Suck a lovely experience and I was lucky enough to train with the owners who was SO SWEET and the class killed me so PLUS PLUS!! Can't wait to go back. Have only had 3 instructors but they were all better than any class I've had so far in DC and I'm from NY Pilates. read more

OVERALL: good workout but it's more like stretch Pilates PROS: - small studio with I believe only 7 reformers = lots of individualized attention - if you're new to Pilates the individualized attention is great and adds to a safe and welcoming environment - clean - friendly staff - socks on pilates (they sell sticky socks) - great 3 class for $79(?) promo CONS - fills up quickly bc there are only 7 reformers - it's not as hard as solidcore. I did both beginner classes here and solidcore and found that while I got a little burn/soreness the day after, District Pilates felt more like a stretch Pilates class. Solidcore was harder and I really felt I was working my entire body - wish they had followed up after my 3 day promo was up Overall a good starting point and would recommend for starting out. read more

I love District Pilates and had been regularly a few years ago. I recently visited again with a friend as a birthday gift and honestly it's just getting better. There are 7 reformers (yay small classes) with a chair and a ton of props to use throughout the workout. I've been to a few of the instructors and liked them all. The workout is challenging and you can really feel your legs, arms, glutes working in each posture. The studio has lovely and colorful art work and small seating area at the front. If you are looking for a good reformer workout I highly recommend this studio. Location: Conveniently located in Logan circle with plenty of street parking and many restaurants nearby to try after your class. read more

Came to an intermediate class the other day and while I enjoyed it and thought the instructor was helpful (clear instructions, and always checked the spring weight to make sure everyone was doing well), it wasn't as intense as I had hoped it would be. Typically I'm sore for a day or so after an intermediate class at other places, but this particular class was almost like a stretch Pilates class. I would try again on another day to see how lessons vary. read more

District Pilates runs the two best pilates studios in D.C. I've been going to them for years, and not only are the instructors here are super well trained, but they really care about their clients. They are essential to my exercise routine. read more

Love taking classes at District Pilates. I've been going recently as an alternative to Solidcore when I'm looking for a more classic pilates class. The intermediate classes are great for someone with a little pilates experience who is looking for a great burn. Bailey, the owner, is an amazing instructor. I love that the classes are max ~7 people so you can get great individualized attention and corrections. The environment is overall very welcoming. Would definitely recommend! read more

District Pilates - The Shaw studio! - Pilates Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I think this business is closed. I've been trying to reach out to them for a few weeks to see about classes and no one has answered and nobody has responded. Their website is also no longer working. read more

Great small business! Have had classes with two experienced instructors who provide individual guidance. Welcoming and positive atmosphere! Impresses with customer service when I had a special request. Recommend! read more

Took my first class, intermediate level, at District Pilates and I loved every minute of it. Julia gave detailed step-by-step instructions from movement to movement. It was a great combination of strength training, stretching and core exercises. My favorite part was the box, separate from the reformer, which is amazing for the core. I've taken pilates at other studios but I've never been overly impressed enough to come back. I would definitely come back and I see why it is 5 stars. read more

The instructors are wonderful. I was new to pilates when I started here, and the instructors I worked with made a point of personalizing my workout. I eventually built my way up to the rest of the class, but I avoided injuring myself in the beginning. Highly recommend! read more

For starters, just try it. If you're having doubts, they have new client deals so it's low risk for your wallets. Worst case scenario, you don't like it, then you can just stop going. You don't have to commit to anything. I've also had my fair share of injuries but pilates doesn't aggravate them. They keep track of your injuries. They've provided me with modifications - sometimes I switched, but sometimes I've also stayed. The instructors were fine with either as long as I was comfortable. I've taken classes with Bailey and Valentina and they were great! Also, I think it's important to note that I've done pilates in Chicago, Michigan, Houston, etc. It's my go-to workout when I travel so I try to check out different studios and instructors. I've gotten some crappy instructors before, but these 2 were definitely not crap. The other clients are also great. I've never felt uncomfortable. Because of my injuries, I've had to take things slower, but the other clients don't judge you. They're just there doing their own thang too haha read more

