I visited here to get blonde highlights to help grow out my darker roots in a less harsh manner. I am newer to the Cincinnati area and I didn't have any personal recommendations to go off of, but this salon was nearby my house. I love the result of my hair! The hair stylists were all extremely friendly and engaged with me in conversation as I waited for my highlights to process. Sometimes when I get highlights I feel like it takes forever without any overly impressive results. Here, my stylist worked efficiently so I wasn't sitting in the chair for four hours, and it turned out great! I'm looking forward to see how my hair will look in a couple weeks after a bit of grow out. In terms of the atmosphere, it was very bright, earthy and peaceful. I've been coming here for a long long time and still love it - but recently I've found the end result is hit or miss on the stylist. My normal person (Diana) was out first having her baby recently and I love her - but I ended with a newly graduated stylist who took 1 hr and 45 min for a basic hair cut (on my bday) and also did all the things I said I didn't like and cut it too short. Never asked for a refund before but still waiting to hear back from my multiple emails. I'll be back when Diana returns but don't know that I would switch stylists again. read more

I'm not sure how this place has gotten the reviews it has. I went for a pedicure today and it was probably the worst experience I've had getting a pedicure. I had to hold my leg up on my own and the procedure of cleaning my nails was painful. The tech was rough and very unfriendly. I will not be back. Excellent experience! We went for pedicures and were taken care of like VIPs! The staff was so gracious and made us feel truly pampered. I love everything about Alba and their nail services. I have gone to Rebecca twice now and have gotten amazing service. The hours work great for my schedule and the online booking is a life saver! The site makes it easy to see when you can get in and/or who you can get in with. They have their techs listed, which makes allows you to see what kind of work they do should you choose to look up social media (Instagram). In the past, manicures tend to last only a day, but both manis I've gotten here have lasted a week or more! I wash dishes by hand am chip prone, but I've had great luck with Alba! These manicures (I choose the classic, runs about $25 plus tip) leave my hands feeling refreshed and moisturized! I definitely recommend Rebecca and Alba to all who are interested! I had never experienced a problem with Katie as my stylist in the past so I paid for service (with an assurance that they would make it right) and I was asked to return. I arrived at the corrective appointment (1st available 10 days later) to learn they did not book enough time to fully correct (would only do part and hairline around the face; and could not correct the dark patches throughout my scalp that were not colored to the root) I was told I would need to make an appointment for a third trip of corrective color. I expressed my frustration and disappointment to the manager (Sarah) who was to perform the corrective color as I was disappointed with their lack of courtesy for my time and their disregard of their responsibility to correct their error. I spent another 2 hours while she partially corrected my part and hairline on sides of face. I've been coming here ever since my friend recommended it to me 2 years ago and I am IN LOVE! I've gotten spray tans (you will never be orange because of their spray tan formula is free of harsh chemicals) , facials, nails, makeup, and hair done here. I've been going to Maddie for my hair for a while now and she does the most beautiful job EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! The dip power manicure is also amazing!! I had a few kinks the first time around with the nails being too thick, but the nail tech is wonderful and fixed them (and they look great!). They even offered me 10% off which was so kind. Overall, I have so much trust in this salon. Alba rocks. This is the *only* place I will go for my hair. I've seen several of the stylists here and have never been disappointed. They are amazing with explaining what to expect and what our "game plan" will be to reach