    Torture chamber!!! :)
    Julie L.

Im not sure what kind of spell they put on me but I did my first class last week. My out of shape body was dying all through class, Yet here I am going back in just a few hours... Upon reflection, I think my return to torture can be chalked up to a few important aspects of my experience. 1) Charly was the manager and instructor that day. She went out of her way to take care of me as a newbie. She texted ahead of time, spent some extra time w me before class, was welcoming, encouraging and made me feel ok about being there even though totally out of shape. She was a great instructor, helped me through class, was ok with me taking breaks and gave me a big high 5/hug after class. Awesome customer service! 2) although it literally took me a week to recover, I feel like my body woke up! I feel a little bit stronger and that feels awesome! They recommend 2-3 times per week but since it took my body 1 week to recover, im going to start out with once per week. Just listening to my body. 3) there is a company culture of getting to know people. I liked that. This adams morgan location is a short walk from home and that encouragement of community was nice. 4) the studio was great! Beautiful use of space, good music, nice reformers. 5) the girlfriend i went with needed some fuel before class. They have a nice system of creating an account for you that you can charge classes and other items too. My friend got an organic protein shake that she enjoyed. She just signed a paper above the fridge. Streamlined touch that I liked. 6) they gave me welcome rates on my first 2 classes and followed up with an intro deal on a 5 pack. ALL OF THAT over rode the pain my body was in so that Im coming back. :) (well, epsom salt baths all week helped too!)

They had bags for my sweaty clothes. A nice touch that was much needed!

I loved it! Great work out! I would add all 5 if the beds are wiped well between sessions and if the instructor factors in a 3-5 min stretch

I did both beginner classes here and solidcore and found that while I got a little burn/soreness the day after, District Pilates felt more like a stretch Pilates class. Solidcore was harder and I really felt I was working my entire body - wish they had followed up after my 3 day promo was up Overall a good starting point and would recommend for starting out.

There are 7 reformers (yay small classes) with a chair and a ton of props to use throughout the workout. I've been to a few of the instructors and liked them all. The workout is challenging and you can really feel your legs, arms, glutes working in each posture. The studio has lovely and colorful art work and small seating area at the front. If you are looking for a good reformer workout I highly recommend this studio. Location: Conveniently located in Logan circle with plenty of street parking and many restaurants nearby to try after your class.

I love SC so to me this wasn't necessarily a bad thing but do keep in mind this class pushes you to muscle failure rather than focus fully on Pilates form. I came for a 430 Ariana Grande class and didn't realize they don't really have a "waiting" area since they keep the doors to the room locked. They have one restroom available and then you just leave your shoes out in the open. The studio itself is gorgeous and has such great natural lighting. Check in was easy and my instructor was very helpful in explaining the machine and the class. The class itself was about 80% similar to SC with maybe a little traditional Pilates and some stretching. A hard and good workout but wasn't what I thought it would be but still enjoyed it. The class is around 40-45 minutes so you don't get as long of a class for the money. They didn't play any Ariana Grande which was a bummer since I looked forward to the theme. Overall clean and aesthetic studio but very similar to studios I'm already a member of and with slightly less amenity space, I am not sure which is a better bang for your buck.

Every single instructor teaches such incredible classes and has great instructors like I barely look at whose name I'm signing up for. The strength and cardio slay. The class times are perfect. Everyone is friendly and positive and uplifting. They have dry shampoo in the bathrooms. The studio is beautiful like the brick and plants everywhere are so good. It's so clean and they give you a disinfecting wipe (not Clorox like a good wipe) for your props at the end so the props aren't grimy. It smells good because of the lemon candle they use. In general just such a positive space and the vibe is not to hate on your body it's to modify and like be balanced and functional The essential oils is what I will especially highlight because basically at the end of class they waft around these essential oils during breathwork and I am in loveeee with it!!!!! If it wasn't for the welcoming atmosphere and convenient location of Woodley Park Yoga, I don't know if I would've kept up my practice. As a newbie to yoga, I take the beginner class on Saturdays at 11am and the guided quarter primary class on Tuesdays at 7pm, both taught by Elsie. She has a calming voice, goes over the poses for new folks, and encourages you through the more difficult poses. The beginner class is easier if you've at least tried yoga at another studio or at home with YouTube videos. Be prepared to sweat a little! The studio is sizeable and allows 13-15 people max depending on the class. You can store your yoga mat in the back room, and there are wipes for your mat. I don't usually see blocks or towels readily available, but ask if you need them. The studio is on the third floor of a four-story building in Woodley Park, above Uni Sushi (no elevator). There's a small bathroom in the back of the studio. If I can think of only one downside, it's not being able to pay for classes online in advance, even though you can reserve your spot online. You need to go to the studio and purchase classes directly with the teacher, which takes time before/after class if you're waiting for others to pay too. Better to just buy a pack of 5, 10, or 20 classes if you plan to come back regularly. Checking in relies a bit on the honor system: you write your name on a card and the number of classes, then cross each number off when you show up to class. Whether your a seasoned yogi or a newbie like me, I highly recommend dropping in Woodley Park Yoga for a class!
