My partner and I used to love going here or getting takeout when we were nearby. The food was…read morealways amazing, we usually got burgers or wraps, and the fresh cut fries were excellent. They were probably my favorite restaurant fries around. We came in to eat on our way back from Hartwood Acres, and wow, the fall from grace was pretty obvious from the start. It's been about a year since we last dined in here, and slightly more recently for takeout. The server, when she did finally come over to greet us, was very pushy about upsells and visibly disappointed when we weren't going for drinks or appetizers. She only stopped at the table twice before delivering our check; a runner dropped off our food and the server didn't check on us until we were basically done eating and I needed a box. I felt like she was one step away from rolling our eyes at us for getting water and (gasp) no dessert. As a former server myself I usually tip pretty generously, between 20% and 25% for average to good service, but this was an exception. She was borderline rude. But the service wasn't even the most disappointing part. They did away with the fresh cut fries and gave us some sad generic frozen ones. They were fine but they were nothing to write home about. Those fresh cut fries would be in my dreams once in awhile they were so good. To replace them with some Ore Ida crap I could get from the grocery store was beyond disappointing. My husband's burger was visibly lower quality. It had more lettuce on it than meat. Those burgers used to be thick and fresh, and this just wasn't it. My go to at Dive, the salmon BLT wrap, was OK, but the sauce was distributed unevenly in it. One bite would be completely dry and the next was drowning. I'm just overall disappointed that the food isn't as good anymore. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would happily pay 20% more to maintain the quality we had in past experiences than pay the same for what we got on our most recent visit. I don't think we'll be back unless they brought their original fries back.

Absolutely fabulous lunch here the other day after our trip to the quirky, fun Bayernhof museum…read more Like any really good BBQ place, you smell the goodness before you even get there. In this case, a *giant* smoker is just outside the front door, and man oh man, is it loaded with yumminess --- ribs, chicken, brisket. (Faint!) The place, originally opening in the 1890's (!!), is a real throwback, despite their having to rebuild sometime ago after a bad flood. The current owners - with their families - are some serious hard workers, and the output is just terrific. One of the owners waited on us, a charming Pittsburgher (not sure if it was Chad or Nick) who has an infectious passion for both good beer and his fine food. I got the recommended oatmeal stout which I really enjoyed - smooth, nutty, flavorful. My husband enjoyed his wheat beer. Both of these from the fairly extensive draft list. The food is the real star, tho. Our foursome started with fried green tomatoes - a nice crunch with a good, lightly spicy wing-style sauce. AND ---- the favorite of all of us: smoked chicken wings. MOMMA. These are a signature item for good reason. Order a 1/2 dozen or dozen. They are on the medium side, plump and juicy, with a tasty dust. Perfectly cooked. Apparently they start smoking them in the morning! Dreamy! The owner brought us some fabulous sauces, along with homemade blue cheese dressing, for dipping. The highly-popular "Moonshine" bbq sauce was our fave, hands down. The House sauce was a bit plain but good. The 1/2 n 1/2 - with House sauce and (I think) Carolina BBQ sauce was good. Next time, I'll try their habanero bbq sauce - I think they call it "Hot Hooves." My friend & I split the pulled smoked chicken sammie with a side of really good, home made collard greens. The greens were quite good - not bitter at all - high praise from this Southern gal! The sandwich was great - with chunky bits of smoked chicken, but honestly - you could just eat those fab smoked wings! My husband enjoyed his brisket sandwich. I'm not a big red meat girl, so I can't speak to the flavor. My sister in law got a straaaaange experience -- the gigantic pretzel with 2 smoked meats (pork & chicken) accompanied by a side of Mac & cheese. She wanted to have leftovers, and boy did she get her wish! Yikes. Too weird for me. They have a small outdoor space at the back. We enjoyed the front section with the giant bar. There's also more seating in the back. They have special nights for their delicious food---- those fab wings are super cheap on Tuesday; cheaper meat platters on Wednesdays; & Saturdays are cheap tacos ---- the place was once a taco/Mexican restaurant, apparently. We will most definitely be back!!!