my hair goals. My hair looks and feels healthier after each visit. Shout out in particular to Jessica, who has been styling my hair for years. I have had people pull me aside multiple times and compliment my hair and I attribute it 100% to her. She even takes the time to show me styling techniques that anyone can do at home and explains products that will really help me. When I moved to Cincinnati I knew I eventually had to switch to a hair salon here rather than driving the four hour trip back to Cleveland every few months. A friend had recommended that I try Alba, and I've been a returning customer ever since! Alba, hence the name, uses organic products - this is important to be because I get highlights which is damaging, so anywhere I can make up for that counts! Iv'e definitely noticed my hair feels significantly less damaged after coming here for nearly two years now. Katie does my cut and color and she's amazing! She does an amazing job at both and is such a great person to talk to. I would highly recommend going to Katie of you are a blonde because blonde highlights can be tough but she does a great job. My only complaint is that about 3 or 4 times now I have booked a full highlight and when I arrive they say that I booked a partial. It hasn't happened the past two times, but this is certainly a repeat occurrence. I'm not sure if they just try to squeeze me in so do what they can, but I was not happy. I had a wonderful experience here! I was in need of a new hairstyle, but also didn't want to risk contracting COVID to get it. When I saw the precautions that Alba is taking to keep their employees and customers safe, I knew I had to give them my business! I checked in over the phone when I parked by the salon and waited in my car until they called to say they were ready. The salon itself was beautifully decorated and everyone was wearing masks (YAY). Tam made me feel supported in my decision to go from long hair to a long bob. She looked at my inspiration pics and listened to what I wanted, which was to leave just enough to tie it back and/or put it in a half-up/half-down style. She was very complimentary and encouraging of this big change. It was a fun experience because she is so friendly and warm, and on top of that, I LOVE the end result! I recently enjoyed the microdermabrasion with the wonderful Benny! From the very start Benny was extremely professional, kind and made me feel so comfortable. The setting was extremely relaxing, and the microdermabrasion was soothing and effective. Benny really takes pride in his work - and it shows. His patience and thoroughness made it clear this was a worthy investment to take care of my skin (especially during these dry winter months). One of the things I appreciated most was Benny's honesty through it all. Discussing with me my skin regimen, and effective ways to take care of it. He recommended products that didn't break the bank (his favorite products are found at Kroger, HOW AWESOME). It was comforting knowing I wasn't being recommended crazy expensive products that are really just as effective as those found on Amazon or just at your local grocery store. He explained the importance of taking care of your skin, and was transparent about was he really does to support that mission by visiting for a facial when you see fit. I had a TERRIBLE haircut with Madison. She's a nice enough person, but she really screwed up my hair! I should have bolted for the door when she said, "I don't really cut much; I prefer to color." But alas she had already taken the scissors to hair. :( The cut was uneven and looked overtly heavier on one side. When I pointed it out to her, she had a blank look on her face and was hodge podge snipping away without seeing the asymmetry. So I told her it was fine bc I couldn't bear to watch more and more of hair on the floor while the cut continued to look horribly uneven. People commented on it the next day at work, which made me realize it wasn't just in my head. So I had to go to a new stylist to get it fixed. As a result, I lost so much of my hair length and had to pay for 2 haircuts. If Madison isn't comfortable with cutting her, then she shouldn't do disservice to unsuspecting clients. She should stick to coloring if that's her forte. read more

