We just moved to town and decided to check out this unusual bar that is decked out in a very colorful tiki vibe. We had wings, a burger and a meatball sub and Italian sausage sandwich... Let me start with the size of the entrees! Wow! Lots of food for the value! The drinks are fairly reasonable as well... The hamburger was very fresh. My son ate his and he said it was nice and juicy... my husband and I shared the Italian sub and the marinara on it was very tasty. We had half to come home. Fries were nice and crispy. Wings were delicious as well. The service was fast and friendly, the bartender was extremely accommodating. I don't know why this is a 3.3 on here.... They have quality food and a fun atmosphere. The Hula Bar is a great neighborhood place to watch a game, just hang with your friends, eat a pizza or some wings and just socialize for a few hours. Prices are modest. the food is just standard bar food but it's well prepared and the patrons are generally well behaved. There have been some staffing issues but they're no better and no worse than the staffing shortages that most businesses have been experiencing. There's no band, no karaoke and no other extraneous activity, just a relatively calm, quiet atmosphere where you can visit with friends and enjoy a conversation. Sherri, her husband and her staff do their best to create a friendly atmosphere. One more thing, there have been rumors of white supremacists being welcomed at the Hula Bar. The people spreading these stories disagree with Sheri's political views and are intend to harm her because of it. These stories are entirely untrue. read more

An okay spot in Verona, a dive bar with somewhat of an edge. The restaurant space is "Hula" themed and they do have some outdoor seating. Could be cleaner. Great place to watch games. They had no draft beer available the day we were there. Our waitress was great, it was pretty busy and she was only person taking care of the whole place and still was on top of things. The Hula fries were not great, way too much cheese (something I don't often say). The burger I had was pretty good though. Prices are reasonable. Worth checking out. read more

Needless to say, I shouldn't expect much from the food at a nightclub but I went during the day for food and drinks. My drink was stiff But my burrito was cold. The CHEF obviously doesn't know the menu, period. The cheese wasn't melted, and he added a very sparse sprinkling of extra lettuce and tomato for free when I should have been charged like $3. Here we go steelers, here we go!! That being said i'm usually here for sporting events. I first came during hockey season on a Tuesday night. Every table was packed. We had to sit in a corner table that was low to the floor unlike the tall bar style tables. i didn't mind tho because the three projection screen TV's they have are huge and visible throughout the whole establishment. They have a pool table and a dart board for entertainment and i think an arcade game of sorts. the pool game cost money of course but that's ok. they have about 15 bar talbes that seat between 2 and four people but you can add more chairs for your liking. They also have bar seating for about 15-20 as well. The inside is nicely decorated with a Caribbean pirate theme. Almost makes you feel like its halloween all year round. skeletons, sharks, and bamboo decorations. The food selection is crazy! they have four pages of food, all bar food, wings with over 24 sauces, 20 pizzas, 20 burgers, and all kinds of appetizers. Plus they have soup and salads but don't expect a steak sandwich or roasted chicken. I've had their wings.. pretty good, and their pizza is ok, the jalapeno burger was just as good too. My sister raves for their funnel cake fries, which come topped with powdered sugar. YUM! Can't forget their beer selection either. They have specials every night. We went on a monday and all their 12oz drafts were only $4. Naturally I had two. they list about 20 drafts plus they have bottled beers and a full bar. This place is cheap as far as food and drinks come. They even had 5 coors light bottles in a bucket for $12. They also have $5 eat-in-only pizza specials. and half off apps and wings during steeler games. The atmosphere is pretty chill, people are mainly there to drink and mind their business or to socialize about whatever local game is on. It's pretty cool expect for the service. On certain days they only have 2 people to serve the entire bar. So it may take awhile to get served. I notice that they care more about serving you beer and liquor than actual food. I would suggest they get more employees to meet the demand. Especially on game day!! who has only two servers during a steelers or pens game. really? I was just in the state store behind what I assume is the owner of this place. I have never seen someone treat another person so poorly in my life, as she did the employees at the state store. She refused to get off her phone, she practically threw her check across the counter at the cashier and was just down right rude. I can not imagine giving my money to any business that is run by such a person. Be careful how you treat people in public, it may cost you in the end. read more

