I went there the following day, and there weren't as many people in the building. Once again, the smoothie took 15-20 minutes. After two more minutes had passed, the cashier went to the register and was on her phone. I POLITELY inquired about my drink and immediately caught an attitude from her. She went to the blender with my drink already made- just sitting there for the past five minutes- and I quote, "See, your drink is right here." She gave everyone (3 other people and a guy who walked in later, their drinks). She was very disrespectful to me for no particular reason. Very nasty. What made me feel a little more upset about this is that the other people who received their drinks were of lighter/pale skin tone- I am not.

I placed an order online for the Nourish bowl, added kale to make it even greener and veggie filled, and eagerly waited to devour my bowl. Andddd devour I did. The Nourish Bowl was sooo good. Fille with brown rice, fermented beets, beet hummus, avocado, clover sprouts, shredded carrots, hemp seeds, and a cashew ginger dressing that came on the side. It was perfect, and very filling. As a fan of all things pickled, I especially loved the fermented beets and now will be hunting those down again and again. It was the perfect meal for after the holidays, and I do plan to make a stop at Nourish more routine when I am back in the area.

There are at least 2 other boba places from recognizable national chains a couple blocks away, but this one is locally owned. I stopped by about a half hour before closing on a weeknight. There were a couple customers already seated in the dimly-lit space. It looked like a college hangout, with a few tables and ample space to mill around and wait while being serenaded by Taylor Swift (the soundtrack of the night). I don't tolerate caffeine too well after a certain hour, so I was happy to see that they offered a decaf tea option in the form chamomile -- an unusual option at a boba shop. I got a hot chamomile tea with bubbles and half sugar. The bubbles were rather soft, even for a hot tea drink, and sweeter than I would've preferred, but it still hit the spot on a rainy fall night. If there were a next time, I would get 30% or no sugar added to offset the bubbles and the natural sweetness of the tea. The employees seemed nice, but I didn't interact with them much. The human-run register only accepted cash, so I ordered at the kiosk to use my card.

Heading home from a weekend in the Berkshires, we were think about lunch when I remembered this…read morespot which I had read about & made a point to keep it in mind for when I found myself in the area. My husband, who's grandmother immigrated from Poland, grew on this fare & he rarely gets to eat it now. So, he was thrilled! We easily found parking very close and, as it was a bit early in the lunch hour, found the place mostly empty. It was a cute, clean little cafe with several small tables to eat in. While we were there, the Monday lunch crowd quickly followed with dining & take-out orders. We ordered at the counter ( oddly, still protected by a huge plexiglass barrier ). The young lady was very helpful & knowledgeable with our menu questions. We ordered, paid and found ourselves a seat. When presented with the credit card payment, I noticed the gratuity pre-sets were at full-service levels & tipped as such. However, when we later realized that we picked up our own food & bussed our our table, we decided that we should have tipped for counter service. The food was spot on! Since i eat mostly vegetarian, I always find this type of cuisine challenging. But, a large list of house-made pierogis gave many options. I settled on a plate of six potato & cheddar with onion & sour cream. Since the kapusta here had no meat, I tried a side of that as well. The pierogis were perfect! Tender dough, flavorful filling - fantastic. The kapusta, a house made cabbage based kraut, was delicious as well & very filling! Half came home with me for another delicious meal. My husband, on the other hand, went all out with the PP - Polish Plate. He was thrilled to be able to mix & match the four pierogi, ordering three savory & one blueberry ( something his grandmother made which he's raved about for ever ). Like me, he found the pierogi perfect. He also enjoyed the kielbasa - very flavorful. The golabek ( what he calls golumpki ) had more rice than he prefers, but he wrote that off as personal choice and said it was very tasty & juicy. All in all, this was a good lunch stop & we'd return when in the area. Next time we'll be coming home with some of those delicious pierogi!

In fact, the space doesn't look much different at all from the way it was laid out under Fosters. Rush Bowls sells two categories of food -$8 Smoothies and $10 Rush Bowls in dozens of variations and permutations. Let's start with their Smoothies. There are seventeen smoothies broken down into four basic categories of Acai, Signature, Rejuvenate, and Juice (Apple or OJ). They have different combinations of fruit (mango, blueberry, peach, banana, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, dragon fruit, coconut, liquids (milks, juices),and an assortment of extras (granola, honey, kale, spinach, granola, acai, peanut butter, whey, frozen yogurt, chocolate sauce, avocado, espresso, and even lemonade). Their twenty juice based Bowls are similar, and you eat them with a spoon instead of a straw. My wife ordered the PB Crunch Smoothie with Banana, Peanut Butter, Granola, Milk and Froyo. I had a sip and loved its distinctive peanut flavor. I went with a Dragon Bowl of Dragon fruit, Banana, Strawberry, Blueberry, Coconut Milk, Apple Juice, chocolate sauce, and three toppers - Granola, Honey and Almonds. I liked it a lot, it had great flavor and plenty of crunch from the granola and almonds. We chatted with the two young ladies who were preparing our order and learned the store had only been open for a few weeks. Apparently, they are busiest lunch time when the locals come in for a quick to go order. My Bowl was pretty filling, so I definitely saw how it is becoming popular as a lunch option.

The café itself felt like an eclectic homey high-vibe retreat, with crystals, plants, and sunlight streaming through the windows, creating dappled patterns on the wooden tables. The best tables are window-side where you can watch the little river and the waterfall. The menu, presented on recycled paper with hand-drawn sketches of the surrounding hills and rivers, revealed a symphony of flavours. I began my culinary journey with a sip of the "Green Goddess," a kaleidoscope of freshly pressed green veggie fruit juice that tasted as crisp as a morning hike in the Vermont woods. For my main course, I couldn't resist the "Kale + Artichoke Dip," a whimsical concoction of Kale + Artichoke Dip covered with brazil nut parm, baked, & served with house-made raw flax crackers & veggies that seemed to capture the essence of the lush local farms. It was a dish so light and refreshing it could rival a dip in the nearby swimming holes. But the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the "Golden Goddess." It is a frozen/cold smoothie made with Vermont goodness and love in a blended up dream of Mango, turmeric, black pepper, ginger, vanilla, dates, ice, mylk.
