Great selection of food, teas, wine and beer, fresh-cut flowers, luxury candles, and other carefully curated holiday/specialty items. The produce is fresh -- true to the store's name. Although this location is smaller than some other Fresh Market stores, it offers the same open-market charm as other locations (maybe even more so because the smaller size gives a more authentic market feel). The store is clean, well-organized, and never crowded. I also really enjoy the ready-to-cook packaged meals for 2 or 3 (depending on age/appetite) which are very convenient for a quick home-made dinner, but also pretty tasty too. That said, I'm docking a star for one consistent issue: it's often hard to find staff on the floor who are available or eager to help locate hard-to-find items. For a new customer, that can be frustrating. The cashiers are friendly, but with only one or two usually working, asking for assistance sometimes means waiting until they've finished a line of transactions, which shouldn't be necessary in a well-staffed store. A lovely store with great offerings--but the lack of accessible customer service brings the overall experience down a bit unfortunately. read more

Received email offering free slice of cake for my birthday as a member reward. When I took cake to the checkout, I asked if it needed to be checked out since it was free and was told it did but would be voided at end. That did not happen, cashier did not know to fix it, called over manager who had the nerve to insult me by asking if I had already claimed my cake before, apparently insinuating I was trying to cheat them out of a slice of cake!!. It took several more minutes before manager figured out how to void that item. The more I shop at Fresh Market, the less I want to. Let me say this out of the gate: I love this store. I love where it is. I love the parking lot where I can always find parking (unlike Whole Foods in Waverly). But most of all I love what they stock here. Whoever is doing the work of stocking the shelves with items and bringing in new things-you are knocking it out of the park. You are the reason I virtually always travel up and down each isle to discover things I didn't even know I needed. Who knew black truffle honey was a thing? Not me. Not until you stocked it and I wandered past it and had to buy it. Also this is the only place I have found A2/A2 organic milk. So far as I know this is the only store to stock it in western Wake county. It is fantastic and I make regular trips to get more which I am always happy to do as I once again get to wander the isles and see what thing I might stumble across. The meat counter here is the best I have found in western Wake county, too. Yes I suppose you could go to the Butcher Shop in Salt Box village, but the quality of the meat is lower and the prices are higher in my experience. The seafood case, while smaller, has never let me down either. The fish has always been fresh and looks fantastic. I have seen other reviews talking about the staff or the customers being rude. I think the staff is lovely, even throughout the pandemic, and the customers the store cannot control. If you don't like the Cary customers I suppose the first step to the solution is not to be like them. If I had one issue it is that several years ago they stopped making the chocolate empire cake. Think chocolate cake enrobed in chocolate ganache and then coated with mini chocolate chips. It was amazing. Apparently Cary was the only place they sold any volume of the slices and they took it off of the menu. I still miss it. This is an outstanding, personable medium-sized grocery store. You should go. To Meat Counter and General Managers: Get the butchers counter together. Been there multiple times for chicken wing flats and you have 6-8 of them, that's it. I asked if there might be any in the back and the answer was a quick no. He was more interested in getting to the back to work on cleaning than to satisfy a customer. Ugh; two very important experiences.l from January 8, 2024...First, the store advertised "Tuna Steaks" for $7.99/lb...only to discover at the store all of the tuna was "previously frozen". Second, we saw pork chops for sale, but upon reading the fine print, we saw that the meat had been packed 5 days earlier on January 3rd! I would never let pork chops sit in my fridge for 5 days...! I'm a regular for buying the homemade chicken salad here - it's expensive but usually worth it - lately it's just been swimming in mayonaise and hardly any celery etc.. and that quality I can purchase at a lot of other places and much cheaper... The other MAJOR problem I have is now having to give the "membership" number which gives them free marketing data and if you don't well.. no sale price for you - I know everyone does this but I think an added bonus shopping here was they didn't deal with all that invasion of privacy.... I have driven past the Fresh Market a number of times but wasn't 100% sure what it was so I stopped in... the look reminds me of a Wegmans grocery store with a product feel of a Whole Foods. The vibe in there... well, honestly, I felt like I didn't belong there. 99% of the patrons were grumpy snooty old ladies. I had my 3 kids with me (ages 3.5, almost 2 and 3 months) and they were actually behaving wonderfully... yet all I got were nasty looks from everyone in there. It made me a little uncomfortable. I'm not expecting everyone to tell me how wonderful and cute my kids were but a smile or something when you make eye contact goes a long way. Price-wise, the Fresh Market was on the higher end. Many of the products were organic, which could be the reason for the elevated price tag. I did buy a 10oz package of organic baby spinach, which was listed as $4.99.(which was around what I paid for a 11oz package of regular baby spinach at Walmart). So that cost wasn't too bad. At checkout, it rang up $3.50 and the receipt said it was on sale 2/$7. (Would have been nice if that was labeled as being on sale, I would have grabbed 2.) Not sure if I will be back... read more

