If you attend Dragon Con, you know this bar. There isn't much to it. It's a bar in the atrium of the Marriott. What makes it great is it is the meeting place for everyone during Dragon Con. They remove all the seating during Dragon Con which sucks, but it is crazy busy. So as the saying goes, location, location, location.

The architecture of the hotel that you get to see from Pulse is very cool and different. From the outside, it looks like a big bloated 70's thing. From the inside, iIt's like being in the belly of a whale. Only the whale serves cocktails and plays music and has great people watching. This is great for a small casual group. Maybe meeting some internet acquaintance that is in town on business. But don't go here on a first date, and not with a very large group, as someone is going to be stuck on the ottomans after you rearrange the seating and they'll feel it later. (Hi Randy!) Don't worry, it's comfy if you score a normal chair. The atrium is just stunning to look at, though, and that's why you should check it out. The sail gives the place some color that changes a couple times a day (though I'm the minority in wishing they'd get rid of the big screen tv). And the music is very chill out and energizing at the same time, which I like, and needs to be imitated more. The best part, though, is the mini trio of martinis. Apple, mango, and pomegranate if memory serves, and memory may not serve because I had two trios of them. And though they call them mini martinis, they're probably 4 oz each, when I was expecting 2. (Most bars serve 6-9 oz martinis, I think.) They're served on this cute little metal tree thing. (Ok, after that many girly martinis, just about anything is cute.) Prices are hotel bar prices, not college bar prices. The service can be a little slow, but it's a hotel bar, and they're used to people who are killing time and have nowhere to go. I don't recommend coming here if you've got time-sensitive plans for later, though that's not likely, given that downtown ATL is kinda dead by the time you'll be ready to leave.

The evening began with one of the best mojitos that I have had in a while. As an opener for the evening, bartender "Z" didn't disappoint! Kudos sir! But the real star of the show was Lashawn! She was welcoming and cordial from the start. Once I was settled in one of the lounge chairs, two other hostesses checked in on me but something told me to wait for the first person to greet me. And I was right to do so. Lashawn recommended the burger and it was wonderfully delicious. With a little chipotle aioli and a side of sweet potato fries, she had recommended a winner! But now back to the service...just EXCELLENT! I have high expectations for customer service based on my own retail employment experiences and in this case my expectations were exceeded! Well done Lashawn!

I've never been to the actual bar but I've sat in the couches in the rest of it and watched football. It's a pretty cool place with plenty of TVs. The place is actually in the lobby of the Atlanta Marriott. From the bar and restaurant you can see all of the hotel.

Great place! They make Caipirinha; my favorite drink which most places do not even know about this cocktail.

Take the pool elevator to the 6th floor from the lobby and you're in the party. The setup was a mix of sofas, long high top tables and seats at the bar. There could be reserved seating but mostly looked like first come, first served. We eventually got seats from gentlemen who were willing to get up. But it's a dance party so you won't be seated long. The rooftop bar was extremely busy so we got drinks in the lobby. The service on the rooftop and lobby bar was over extended. They needed more staff to support the crowd. Eventually we ordered food as it seemed more staff came in to help. We shared chicken wings and the flat bread pizza. The wings were a good size and come with potatoes. More like breakfast potatoes, not fries. They were rather salty and not very good. The flat bread pizza was tasty. Their menu included other starters, sandwiches, salads and desserts. We had cocktails - old fashioned, vodka and cranberry, and a Moscow mule. Good size and tasty. Overall, the band - The DJ Wright Band and DJ Eclazz were why we came! Definitely check this spot out.

The hotel was decorated with flowers and even a nod to the FIFA World Cup. We were greeted by the hostess and sat in the waiting area until 4 out of the 5 of the party arrived. Our server had set up our table adorned with lovely pink tea cups, tinted water glasses, a decorative plate, and folded napkins. Our server was so professional and let us know about the Girl Dinner on Thursdays too. We enjoyed our sandwiches, little desserts, and scones. Everyone raved about the flavor of the deviled eggs with truffle oil and the sweet crunchy scones. We look forward to returning in the fall for another afternoon tea experience.

We sat down and were provided water and I asked for a purse holder and the waitress was able to locate one for me. We received our menus and if you're in to a French style menu, this is the place for you. I had the avocado tartine (toast), and others in my party had the eggs Benedict, the crepe; and pancakes. Two of us also ordered a mimosa. Because it was my aunts birthdays, they were given a small treat. It's quiet and very cute ambiance and lighting. They have tea time from 1-4pm which I will definitely be back for. ***I gave this place a 4 only because the menu was sort of limited from what I had known to be a buffet style brunch and I think, to me, I needed a little more seasoning.***

Virtue Rooftop is a whole mood on a Tuesday. I touched down for the "Jazz on the Rooftop" session,…read moreand the live saxophonist was definitely the highlight--sliding through covers and originals with the kind of ease that makes a date night feel effortless. The spot is huge with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so you aren't cramped while trying to catch a vibe. The 1000 Masks cocktail was smooth and balanced, avoiding the sugar-trap I expected from the blueberry syrup. We started with the Yuca Parmesan Truffle Fries--solid crunch and the truffle wasn't aggressive--and the Togarashi Tempura Veggies, which were light and crispy. I went with the 5Church Lamb Burger Sliders for the main; the gorgonzola fondue and red onion marmalade combo was a heavy hitter, though the lemon-dressed arugula kept it grounded. The food was a solid, reliable choice--nothing that'll change your life, but definitely tasty enough to keep you satisfied while the music does its thing. If you want a laid-back, intentional atmosphere without the extra noise, this is the move.

Beautiful views, but the service and the food left much to be desired…read more I ordered chicken skewers, 2 mocktails, artichoke dip, and yucca fries. The chicken skewers took forever to come out. You only get two of them, and they are served over a bed of mixed greens. They lacked seasoning and flavor. The artichoke dip was extremely oily and had a very strange texture--it was thick and spreadable. The pita bread tasted old and stale. asked for a fork and the waitress forgot. When she brought my fries, she realized that she never brought the fork, and still didn't bring it. I ordered yucca fries, but she brought regular fries. The mocktails were served in these foggy old cups. Even the customer next to me commented on her own cup and said it looked like someone had drank from it. They add 20% gratuity to ALL bills--I was by myself and it was still added. 5 Church is pretty good, but this place was not at all. I paid 65 dollars for my meal, which was absolutely not worth it, given the quality and service of my experience. Looks good for IG but I won't be coming back to this rooftop.