I love this studio! I have been taking reformer classes here until the quarantine hit. Minsu was my favorite instructor. My thighs were always shaking in class. I can really feel how challenging this class is on my abs. My email communications with the owner Bailey, she has always been super friendly and a joy to reach out to with anything. read more

I came to District Pilates for both mat and reformer classes, and had Laura as an instructor, who was great! She was very knowledgeable and helpful to our class. It seemed like many of us had athletic backgrounds, but the exercises (especially the reformer) were challenging, and I definitely got a good workout in each time. I would definitely recommend that others take classes at this location! The studio is also conveniently located about a 5 minute walk from the Shaw metro station, so it's easy to get to if you have metro access! read more

I honestly cannot remember how I found DP but I. Am. In. LOVE. Unlike at least one other reformer-oriented workout in the area (I did [solidcore] back in 2013), this boutique studio is far from intimidating and all about ensuring you have a good workout in an inviting atmosphere. No mean girls/guys students; friendly instructors; and a great workout all in this neighborhood gem. Because the class has a 6-student max., the instructors are super attentive. I love hearing them say, "good job, Mia!" - seriously, having the coach call you by name is such a big deal for me. Anyway, I love that they really work to correct form and offer modifications if a student is working through an injury or can't quite get the exercise for whatever reason. I've taken classes with Valentina; Greg; Bailey; Rishon and Stephanie. All have been really, really good. Another BIG BONUS is that they offer 3-levels of classes. The Beginner class is perfect for those who have never done pilates on a reformer (or pilates at all). You learn the key/common phrases/position names and have an opportunity to build confidence. The props are awesome too, as they force a targeted workout. There is music, but it's kept at a level that is absolutely appropriate for focusing on form and breathing. I actually only hear it (like focus on it) if the instructor mentions something about a song or an artist. I'm so into my breathing and perfecting the movement, the outside world disappears. I love it. I think that's my favorite part of District Pilates: for 55 minutes, it's me, my 5 fellow pilates peeps and our coach. Nothing else matters. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of their new client specials. No regrets! read more

First time ever taking Pilates and now I'm obsessed! I had the opportunity of having Leah C. as my instructor and she made sure to have a great variety of music!! Totally great at making sure I hit all the right positions properly. I will say It was a total body workout and I was feeling it all in these arms and legs the next day.... we'll actually all week . I can't wait to go back!!! read more

District Pilates - Pilates Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

As a Class Pass member, I've taken a variety of Pilates classes around DC, and I can say with certainty that this is my favorite studio. I genuinely look forward to every class I have with Bailey. Her energy is infectious but not in an annoying over-enthusiastic fitness trainer sort of way. Walking into the studio feels like walking into a group of friends catching up after a long weekend. Every class I've taken has been challenging and inspiring. I always leave feeling better in my body than I felt when I walked arrived. If you've never tried Pilates, I recommend that you do. I was a yogi for years until I found reformer Pilates and got hooked. One of my favorite fitness quotes is "The most effective workout out there is the one you'll actually do." I'm happy to say that District Pilates has reacquainted me with what it feels like to love exercising again. Thanks for being such a great studio! read more

I really like this studio. Technically, I've been here a lot, back when it was Reformation Fitness' pilates studio. It doesn't really look any different now except some new paint and new equipment (I dig the pastel colors). The teachers are awesome, Bailey and Greg are great teachers for any level of Pilates experience that you have. They are both super nice and encouraging. I'm excited to see Christina on the schedule now too - I've taken Pilates classes with her at Yoga District for years and she is the best. I'm on classpass and classes are not always available on that, but when they are I sign up immediately! read more

Greg is absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend going to his classes. He will kick your butt in the best way possible! His classes are different every single time and will leave you feeling challenged and sore before you even finish your walk home. By far my favorite instructor. I only got into pilates about 4 months ago and it is truly transformative. District Pilates & Greg come with my highest recommendation! read more

