There's a calm, thoughtful quality to how Deep trains. He tailors my workouts to incorporate yoga and breathwork in addition to lifting weights. I appreciate his focus on mental and emotional strength in addition to physical strength. He helped me understand what my body needs and how to build habits that actually last. Deep is also very perceptive and his thoughtfulness makes the whole process feel supportive rather than transactional.
