Being a classical studio, Andrea and the studio teachers are trained to break down each exercise, cater to the students, and make sure you leave feeling stronger. Classes at VIDA feel different than other studios where everyone really wants to be there, dedicated to that hour--excited to be pushed by the teachers, but also enjoy feeling the long term benefits of why we do Pilates. I couldn't recommend this studio more to beginners--the classical structure shapes your whole experience to guide you to the next levels with confidence, where advanced students are consistently challenged in every class.

I did both beginner classes here and solidcore and found that while I got a little burn/soreness the day after, District Pilates felt more like a stretch Pilates class. Solidcore was harder and I really felt I was working my entire body - wish they had followed up after my 3 day promo was up Overall a good starting point and would recommend for starting out.

I was a longtime runner, Barry's Bootcamp, and Cross Fit enthusiast -- all of which destroyed by body and left me injured more than in shape. Lagree Pilates and Solidcore are a full body workout and exactly what I needed. There is zero impact on the joints and each movement is slow and in control. You also majorly get the heartbeat pounding and I find myself a sweaty mess like I did in those other fitness routines. Solidcore's approach isn't always my favorite (the trademark language and constant soundtrack of the instructors). If I had to pick, I prefer Lagree's approach more but hey, I'm just grateful to have this workout in DC.

Expiration policy on classes is VERY short - this means that if you get a VERY EXPENSIVE classpack but say get sick or have to travel, there's zero flexibility to get an extension. Pretty tone deaf given we just went through years of a pandemic. 2. There is NO HUMAN to be found to help with any questions on classes/memberships, you just email some general account and someone with no name sends you boiler plate marketing. 3. VERY EXPENSIVE It all just leaves a very unpleasant taste in your mouth and there are too many other fitness options where you are treated like a human and where you can get a great workout.

After 8 weeks of weekly sessions with Ryan I totally forgot about my frozen shoulder, felt great, lost body fat. So I decided to continue my pilates training, then TRX and a combination of both. I love SC so to me this wasn't necessarily a bad thing but do keep in mind this class pushes you to muscle failure rather than focus fully on Pilates form. I came for a 430 Ariana Grande class and didn't realize they don't really have a "waiting" area since they keep the doors to the room locked. They have one restroom available and then you just leave your shoes out in the open. The studio itself is gorgeous and has such great natural lighting. Check in was easy and my instructor was very helpful in explaining the machine and the class. The class itself was about 80% similar to SC with maybe a little traditional Pilates and some stretching. A hard and good workout but wasn't what I thought it would be but still enjoyed it. The class is around 40-45 minutes so you don't get as long of a class for the money. They didn't play any Ariana Grande which was a bummer since I looked forward to the theme. Overall clean and aesthetic studio but very similar to studios I'm already a member of and with slightly less amenity space, I am not sure which is a better bang for your buck.

There is a warmth in this community that is apparent from your first visit. My pants fit better, my core is tighter, and my overall concentration has improved in the short time I've been practicing here. Classes are divided into sections that incorporate cardio movements/calisthenics, strength/length training, and mental clarity/restoration. All the major muscle groups get some major attention: legs (LEGS!), arms, core, glutes. Flexibility and balance are also key focus areas at Barre3. I am used to spending classes counting down the minutes until it is over, but here I don't have time to think about it before we are stretching out and cooling down at the end. The instructors spend the entire class talking you through the movements and (more importantly, imo) proper form, walking around providing hands-on adjustments and encouraging you to push yourself to the next level. Every movement has additional layers and/or modifications to honor individual needs. Glowing recommendation!