This shits all over both of them Off the bat decent sports bar set up. Couple TVs but not a ton. There's a back dining area I didn't get to fully see The burgers. The patties themself are SO fucking solid. I got the rodeo without bbq sauce and used hot garlic with Onions rings on top. Those didn't all come right out with each bite so bingeing there. The bacon was mid and garlic sauce was ass. I asked for Pittsburgh Rare and got medium. It was still so juicy that I didn't even care. Very shocked there Cam did a build your own and got provolone, fried tomatoes, coleslaw and chimichurri. This was fucking insane. All around. The way the cheese wrapped around, the coleslaw being vinegary, the fry on the tomatoes and then that chimichurri.... Would absolutely destroy this again THE WINGS. FUCK YES. These are now my second favorite in Pittsburgh. ALSO easily the best smoked wings I've ever had as well. The rub on them is unbelievable. You'd expect super salty but not even close, the chicken isn't dried out and the size is solid. I'm always team flat but they have made me only want drums now The blue cheese said it's made in house. That was terrible and tasted like watered down Ken's. The hot garlic tasted like it was bought from Giant Eagle. That garlic parm though was un fucking real I will absolutely be returning for these wings and getting the chimichurri, garlic Parm and trying a barbecue sauce next time. Will grab a burger depending on how hungry I am. Huge fan of those, but wouldn't say go out of your way for that but if you're already there get the burger

It's been a while that I've moved out of Pittsburgh; I've found other bars that I like, but nothing has quite replaced Gooski's in my heart. I make a point to pay my respects every time I return here. Hardly anything has changed on the interior in the last 30 years. And I hope it never does. It's dark, it's grimy, it's smoky, it's quintessentially Pittsburgh. Crowd has always been an effervescent mix of ages and walks of life. The beer selection is wide and affordable. And the food is just right for intoxicated palates.

First, I wish I would have bought a Gooski's shirt. I have no idea if they had them when I visited but I totally forgot to check when I was there. It feels like the kind of place that if you're wearing this shirt in your hometown a Pittsburgh native would stop you on the street to tell you, "Gooski's is legendary." I wish I was there for the cheap ass drinks and edgy vibe when a band was playing as I love a punk rock vibe, but I think I was there too early in the day for that. The staff was cool, the drinks were exactly what you'd expect, and it's the kind of place that I'd spend way too much time in if I lived in Pittsburgh.

The waitress was really nice and said one table was leaving soon and she put some tables together for my large group. She was pretty attentive for serving almost the whole bar alone. My mom and I split the burger and mesquite butter wings I think they could've been a little more saucy, I didn't mention anything, but I'm sure she would've brought me more. If I asked. I heard a lot of good things about the ranch and it was good once I really really tasted it. I didn't find it that flavorful off the top but once I really tasted it, it did have good flavor. Maybe this was a fresh batch that needed to sit. My dad got the buffalo chicken eggrolls. They were good, but we didn't realize it would just be chicken dip in the eggroll wrapper We were expecting shredded chicken with hot sauce and cheese or something similar. I came to celebrate my granddad's birthday just to try something new and he generally likes bar food. He enjoyed it as we sang happy birthday to him. The other patrons and the waitstaff also joined in and someone even offered to buy him a drink. this is a really nice bar if you're looking for good food , good vibes and nice people.

I was in the area and decided to check it out. I appreciate a smoking bar that isn't a big cloud of smoke. Well ventilated so that is always a plus. The regulars are friendly, the bartenders are attentive, and the prices are very reasonable. You can tell it's the kind of spot where locals have been coming for years, but newcomers are made to feel comfortable too. It has that old-school charm without feeling run-down, which is rare. The lighting makes it easy to relax and actually see what's going on, and the place is kept tidy compared to a lot of smoky bars. It's not a fancy place, but it doesn't try to be--it's just a solid, straightforward bar where you can grab a cheap drink, chat with people, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. If you're looking for a polished cocktail lounge, this isn't it. But if you want a classic neighborhood tavern that feels safe, friendly, and easygoing, Krick's is a great choice.
