Bitch melted my hair-lies and horrible service! I went in for a color from dark brown to blonde to my roots. I went in for a consultation to explain what I wanted, and even asked the stylist if she had done this before. She assured me she did it all the time and her confidence inspired my confidence. I went back into the salon another day for the procedure. She left the bleach in my hair too long. I even fell asleep in the chair to wake up to her crying and apologizing. She kept disappearing, coming back to say that I can come back for a fix, to which I said, that won't work for me, I would like it corrected before I leave. The uneven length dye job looked like a 5 year old did it. To 'fix' she died my roots black (not even the color of my hair). So, in the end, I got a craft project of white, blonde, red orange. The dim lighting in the salon made more sense to me after this shit job. I couldn't take it anymore and left. They offered half off and I refused so they covered it in full. A month has passed and even with soul food and olaplex I have lost patches of hair-to the point that 1/3 of my hair is missing. The manager told me to call back for a correction. When I called in the manager was mysteriously out for the future- but would call me back. It didn't happen. To add insult to injury, the receptionist laughed when I gave her my info, like it was a running joke in the salon. In the end my hair is the same as before I went in, but badly abused, awful colors and I still can't get it corrected because of the damage- how she left it. I have had my hair bleached before, never with bad results, and this was insanely terrible. I warn you to avoid this business at all cost if you prefer to have your hair attached to your head. read more

When I decided to stop using a clippers and grow my hair out I was referred to Fallon at Pump Salon. I've left everything up to her and she's been magnificent so far. I've been going there for almost a year and it's always a friendly, clean and energetic environment. Truth be told I'm cheap when it comes to haircuts, and their prices are way out of my normal "Great Clips" range. However it is true that you get what you pay for and I would have never been able to turn my style over to a professional that knew more than I at any bargain salon. I have been going to Pump for about a year and have seen Tanner each time. I'm always pleased with my haircut and we get along well. He's social, which is nice. Nothing more awkward than getting your haircut from someone in silence. Not the case with Tanner! Pump recently closed for 2 weeks to renovate and remodel. They claim to have spent 6 figures on the remodel. The most noticeable difference is the paint color. To be fair, I didn't think it was dated before, so it looks good either way. The only gripe I have with the salon is the lack of receptionists. There is always just one working in the evenings during peek hours. The receptionist checks you in, rings people out, answers the phones, books appointments, etc. I always see them working hard; too hard actually. They are usually so busy I can't check in for my appointment and have to wait in line to check out after my haircut. read more

I've been a customer with Pump Salon for maybe 3-4 years now, although I only tend to go when I plan to get my hair completely restyled. The staff is always friendly and it's such a treat to be a customer. I used to get my hair done by Erin, but she has since left and instead I had an appointment with Julia this weekend. She did a fantastic job re-vamping my hair. I got an undercut and trim, old color removal, new color, and she even highlighted and dip-dyed the ends for me. I am very pleased with the result. The appointment wound up lasting for 3.5 hours, but Julia was very patient, courteous, and professional. I will happily be going back for her services again. read more

I went to Pump Salon to have my hair done prior to having surgery. I had someone new since it was impossible to choose due to salons just opening. The stylist never asked me what I wanted done. He just looked at the notes from my prior visit and went back to stir up the color. I never had the chance to relay any information on what I had decided to have done. My hair was also cut. When he was done it was darker but looked okay, just not what I wanted. I went to another salon today and she was shocked to see how the back of my hair looked since I was asked for a cut. She held the mirror up so I could see and it was totally uneven with a fringe across the bottom which never should have been there. Not only that, there was no color on the back of my hair midway down. It had been covered up and color never applied. This visit cost me $200 and I will never return. I wanted more blond and my hair had a lot of long dark roots within three weeks. Terrible experience. read more

I just moved her from Los Angeles where I had the same stylist for 15yrs. I was very nervous to try someone new since I get blond highlights and it's really easy to make them streaky or just not the right color, or even cause damage. I was use to the wella products so by using the wella locator I found this place. They set me up with Tiffany, and I couldn't be happier. She is awesome as a stylist and a person. While I have always loved my stylist and her work- I am so turned off by the lack of customer service with their receptionists. Whether it is calling in to make an appointment or paying after my appointment I always feel like I'm interrupting them. I feel like with the amount of money I spend on one visit that everyone should be warm and inviting- maybe that's the marketer in me- but a customer should never have a bad feeling while in your establishment. Like I said, my stylist is always friendly, she's super cute, very talented.. But every interaction I've had with the receptionists has been negative. And for that, I cancelled my appointment- called back another day in hopes of having a more positive experience, and ended up not making an appointment. read more

She always explains the products she's using, but doesn't push them on me, which I really appreciate. I was disappointed with my cut both times I went. I had the same stylist both times, and I tend to put my trust in the stylist. I admit that I have a lot of hair, and while it is long that is not what I mean. My hair is so thick that if I woke up missing half I wouldn't notice. I stressed to the stylist to take a lot out, thin it out, do lots of layers. It took me years to find the right stylist previously, and then I moved. I moved to Cincinnati 2 and a half years ago and still haven't found the right stylist. So, after all of my stressing she didn't take enough out. As a result I was back within a month, although I probably should have come back the next day and insisted it was touched up. I asked her to both take a lot out and that I wanted to go much shorter, around shoulder length, maybe a little shorter even. After my cut not only did she not take nearly enough out, but my hair was about 4 inches longer than I instructed. Rather than complain and end up with another cut I didn't like I decided to just not come back. I have tried another salon but haven't found the right stylist yet. read more

I am a haircut slacker. I tend to get a haircut about 2-3 times a year, so when I finally break down and get it done, I don't mind spending a bit for a nice styling and coloring. I always thought no good would come from my french fry habit, so as I pulled into the lot at Rookwood near Five Guys, I didn't expect there would be a salon nearby, and a really good one at that. I walked in late-ish on a Sunday, hoping that the "walk-ins welcome" sign was actually a good sign, but they weren't able to accomodate me as a walk-in that day. Luckily, there were available appointments on the next business day, which was the Tuesday after Memorial Day. I didn't have a stylist in mind, and I am really not too picky about who I get. I really feel like I lucked out when I got Melissa, though, because she did a great job on my cut- even with my typical vagueness and uncertainty, she managed to give me exactly the cut I described. And she tolerated my insistance about changing the small-talk to much geekier topics like the latest episode of Doctor Who. It made me think about the customer annoyance with stylist small-talk- I had never really considered the stylist annoyance with customer weird topics. (Note: not that she seemed annoyed, on the contrary, she was fun to talk to. I just think too much.) It would make a fun comedy sketch, like, "Oh, this one time, a customer would not shut up about her collection of Star Trek action figures. Apparently she displays them proudly from her basement bedroom at her parents' house. That must bring all the boys to the yard!" Anyway, back to the review, I would have liked a slightly lighter color than what she gave me, but I cannot truly complain on that, because it's a very subtle color-change and will blend nicely in with my natural color as my hair grows out. I tend to trust the stylist's advice on highlights because I figure they know better since it's their job, and the more time that goes by, the happier I am that I listened to the sylist. I enjoyed my experience so much that they might have found a return customer in me. And hopefully sooner than the 6 months between my last salon experience. read more