This market is always clean, follows good safety precautions, and offers delicious gourmet food options. Check their site, app, or newsletter. They have really good deals sometimes. Without the deals, items here can be pretty pricey. Everything is really good quality and delicious though. We like that they have meal kits. Those are convenient and very tasty. The family meal deals through the deli are good too, like their holiday meals and the chicken meal that is always available. I wanted to make a special gift basket for my neighbors so I tried that service last time I was there. It was great. I enjoy the variety of coffees and being able to sample them. I particularly love the Christmas coffee and buy it for gifts every year. Everybody loves it! The produce is excellent and wonderful looking meat department. The deli looks fabulous, but every time I buy something from it it's either really salty or tasteless. Very disappointing! Staff is friendly and helpful. If they don't have something your want they'll try their best to order it. The bakery is excellent too from sweets to bread. While the selection is great and on par with other Fresh Markets this location falls short of the experience that is expected. Let's be honest, shopping at a Fresh Market is about the experience! Checkout lines tend to be on the longer side. They have 7 lanes but usually 1-3 may be open. Premade food selection is great, but the items made in the back come out at odd times. Sometimes they are available at 10:30am, sometimes it's 12:30, and sometimes they just don't make certain items. The staff runs the gambit from extremely helpful and nice to passive aggressively rude depending on department. While most folks are on the nicer side the few that can be rude spoil the experience if you become their target. On the positive side the wine selection is quite nice, the layout is rather easy to navigate, free coffee samples, and most visits are pleasant. read more

Fresh Market is one of our favorite grocery stores. The sushi is incredible and they have a wide variety of desserts. We tried the chocolate cake and the chocolate pillow cookies, and they were both super tasty! Definitely worth checking out if you have one nearby! read more

The Fresh Market has the best and the worst of 2 things. Its the best place to shop for special meals and fresh meats and produce, hands down. I absolutely adore everything there. But the worst is, WATCH THE CASHIERS. Probably 9 out of 10 times, they charge regular price on sales prices. If you don't catch it, they certainly will not. Or they just screw things up. Two examples: Once my fave Popcorn was 2 for $5, so I wanted 2 flavors but could only find one. I got to the Cashier and asked where the 2nd flavor was, and they sent someone to go find it (it was on a display instead of being in the Chip aisle... odd!). He brought it back, apologized for it not being in the Chip aisle with the others, I continued to get rung up, paid and left. Got home... and I only had 1 bag! The Cashier made the decision for me that I only wanted the one bag. GRRR. So much for my discount! Then yesterday, they had a basket full of "50% Off Classic Candy" at the Cash Register, no prices on anything. I asked how much they are, and a cashier standing by did a price checked them and the Pop Rocks were $.99 a packet and the box of Hot Tamales were $1.99, so, she said 50% off that. We both figured half off those sounded like a pretty good deal. I had My Cashier ring them up... they rang up .99 and $1.99! I know you can get Pop Rocks for .30 cents a pack, and the box of Hot Tamales for $1.00, regular price. She said they must be originally double what she rang up. Really? No, that's not true, and she didn't even bother to check on it. Like usual, prices marked as "Sale" in the store, are not entered into the Computer System with the sales price. So, I said I don't want them, please take out the Candy because they are ringing up as full price. She did... for the Hot Tamales. NOT the Pop Rocks!! Geesh. After getting my receipt and checking it in front of her I pointed out that she didn't take out the Pop Rocks, and then she said she thought I wanted them, and finally, as the line grew behind me I said forget it, I'll pay for the Pop Rocks. GEESH! Double GRRRR. OH, and watch out for the "Buy One Get One Free Nut Breads." They get me EVERY TIME on that one. I bought 2 Orange Cranberry Walnut Breads. Yum. Got to the Cash Register, they rang up for $3.99 each. Oh yeah... they got me on this last time... only SOME of the Nut Breads are Buy One Get One Free. Never the ones that I want. Triple GRRR. I've been shopping there (on Cary Parkway) ever since they opened because I do love what is in the store and the feast to my senses that I enjoy so much when I shop there. I was definitely very disappointed when I came here for the first time. Being new to the area I was looking for a nice store to replace sprouts that I am used to on the West Coast. For starters, they didn't even have red grapes. There was the most awful stench in the back of the produce section coming from the back room it was just horrible, it was so bad I nearly barfed. Very very pricey. Even the conventional (not organic) vegetables are so pricey here. Jersey cow milk costs $3.25 per quart! That's $13 per gallon and it's not even organic milk. I usually only buy the dried pasta and cottage cheese from here. Produce is very expensive. If there are items on sale, such as baked goods or milk, I get those. Occasionally, I also buy those roasted/dry fried veggie chips which are delicious and they have a wide range of selection. Nice ambience and their coffee samples are wonderful. The bakery goods are also decent. 5 for the coffee, 1 for the prices :( read more

