What left me completely frustrated was their inability to communicate in what seems like the minimum for retail phone repair. I took my Pixel 9 to UBreakIfix as it's Google's repair partner. The tech who worked the desk checked TWICE with someone in the back to verify the warranty coverage on my phone's screen, assured me it was covered, produced an estimate receipt with the number $0 as my price and sent me away. Two hours later I get a voicemail with a mumbly messsage about how it wasn't covered by warranty and something.. something on Google's end, and the call ended abruptly. When I called back and I asked if there was anything due, they told me I was on the hook for the $240 replacement cost. I was told they checked with Google AFTER they had completed the repair and was denied warranty coverage. The option offered to me was that they could undo the repair and "I could try my luck with Google's mail-in repair warranty service..." Seems like someone monkeying inside my phone multiple times would definitely affect my chances of getting it covered, so no. Plus the loss of my phone for however long it took Google to mail it back. So I paid my bill and left. I don't know why they denied coverage and UBreakIFix wouldn't tell me, so I guess it doesn't matter. But when your auto mechanic is knee-deep in a transmission replacement and he finds out it's going to be $2000 more dollars to put it all back together. HE GETS ON THE PHONE TO THE CUSTOMER before reassembling the transmission. This is a minimum level of retail communication, not "We can take your transmission back out if that would work better for you."

I've made appointments and shown up on time three different times over this period, yet my phone still isn't fixed. Each time, they were missing one or both of the required parts for the recall. They had my phone number and appointment on file, but they never called me in advance to let me know they didn't have the parts. Not only was I disappointed, but it seemed everyone in line had a similar problem. During my three visits to their Washington Square location, I never once saw a single person get helped with any issue. I have never encountered such an inept group of people running a store. They were full of excuses for every situation. I watched nothing but people walk in, only to be told they couldn't be helped and leave frustrated. I wish I could say my story was the worst. The man next to me yesterday said he'd been trying to get help there for over six weeks--I'm only three weeks into this ordeal.

I took it in during lunch and had a new battery 30 minutes later. The person who helped me was friendly and helpful... one million times better than the service received at Apple. So happy to have a phone with better battery life and hopefully can hold on to it a few more years. Apple will have to wait to get my upgrade money :)

I had the model number and all the information and Ryan was able to tell me the cost and how quick he could fix it for us. I said I was going to call around to get prices and repair time and he even suggested a few places, which I felt was very good business practice and made me feel comfortable. So I decided to use him for our repair and called him back to please place the order for the part. He definitely wasn't as friendly on my second call, but I just imagined he was busy. He said we could drop the laptop off anytime and so I asked my husband to do so since he was in the area that day. When he got to the address there was no "Device Doctors" he said there was a cell phone repair shop with that address. He went in and no one was there, which he thought was weird. Eventually was greeted by the cute pup in the photo and then finally Ryan. My husband said that he had very little customer service skills and didn't seem to even realize who he was (despite the fact that I said we would drop off the Chromebook and gave him all of my contact information over the phone,) when my husband said that I had spoken to Ryan. I didn't think anything of it as I thought he was very kind on my initial call. He told us the laptop would be finished on Tuesday (we dropped it off on Friday,) and it was. For some strange reason my voicemail didn't show until the next day. We were able to get a loaner from the school so it wasn't urgent for us to pick it back up. We did however, need to get an invoice for the repair as it was a warranty that we were using to get the repair done. My husband went back on Wednesday and he said no one was there. I tried calling multiple times and just got the voice mail. I finally got a hold of Ryan on Thursday and confirmed the hours and my husband was able to swing by again since he was in the area, and pick it up. However, we didn't get a repair invoice, we only got a Square receipt with the total. Since our warranty plan required a detailed invoice, I called 6 or 7 times trying to get a hold of someone and when I finally got a hold of Ryan on Friday he said he could email me an invoice if I would just text him the information. I did so, and at the end of the day on Friday I still had nothing. At the end of the day on Saturday again, no invoice. By Monday, I tried calling again multiple times and couldn't get a hold of him. I finally text and said that we needed the invoice to be able to submit our claim. And again, provided the details. Let me say this - if you're looking for customer service and you need that more than you need the repair, this isn't your spot. BUT if you need the repair you've been guaranteed for the price you've been quoted, this is it 100%. If I didn't need the detailed invoice, Ryan would have gotten 5 stars, for delivering what I asked for when he promised it. BUT it was a HUGE hassle trying to get a simple invoice to submit my warranty claim. That ran down the stars to a 3 star since it became more hassle than it was worth. We could have used a different shop, waited longer but gotten less hassle in the customer service area. I was disappointed, but I would go here for non-warranty work that I don't need within a specific time frame. He just lacked the customer service and follow up that I needed for my repair.

My experience here was truly unpleasant and infuriating…read more I stopped in to the Pearl location on 4/27. My phone has a loose speaker grill and the front glass of my phone needs to be replaced, as it is so scratched that the selfie camera is unusable. First off, despite being the only customer in the store, I had to wait ~5 minutes before the clerk came out of the back room. When he finally appeared I asked about the needed repairs, and the clerk said, "Sure I can do that." Then he told me that all he could do for the speaker was squirt some superglue up into the speaker port/grille and that it "might fix the issue but usually doesn't and blocks the speaker. But that's the only thing I can do about that." So the "Sure I can do that" was just a lie. That isn't a repair, that is squirting superglue and hoping for the best. Luckily I managed to stop him before he did it without verifying that I actually wanted him to do it. He quite literally was already reaching for the glue until I said "Well, then I absolutely don't want you to do that." THEN the clerk proceeded to pull out a screen protector box, and began opening it. When I saw him get the screen protector out, I asked him, "Is that a screen protector? Because I actually need the front glass replaced." He didn't stop what he was doing, continued applying the screen protector, and just said, "That's not worth it." Despite the fact that I already explained to him that I had a VERY specific reason for requesting that the glass of the phone itself be replaced. I never requested that he apply a screen protector, in fact I tried to stop him from applying it. He didn't even ask me about the type of screen protector, and installed a matte one. Even if I wanted a screen protector, I never would have selected a matte one, nor would I have applied it on an already heavily damaged screen. And, obviously, the screen protector over the top of the scratched glass does nothing to fix the selfie camera issue. He also installed it without the typical application tool, so the screen protector was misaligned. Frankly it really felt like the clerk simply wasn't interested in doing any actual repair work, and just wanted me to leave so he could go into the back room and chill there again. He was doing anything "repair" he could, as fast as he could, so that he had an excuse to charge me for it, even though he failed to do anything I asked.

He revived our dead iPad by replacing its battery, fast and easy for only $150, despite Apple telling us nothing could be done. Even better was how nice and reassuring he was! He listened patiently to our our sad shameful confession that it wasn't backed up nor signed into an Apple ID, understood with great empathy our worry about potentially losing all the great cat pics & videos we had on it, and discussed magical ways he could extract them if we couldn't figure out how to transfer them ourselves after he fixed the battery! He was great at explaining all the steps we needed to take, without overwhelming us. That's a priceless skill! We literally left smiling and hopeful, and he texted 2 days later it was all fixed up and ready for pickup. Mission accomplished!
