Stopped in for a quick grab and go lunch and picked up the Zenshi spicy salmon roll and a container of fresh-cut watermelon. The sushi was decent, nothing mind-blowing, but fresh enough for a supermarket roll and perfect for a light meal. The real standout was the watermelon: incredibly fresh, crisp, and perfectly sweet. You could tell it was recently cut and it hit the spot on a warm day. The store was clean, well organized, and easy to navigate, and the self-checkout line moved quickly. The ambience was calm and orderly, which made the overall shopping experience smooth and enjoyable. 5 stars for convenience, quality produce, and a solid lunch option on the fly. read more

went and got a sub the lady who made it was an older light skin maybe hispanic woman, i should've asked her name because she was rude while making my sub. she did not want to make it how i was asking even though i was being kind and patient. every time i asked for something she stopped and looked up at me like it was a problem. she still didn't add extra mayo or give me vinegar. if you know how you expect your sandwich to be then you know that this was so disappointing especially because these subs not cheap. never coming back to this public for a sub even though publix is one of my favorite places to go for one. read more

By far, the worst assembled Publix sub I've had. It was done by a gentleman by the name of Ryan wearing a pink shirt. Every other Publix deli employee who assembles custom subs always places condiments like mustard/mayo on the bread which I assumed he would also follow this common sense standard since he asked before assembling but he placed them on at the end on top of everything making it a sloppy mess. During the interaction it was glaringly obvious that he just simply didn't care about presentation or his customers ability to consume the mess he made. Take a little pride in your work. I encourage management to take note and train your employees so they can make a decent sub and don't put mustard on top so it gets all over the client while they're eating. You know what they say, common sense, the other National deficit. Dining area had no napkins...during a lunch hour rush but plenty of employees using the dining area for social hour vs. taking care of basic customer needs...smh! This is the only Publix I've experienced where shopping was about as far from a pleasure as one could imagine. read more

I have been watching Hulu for a few weeks now and everytime there's a commercial break there's a Publix commercial. Not only is it extremely persistent, but outrageously annoying. It is so annoying that I'll never set foot in a Publix. The music is extremely loud in relation to every other commercial and the actual shows themselves. I seem to go through phases with different grocery stores. Currently, I'm hooked on Publix after getting annoyed by Kroger one too many times, creeped out by Farm Fresh, and skeeved out by The Fresh Market. I've been visiting this Publix location because it's a straight shoot down 64E from downtown Richmond. It takes about 10 minutes to get here and I've never endured any sort of traffic jam. Here are my main reasons for liking this Publix store: 1) The parking lot isn't insane. It never seems too-too busy here. Just a normal, steady stream of customers. 2) The baked goods section. Strawberry cream cheese cookies, cakes galore, raspberry danish coffee cake, ... yum. 3) Mayfield Ice Cream. I haven't seen it anywhere else and it's legit the best grocery store ice cream I've ever had. I don't make claims like that lightly. It's legitimately beautiful. I can't stop eating it. I'm going to gain 300 pounds at this rate. 4) Taylor pork roll. They sell it here. In Virginia. In the breakfast meats section in the back. As a Jersian turned Virginian two years ago, I've been in pork roll withdrawal. Knowing a taste of Jersey is 10 minutes away just makes me feel so much more at home. 5) Their Tuscan sliced turkey breast in the deli. It's so good. There are some 'meh' things too: 1) When they rely on self-checkout primarily. It's annoying. I'm too lazy for that. 2) The deli line. Each time I try to go to the deli, the people in front of me order the entire place. They never have a backup person assisting. It's a little nuts. Can they just please pre-package that turkey so I don't have to wait in line for so long? 3) Not the store's fault, but I used their restroom once and watched a lady walk out without washing her hands. I just needed to mention that somewhere because I'm still grossed out by her. 4) The milk expiration dates. Not only are they typically a few days out, but even the ones I can find with better dates tend to spoil quickly. Not cool. Otherwise, I like this store. The aisles are wide. They offer mini-carts. The pet area is stocked well with the cat litter my cats use. The freezer aisles are expansive. They have paper bags at check out. I'll continue to visit, at least for the time being, when I don't opt for Prime Now instead. read more