LOVE. I moved to Cincinnati and was looking for a good quality, friendly, transparent hair salon. Pretty easy, right? Not so much. Struggled to find a place I really liked for maybe a year until I stumbled upon Alba! It's located in a super accessible place (right on Wasson road, down from Hyde Park Plaza) and couldn't be more adorable/clean/welcoming. Not to mention they focus on using natural products. I always feel like I get great value here. I have had a cut by CJ and a cut/balayage twice from Madison and both are absolutely exceptional at what they do. And like I said, great value. The stylists are friendly and welcoming and it's a fun time there. They also have a ton of cool beauty and spa services I have yet to try but are probably amazing. They offer cool cocktails while you're there too and have an up to date instagram that is full of hair inspiration and most of the stylists have their own pages too! Check them out! read more

I really wish there was more honesty on yelp. This is not an organic salon!!! Their products are not even natural in the least. They have so many chemicals. We went here because of their false organic claims. The products that they used on my daughters hair made her get a horrible rash on her face and eyes. She smelled so bad from the strong persistent chemical scent in the products that we had to have her shower about six times over the course of days to get the scent off of her. She smelled like an old man named Larry. And she has extremely curly hair and despite our protest the stylist continued to try to straighten her hair which was quite painful for her. Very hot dryer and pulling her hair extremely hard. I'm so tired of people making false claims. This salon gives organic salons a bad name. I came to Alba by chance (thanks to Groupon). I purchased a signature facial with extractions. This total package would normally be ~$70. I am quite frugal, but jumped at the chance to snag the Groupon deal. I have been aaaall over Cincinnati for facials. I treat myself to one a year. But with my wedding coming up, I decided to search for a place that I could have regular facials at, up until the big day. I have never been dissatisfied with my facials at other salons/studios, but I never left feeling great about it either. That all changed with Alba + Benny, my esthetician. I arrived and was taken through the building and outside into another door. I have seen many reviews complaining about this aspect of Alba's set up. It did not bother me in the least. Benny described it best - that they are too awesome to be contained to one building. That makes total sense! :) The separate space for facials was inviting, relaxing and comfortable. The experience began with a foot bath (what?! I know - so nice), and talk about routine, lifestyle, allergies, etc. I have been under an insane amount of stress, which has triggered some pretty mean acne (now semi-controlled). Benny assured me that my facial would not adversely affect my allergy to Sulfates and could teach me some tricks to take home. I won't go into too much detail, but the facial was out of this world. It also included a shoulder/neck/head massage, which was a nice surprise. My face felt so clean and refreshed, but never felt dry, tingly or the normal sensation when my skin is unhappy with products. My experience was wonderful, enjoyable and relaxing. My skin feels refreshed and renewed. I look forward to scheduling another facial in the coming months. Thank you Alba Studio + Benny for a great experience! read more

I came here for an eyebrow wax and unlike some other reviews there was attentive staff at the desk. I was greeted by Benny the Waxman who led me through the hair salon, outside, into another door, up some stairs to a room. I can see where some ladies would find this very awkward. Especially when he tells you he's a straight man in cosmetology. oookay. I had to fill out a waiver and then answer a couple questions to make sure I didn't experience any ill after affects of the waxing. I appreciate disclosure and education, I get that he wants to make sure if I had a bad experience, it was because of me not his talent. I admitted no one else who has ever waxed my brows asked so many questions nor explained as much as he did. Once I got on the table, I would have preferred he stopped talking. I came here expecting an awesome hair cut and good service. Unfortunately I got neither. When I arrived the girl working the desk was getting her nails painting. Made me feel awkward and bad for maybe wrecking her nails. After a bit my hairdresser came and got me. She was very nice and I enjoyed talking with her but I wasn't happy at all with the cut. The last time I got my hair cut I had it stacked so with this cut I wanted to have it done in a way that would look good as I grew it out. She didn't put any layers in my hair because she said I already had so many from the stacking. I have very thick hair though so the result was very heavy looking and lifeless. Not only that but on my way home I actually discovered a chunk of hair that wasn't even cut. I spent a decent amount of money and she didn't even get all the hair?! Jeez! Alba is my beauty salon for keeps. I finally found a really nice place that makes me feel comfortable even though I only go for a simple cut. Prices vary based on skill level of each stylist. Megan is my stylist and she is amazing, highly recommended. Like I said, I usually just go for a cut so I can't speak to the other services, but I really highly recommend this place. The website looks a little intimidating but when you go there you will not feel that way, its a really relaxed atmosphere. Walk ins welcome! There is always someone available whenever I go. They also have the Cincy Style Bar in the same building in a back room that looks totally fun and cute. You can get hair, make up, tanning and nails done in there with a group for a wedding or event. They recently got their liquor license so now you can have drinks in the Style Bar with your group! read more

I had my hair colored today. When I got home I though there was gel or hair product on the back. However it was hair color that had not been rinsed out. This was missed by the assistant who washed it and also by Sarah who dried and styled it. I had to rinse and wash it out myself. I called over to discuss it with Sarah and she was too busy to talk to me. I was told by an assistant that they would not give a discount on my next visit because that was the set price. Who runs a business like this? They made the mistake and were unwilling to make it right. They should take care of their mistake. Poor service - You have been warned. read more

