Well appointed grocery store almost felt like home, definitely good enough for vacation. There were definitely some southern delicacies that we don't have up north. It's very appreciated that you don't need a "club" card or account to get deals/sales.

After a great dinner, we need dessert. I stopped into this Publix for a quick look through the bakery section and then frozen. This is a great example of the Publix chain of stores. No litter in the parking lot, empty cart corrals, a brightly lit store that is well stocked and clean. And no queue at the registers with enough people working today that the lines moved quickly. Yeah, it's more expensive than some other stores but that's getting you a better and more helpful shopping experience. The helper in the bakery area was able to box up a chocolate something and I found a small tub of keto-friendly ice cream in the freezers. Now we're cooking! Easy, fast checkout with a friendly cashier and a helpful bagger. Good work, Publix! [Review 14323 overall, 1647 of 2020, number 701 in South Carolina.]

Nice Store, Horrendous Produce For such a reputable grocery chain with regards to customer service and variety, Publix really should be ashamed of their produce departments. Embarrassed, really. I shop at the very nice store on Kings Hwy in Myrtle Beach and week after week the produce is old, dried out, limp and much of it pre-packaged. Even staples such as broccoli and onions and asparagus are brown and discolored and have no crisp to them at all. Peppers are wrinkled and corn on the cob is brown, it should not even be on the display. I don't expect it to look like Whole Foods, but maybe in the middle somewhere? Shame on corporate headquarters for not investing in their produce departments and offering good product to their shoppers.

Ended up coming here for some milk, creamer, prunes. Was happy to find some disinfectant wipes and spray, so, bought a bunch to carry us for the next few months. It's neatly organized and easy to find. I wanted some Zapp's jalapeño chips, but wasn't able to find any at this location. I checked at an attended register. I did self checkout when I forgot some items the second time before leaving again.

Good solid Publix. Clean store but not as well laid out as Murrells Inlet. This store has some age on it. Definitely 3 Stars.

Google Maps will be helpful as far as navigation. They have lots of free parking in a lot out front and the bakery counter is just down the main hallway entrance, on the left hand side of the hallway. It's just after the Fowler formal dining room. So, since it's student run, prices are reasonable and tax is included in every price/purchase. It's not open on Fridays or weekends, but is generally open 8 am to 4 pm Mon through Thurs. They do have some hallway seating available as well. And they do a limited selection of coffee drinks too. It's mostly sweet baked goods that are available and they offer both vegan and gluten free options too. Expect to see cookies, moon pies, possibly biscuits, chocolates, lots of pastries and maybe even a mini cheesecake or two. Seems like both students and professors work the counter and they will of course answer any questions you have regarding ingredients. I'd say on a typical morning they'll have a solid 25 to 35 different things you can potentially buy. I love that everything is made by students and that any profit they earn goes right back into their own culinary program. They don't really restock during the day, so its first come, first served and items like croissants and pain du chocolat can go quick. Both are very good and reasonably priced at 2 dollars each. They also rotate things in and out based on what they're working on in class...like one day they might have chocolate eclairs for sale, but the next day they don't. I've yet to see them offer donuts but they do plenty of chocolate items. One of my favorites is the death by brownie at 3 dollars. The chocolate mousse inside is sooo good. Moon pies are enormous and are like 2 to 3 bucks. Cookies like snickerdoodle, oatmeal, chocolate chunk, etc. are 50 cents each and are very good sized for that price. I did include pics of their case from my last visit, but I'm sorry for the poor quality. You can also look them up on Facebook and follow them as they sometimes do special events like a bbq fundraiser on a Saturday or custom order chocolates for Valentines Day. They'll also announce if they are going to be closed for a certain reason. These students are producing very good quality items at very good prices. They also do homemade breads on Thursdays after 2 PM only. Great stuff. Check them out, but keep it on the down low...I want my favorite items to still be there when I visit late in the day!!

I actually thought I walked into the wrong place because it looked so different. Assuming they noticed the confusion on my face, the owner says 'you must've been here on Saturday. We only have that selection of baked goods on Saturdays, if you watched the video it clearly explains that.' I was completely taken aback and to this day, have no idea what video he's referring to. I picked a couple items of whatever was available, then chose the olive garlic bread. As I said it out loud, the owner says 'it's OLIVES bread.' Embarrassed that I read the name from the label incorrectly, I again had no idea what he was talking about, it clearly states OLIVE GARLIC SOURDOUGH. He must've noticed my confusion again and explained how it's actual pieces of olives in the bread and not olive oil. I told him I knew it was olives and he said that some customers think it's 'olive oil'. Anyway, I spent $46 and probably won't return because I felt awful after that experience. It doesnt take away from the quality or taste of the products, but the professionalism was lacking.
