Publix just opened and is a very nice store. It seems to serve the Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's crowd. If there is something special you are looking for + regular groceries, Publix fits the bill. I like the online sub-sandwich ordering ahead of time and all departments stay open till store closing at 10pm. No sub club points though, but their breads and bakery items are made daily on the premise. The bread with the sandwich was very good. The cupcakes are made with butter crème frosting, however, I still favor Goody Box Cupcakes by far still for quality and selection.

The staff was so nice. We live in an area that doesn't have publix so we enjoy any chance to go to one!

Someone needs to have a conversation with the deli staff about what to do when customers are queueing up.

Golden Hex European Food Market - Whyyyyyy?

It was interesting but I had no idea what more than half the things in the store were, and if they…read morewere vegan. All the labels were in foreign languages. The one thing that I absolutely loved was the Turkish hand cream that I bought here. There was a picture of olives on the container, so I figured it was a skincare product with olive oil in it. It's called Zentiyagi Besleyici Bakim Kremi by Arko Nem. That translates to Olive Oil Nourishing Beauty Cream. It makes my hands feel so nourished and soft! I love it! They also have the Ritter Sport whole almond chocolates made of almonds from California. Had to buy!

Stopped by Golden Hex recently and enjoyed my visit!…read more Parking was very easy since there were plenty of spots right outside. The front doors were obscured so it almost looked closed, but luckily they swung open as I walked up to the entrance :) Inside, I was impressed by the huge selection of European wares, many of which I'd never seen before. I was intrigued by the zucchini spread but passed on it this visit. I also liked that all of the items had the country of origin listed with the price. I ended up only getting a package of pierogis for this visit, but I did check out the beer and wine section before I left. I wouldn't say the beer selection was huge, but there were quite a few interesting options that I think would be difficult to find anywhere else. There were lots of lagers, so if you're into that, Golden Hex may be your spot :) The cashier was polite and checked us out quickly. Overall, I liked Golden Hex and would definitely consider coming back to shop again.

Fresh International Market - Hot pot bar

Fresh International Market, while isn't as large or vast as some other markets, has the staples of Asian cuisine ingredients. I was able to find plentiful mustard greens, bean sprouts, taro, daikon, etc. They even had balut! Which is an indication that a lot of old school families go there, since balut is a controversial yet deep rooted delicacy of the east. In terms of herbs though, they seem to have more Chinese herbs, than Vietnamese or Korean which is a pattern I'm noticing with Asian grocers. Whatever ethnicity owns a certain grocery, carries more food items of that ethnicity, as opposed to others. It took me a while to figure that out. Just like any other Asian grocers, they have a ton of veggies, meat, snacks and even cute ceramics - bowls, plates, dipping sauce dishes, utensils, etc. They also have a neat sit down or to-go hotpot bar, similar to a buffet style bar (although it's served to you) so you can build your own meal. I found that super neat and convenient for people who just want a quick bowl but not all of the fuss of small plates, and the overall hectic experience of hot pot. Connected to the store is a nice French bakery too, that adds to the convenience of this grocery store. Overall, a good place to secure all of your Asian grocery needs!

Fresh International Market's hot bar has solid value, but the overall experience was just okay…read more The biggest positive is the portion size. For $10.99 (three-item plate), you get a very generous amount of food, which is hard to beat. There are also a decent number of meat options to choose from. That said, the selection felt limited for anyone going meat-free, and more importantly, the food itself lacked flavor. The mapo tofu was disappointing, and the bok choy was pretty bland. Others in our group tried the orange chicken, which was described as okay, but nothing anyone would go out of their way for. Overall, it's filling and affordable, but not particularly memorable. Good for quantity, just not quality or standout flavor.
