I've been getting the lived in color from Melanie at Gloss salon and I wanted to post my review- I typically never post reviews but I felt this is necessary for a business owner!! This choice is 1. Amazing for grow out 2. Worth every dollar! This is an art form and she's got it down! Thankful for the blonde color she's created in my hair.... I was unhappy with my blonde journey when I met her and I put full trust in her (and she delivered!) after reading positive reviews myself I decided to go with her after my long time hair dresser left hair...... so I wanted to be sure to leave a positive review for the next girl looking for a new hair girle .....I am postpartum 7months and about 8 months out now from this picture and I had someone at work recently ask if I just got my hair highlighted also noting you must care for your blonde appropriately and she answered my questions on how to care appropriately for it! I've seen some reviews mention time but I'm thankful that it's not rushed - it's done with care and these things take time!! AND she fees proud of her work to take pictures and advertise on social media and makes me feel that I have Instagram worthy hair when I walk out I'm a mom of three under five, breastfeeding and carrying some baby weight and I couldn't appreciate having hair that makes me feel pretty - Thanks, Melanie ! read more

So after much thought and consideration- I finally worked up the courage to say something about this salon. I had a stylist I went to for years that I absolutely loved but unfortunately I moved out to the east side & needed a new stylist. I looked around for a couple of months - asking around in my local Facebook groups- on who would be the best for blondes. I had a lady suggest a stylist at gloss salon. & swore she was the best! So I reached out & it took her a couple months to reach back out ( due to my Facebook page being a new profile , my message went to her spam box. No one's fault). She responded & we talked briefly about the service I wanted & then she suggested a full baby light to achieve the level of lightness or blonde I wanted without frying my hair off. We scheduled an appointment - which unfortunately I missed due to dealing with my daughter's school .. no fault but my own. BUT I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I WAS COMING IN TO TALK ABOUT THE BABY LIGHT PROCESS - almost like a consultation- beings I didn't know this girl & wanted to make sure she could preform what I was wanting. Well I guess communication was confused & she thought I was booking for the service that day but I was not. Anyways. They tried to charge me 250$!!!!!! For missing the appointment. THANK GOD I LOCK MY DEBIT CARD! They tried three times to charge it. So I finally reached out to the girl & asked why I was being charged 250$ for what I thought was a consultation?? She replied she thought we were doing my service that day - which again I was wanting a consultation- so she could look at my hair & I could explain to her I just had a baby & was having a lot of Postpartum hair loss & my hair was thinning horribly. I just wanted her to know the background of what's going on so we could decide if we could achieve the level of blonde I wanted. Again - communication was messed up between both of us. We spoke & rescheduled the appointment. I apologized Profusely for missing the "consultation meeting" & everything was fine. I finally make it to my appointment and by first glance getting to her station it was extremely dirty. It wasn't a very welcoming place as soon as I walked in with my special-needs sister, I instantly felt that all eyes were on us. Which made us both uncomfortable. So we sit down she starts looking at my hair and then proceeds to tell me that we're going to go ahead and do the baby light and she thinks that she can get me pretty light.. I say OK and we get started after 2 1/2 almost 3 hours in the chair she starts to pull the foils and starts to brush my hair very aggressively with Bleach in my hair. Which now that I see after having it done, caused my hair, too thin so much more and I have a ton of breakage after explaining to her that my hair was thinning due to postpartum hair loss. Once she pulls the foils washes and toes my hair we go back to the chair. She styles it and I was just not happy. It just did not look good. I looked very washed out. So then she tones it again and the blonde looked a lot better so essentially I was happy but mostly I was ready to go because we had already been there for 3 1/2 hours. Before the service started, I asked her if she was going to cut it and we talked about what I wanted when she did cut it, but because it was the last appointment of the day and we had already been there for a long time so she didn't cut it. I was OK after the second time she toned it. It looked better once she styled it as well so I end up paying which was $250 plus I tipped her 40. Even though I wasn't the happiest with it. A couple days later, I noticed that there was a bunch of very harsh foil lines throughout my whole head. So I reached out to her and immediately she said well send me pictures almost as if she didn't believe me.. So I sent her pictures and she said OK I'll have you come in in a couple days which I did.. Once I get to the salon, she immediately pulls me back to the wash station where she does a root touch up on my hair and after I'm sitting there for a few minutes once she's done - I can hear her talking about me to another stylist where they go and mix up the color for people's hair.. And it wasn't just five seconds she was back there for a good five minutes talking about me at that point I felt very, very, very uncomfortable and my whole demeanor just switched. I'm not a confrontational person. I'm not gonna get up and just walk out but when a woman goes to a salon, they're supposed to feel comfortable and not feel like a bothersome.... Which she made me feel super uncomfortable after that. I got super uncomfortable & wanted to leave immediately. But I let her finish & STILL TIPPED HER 30$!! & spent 100$ on products for my hair because my hair was extremely dry & frizzy once she finished. Needless to say - I hated this place & will never ever recommend anyone here. This is not the place to go if you want friendly people & services.... read more

This is honestly a warning to any college student from UC/Xavier/or other colleges around the area if you want to get your hair done here! (specifically for blondes) I never usually write negative reviews, I really don't believe in them, but I was completely overcharged for hair that I didn't even want. My stylist sat me in a chair for almost 5 hours and I had to wash my hair twice because she had messed up the toning process. I had sent in photos of what I wanted, and one had a silvery tone to it that I didn't necessarily want, but I liked the haircut so that's why I put it in there. I guess she took some liberties, as my whole hair is now silver. It is literally almost blue. I think she knew she messed up because she FACED me AWAY from the mirror and then started curling (without me asking) my hair after almost 4 hours of me and my partner sitting there. I was in shock, and I honestly didn't know what to do. I had never had someone face me away from the finished product so I couldn't say anything about it in the moment. She also only showed me silvery tones before the whole process and I was confused. So I asked if it would still be blonde/white and she said "Yes." After I told her that it wasn't really what I wanted, she said she would give me her number, so that if I didn't like it, she would fix it for free. I thought that was extremely kind, so I thought maybe she just messed up because she was new. The receptionist had gone home, so we were alone in the store. After struggling to find her login information for about 15 minutes, she charged me $485.00. I was literally in shock, as I signed up for a root retouch that said it would be $220 on their website. I gave her a tip and it ended up costing me my rent for my college apartment. And on top of that, she signed for me because the system was being weird. I would have said something in the moment, but really I was just in shock that someone would charge that much money for something that they KNEW they messed up on. The next day, I reached out and texted her. I confronted her about the tone and how much she charged me. She then told me that she was going out of town that weekend, so she would have to fix it that day or tomorrow. I said great. At least I will have the hair I wanted. She then ghosted me for a couple of hours, so I decided to call the salon and see if I could talk to someone about this. After calling twice, the receptionist who was very kind to me (probably the only person I would recommend getting to know), let me know that the boss "doesn't speak to customers." I then found out that she had changed my root retouch to a full-color correction without my verbal consent and said "I didn't know the price off the top of my head" in a text to me as a defense to how much she charged me. My hair is now silver, blue, and blonde. It is honestly the worst it's ever looked and I was completely taken advantage of. And now the company (or the stylist) isn't speaking to me and they are not willing to fix my hair. LITERALLY DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

Unfortunately the stylists are very good, but very unreliable. We've had multiple appointments cancelled by the salon at the last minute. They charge customers a $25 cancellation fee, but they are the ones who cancel which is pretty ironic. We will not be back. read more

The salon is clean, the front desk is prompt, and the services are always perfection.
