Kabie did such an excellent job cutting and styling my daughter's super thick hair. We've struggled for years finding a stylist who could cut her hair and Kabie was phenomenal. She created such an enjoyable experience for both myself and my daughter. The salon is super cute as well with a well stocked coffee bar for caffeine fiends like myself. Highly recommend! read more

I'm very happy with the service and Kabie did an amazing job! It was very professional and timely!

I'll be the first to admit I am not a salon kind of girl. I always feel a bit out of sorts in places like these. A friend recommended this salon to me, as they did her color, cut, and style for her wedding in October, and she looked fabulous. I decided since it had been 8 months since I had gotten my hair cut (other than stupidly hacking away at my own bangs here and there), I might as well go all out. I was very impressed with their services. I had printed a coupon off their website for $20 off a color and cut (this is for newbs, and note they also have a coupon for $10 off just a cut). I decided to go for a darker color for the winter, and a little bit red for fun. The cut was perfect (and I had my eyebrows waxed while I was there, very painlessly and swiftly done- no more unibrow FTW!). I have gotten more compliments on this haircut/color from friends and family than I have ever received. One warning: this is not a cheap salon, but with the coupon, I still got out under $100 which from what I understand is pretty decent for the level of service I feel I received. And actually, on second thought, without the coupon, it still would have been under $100. They offer a warm, friendly atmosphere, and though I still felt out of place, it was more tolerable for me than usual. Bonus: handing people beverages pretty much as they walk in the door. It was an unexpected, yet welcome, addition to what I felt was a great level of service. Just thought of a second warning: they offer appointment scheduling through their website, but when I used it, they apparently never got it and I had to call and schedule an appointment. So I'd recommend skipping the online form and simply calling them. read more

I absolutely love this salon! Darra is the best! I've referred 5 others since coming to her last year! So glad I found her on Instagram. Such a sweetheart and she has so much passion in the work she does!! read more

I've been looking for a new stylist and the stars aligned when I called early Saturday, willing to see whomever had an opening and Bekah had a cancellation. I really lucked out because she was excellent. Took time to really listen and the results are among the best I've had. I got compliments from every friend I saw. I'd decided to get bangs and she was able to get them just right. This is now "my salon"! read more

I have never been treated so poorly by a hair salon staff in my entire life. I was told to arrive sooner to my 5:00 p.m. appointment due to the time my hair treatment required (I arrived at 4:45 p.m. as instructed). I was not brought back until 5:10 p.m. even after being told to come in sooner. The stylist Darra said, "I don't know why they told you to come in sooner, that's not how I schedule my clients". It seems like there is a lack of communication here and my time was not valued. After 1 hour of processing, I asked Darra questions about how long the processing normally takes and I was literally dismissed with annoyed/bothered comments in return, "When I'm done here I'll rinse hour hair". I do not understand why I was treated with such negativity, especially in front of at least 6 other clients. Ironically, Darra did not even rinse out my hair because she was busy with someone else when my processing was well over due. I felt so uncomfortable with how I was treated. This was easily the least "pampered" I've ever felt at a salon. The main concern, however, is for the manager Tonya. I explained to her my issues about the service I was given and instead of having any compassion or understanding I was told "We are a very laid back bunch and sometimes when people come in who worry, that doesn't go well". I said, "Are you blaming me for how Darra treated me?", and she said "Yes". I can't imagine treating anyone who might be worried about their hair color processing time with rudeness, let alone supporting an employee who did it. Being that I'm a licensed health care provider in the area, I will be passing this information on to anyone who asks me about where I got my hair done. I do hope they learn to accommodate everyone, including people who might "worry" about getting their hair color just right. read more

Went here on a groupon for haircolor and cut. The stylist really did not seem to be paying attention--she offered me water then forgot to bring it for a half hour and forgot to charge me for color and had to call me at home to remedy . Cut and color were OK, but not wonderful. Color came out a bit dark--which she said would fade. It probably will. Salon is one of those friendly , neighborhood types--a little unprofessional but nice people. I probably will not go back as I am looking for more than OK. read more

Last week I put in an on-line order for some John Sahag product that I could not find elsewhere. I received the order within a few days. I also felt this salon offered a good price for the product. read more

I have been going to this salon since I moved to Cincinnati but was recently very disappointed. I had an appointment but got stuck in traffic, so I called Benzie to let them know and to see if I needed to reschedule. The receptionist said I was fine and should go ahead and come in. It was no problem As I was pulling up 10 mins later they called to tell me that they couldn't fit my color appointment in. First of all, I only had a haircut scheduled, not color, and have never gone to this salon for color. Also, the fact that the schedule was this tight should have been suggested to me when I courteously called about being late. I understand that traffic is out of both my control and theirs and I was the one that was late. Nevertheless, I called and was given the impression that it was fine. Also, I have referred several clients to the salon, so I thought they should have been more accommodating. In appointments in the past I have arrived on time and have waited for at least 15 mins to even be seated. As a result, my 15 min late arrival this time should have worked perfectly with their inability to schedule! I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Benzie Salon is a sweet establishment with friendly service. I have been going to this salon for about 2 years now. I have been to a couple of salons and neither were relaxing, one even had some awful loud techno music. Perhaps, she was going for another target market but I prefer my experience to be a serene one. I, especially, like Tara and request her each time. My hair has never been more beautifully styled. She really is a gem and now my family (two daughters) go to her as well. I have multi-ethnic hair that does what it wants until Tara cuts and styles it. She is very patient with me and I appreciate it. My schedule is hectic and she tries to accommodate between my crazy work hours and my travel schedule. The only thing I would do different is the actual location. It could be bigger and is sort of hidden. read more

I have been here 3 times so far. My daughter twice and myself once. I initially scheduled my daughter an appointment because I bought a nice deal through Groupon. The receptionist is super friendly, bubbly, cute. Offered us drinks which was nice. First time my daughter saw Katie. She did a great job talking to her and figuring out what she wanted and giving her recommendations on her color. Her highlights and cut turned out great. I scheduled myself an appointment with the $10 off haircut coupon. I saw Ashley. She was very friendly. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. The cut really wasn't the same and I had to ask her to trim up and texture my bangs a couple times. But she did say she offered free bang trims and gave me a card for $20 for new clients. The owner of the salon was in when I was checking out and he introduced himself and asked if I was happy with everything. Third time, brought daughter back for cut - she was scheduled with Nicole. We arrived about 10 minutes early. Nicole went over the appt. time by about 20 minutes. When she did come out, she didn't introduce herself, apologize for the delay, nothing. 15 minutes and $40 later, my daughter had just a basic trim. The salon is nice and people are friendly. Hit or miss. read more