This store keeps busy. They do a good job of keeping it clean and organized. Even during this COVID19 era, they may run short on something but they normally have other options stocked. The sushi is good for grocery store sushi. The salads made on property are tasty and normally in good condition. There is one cranky lady at the self checkout who works there regularly, but she means well :) she is probably having people not following directions a lot to comply with COVID19 safety precautions. read more

So, on top of the fact that there was one cashier and after standing in line behind a lady with 1000 items to my four, the front end manager ignored that fact to hand pick who she wanted to go to Customer Service(people behind me in line) to be checked out, leaving me to continue to wait behind 1000-things-woman. When I looked at her square in the face after she laughed about it she dropped her head and looked away. All of this occurred after I was followed the whole time. I am so thrilled that we finally have a Publix in Richmond. My only prior experience with Publix was in Florida, and I absolutely loved it. Although it is a bit pricier than Kroger or Aldi, their fresh produce and meat selection is unbeatable. For a grocery store, they also have a great selection of wine at varying price points. I have even noticed that their wine selection is rotating, so when I go grocery shopping, I come across a couple different bottles that I had not seen before. All in all, Publix is by far the best grocery store in the area! read more

Worst treatment ever at the deli. Went there with a friend today to pick up subs for us and our husbands. At 1st only one person at the deli. Then others came to help. My friend was ordering so I had a separate order asked a lady to help she said I had to wait til my friend ordered then left to help someone else. Asked for white sub roll told we have to get there earlier because the sell out fast (we were there at noon). The subs my friend ordered had very little meat and looked nothing like the pictures on Publix site. I wanted a chicken tender sub they were out of tenders so, I asked for chicken breast she rudely said we don't just sell a single breast so I asked for the meal. Got back to work and I couldn't finish my lunch because the chicken was undercooked (pictures below). The only positive I can say is Jim in meats was pleasant and helpful. Got a gorgeous standing rib roast. Also, the seafood gentleman was very pleasant. I'll only be going back for the seafood, meat, and sushi departments. read more

I'm not sure why I've given this store so many chances when I go for salad bar for lunch. It is always Seems to look like a pig trough and evidently you have to get there before 1 o'clock if you want to get all of the offerings from the salad and soup bar, without scraping the bottom of the bind Utensils and containers are usually scattered and unstocked. The last 2 times I've been, there was no lunch cashier and had to wait in a long line just to pay for a salad. Whereas I'm a big fan of Publix from VA to FL, I've only found this particular store to be so unappealing and unfortunately it is the closest one to my job. read more

Be alert at this location of Publix supermarkets. You will find on a particular Thursday nuisance home shoppers and stockers. And forget if you have to use the bathroom. You will not find soap nor hand towels or an air dryer to dry your hands. (These are the same restrooms the employees use.) This is not the same experience as you would find in the Ukops in the old days. The prices are reasonable but it is not the same experience. I was disappointed today. I ordered a cake through there on line service , I had never ordered anything from them or even tried there cakes . Loved the selection ! The night before I was to pick it up they called me & asked if I needed balloons or candles or plates & napkins. I asked if this was a free service , they said yes , just tell them what I need & they would pull it off the shelves & have it waiting for me when I picked up the cake . Well , they had it all waiting when I got there , balloons , candles, plates, cups, napkins, cokes, diet cokes & the cake was awesome!!!! I always shop at Publix but last night I was really disappointed in management. We're preparing to feed the homeless today by making 100 sandwiches including snacks. I placed an online order (12lbs for deli meat) for instore pickup. When I got to the deli I was missing (4) lbs of ham. Note: The ham was on sale for $7.99 per lb. Apparently, they were sold out. No one called me to inform me; even though one of the associates behind the counter said they were going to call me but there wasn't a phone number on the order; but my phone number was on the order. I asked the deli manager could I get another brand of ham for the same price. She spoke with the MOD and he said no, he could give me a raincheck. I informed the deli manager that I was feeding the homeless and I needed everything that night. I went ahead and purchased the other (4) lbs of ham at $12.99 per lb and everything else I needed. Total cost spent $193.19. I only went to Publix because some of the deli meat was on sale; however, moving forward I will continue to go to the grocery store (in Short Pump) where I normal would go for these types of items! read more

