One of my favorite dive bars in Pittsburgh, very cozy and chill atmosphere. Great beer selection, gotta love me a cold Guinness! Food is really good, one of my favorite spots to grab chicken wings, fried pickles were good too. It's a win-win when you can find everything in a single place; a cold Guinness, great chicken wings, fair prices, great service and a jukebox!

Great place! We're from out of the area and were looking for a place that offered vegetarian/vegan food and good beer. So glad we stopped in. We both had the vegan seitan rib eye and a few beers. You order at the bar and then the food is brought out to you. I wish we lived closer so we could try more things off of the menu. The prices were amazing and the staff was so friendly. We didn't realize when we stopped in, but it was their first day opening the kichen back up after I believe doing a kitchen remodel. You could hear the buzz from other patrons about how excited they were to be back and I can totally understand why.

NGL this grilled cheese - cheese burg combo was a dream. If you ever thought to yourself, "this burger could use a grilled cheese," "this grilled cheese could use a burger" or never thought any of those in your life but love GOUD cheesy food- this one is for you. The Texas toast (don't know if that's what it was but that's what it felt like) was buttered to the gawds above. Ruggers knows the CTS (cheese to sando) ratio and went above and beyond the call of duty. The burg patty was flavorful itself and held its own up next to the overflowing cheese mountain that surrounded it. The fries were a perfectly salted addition to the sando. It was as mouthwateringly delicious as it looks and #GOUDapproved from all angles over here. Mondays are also taco night so you gotta pick up a few tacos SIGNATURE! Grilled Cheeseburgher Our 3 cheese grilled cheese sandwich with American, Mozzarella, and Swiss. But with a burgher patty in the middle. Substitute our Banzo Burgher patty to make it vegetarian. $11

Man I'm sad all I have is this blurry pic but this felt like the quintessential pittsburgh bar! The vibes were pretty good in here early on a Friday night, not too busy but not quiet at all either. The staff was real nice and they had really fun Halloween decor. The body bag cracked me up. They have pudding shots which were really good and reminded me of dirt and worms you usually get as a Halloween dessert. The fries here are pretty good too. Definitely a cool locals bar in Southside to check out if you're looking for a low key spot that embodies pittsburgh.

I visited this place twice while in Pittsburg. I came during the happy hour and got me a few well drinks and a liquid marijuana as well as some fried pickles. The bartender was friendly and bubble and it was chill vibe in there. Prices were cheap and I really liked that: I came back later that night for a few drinks but that bartender was bland. Overall I would come back when in town again.

Ruggers is a gem I wish I'd found sooner. I actually lived across from them for 3 years and had only been one time for a trivia night. If there's one thing that truly stood out to me, it's how many veg options their menu has. It's hard to find vegan wings, even in a city like Pittsburgh. My friend and I split garlic parm, honey mustard, and melting pot seitan wings. Big, juicy, and flavorful=exactly what we wanted. We also split a grilled cheese with pickles added inside (the correct way). The food was all great, but I need to point out THEY HAVE PUDDING SHOTS!! They are delicious and dangerous. I could eat 20. If you're looking for a bar to hang out at that has great vibes, great food, phenomenal deals, and trivia- this is the bar for you!

This local bar sits back off of Carson next to the Birmingham Bridge. It's your perfect local dive and for the holidays they transform it into a yinzer wonderland. The decor is fun and they have lots of holiday and regular drink specials. We didn't eat while we were there, but all the food that came from the kitchen looked delicious. The crowd is chill and it is a great place to watch a Sunday Steelers game. The bartender was super friendly as well.

This place is a fun pub. Only have enjoyed beers and cocktails here but like the selection and bartender was great! Rugby was on one TV and anything else on the other screens.

we don't live here, only passing through so we went and picked up food (didn't eat in) and we ordered seitan wings, fries and a deluxe burger with pickle chips on the side. the fries we will not touch as they are soggy and weird textured? the seitan wings aren't very good.. the gold black sauce is ok though. thank god we bought cans of beer, because honestly that's the only way we're finishing the food we paid for. the pickle chips are horridddd. my husband said his burger is just "ok" we only went here cause they were the only vegan option open late at night. the bartender seemed annoyed with us for whatever reason in the very small time we were in there. but i'd rather not eat than pay for food like this. only giving an extra star for the decent vegan options.

I've lived in southside for quite sometime and I never made it to ruggers pub to eat. I ordered the setian wings with garlic parm and Serrano scotch Bonnet sauce they let me choose two different sauces which was nice. They have multiple different options for vegetarians/ vegans which is nice. I definitely enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere.

We stopped in on a Tuesday night and opted to sit at the bar since it wasn't busy. Something important to note is that when we arrived, the music was playing softly in the background. While the prices were decent, the service was not. Our waitress came over to us after our appetizers arrived, I asked for a refill, we made eye contact, she ignored me, and turned around. It took another ten minutes before I was able to get a refill, and she never asked again for the rest of the time we were there. The people sitting beside us arrived later and ordered similar food to us, and they somehow received their food quite some time before ours came out. I am almost certain the bartender forgot to put in our order. Halfway through our meal (which was okay at best), someone turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. I'm pretty sure "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl" played three times in a 30-minute window. It felt like we were intruding on a private party despite there being maybe seven other people at the bar. Despite clearly being done with our food, it took us another 30 minutes to get our checks. If you're looking for cheap bar food and don't mind repetitive music at varying levels of volume and being ignored by your bartender, give Sidelines a try.

Bocce. Not the most popular sport, but honestly a nice lackadaisical, recreational sport that accommodates all types of people. The facility is pristine (probably since it is relatively new)... but it hopefully stays this way! Six courts with different colored sets of balls. The carpet is smooth and rolls well with excellent foot paths and seating areas. The extras make the experience feel very professional with lane timers, measuring tapes, ball racks, and score keeping methods. Even down to the rules laid out including my favorite.. "No swearing in English" The bar area is also top notch! Self serve beer taps and wine taps (these are the coolest). Just tap your card and they have siphons that pull your wine right from the bottle.. and chilled glass coolers to enhance your experience. A dock for a food truck to pull right up to! They served us multiple pizza types (pepperoni, white, margherita, and pesto chicken), wings (honey barbecue and original), and french fries. They more than accommodated our group with ample refills of the food and a plethora of to-go containers at the ready to ensure that we took everything home! I grabbed an Orange Crush from the bar and it was refreshing with a strong amount of alcohol. The bartenders are used to their Italian crowd, so they aren't messing around. It is a place dedicated to the sport of soccer/football (hence "the pitch") much of the inside is the same, but with lots of British football/soccer swag and games on every TV. It is even cooler than the last place! Brian, one of the owners, was on hand at the bar the first time we went and so friendly and helpful and chatty. We enjoyed his company. We shared a Garlic and Rosemary Grilled chicken sandwich. It came on a lightly toasted bread. It was delightful! A nice balance and blend of rosemary and garlic flavors with spinach and tomato and a great aioli. Side of fries were crisp and lightly seasoned. The ranch dressing was the just-right creamy texture and a great mix of herbs, buttermilk and mayo ( ?) This time, ( couldn't stop thinking about that sandwich!) we brought our pup and sat in the cozy courtyard with umbrella tables, a TV for soccer games and a few outdoor games as well. Brian ( again!) came to check on us and brought water for Rooney. Our order this time was a smash burger for Todd and that chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfect, but this time it was on a small hoagie roll, which dampened the flavors, but was still delicious. Todd declared the smash burger just right medium rare.