What a great place! The burger was huge and tasted really fresh! We brought the kids around dinner time and they loved the pizza too-BONUS! I love the atmosphere, it feels like I've escaped Pittsburgh. I love that there's a dance floor, with a great dj on Saturdays and love there's other things to do like pool and darts! Horrible food, slow service and a dump. My husband got Jamaican jerk wings which were drowning in grease but no seasonings. I got a burger that was bland, tasteless and had a few bone chips. Absolutely horrible service at this place. Last Pens season I told myself after countless bad visits that I will never come back to this place again. I stuck to my word the remainder of that season, next season came around and a friend from another state wanted to go for the wings and a pens game (only good things about the hula bar) since he was our guest I figured we I could give it another chance. It was an unusually slow night and the experience was a bit better than the last. Since then I have been back twice. Both visits consisted of multiple wrong drink orders, appalling service, horrendous bill screw ups, menu items not available. Friend of mine didn't get her order of wings until everyone was completely done eating and ready to leave. The most recent visit my friends and I sat for at least 30 minutes before someone waited on us for drinks, another 30 minutes before the waitress/bartender came back to take our food order. At this time we were ready to leave but the waitress had already taken our debit cards for our drinks and they have a $10 minimum, which is technically not allowed. So we decided do just stay for wings. Food came out at all different times, got the wrong flavor of wing sauce. After everyone was done eating we walked up to the bar to request checks because we were no longer waited on. Instead of the waitress giving us our checks she had immediately ran the checks through charging my debit card $47.90. She billed me for 6 orders of 18 wings. Totaling to $39.00, my friends order of 12 wings, his beer and my 2 well drinks, after telling her at the beginning of the night that the checks are going to be separate. I confronted the bar tender and told her that my check was incorrect and she then went on to tell me that she billed me for me and my friends order and that she had already processed it and it cannot be reversed and asked if my friend can just pay me the money for my his meal. I at this time I tried to explain to her that she had charged me $39.00 for 18 wings and she said well you had the 18 wings so that's correct. Meanwhile 18 wings at regular price costs $11.99 but it was half priced wing night so they should have been $5.99. After explaining this to her she then finally realized her misatake and said that her manager is going to have to correct the bill when she gets in later that night. Im still waiting to see if this was actually addressed. Giving it until Monday. So my bill should have consisted of 18 wings for $5.99 and 2 well drinks that were also on special for $3.50 each totaling my bill to $12.99 before taxes and I was charged $47.90. Even with my friends order on my check this bill was waaaay over what it should have been and what makes me the most angry is the bartender acted as if I was wrong and had the nerve to tell me to just have my friend pay me because there was nothing she can do about it. This visit was just the last straw. I am actually amazed that this place continues to get business. Their owner would rather spend money on having a DJ there instead of hiring another waiter or waitress to provide a better experience to their customers. My continued visits were be because it's a nice place to watch pens games with a large group of friends and the wings are really good but the horrible experience every visit makes it not worth it any longer. The fact that my friends and I will never come back to this place might not mean a thing to the Hula bar, however if they don't make some changes I can see this having a huge impact on their business. read more

We were here so long I actually cancelled the order from my salad because the waitress brought out everything else and told me "it will be out soon" after I reminded her......and 20 minutes later when it still wasn't in front of me (like holy crap are you harvesting the vegetables in the back for it?) Mostly friendly service but the food has been subpar at best when I've come here. Stopped in tonight with some friends and while we were there they decided to open up their 2 garage doors, even though it's in the 30s degrees & snowing. The bar is only 25% full, not crowded enough to be warm in here. Not sure why a bar would want to freeze out their patrons. read more