Like Whole Foods, this is not the place to do your weekly shopping but rather the place for specialty items, Meat and Produce. I routinely shop there on Tuesdays and take advantage of the specials for Chicken Breast and Chopped Meat. I do buy almost all my meat at TFM. The prices are definitely worth the quality. The Ground Chuck is a steal at $2.99 lb on Tuesdays. The Deli and Prepared Foods are very good and the Package Deals like the Chicken Dinner are well worth it. The produce is excellent. However, like other contributors I have problem with the miss-marking or deceptive layout of items. Very often 2 similar items are placed in a way that it is easy to think the package you have selected is the sale item when in fact it is not. My daughter (adult) grabbed a chocolate bar that she thought was $2 on sale. it turned out to be $7. Luckily she caught it at the checkout and told them to take it off. Unless you are careful you can be over charged. Whether this is a deliberate tactic or accidental I can't say but they could take steps to prevent this from being as big an issue. read more

In the current COVID pandemic this store is such a hypocritical place to shop. Yesterday morning I went to this store before 9 am to shop for a few items. The store clearly displays signs that mask/face coverings must be worn while in the store. I had no problems with my shopping experience as far as selections and availability. The problem came when I went to check out. There was a gentleman in line in front of me and yes we were socially distant from one another based on the floor markers. Once the cashier Kacee started the check out process for the gentleman she engaged in an entire conversation with the man. When he turned to the side to use his card for payment I realized that his mask was placed UNDER his chin, leaving his nose and mouth FULLY EXPOSED! The man continued to talk to her fully exposed until he departed the store. When she started to approach me, I immediately asked her if she had any air disinfecting spray to spray in the area. She said no. I then asked her why was the gentleman allowed to be in the store and hold an conversation with her without him being required to properly wear his mask? Her reply was that they are not allowed to put anyone out of the store! I let her know that I was not at all asking for him or anyone to be ejected from the store but to ask him to raise his mask to cover his nose and mouth as the store signage indicated to be a requirement. She had no comment for that and stood and looked foolish. She then "offered" for me to go to another register to check out which had a line of other people. I had already waited my turn in her line. This is not at all good customer service nor is Kacee and this store assisting in stopping the spread of COVID-19. I would say if you have any underlying health issues please be careful if you go to this location. Shame on Kacee and her management team! read more

Fresh Market is my guilty pleasure. If it wasn't so expensive, I would be there alll the time. As it is, I go about once every week or so for just a few things, but they have a fantastic selection of products. I typically don't shop there for things like produce, though if I find something at a good price, I'll get it. I find that there selection is essentially the same as any other grocery store. What I do like to get there is their fish, meat, and poultry products, as well as specialty snacks. They have a great selection and if you subscribe to their email newsletter, you can be kept in the loop on weekly sales and deals (which generally take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays). By shopping their sales, you can get your food reasonably price. Their fish is excellent quality, and they have delicious cuts of meat and ready to cook meals. My husband and I love the pastry stuffed with chicken and other flavors that you just cook in the microwave. They also have various marinaded meats and seasoned fish selections that make meal planning easy. They have a huge nut bar and specialty sweets. I also love the selection of gourmet pre-packaged and frozen foods. Oh, and their baked goods? How could I forget their fresh baguettes, rolls, and desserts? Like I said, they can be expensive. But smart shopping can land you some delicious and reasonably priced meals. read more

Also, the bakery has some exceptional items, including chocolate-covered strawberries as well as eclairs. If you're shopping for yourself, this place is still within most budgets. If you have a large family, then it might not be that cost effective to shop here. Be sure to check out the numerous bulk items they have. I only shop Fresh Market for holiday dinners because they are less expensive and better tasting than other options (WF). While the food is great and the holiday package is priced well, the store is crammed full of people and items. It is not a calm experience shopping there. I could not handle shopping there too often. I agree with the post regarding check out. I always watch how my items ring up. It's good practice. I haven't had any negative experiences, but I have caught incorrect ring ups in the past. One great thing I found while picking up holiday dinner - their chocolate cupcakes. Absolutely awesome and I love cupcakes and am quite picky. read more

I think this is a great store and I wish it wasn't so far away from my home! The meat selections in particular are great, it's one of the few places in town that I can rely on having veal in the meat case. They also have a beautiful selection of flowers that greet you as you walk in the door, and they are reasonably priced. They have a nice selection of deli meats and premade foods, although I have not sampled and of their premade items. The cheese selection was a bit disappointing though, it is pretty small with not a lot of options. I love to go in and just wander around looking for inspiration when I don't know what to make for dinner. Something will always jump out! read more