Slowest Publix sub restaurant ever. Growing up in Atlanta and Florida I have never experienced such a poorly run sub rest. 7/20. 1 hour to get a sub is unacceptable.!! They had to slice meat for every custome. Update 8/19. I have moved on to the salad bar. They don't seem to care when there is no salad to fill the bar. Very clean store. Fresh produce and meats. They have sales on and off. A variety of natural and organic food options. Starbucks is located inside for you coffee buffs. They have a small quaint areas for plants. You can purchase Ukrops cold foods as well. Cashiers are friendly and the bagger actually walks you to your car and rolls the cart! Unbelievable. This is truly customer service. Convenient location. They just started to feature local foods in the front of the store. Very nice indeed! Worth the visit. Overall the services in another sections were fine. Until it came to starbucks. They have the most racist and rude manager ever. I came in every day ask for my steamed soymilk and yes it's in starbuck menu and its a beverage you can get from any starbucks but this racist manager lady is being ridiculous and telling me it's in the menu and I can't get it with the nastiest attitude ever. read more

Customer service was a pleasant experience with Heather on yesterday. (Hence the one star rating) On yesterday, I decided to give this store another chance with the salad bar and was hugely disappointed. It looked like my dog Pooty had went in there and attacked the salad bar, chewed it up, spit it back out, then kicked dust over it with his feet. Brown lettuce of what was left of it, very badly wilted spinach, most of them were almost empty and not just one salad bin, ALL OF THEM. They should probably just sell Ukrop's prepared foods as Kroger does. Yesterday I bought Publix artichoke, spinach and pepper quiche - two slices. It was bland and tasteless. This is one of those places that I love to visit when getting my groceries. First when you walk in there are always people there to greet you and they genuinely seem happy to be there. The selection is AMAZING and no matter what i am cooking I find what I am looking for there from a variety of cheeses to International ingredients they have it all. They offer an amazing array of beer and wine as well to compliment your menu. When you are ready to check out they have both individual lines as well as automated lines as well (that are monitored by at least one and at times two individuals). The sweetest part that shows their love for service is they will help you take your groceries to the car not because you need it per say but because they do good business. This past Christmas as we visited one of the other personal touches they offered was we ran into he store manager on our way out. He asked after our service and wished us well. I travel all over the SE US and visit many grocery stores. At home in the Lynchburg area we have two large remodeled Krogers and of course I've been to many Wegman's and Lowe's markets in the Carolinas so I know what a great grocery store looks like. The Publix I have visited in FL (where Publix is HQ'd) and GA have never impressed me. I have thought of them as a step above Food Lion. Good selection, clean & organized but nothing else. No wow factor. After reading the local Kroger reviews and knowing this Publix was fairly new, I decided to take a chance on this location. If people in FL saw this Publix, they would be mad! This place is nice, bright & modern. It even has a large salad bar (which unfortunately was closed up by the time I stopped by). The only reason I took off a star was the prepackaged salad I bought was kind of deceiving. After you took out the plastic tray on the top with the dressing, cheese, meat, etc. - there wasn't much actual salad. Also, I bought a buffalo chicken wrap that was kind of mushy on one side and didn't have much flavor. In the end, choose your prepackaged prepared food wisely. Everything else is good. read more