The only class I really liked at Reformation Fitness is now its own studio! I love love love these classes - by far the best reformer class in DC. Amazing attention to form and so so welcoming. Also the last time I was here we were discussing the election for Speaker of the House during the warm-up section. Such a DC experience. read more

I had never tried Pilates before, and was quite frankly intimidated by the look of the reformer (rhymes with torture?) machines. Lydia did an amazing job getting me up to speed very quickly with how to follow along and get the most out of these incredible workouts. She was patient, encouraging, and whipped the class of mixed abilities into a hard sweat. I have been back several times after first trying it a few weeks ago and will continue to take her classes at District Pilates. read more

I went to District Pilates today on a whim. I found it by googling Pilates studios nearby as I am in town visiting my brother before thanksgiving. I really enjoyed my class a lot and would be happy to return to the studio on a future visit. The instructors also gave me an excellent lunch suggestion for afterward which was AMAZING. Great place. read more

I took an intermediate reformer class here, it was underwhelming and uninspired. Nothing really intermediate about it except a couple moves, which really pulled my pelvis in an odd way. We did "may" things in the carriage bed, why sign up for a reformer class then. Teacher had cell phone in his hand the entire class. Canceled my class for the next day. read more

District Pilates is by far my favorite exercise studio in DC. Bailey, the owner, is amazing. I'm on Class Pass and I took classes with her before she opened DP. I was always impressed with her individualized instruction and her genuine desire to get to know her clients. Because she pays attention, she knows how to challenge each person, even in a group setting. She's instilled this philosophy in her team too. I've taken a lot of classes with Rishon too and she's fantastic. The studio is the perfect size and focuses solely on reformer Pilates. It truly is a boutique experience - they take care of all of the little details...small things like changing your springs, adjusting spring-level according to your abilities, and even cleaning the machines and props for you. They take great care of their clients! read more

I LOVE District Pilates. This is the best studio in DC for reformer Pilates. Every instructor I have been to is fabulous and always so welcoming and friendly. It's easy to book classes on the mind body app and the owner, Bailey, is very responsive via email with questions. Definitely go ASAP! read more

Love this little Pilates gem in Shaw. Started out using ClassPass but liked it so much I bought a 25 sesh package. Charming, clean and comfortable studio with great instructors. Parking is usually a breeze. read more

Love love love District Pilates! Every time I leave my abs burn and thighs shake. Bailey the owner is AMAZING, she's extremely knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming, and kicks my butt on the reformer / chair! Katherine is also a fantastic teacher, I swear my inner thighs were sore for two days after a class with her! The instructors use a variety of props while on the reformer, the tower, and combine the chair at the end of workout. It's really awesome to use all three apparatuses for a kick ass workout! The studio is colorful, with cool artwork on the walls and they sell a variety of District Pilates Tshirts and tank tops that are well priced and super cute! They are opening another location in the Pentworth area and I can't wait to try it out. Thanks so much Bailey and everyone at District Pilates, can't wait to come back in again soon! read more

I've been going to District Pilates since it opened and I HIGHLY recommend it. You will always be challenged, given new exercises, and have fun. Whether you live in DC or are just in town for work/pleasure definitely check out a class here. All of the instructors are super knowledgeable. The studio has new equipment, beyond just the refiners, and plenty of props to keep each workout challenging and different. I recommend taking a class with Bailey, Rishon, or Valentina, they are my favorites! read more

I had never done reformer pilates before, but District pilates has been a great intro to the practice. The instructors are patient and great teachers, and the small class size really allows individualized and professional attention. It's hard but not so hard that I couldn't do it. The studio makes me feel encouraged and motivated, and I always leave feeling happy (and sore!) read more

Love this studio! the instructors are all attentive, welcoming and challenging. you really can't go wrong taking a class with any one of them. its small with only six reformers making each class pretty individualized and you can tell the studio is run with much love. as other reviewers have said Bailey, the owner, is great! please stay on classpass, District Pilates. read more

