I took my first Pure Barre Classic class yesterday and it was pretty intense. I am someone who considers herself very fit and this class was no joke! I tried the Align class and wasn't able to do it. This review is for those with lots of past injuries. I'm older 66 with many previous broken bones and OA. The plate in my left wrist and the broken bones in my right hand made it impossible to put my body weight on my wrists. I broke my hip 2+ years ago and I have never fully recovered. I'm totally out of balance and lack strength on the right side. PT was a nightmare for me too. I went to 2 different PT places and both hurt me and I ended up back in a wheelchair. I am trying different exercise modalities to find something I can do. This isn't it. I realize I'm not the norm most people will be able to do Pure Barre. I need a much more gentle program that doesn't hurt. The music volume should be turned done. It takes away from what the instructor is saying. The instructors voice should be dominant not the music! read more

I hadn't worked out in over 15 years due to chronic back pain. My new doc sent me to physical therapy. The pain became manageable and I took the intro free class at Pure Barre. I did so poorly I realized I NEEDED to do barre. After 12 Barre classes I'm doing so much better. I started once a week but now I'm up to twice a week. I can't wait to move on to the next level. There's no judging if you don't do everything right. The point is to work and improve. Start little by little and move up when you feel ready. I LOVE Pure Barre! read more

If you want a workout that leaves you kind of wet from sweating and working hard, pure barre Is for you. Pure barre is definitely different from other barre classes in that it moves really fast and doesn't focus on stretching and form as much. That being said I just finished a month of classes at another studio and my form might just be that much better now. It is a much more cardio workout than other barre classes I've taken. You will leave with sweat dripping off your face. I've only taken two classes here but each of them I've left pretty disgusting and sweaty. I like that the options they offer are actually really challenging, and I don't find myself wondering how I can get more out of the exercise. One thing I don't like is the room that they teach in, it's small and kind of stuffy, with no fans so it gets almost like a hot yoga studio when you have 20 people working their butts off in there. Also I slammed my shins on the platform in the pure empower class..maybe a warning of where to place my feet on it could've prevented that. Classes are expensive but if you sign up for the mailing lists occasionally they'll offer a free or discounted class, especially when they're training a new teacher. I think the first class you take is free too. I also got a week free for going to an event they had last week that I learned about via the mailing list. read more

Wow! I really like this studio and they practice barre differently than those I have visited previously. I especially enjoyed the "Empower" class which is more cardio focused. All that's required is sticky socks and water. They provide weights, mats, platforms and ropes. The instructors are awesome, the only area for improvement would be in helping new people correct their forms. They do a great job of providing optional moves. I'm on a groupon but I will be a regular a this location. The variety and number of classes is barre none (I had to :)). read more

It took me quite a few years to get back into working out but Pure Barre was ideal for me. It has not only helped me lose weight but more importantly, get in better shape and tone up. I love that even though all the movements are really small and isolate the muscles, somehow I still get cardio and I come out of there dripping sweat but not doing things that are high impact on my body (which I can't since I have osteopenia and have had multiple back and foot surgeries over the years)! Believe me - it is addictive ...but a good addiction :-) The team at Pure Barre Central Phoenix are great and the location is ideal!! read more

Just finished my first class. Btw they offer a free introduction class. This is a workout. I was using muscles I didn't know I had. It was fun too. I think for me the instructor Erika was the best. Really I would take a class with her in a heartbeat. I have been to so many places where they assume you know the terms they use or how to do the movements and when you don't it's discouraging well this was not an issue at Pure Barre with Erika. She walked us through everything really taking time to make sure we were both comfortable, having fun and getting a great workout. Looking forward to another class! read more

If you've never tried barre workouts before I'd highly recommend giving them a try. I've taken over 300 barre classes and love the workout. Pure Barre itself is the best barre franchise I've found and has changed how I feel about working out. Prior to PB I was never able to consistently keep up a workout routine for any length of time but now I look forward to going. I've seen changes in my body because of barre, most noticeably more strength but also greater flexibility and weight loss. There's also a strong sense of community with Pure Barre and they're good at finding ways to motivate you. PB Central Phoenix is the fifth and newest location owned by sisters Marirose and Veronica. If you pay for a membership at any of the locations that they own you can take classes at all of their studios (Phoenix, Central Phoenix, Scottsdale, North Scottsdale & Chandler) which is a huge perk. I live halfway between their Central Phoenix and Phoenix locations so it creates a plethora of class times for me to choose from. Central Phoenix is their smallest studio and I'm not as big a fan of it as I am of their Phoenix location. The barre room itself has no windows and feels dark and closed in. I also hate the traffic jam that always happens by the front door. I am thankful that the bathroom is outside of the barre room so that you don't have to wait for the class ahead of you to get out (which isn't really a problem at this location anyway - but still nice). All that being said I love the staff of instructors that teach at these studios and you'll see the same mix of instructors here at Central. All of them are top notch and you'll get a good workout coming here. I prefer the Phoenix location but you'll still see me at this location on a regular basis! read more

The most rude studio I have ever been too. I walked in at 9:29. No greeting just what's your name. I told her my name and she replies "you are new, class has already started you can't go in" 1. I am not a new student, but if she even bothered to look me up she would have known that 2. Class starts at 9:30, and at 9:29 I am not allowed in? Keep treating people this way, I'm sure your business will be thriving. I live 3 minutes form this studio and would rather drive the the Scottsdale location then come here again. read more

Pure Barre has been my favorite workout for years, but I love this location in particular! The instructors and the front desk staff always greet you by name and it feels like a family. Pure Barre is a great workout that keeps your core working and you body toned. The instructors are helpful and motivating, plus I made friends with several of the other regular clients. The atmosphere and the challenges keep me coming back, and I've yet to find a workout I've stuck with longer or seen as much change in my body. read more

The best barre franchise around! I am fairly new to barre but have already seen so many changes in my body! Lean tapered legs, a lifted seat and rock-hard abs. I started barre without being able to do a basic roll-up and needed to push myself up with my arms. My core has improved so much that I can basically do any ab exercise they throw at me. Still not a breeze though - every class of Pure Barre is challenging. With two classes available, the classic Barre class and the cardio-based Empower class, Pure Bare covers all my bases when it comes to getting a well-rounded workout. It's an addicting workout! It's a great low impact, big results kind of workout. I started in the beginning of April and have taken over 70 classes and I'm starting to notice the difference - stronger, leaner muscles and my overall strength has improved. After hearing about Pure Barre for a while and finding a studio that was in the perfect location for me with work and where I live, I decided to give Pure Barre Central a try. My friend and I tried the $25 week unlimited in April of this year and I went as many times as I could fit I to my schedule in that week. I was really nervous to try Pure Barre because I am not athletic, a dancer, very coordinated, and am intimated in gym settings. Our first class, the instructor was super positive about our experience (even though I know we looked ridiculous). My friend wasn't able to continue but I was hooked and continued on my own, which says a lot for me. I cannot say enough about how much I LOVE my Pure Barre experience. Pure Barre is one hour where you can only focus on you and shut out the rest of the world because you have to focus on you and the moves in the class. The instructors and staff are friendly and motivating. There are always little challenges in the studio that are super fun! The instructors and staff really get to know you and know when they can push you a little harder in class and encourage you when they know you need it during a tough move. Recently Pure Barre added an Empower class which adds a cardio component to Pure Barre and it is an amazing compliment to traditional Pure Barre. If you are considering trying Pure Barre, just do it....it's the best investment I have done for me!!! read more