I first discovered this place through a networking event and was impressed with their friendliness and set-up. At the networking event I won a gift certificate and you got a discount off your booking at the event, so it was the perfect time to try it. I decided to book a facial. Now, it's been a long time since I had a facial and had been wanting to get one for a while. When I finally went to my appointment, I walked in and there was no one at the desk, a girl came out and I told her why I was there. She said my appointment was with her, but she didn't introduce herself. I sat down while she got things ready. I'm not sure how many people were in the next room doing hair, but two ladies that came in after me had to wait quite a while to even be acknowledged by anyone in the salon. In fact, they waited so long, I wouldn't have blamed them if they left. So, for the Signature Facial...it was more than just a facial, yet it was not even a facial. I was both pleased and disappointed. In my experience, a facial actually involves a lot of work with your actual face. The signature facial at Alba involves more massage, including feet and hands. It was totally not at all what I was expecting. There was very little facial stuff going on. I expect after a facial to have my skin feel super scrubbed and clean, as well as to feel relaxed. The only thing I did feel was relaxed, which isn't a bad thing...just not what I was expecting. If I were able to give a half star, I would rate them 2-1/2, just because of the lack of customer service at the front desk and the fact that the signature facial isn't, to me, what a facial is all about. read more

The flowers were a minor issue that was resolved within an hour and of no concern to the stylists, and it was literally just chick fil a without plates that was just a side comment made, so I'm not quite sure why you're trying to detract from your own faults and blame us for the chaos when the only resulting chaos in the day was a result of your salon's actions? At no point were the stylists left alone for 90 minutes, and no one was made aware they were leaving. There was absolutely no sympathy or kindness shown from the salon from the faults made, and my mother received a call from you asking her to retract the COMPLETELY TRUE reviews left. So sorry to ruin *your* day after you screwed up my wedding hair - extremely self-centered. Had the situation been turned around by apologizing immediately and someone coming back to fix my hair, I would have been pleased with the outcome, but all I've received from your salon is detraction and defensiveness. The text I received wasn't even from Chelsie on the day of - it was a completely random number sent AFTER you all had left. My mother has discussed in length with you our issues, and you still choose to find fault in us for your error, despite having 12 witnesses. Strongly encourage others to not patronize this business. BRIDES BEWARE!! I booked Alba for my wedding day hair for my 7 bridesmaids, mother and I, and it was the worst experience ever. After getting the structure of my hair finished and the initial curls done, it was pretty explicitly agreed that I would be coming back for help getting my veil in, touch-ups, and help showing someone how to put my hair clip in. After I left the room to go get my makeup done in another room, and then to go get pictures so that my photographer could keep us on schedule, I headed back to get touch-ups on makeup and hair, only to see I had a TEXT from the salon stating that the hair stylists had left because they said they had received approval from my mom (which NEVER happened), and my bridesmaids said they liked their hair. Regardless of the fact that my mom never said that, WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE WITHOUT ASKING THE BRIDE?! To summarize their text, I was basically told that they had left for those reasons, and they would not be returning for any touch ups because other appointments were happening, and no other stylists were available to make the 15 minute drive to correct their error. To make this even better, both my and my mom's curls had fallen out at this point (only about 1.5 hours later for me). The bridal assistant to my wedding coordinator had to call the salon, and was left on hold, then told she would get a call back. In the end, she was put on a surprise 3 way call discussing the varying points of view from the stylists and, you know, all 11 witnesses (including my makeup artist). I am/was by no means a bridezilla... but why would you ever leave without approval from the bride?! Also, texting to let me know you left on the busiest day of my life instead of calling is completely unacceptable - pick up the phone and call! In the end, I had to fix and touch up my own hair, and then have my cosmetologist cousin come early to my ceremony to fix the frizzy mess that had resulted from my hair not being fully finished. We received a little under $300 for our refund (after paying $800+ for the entire bridal party). I am happy we received a refund, but that in NO way will ever make from the incredible stress that was put upon me on what is supposed to be the happiest day of my life when the details were discussed days prior. read more

I asked for a brighter highlight, not really knowing what I was getting myself into, but she assured me that it would look great. She was fun and easy to talk to, and didn't make my time there feel awkward and uncomfortable like most salons do. She was right about the color, too - I've gotten tons of compliments! I decided to go to Alba to get a facial after a friend recommended it. My aesthetician was Benny, I honestly can't say enough great things about him. I received the signature facial, which was an hour long and affordable. I have had many facials in the past and been to various upscale spas around the country. I can say hands down it was the best facial I've ever had. He made me feel very comfortable, he took his time, was gentle and he was very thorough.