I found Bailey about a year ago and am SO glad I did because she is AWESOME and my favorite DC pilates teacher. I'm so excited for her that she's doing her own thing now. Her classes are just a ton of fun and the time always flies by. The classes are fast paced with lots of variety which I really appreciate and she really pushes you but in a good way. We generally use both the reformer and the chair constantly switching back and forth as well as other props so it's never boring. She is also upbeat and positive making sure to adjust springs etc for each person's individual needs. read more

Love this studio! It's in a great location, and the space is clean and welcoming with great natural light. It was my first reformer class and the instructor made sure to explain all of the moves to me and modify when I needed to. Highly recommended! read more

I have to say, I am suspicious of all these glowing reviews. I've taken two classes here and was impressed neither time. The two instructors I had were not very organized and both women seemed clueless as to how to offer modifications for a medical issue I was dealing with. I wound up both time having to sit out significant parts of the class. I found it amateurish, with a weird sorority vibe. There are much better Pilates studios in DC. read more

Awesome Pilates studio right in Shaw. Great location, great instructors, great facility, etc. Bailey is so awesome and helpful. I got back into Pilates after 2 years and it felt like I never left. Everyone is really welcoming and the classes are perfect for anyone from Beginner to Advanced level. read more

One of the best pilates classes in DC -- I wish the classes were easier to get into! The instructors here are all amazing and the class size is very small, which makes it a great workout where the instructor can really focus on all of the students. Katherine and Valentina are two of my favorite instructors - their classes are always very challenging and super fun - with great music! read more

I recently got into reformer pilates and I came to District Pilates via classpass. The intermediate class here is now my favorite! Bailey is a fantastic and lively instructor. She makes the 7:30am class on Monday morning so much fun. She keeps checking on me to make sure that the routine and resistance are ok for my injury. I will definitely come here as much as Classpass let me! read more

Bailey is amazing. When people compliment me I quip "body by Bailey" - because it's true. She fits more moves into a 55 minute workout than anyone I've ever worked out with and keeps you laughing and having fun the whole time. If I only did this once a week I'd maintain my shape. Twice a week and my body feels so strong and flexible. She is a master at managing each person individually in a class. Once we had three people all rehabilitating different injuries and a first timer and she just managed us all with ease. She is super encouraging and your spirits will feel as lifted as your bum by the time you are done. Super excited she's now teaching and managing her own awesome studio. Get in here and love your new strong lean body! read more

District Pilates is the only reformer studio to consider. They offer a variety of classes catered towards beginners to advanced students. Bailey has been my instructor for four years and through two pregnancies. She gets me tone and fit fast! She is an exceptional teacher and gives you an incredible and fun workout, ensuring that every minute counts. She cares for her students and her practice. Look no further. read more

Damn this workout is ADDICTIVE! I have taken various reformer type workouts around DC but for some reason this studio feels attainable and inviting, moreso than others. I have taken a variety of instructors, all awesome and extremely challenging. PRO TIP: there are only several spots so be sure to book early and make sure the class is on your schedule, not on your wait list. Love this studio and workout - I feel myself progressing with every class. read more

I've been taking classes with Bailey & Greg for the last year and would follow each of them anywhere. They make reformer class so much fun. Every class is different and difficult! I'm constantly challenged, but also entertained. I've never laughed so much in a pilates class. They both use a variety of props and apparatus - magic ring, stability ball, hand weights, jump board & chair...a 55 minute class flies by! Bailey always remembers which client has a sore wrist or hip injury and also what level each person is working at, it's amazing to see her work a class, all the while instructing on some very advanced and intricate moves. Oh and Greg has some awesome playlists! Lots of Britney & Madonna, win! Plus it's always great to support a woman-owned business! read more

I love this studio! I've been doing reformer for years and I've never felt more welcome than at District Pilates. All the instructors are warm and attentive throughout the class. Whether you are a beginner or expert at pilates, there is a class for you! You'll get a good workout AND they even make it fun ;) It's also conveniently located a one block from the convention center metro! Highly recommend! read more
