It's taken me a long time to leave this review because I spent so long feeling guilty about what it would take to leave an honest review. I went here some time ago to have a wig cut. Nothing fancy, just needed the bangs thinned out and a tiny bit snipped that overhung on my ear. I had an appointment, went in, and as soon as the stylist picked up the scissors I wanted to bolt. The older lady there has hands that shake badly. Enough so that every time she got close to my ears or my eyes I held my breath and tried not to move. She was nice enough, asking questions and trying to be polite, but I was unable to relax in that short amount of time because I was terrified of being poked. The worst part was the time and price. It took her all of five, maybe seven minutes to thin the bangs and shape up the sides, and had the audacity to charge me $50. $50 for shaky hands and 5 minutes worth of work? I can't go back, and I can't recommend that you do, either. read more

Leona are some of the best hair stylists in Cincy. They are always professional and can make you look great! I don't trust anyone else with my hair- highly recommend them! The place is always clean and they are fun to chat with during the cut which makes it nice. read more

Lived in Clifton my whole life so I decided why not try to get a haircut locally, actually I was just desperate so I gave Personalities by Leona a 2nd try...BIG MISTAKE! The salon is super dirty! Dust all over, hair on the floor, lint and hair on the brushes, and the blue liquid vases which I'm sure is some sort of disinfectant were cloudy and full of hair. I have been here two times. My first visit was with Leona my hair was already washed, and straightened all she had to do was trim it. A trim means trimming all the layers not just the bottom one. The second visit was with Leona's DAUGHTER I requested a dry trim for my curly hair, then a blow out to leave with. She proceeds to wash my hair before cutting it, and then attempted a blow out which she was unsuccessful at doing. She tried to straighten a little bunch of hair with a dirty brush one time, and then gave up before asking me if I could go home to straighten it myself, and then come back to her for the cut...uh no thanks!! If you want to get a cheap hair cut go to Supercuts or Great Clips at least they clean their cutting supplies and you always see someone sweeping up. I kinda wonder if Leona's daughter wrote Andrew's post and if Leona wrote Rebecca's! Obviously I have to rate them but they don't even deserve one star. read more

3.5 stars (Yelp, incorporate half-stars!) Personalities by Leona is definitely not your typical salon. It is run by a mom and daughter combo. Every time I've gotten my hair cut here, I've requested Tabitha (the daughter), because she does a good job. I'm sure Leona does too, as I've recommended a few friends go here and they have had Leona do their hair with positive reviews. I lived in the Gaslight Area for awhile and walking to Personalities by Leona was convenient for me. The price is also right; much cheaper than most salons. Tabitha always gave me lots of little hair product samples to try, as well. I only have a few gripes with the place: my haircuts always seemed to take way too long. I like to get in an out of salons as quick as possible, but for some reason I was always in this salon for over an hour (just getting my hair trimmed, not styled or anything like that). The place is also pretty outdated, which makes it seem dirty. I don't think it's actually dirty. I must also note that I am not high maintenance about my hair nor am I picky about my hair, especially because it's long with simple layers. It's pretty hard to mess up, style-wise. I can't comment on the dyeing, tanning and waxing aspects of Leona's, because I've never utilized those services there. I'm not sure I would go to Leona's if I wanted to, say, transition from my long hair to a pixie cut. That's risky business in and of itself, so I'd probably go to a more renowned salon for something like that. read more

She is really aware of the hair type and encourages you to not straighten or blow dry too much, so she really cares about your hair and is not one of the salons that wants to mint money from you. I decided to give Personalities by Leona a try since I live about a block away. I ended up with her daughter, Tabatha. I went for a haircut, color and eyebrow wax. She was very nice and really outgoing. Which I prefer with I am getting my hair done. It seems to make the whole process quicker that way. I was very pleased with how my hair turned out and the price. The only reason I did not give a five star is due to how long it took. It was the longest I have ever been at a salon. I have been going to Leona for years and absolutely adore her! I still can't believe the service I receive for the price, and that service would be worth 3X what I pay! Sooo many people ask me where I get my hair done and many of them have gone to Personalities By Leona and asked her for my same haircut (I guess that means I have multiple personalities?) Anyway, if your looking for a down to earth, comfortable and unpretentious hair salon, you should definitely stop in for an appointment with Leona or her equally awesome daughter, Tabitha! Both my daughter and I got our hair cut there for the first time and we were both very happy not only with the cut, but with the experience. Leona is a hoot, but she is a very genuine person and our experience was less like going into an impersonal salon for the first time and more like visiting with an old friend. Now, lots of folks just want to get a good cut and go. You can certainly get that. But if you like to chat up your stylist and enjoy the whole experience while getting a great cut, then this is the place for you. The price is very reasonable, too. We are so happy we found Leona. Tabitha, her daughter, is her partner in the business and while she didn't cut our hair, I watched her with a client and would be just as happy with her. Try it, you'll like it! read more

I had the worst experience ever. I asked for a hair cut and after wetting my hair and cutting 1 inch off she asked me is this ok.. I said that did you take a look at my style before starting the cut and she said NOT REALLY!!!! The answer I got was tell me how to cut!!! Was I the hair dresser that I would guide her how to cut??!!! ???And they tell me trimming my hair in the style I wore it is hair styling!!!!!!And since she didn't get it right the first time ultimately cut off more than an inch, which was what I had asked for.!!!!!!!!It was the worst hair cut experience I have ever had!!! read more
